Numbers 23
1 Then said Balaam unto Balak: Build me here seven altars, —and prepare me here, seven bullocks and seven rams.
૧બલામે બાલાકને કહ્યું, “અહીં મારે માટે સાત વેદીઓ બાંધ અને સાત બળદ તથા સાત ઘેટાં તૈયાર કર.”
2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken, —and Balak and Balaam caused to ascend a bullock and a ram on each altar.
૨જેમ બલામે વિનંતી કરી હતી તેમ બાલાકે કર્યું. બાલાક તથા બલામે દરેક વેદી પર એક બળદ તથા એક ઘેટાંનું બલિદાન ચઢાવ્યું.
3 Then said Balaam unto Balak: Station thyself by thine ascending-sacrifice, and let me go my way—peradventure Yahweh may come and meet me, and what thing soever he may show me, I will tell thee. So he went his way to a bare height.
૩બલામે બાલાકને કહ્યું, “તું “તારા દહનીયાર્પણ પાસે ઊભો રહે અને હું જાઉ છું. કદાચ યહોવાહ મને મળવા આવશે. તેઓ જે કંઈ મને કહેશે તે હું તને કહીશ.” પછી તે એક ઉજ્જડ ટેકરી પર ગયો.
4 And God came unto Balaam, —so he said unto him The seven altars, have I built in a row, and have caused to ascend, bullock and a ram on each altar.
૪ઈશ્વર તેને મળ્યા અને બલામે યહોવાહને કહ્યું, “મેં સાત વેદીઓ બાંધી છે અને દરેક પર એક બળદ અને એક ઘેટાંનું બલિદાન ચઢાવ્યું છે.”
5 And Yahweh put a word into the mouth of Balaam, —and said—Return unto Balak, and, thus, shalt thou speak.
૫પછી યહોવાહે બલામના મુખમાં વચન મૂક્યું અને કહ્યું, “તું બાલાક પાસે પાછો જા અને તેને કહે.”
6 So he returned unto him, and lo! he was stationed by his ascending-sacrifice, —he, and all the princes of Moab.
૬બલામ બાલાક પાસે પાછો ગયો. જુઓ તે તથા મોઆબના બધા વડીલો તેના દહનીયાર્પણની પાસે ઊભા હતા.
7 So he took up his parable and said, —From Aram, doth Balak conduct me, The king of Moab, from the mountains of the East, Come thou! curse me Jacob, Yea, come thou! rage on Israel.
૭બલામે ભવિષ્યવાણી બોલીને કહ્યું, “મોઆબનો રાજા પૂર્વના પર્વતોમાંથી એટલે અરામથી બાલાક મને લાવ્યો છે. ‘તેણે કહ્યું, આવ, મારે માટે યાકૂબને શાપ દે.’ ‘આવ, ઇઝરાયલને તુચ્છકાર.’
8 How can I revile one whom GOD hath not reviled? Yea, how can I rage on one on whom Yahweh hath not raged?
૮જેને ઈશ્વર શાપ આપતા નથી તેને હું કેવી રીતે શાપ આપું? યહોવાહ જેને તુચ્છકારતા નથી તેને હું કેવી રીતે તુચ્છકારું?
9 Surely from the head of the rocks, do I see him, Yea, from the hills, do I observe him, —Lo! a people, who alone doth dwell, And among the nations, he doth not reckon himself.
૯કેમ કે ખડકોના શિખર પરથી હું તેને જોઈ શકું છું; ટેકરીઓ પરથી હું તેને જોઉં છું. જુઓ, ત્યાં એકલા રહેનારા લોકો છે અને પોતાની જાતને સાધારણ પ્રજા ગણતા નથી.
10 Who hath counted the dust of Jacob? Or who hath numbered the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the upright, And let my hereafter be like his!
