Numbers 32
1 Now, much cattle, had come into the possession of the sons of Reuben and of the sons of Gad, an exceeding mighty number. And when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, lo! the place, was a place for cattle.
Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad tenían una cantidad muy grande de ganado. Así que cuando ellos vieron que la tierra de Jazer y la tierra de Galaad era en verdad un lugar apropiado para el ganado,
2 So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came in, —and spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of assembly, saying,
fueron y hablaron a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a los jefes de la congregación:
3 As touching Ataroth and Dibon, and Jazer and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, —and Sebam and Nebo, and Beon-
Atarot, Dibón, Jazer, Nimra, Hesbón, Eleale, Sebam, Nebo y Beón.
4 the land which Yahweh smote before the assembly of Israel, a land for cattle, it is, —and, thy servants, have cattle.
La tierra que Yavé conquistó en presencia de la congregación de Israel es tierra para ganado, y tus esclavos tienen ganado.
5 And they said—If we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land be given unto thy servants, for a possession, —do not take us over the Jordan.
Por tanto, dijeron, si hallamos gracia delante de ti, rogamos que esta tierra sea dada a tus esclavos como posesión. No nos hagas cruzar el Jordán.
6 Then said Moses unto the sons of Gad and unto the sons of Reuben, —Shall, your brethren, go into the war, and ye, settle down here?
Moisés respondió a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: ¿Irán sus hermanos a la guerra, y ustedes se quedarán aquí?
7 Wherefore, then, should ye dissuade the heart of the sons of Israel, from passing over into the land which Yahweh hath given to them?
¿Por qué desaniman el corazón de los hijos de Israel para que no pasen a la tierra que Yavé les dio?
8 Thus, did your fathers, —when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea, to view the land,
Así hicieron sus antepasados cuando los envié desde Cades Barnea a explorar la tierra.
9 and they went up as far as the ravine of Eschol, and viewed the land, and then dissuaded the heart of the sons of Israel from entering into the land, which Yahweh had given them.
Subieron hasta el valle de Escol, y al ver la tierra, desanimaron el corazón de los hijos de Israel para que no entraran a la tierra que Yavé les dio.
10 Then was the anger of Yahweh kindled on that day, —and he sware, saying:
Aquel día se encendió la ira de Yavé y juró:
11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt from twenty years old and upwards, shall see the soil, which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac and unto Jacob, because they have not followed after me fully;
Los varones de 20 años para arriba que subieron de Egipto, no verán la tierra por la cual juré a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, por cuanto no fueron íntegros para seguirme,
12 save Caleb son of Jephunneh, the Kenezite, and Joshua, son of Nun, —for they followed after Yahweh, fully.
excepto Caleb, hijo de Jefone, cenezeo, y Josué, hijo de Nun, quienes con integridad siguieron a Yavé.
13 So the anger of Yahweh kindled upon Israel, and he made them wander in the desert, forty years, —until all the generation who had done the evil in the eyes of Yahweh, had wasted away!
Entonces se encendió la ira de Yavé contra Israel, y los hizo andar errantes 40 años por el desierto, hasta que se extinguió toda aquella generación que obró mal ante Yavé.
14 Lo! therefore, ye have arisen in the room of your fathers, a brood of sinful men, —to heap up yet more upon the heat of the anger of Yahweh, towards Israel.
Y miren, ustedes surgen en lugar de sus padres, una prole de hombres pecadores, para aumentar aún más el ardor de la ira de Yavé contra Israel.
15 If ye do turn away from following him, then will he yet again leave them behind in the desert, —so shall ye bring destruction upon all this people.
Si se vuelven de seguirlo a Él, otra vez volverá a dejarlos en el desierto y destruirán a todo este pueblo.
16 Then came they near unto him, and said, Folds, for flocks, would we build for our cattle, here, —and cities for our little ones;
Entonces ellos se le acercaron y dijeron: Construiremos aquí corrales para nuestro ganado y ciudades para nuestros pequeños.
17 but, we, would arm ourselves promptly, before the sons of Israel, until that we have brought them into their place, —so should our little ones remain in the fortified cities, because of the inhabitants of the land.
Pero nosotros nos armaremos e iremos con diligencia al frente de los hijos de Israel, hasta que los hayamos introducido a su lugar. En tanto nuestros pequeños vivirán en ciudades fortificadas por causa de los habitantes de la tierra.
18 We would not return unto our houses, —until the sons of Israel have possessed themselves each man, of his inheritance.
No volveremos a nuestras casas hasta que los hijos de Israel posean, cada uno, su heredad.
19 For we would not inherit with them, over the Jordan, and onwards, —because our inheritance hath come unto us on this side the Jordan towards sunrise.
No tomaremos heredad con ellos al otro lado del Jordán ni más allá, porque tendremos ya nuestra heredad en esta parte del Jordán, al oriente.
