Numbers 35

1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses in the waste plains of Moab, —by Jordan, near Jericho, saying:

யோர்தானுக்கு அருகே, எரிகோவுக்கு எதிரே மோவாப் சமவெளியில் யெகோவா மோசேயிடம் சொன்னதாவது,

2 Command the sons of Israel, that they give unto the Levites—out of the inheritance which they possess—cities to dwell in, —pasture land also unto the cities, round about them, shall ye give unto the Levites.

“இஸ்ரயேலர் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளப்போகும் சொத்தில் இருந்து, லேவியர் குடியிருப்பதற்கு அவர்களுக்குப் பட்டணங்களைக் கொடுக்கும்படி, இஸ்ரயேலருக்குக் கட்டளையிடு. அப்பட்டணங்களைச் சுற்றியுள்ள மேய்ச்சல் நிலங்களையும் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

3 So shall the cities be theirs, to dwell in, —and their pasture lands, shall, be for their cattle and for their goods and for all their beasts.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வாழ்வதற்குப் பட்டணங்களும், அவர்களுடைய மாட்டு மந்தைகளுக்கும், ஆட்டு மந்தைகளுக்கும் மற்றும் வளர்ப்பு மிருகங்களுக்குமான மேய்ச்சல் நிலங்களும் அவர்களுக்கு இருக்கும்.

4 And, the pasture lands of the cities which ye shall give unto the Levite, shall be, —from the wall of the city, and outwards, a thousand cubits round about

“நீங்கள் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்க இருக்கும் பட்டணங்களைச் சுற்றியுள்ள மேய்ச்சல் நிலங்கள் பட்டண மதிலில் இருந்து சுற்றிலும் ஆயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு அடிவரை விசாலமுள்ளதாயிருக்கவேண்டும்.

5 So ye shall measure—on the outside of the city—the eastward quarter two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter two thousand by the cubit and the north quarter two thousand by the cubit, with, the city, in the midst. This, shall be unto them the pasture lands of the cities,

பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கிழக்குப் பக்கமாக மூவாயிரம் அடியையும், தெற்குப் பக்கமாக மூவாயிரம் அடியையும், மேற்குப் பக்கமாக மூவாயிரம் அடியையும், வடக்குப் பக்கமாக மூவாயிரம் அடியையும் பட்டணம் நடுவில் இருக்கக்கூடியதாக அளக்கவேண்டும். பட்டணங்களுக்கான மேய்ச்சல் நிலமாக அவர்கள் இந்நிலப்பரப்பை வைத்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.

6 And, among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall give that the manslayer may flee thither, —and besides them, ye shall give, forty-two cities,

“லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்க இருக்கும் பட்டணங்களில் ஆறு பட்டணங்கள் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணங்களாயிருக்கவேண்டும். எவனையாவது கொலைசெய்த ஒருவன் அங்கு தப்பியோடலாம். அத்துடன் அவர்களுக்கு வேறு நாற்பத்து இரண்டு பட்டணங்களும் கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும்.

7 All the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall be forty-eight cities, —them, and their pasture lands,

மொத்தமாக நீங்கள் லேவியருக்கு நாற்பத்தெட்டு பட்டணங்களை அவர்களுடைய மேய்ச்சல் நிலங்களுடன் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

8 And as touching the cities which ye shall give out of the possession of the sons of Israel from the many, shall ye take many, and from the few, shall ye take few, —each, according to his inheritance, which they shall inherit, shall give of his cities unto the Levites.

இஸ்ரயேலர் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும் சொத்திலிருந்து நீ லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கும் பட்டணங்கள், ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்தின் உரிமைச்சொத்தின் அளவுக்கு ஏற்றபடியே கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும். பல பட்டணங்கள் உள்ள கோத்திரத்திடமிருந்து பல பட்டணங்களையும், சில பட்டணங்கள் உள்ளவர்களிடமிருந்து சில பட்டணங்களையும் எடுக்கவேண்டும்” என்றார்.

9 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:

பின்பு யெகோவா மோசேயிடம்,

10 Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say unto them, —When ye are passing over the Jordan unto the land of Canaan,

“நீ இஸ்ரயேலரிடம் பேசிச் சொல்லவேண்டியதாவது: நீங்கள் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து கானான் நாட்டிற்குப் போகிறபோது,

11 then shall ye find for you, convenient cities, cities of refuge, shall they be unto you, —and the manslayer, who hath slain a person, by mistake, shall flee thither.

சில பட்டணங்களை அடைக்கலப் பட்டணங்களாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுங்கள். யாரையாவது தற்செயலாகக் கொலைசெய்த ஒருவன் அங்கு தப்பி ஒடலாம்.