૧૦યાકૂબની ધૂળને કોણ ગણી શકે અથવા ઇઝરાયલના ચતુર્થાંશની કોણ ગણતરી કરી શકે? મારું મૃત્યુ ન્યાયી વ્યક્તિના જેવું થાઓ, અને મારા જીવનનો અંત પણ તેના જેવો થાઓ!”
11 Then said Balak unto Balaam, What hast thou done for me? To revile mine enemies, I summoned thee, and lo! thou hast kept on blessing.
૧૧બાલાકે બલામને કહ્યું, “આ તેં મારી સાથે શું કર્યું છે? મેં તને મારા દુશ્મનોને શાપ આપવા બોલાવ્યો, પણ જો, તેં તેઓને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો.”
12 And he answered and said, —Was it not to be so that whatsoever Yahweh should put into my mouth, the same, should I take heed to speak?
૧૨બલામે જવાબ આપીને કહ્યું, “યહોવાહ મારા મુખમાં જે વચન મૂકે તે બોલવાને મારે સંભાળ ન રાખવી?”
13 Then said Balak unto him—Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see him, nothing but his utmost part, shalt thou see, but all of him, shalt thou not see, —and so revile me him from thence.
૧૩ત્યાર પછી બાલાકે તેને કહ્યું, “કૃપા કરી મારી સાથે બીજી જગ્યાએ આવ કે જ્યાં તું તેઓને જોઈ શકે. તું ફક્ત તેઓના નજીકના ભાગને જોઈ શકશે, તેઓ બધાને તું નહિ દેખે. ત્યાંથી તું તેઓને મારા માટે શાપ દે.”
14 And he took him to the field of Zophim, unto the head of Pisgah, —and built seven altars, and caused to ascend a bullock and a ram on each altar.
૧૪તે બલામને પિસ્ગાહ પર્વતની શિખરે આવેલા સોફીમના ખેતરમાં લઈ ગયો, ત્યાં તેણે સાત વેદીઓ બાંધી. દરેક વેદી ઉપર એક બળદ અને એક ઘેટાંનું બલિદાન ચઢાવ્યું.
15 Then said he to Balak, Station thyself here by thine ascending-sacrifice, —while, I, meet him yonder.
૧૫બલામે બાલાકને કહ્યું, “અહીં તારા દહનીયાર્પણ પાસે ઊભો રહે, હું યહોવાહને મળવા ત્યાં ઉપર જાઉ છું.”
16 And Yahweh met Balaam, and put a word into his mouth, —and said—Return unto Balak and thus shalt thou speak.
૧૬યહોવાહ બલામને મળવા આવ્યા અને તેના મુખમાં વચન મૂક્યું. તેમણે કહ્યું, “બાલાક પાસે પાછો જા અને મારું વચન તેને આપ.”
17 So he came in unto him and, there he was-stationed by his ascending-sacrifice, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath Yahweh spoken?
૧૭બલામ તેની પાસે પાછો આવ્યો, તો જુઓ, તે તથા મોઆબના વડીલો તેની સાથે તેના દહનીયાર્પણ પાસે ઊભા હતા. ત્યારે બાલાકે તેને પૂછ્યું, “યહોવાહે તને શું કહ્યું છે?”
18 Then took he up his parable and said, —Rise, Balak, and hear, Give ear unto me son of Zippor!
૧૮બલામે તેની ભવિષ્યવાણીની શરૂઆત કરી. તેને કહ્યું, “બાલાક ઊઠ, અને સાંભળ. હે સિપ્પોરના દીકરા, મને સાંભળ.
19 GOD is, not a man, that he should lie, Nor a son of Adam, that he should repent, —Hath, he, said, and will not perform? Yea spoken, and will not make it stand fast?
૧૯ઈશ્વર મનુષ્ય નથી કે તે જૂઠું બોલે, અથવા માણસ નથી કે તે પોતાનું મન બદલે. તે પોતાનું વચન પૂરું નહિ કરે? પોતાનું બોલવું પૂરું નહિ કરે?