20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will indeed do this thing, —if ye will arm yourselves, before Yahweh, for the war;
Entonces Moisés les respondió: Si ustedes hacen esto, si se arman delante de Yavé para ir a la guerra,
21 and every armed man of you pass over the Jordan before Yahweh, —until he hath dispossessed his enemies, from before him;
y todos ustedes armados cruzan el Jordán delante de Yavé, hasta que Él expulse a sus enemigos de delante de Él,
22 and the land be subdued before Yahweh then afterwards, shall ye return, and shall be acquitted by Yahweh and by Israel, —and this land shall be yours for a possession before Yahweh.
y la tierra quede sometida delante de Yavé, luego se volverán. Quedarán libres de culpa ante Yavé y ante Israel, y esta tierra será de ustedes como su heredad delante de Yavé.
23 But, if ye shall not do this, lo! ye will have sinned against Yahweh, —and take note of your sin, that it will find you out.
Pero si no lo hacen así, ciertamente habrán pecado contra Yavé, y sepan que su pecado los alcanzará.
24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks, —and then that which hath gone forth from your mouth, ye shall do.
Construyan, pues, ciudades para sus pequeños, corrales para sus rebaños y hagan lo que declaró su boca.
25 Then spake the sons of Gad, and the sons of Reuben unto Moses, saying, —thy servants, will do, as, my lord, is giving command.
Entonces los hijos de Gad y los de Rubén hablaron a Moisés: Tus esclavos haremos lo que mandaste tú, nuestro ʼadón.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts, shall remain there in the cities of Gilead;
Nuestros pequeños, nuestras esposas, nuestro ganado y todos nuestros animales quedarán aquí en las ciudades de Galaad.
27 and thy servants, will pass over every one armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, —as, my lord is speaking.
Pero tus esclavos, armados todos para la batalla, pasaremos delante de Yavé a la guerra, de la manera como dices tú, nuestro ʼadón.
28 So Moses gave command concerning them, unto Eleazar the priest and unto Joshua son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes, of the sons of Israel;
Entonces Moisés los encomendó al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de familia de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.
29 and Moses said unto them—If the sons of Gad and the son of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every one armed for the war before Yahweh, and the land be subdued before you, then shall ye give unto them the land of Gilead, for a possession.
Moisés les dijo: Si los hijos de Gad y los de Rubén cruzan con ustedes el Jordán, armados todos para la guerra, delante de Yavé, y la tierra es sometida a ustedes, les darán la tierra de Galaad como posesión,
30 But, if they will not pass over armed, with you, then shall they accept a possession in your midst, in the land of Canaan.
pero si no pasan armados con ustedes, entonces tendrán heredad en medio de ustedes en la tierra de Canaán.
31 Then responded the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, saying, —That which Yahweh had spoken unto thy servants, so, will we do.
Los hijos de Gad y los de Rubén respondieron: Haremos lo que Yavé habló a tus esclavos.
32 We, will pass over armed, before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, —then shall be ours, the possession of our inheritance across the Jordan.
Nosotros pasaremos armados delante de Yavé a la tierra de Canaán, pero la propiedad de nuestra heredad estará a este lado del Jordán.
33 So then Moses gave unto them even unto the sons of Gad and unto the sons of Reuben and unto the half tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, the land by her cities with boundaries, even the cities of the land round about.
Moisés dio a los hijos de Gad y a los de Rubén y a la media tribu de Manasés, hijo de José: el reino de Sehón, rey amorreo, y el reino de Og, rey de Basán, la tierra con sus ciudades, con sus territorios, y las ciudades de la tierra circundante.
34 And the sons of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, —and Aroer;
Los hijos de Gad construyeron Dibón, Atarot, Aroer,
35 and Atroth-shophan and Jazer, and Jogbehah;
Atarot-sofán, Jazer y Jogbeha,
36 and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, —fortified cities and folds for flocks.
Bet-nimra y Bet-arán, ciudades fortificadas, y también corrales para el rebaño.
37 And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, —and Kiriathaim,
Los hijos de Rubén construyeron Hesbón, Eleale, Quiriataim,
38 and Nebo and Baal-meon—their names being changed, and Sibmah, —and they gave names to the cities which they built.
Nebo y Baal-meón (cambiadas de nombre), y Sibma. Y llamaron por sus nombres las ciudades que reedificaron.
39 Then went the sons of Machir son of Manasseh to Gilead, and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein,
También los hijos de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, fueron a Galaad, la capturaron y desposeyeron a los amorreos que estaban en ella.
40 So Moses gave Gilead unto Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelt therein.
Moisés dio Galaad a Maquir, hijo de Manasés, y vivió en ella.
41 And Jair, son of Manasseh, went, and captured their encampments, —and called them Havvoth-jair ["The encampments of Jair"].
También Jaír, hijo de Manasés fue y se apoderó de sus aldeas, y les puso el nombre Javot-Jaír.
42 And, Nobah, went, and captured Kenath, with the villages thereof, —and called it Nobah, after his own name.
También Noba fue y capturó Quenat y sus aldeas, y conforme a su nombre la llamó Noba.