12 So shall the cities serve you for places of refuge from the redeemer, —that the manslayer may not die, until he has stood before the assembly, for judgment,

அவை பழிவாங்குபவனிடத்திலிருந்து தப்புவதற்கான அடைக்கல இடங்களாக இருக்கும். இதனால் கொலைக்குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்ட ஒருவன் விசாரணைக்காகச் சபைக்குமுன் கொண்டுவரப்படும் முன்பாக சாகாமல் தவிர்க்கலாம்.

13 And as touching the cities which ye shall give six cities of refuge, shall there be unto you.

நீங்கள் கொடுக்கும் இந்த ஆறு பட்டணங்களும் உங்கள் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணங்களாக இருக்கும்.

14 Three of the cities, shall ye give, on this side the Jordan, and three of the cities, shall ye give in the land of Canaan, —cities of refuge, shall they be.

அதில் மூன்று பட்டணங்களை யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்திலும் மூன்று பட்டணங்கள் கானான் நாட்டிலும் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணங்களாகக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

15 For the sons of Israel and for the sojourner. and for the settler in your midst, shall these six cities serve, as places of refuge, —that any one may flee thither who hath slain a person, by mistake.

இந்த ஆறு பட்டணங்களும் இஸ்ரயேலருக்கும், அந்நியர்களுக்கும், இஸ்ரயேலில் வாழும் வேறு மக்களுக்கும் ஒரு அடைக்கல இடமாயிருக்கும். தற்செயலாகக் கொலைசெய்த எவனும் அங்கே ஓடித்தப்பலாம்.

16 If, then, with an instrument of iron, he smote him, and he died, a manslayer, he is, —a manslayer, shall surely die.

“‘ஒருவன், யாராவது ஒருவனை இரும்புப் பொருளினால் அடித்து அவன் செத்திருந்தால் அடித்தவன் கொலையாளி; அக்கொலையாளி கொல்லப்படவேண்டும்.

17 Or if with a stone thrown by hand, where-by one might die, he smote him and he died, a manslayer, he is, —the man-slayer, shall surely die,

ஒருவன் மற்றொருவனைக் கொல்லக்கூடிய பெரிய கல்லைத் தன் கையில் வைத்திருந்து, அதனால் இன்னொருவனை அடிக்கும்போது அடிபட்டவன் செத்தால், அடித்தவன் கொலையாளி. அவன் கொலைசெய்யப்பட வேண்டும்.

18 Or, if with hand-weapon of wood, wherewith one might die, he smote him and he died a manslayer, he is, —the manslayer shall surely die.

ஒருவன் இன்னொருவனைக் கொல்லக்கூடிய ஒரு பெரிய மரப்பொருளை வைத்திருந்து, அதனால் அவனை அடிக்கும்போது அடிபட்டவன் செத்தால், அடித்தவன் ஒரு கொலையாளி. அக்கொலையாளி கொல்லப்படவேண்டும்.

19 The blood-redeemer, he, shall put to death the man-slayer, —when he lighteth upon him, he, shall put him to death.

சிந்திய இரத்தத்திற்குப் பழிவாங்கும் உரிமையுடையவன் அக்கொலைகாரனைக் கொல்லவேண்டும். அவன் அக்கொலைகாரனைச் சந்திக்கும்போது, அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டும்.

20 Or if with hate, he shall thrust at him, or hurl at him designedly, and he have died,

யாராவது தீங்குசெய்யும் நோக்கத்துடன் இன்னொருவனைத் தள்ளியதனாலோ அல்லது வேண்டுமென்றே அவன்மீது எதையாவது வீசி எறிந்ததினாலோ அவன் செத்தால்,

21 or if with enmity, he hath smitten him with his hand and he is dead, then shall he that dealt the blow, be surely put to death. a manslayer, he is—the blood-redeemer shall put to death the man-slayer, when he lighteth upon him.

அல்லது பகையுடன் தன்னுடைய கையால் அடித்ததினால் செத்தால், அவன் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும். அவன் கொலைகாரன். சிந்தப்பட்ட இரத்தத்திற்காகப் பழிவாங்கும் உரிமையுடையவன் கொலைகாரனைச் சந்திக்கும்போது அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டும்.

22 But if suddenly, without enmity, he shall thrust him, or hurl upon him any missile, without design;

“‘ஆனால் பகையேதுமில்லாமல் ஒருவன் திடீரென இன்னொருவனைத் தள்ளி விடுவதனாலோ, தவறுதலாக எதையாவது அவன்மேல் எறிவதனாலோ,

23 Or with any stone whereby one might die without seeing him, and it fall upon him, and he dieth; he, not being at enmity with him, nor seeking to harm him,

அல்லது அவனைக் காணாமல் அவனைக் கொல்லக்கூடிய ஒரு பெரிய கல்லை அவன்மேல் போட்டதனாலோ அவன் செத்தால்,

24 then shall the assembly judge, between him that smote and the blood-redeemer, —according to these regulations;

அவன் இறந்தவனுடைய பகைவனாய் இராதபடியினாலும், அவன் இறந்தவனுக்குத் தீமைசெய்யும் நோக்கம் அற்றவனாய் இருந்தபடியினாலும் சபையார் அவனுக்கும், சிந்தப்பட்ட இரத்தத்திற்கான உரிமையுடையவனுக்கும் இடையில் இந்த விதிமுறைகளின்படியே நியாயந்தீர்க்கவேண்டும்.