20 Lo! to bless, have I received [command], —And I will bless, nor will I take it back.
૨૦જુઓ, આશીર્વાદ આપવાની આજ્ઞા મને મળી છે. ઈશ્વરે તેઓને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો છે તે હું ફેરવી શકતો નથી.
21 He hath not discovered trouble in Jacob, Neither hath he seen wretchedness in Israel, —Yahweh, his God, is with him, And, the acclaim of a king, in his midst:
૨૧તેઓએ યાકૂબમાં કઈ જ ખોટું જોયું નથી. કે ઇઝરાયલમાં મુશ્કેલી જોઈ નથી. યહોવાહ તેઓના ઈશ્વર તેઓની સાથે છે, અને તેઓની વચ્ચે રાજાનો જયજયકાર છે.
22 GOD having brought them forth out of Egypt, The very horns of the buffalo, are his:
૨૨ઈશ્વર તેઓને મિસરમાંથી બહાર લાવ્યા છે, અને જંગલી બળદ જેવી તાકાત આપે છે.
23 Surely, there is no enchantment against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, —Now, shall it be said—Of Jacob and of Israel, What hath GOD wrought!
૨૩યાકૂબ વિરુદ્ધ કોઈ મંત્રતંત્ર નહિ ચાલે, ઇઝરાયલ પર કંઈ પણ મંત્રવિદ્યા ચાલશે નહિ. ઇઝરાયલ તથા યાકૂબ વિષે કહેવાશે કે, ‘જુઓ ઈશ્વરે કેવું કર્યું છે!’
24 Lo, a people, like a lioness, shall rise, And like a strong lion, shall rouse himself up; He will not lie down till he eat the torn, And the blood of the slain, he drink.
૨૪જુઓ, લોકો સિંહણની જેમ ઊઠે છે, જેમ સિંહ બહાર નીકળીને હુમલો કરે છે. તે મારેલો શિકાર ખાય અને તેનું રક્ત પીવે નહિ ત્યાં સુધી તે સૂઈ જશે નહિ.”
25 Then said Balak unto Balaam, Thou shalt neither revile, him, —nor bless him.
૨૫પછી બાલાકે બલામને કહ્યું, “તેઓને શાપ ન દે તેમ જ આશીર્વાદ પણ ન આપ.”
26 And Balaam responded, and said unto Balak, —Spake I not unto thee, saying, All that Yahweh shall speak, that, must I do?
૨૬પણ બલામે બાલાકને જવાબ આપીને કહ્યું, “શું મેં તને કહ્યું ન હતું કે યહોવાહ મને જે કહેશે તે જ હું કહીશ.”
27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee! let me take thee unto another place, —peradventure, it may be right in the eyes of God, that thou revile me him. from thence.
૨૭બાલાકે બલામને જવાબ આપ્યો, “હવે આવ, હું તને બીજી જગ્યાએ લઈ જાઉં. કદાચ ઈશ્વર પ્રસન્ન થાય અને ત્યાંથી તું તેઓને મારે સારુ શાપ આપે.”
28 So Balak took Balaam, —unto the head of Peor, that looketh over the face of the Jeshimon.
૨૮બાલાક બલામને પેઓર પર્વતના શિખર પર લઈ ગયો, જ્યાંથી અરણ્ય જોઈ શકાતું હતું.
29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here, seven altars, —and prepare me here, seven bullocks and seven rams.
૨૯બલામે બાલાકને કહ્યું, “અહીં મારે સારુ સાત વેદી બાંધી આપ અને સાત બળદ તથા સાત ઘેટાં તૈયાર કર.”
30 And Balak did as Balaam said, —and caused to ascend a bullock and a ram on each altar.
૩૦જેમ બલામે કહ્યું તેમ બાલાકે કર્યું, તેણે દરેક વેદી પર એક બળદ તથા એક ઘેટાંનું બલિદાન ચઢાવ્યું.