25 and the assembly shall rescue the manslayer out of the hand of the blood-redeemer, and the assembly shall restore him unto his city of refuge whither he had fled, —and he shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who hath been anointed with the hallowing oil.

சபையார் இரத்தத்திற்காகப் பழிவாங்க உரிமையுடையவர்களிடமிருந்து குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்பட்டவனைக் காப்பாற்றுவதற்காக, அவன் தப்பியோடியிருந்த அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்திற்கு திரும்பவும் அவனை அனுப்பவேண்டும். பரிசுத்த எண்ணெயால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்பட்ட தலைமை ஆசாரியன் சாகும்வரை அவன் அங்கேயே தங்கியிருக்கவேண்டும்.

26 But if the man-slayer, go out, of the bounds of his city of refuge, whereinto he hath fled;

“‘ஆனால் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவன் தான் தப்பி இருந்த அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்தின் எல்லையைவிட்டு எப்பொழுதாவது வெளியே போகும்போது,

27 and the blood-redeemer, find him, outside the bounds of his city of refuge, then may the blood-redeemer slay the slayer, without being guilty of blood;

இரத்தத்திற்காகப் பழிவாங்க உரிமையுடையவன் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவனை எல்லைக்கு வெளியே கண்டால், அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யலாம். அவன் கொலைக்குற்றவாளி ஆகமாட்டான்.

28 for in his city of refuge, should he have remained, until the death of the high priest, —and, after the death of the high priest, might he have returned into the land which he doth possess.

ஏனெனில் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவன் தலைமை ஆசாரியன் சாகும்வரை அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்திலேயே தங்கியிருக்கவேண்டும். தலைமை ஆசாரியன் இறந்த பின்னரே குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவன் தனது சொந்த இருப்பிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போகலாம்.

29 So shall these serve you as a regulative statute unto your generations, —wheresoever ye may dwell.

“‘நீங்கள் எங்கு குடியிருந்தாலும் தலைமுறைதோறும் சட்டபூர்வமாய் செய்யப்பட வேண்டியவை இவையே:

30 Whosoever taketh away life, at the mouth of witnesses, shall, the slayer be slain, —but, one witness, shall not testify against a person, to put him to death.

“‘ஒருவனைக் கொல்லும் எவனும், சாட்சிகள் கூறும் வாக்குமூலத்தின்படி மட்டுமே கொலைகாரனாகத் தீர்க்கப்பட்டுக் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும். ஆனாலும் ஒரேயொரு சாட்சியின் வாக்குமூலத்தை மட்டும் அடிப்படையாக வைத்து ஒருவனும் கொல்லப்படக்கூடாது.

31 And ye shall accept no ransom for the life of him that slayeth, if he have unlawfully caused death, —but he, must surely be put to death.

“‘சாகவேண்டிய ஒரு கொலைகாரனின் உயிருக்காக மீட்புப்பணத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டாம். அவன் நிச்சயமாய்க் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும்.

32 And ye shall accept no ransom for him that hath fled to his city of refuge, if he should return to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.

“‘தலைமை ஆசாரியன் இறப்பதற்குமுன் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்திற்குத் தப்பியோடியிருக்கிற எவனுக்காகவும் மீட்புப்பணம் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, அவன் திரும்பிப்போய் தன் சொந்த நிலத்தில் வாழ அனுமதிக்க வேண்டாம்.

33 So shall ye not pollute the land wherein ye are, for blood, doth pollute the land, and for the land, no propitiatory-covering can be made, as touching blood, that is shed therein, save with the blood of him that shed it;

“‘நீங்கள் இருக்கும் நாட்டை அசுத்தப்படுத்த வேண்டாம். இரத்தம் சிந்துதல் நாட்டை மாசுபடுத்தும். இரத்தம் சிந்தியவனுடைய இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்துவதினாலேயே அல்லாமல், வேறு எதனாலும் இரத்தம் சிந்திய நாட்டிற்காகப் பாவநிவிர்த்தி செய்யமுடியாது.

34 thou must not then make unclean the land wherein, ye, are dwelling, in the midst of which, I, have my habitation; for, I,—Yahweh, am making my habitation in the midst of the sons of Israel.

நீங்கள் வாழ்கிறதும், நான் குடியிருக்கிறதுமான நாட்டைக் கறைப்படுத்த வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில், யெகோவாவாகிய, நான் இஸ்ரயேலரின் மத்தியில் குடியிருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.’”
