< Numbers 20 >
1 Then came the sons of Israel the whole assembly, into the desert of Zin in the first month, and the people dwelt in Kadesh, —and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
Mu mwezi ogw’olubereberye, ekibiina kyonna eky’abaana ba Isirayiri, ne batuuka mu ddungu lya Zini, ne batuula mu Kadesi. Miryamu n’afiira eyo, era gye yaziikibwa.
2 And there was no water for the assembly, —so they gathered together against Moses and against Aaron.
Awo ekibiina kyonna ne kitaba na mazzi. Abantu bonna ne beekuŋŋanyiza ku Musa ne Alooni.
3 And the people contended with Moses, —and spake saying, Would then we had died when our brethren died, before Yahweh!
Ne bayombesa Musa nga bagamba nti, “Singa nno naffe twafa, baganda baffe bwe baafiira mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda!
4 Wherefore then hast thou brought the convocation of Yahweh into this desert, —to die there, we, and our cattle?
Lwaki waleeta ekibiina kya Mukama Katonda kino mu ddungu tulyoke tufiire wano n’ebisibo byaffe?
5 And wherefore did ye cause us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us into this wretched place?—not a place of seeds, and figs, and vines and pomegranates, even water, is there none to drink.
Lwaki watuggya mu nsi y’e Misiri okutuleeta mu kifo kino ekibi bwe kiti? Tekiriimu mmere ya mpeke wadde ttiini, so si kifo kya mizabbibu, so si kya mikomamawanga. Tewali na mazzi ge tuyinza kunywako!”
6 And Moses and Aaron went in from the presence of the multitude unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces, —and the glory of Yahweh appeared unto them.
Awo Musa ne Alooni ne bava mu maaso g’ekibiina ky’abantu ne balaga ku mulyango gwa Weema ey’Okukuŋŋaanirangamu, ne bavuunama wansi. Ekitiibwa kya Mukama Katonda ne kibalabikira.
7 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa nti,
8 Take the staff and gather together the assembly, thou, and Aaron thy brother, then shall ye speak unto the cliff before their eyes and it shall give forth its waters, —so shalt thou bring forth unto them water, out of the cliff, and shalt cause the assembly, and their cattle to drink.
“Twala omuggo, ggwe ne muganda wo Alooni mukuŋŋaanye ekibiina kyonna. Lagira olwazi nga n’ekibiina kyonna kiraba, lujja kufukumula amazzi. Bw’otyo obaggire amazzi mu lwazi, basobole okunywako, era banywese n’ebisibo byabwe.”
9 And Moses took the staff from before Yahweh, —as he commanded him.
Musa n’aggya omuggo awali Mukama n’agutwala nga Mukama Katonda bwe yamulagira.
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered together the convocation before the cliff, —and he said unto them: Hear I pray you ye rebels! Out of this cliff, must we bring forth for you water?
Musa ne Alooni ne bakuŋŋanyiza ekibiina ky’abantu bonna awali olwazi, Musa n’agamba abantu nti, “Mumpulirize, mmwe abajeemu; kitugwanidde ffe okubaggyira amazzi mu lwazi luno?”
11 And Moses lifted high his hand and smote the cliff with his staff, twice, —and there came forth water in abundance, and the assembly and their cattle, did drink.
Awo Musa n’ayimusa omukono gwe n’akuba olwazi n’omuggo gwe emirundi ebiri. Amazzi mangi ne gafukumuka okuva mu lwazi, abantu bonna mu kibiina ne banywa, n’ebisibo byabwe nabyo ne binywa.
12 Then said Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, Because ye believed not in me, to hallow me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore, shall ye not bring in this convocation into the land which I have given unto them.
Naye Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa ne Alooni nti, “Olwokubanga temunneesize, ne mutampa kitiibwa, ne mutalaga kibiina kino eky’abaana ba Isirayiri nga bwe ndi omutukuvu, noolwekyo temugenda kutuusa kibiina ky’abantu bano mu nsi gye mbasuubizza okubawa.”
13 The same, were the waters of Meribah [that is "Contention"] in that the sons of Israel contended with Yahweh, —and so he hallowed himself among them.
Ago ge mazzi ag’e Meriba, abaana ba Isirayiri gye baayombera ne Mukama, era ne Mukama Katonda gye yeeragira mu bo nga mutukuvu.
14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh, unto the king of Edom, —Thus, saith thy brother Israel, Thou thyself, knowest all the distress which befell us;
Musa yatumira Kabaka wa Edomu ababaka ng’asinziira e Kadesi ng’amugamba nti, “Muganda wo Isirayiri agamba bw’ati nti: Ebizibu byonna ebyatutuukako obimanyi.
15 and how our fathers went down to Egypt, and we abode in Egypt, many days, and that the Egyptians ill-treated us, and our fathers;
Omanyi nga bajjajjaffe bwe baaserengeta mu Misiri, ne tumalayo emyaka mingi. Abamisiri ne bayisa bubi bakadde baffe, era naffe;
16 and we made outcry unto Yahweh, and he heard our voice, and sent a messenger, and brought us forth out of Egypt, —lo! then, we, are in Kadesh, a city at the extremity of thy boundary,
naye bwe twakaabirira Mukama Katonda, yawulira okukaaba kwaffe, n’atutumira malayika n’atuggya mu nsi y’e Misiri. Kaakano tuli wano mu Kadesi, ekibuga ekiri ku nsalo n’ensi yo.
17 Let us, we pray thee, pass through thy land—we will not pass through field or vineyard, nor will we drink the waters of a well, —by the king’s road, will we go—we will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left, until we get through thy boundary.
“Nkwegayirira otukkirize tuyite mu nsi yo. Tetuliyita mu birime wadde mu nnimiro z’emizabbibu, era tetugenda kunywa na ku mazzi agali mu nzizi. Tugenda kutambulira mu Luguudo lwa Kabaka Olunene, era tetugenda kuluvaamu kukyamako ku ludda olwa kkono oba olwa ddyo okutuusa nga tumaze okuva mu nsi yo.”
18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through my land, —lest with the sword, I come out to meet thee.
Naye Edomu n’addamu nti, “Tojja kuyita wano, bw’onookikola tujja kwesowolayo tukulumbe n’ekitala.”
19 And the sons of Israel said unto him—By the highway, will we go up, and if thy waters, we should drink—I, and my cattle then would I give the price thereof, —only—it is nothing!—with my feet, would I pass through.
Abaana ba Isirayiri ne baddamu nti, “Tujja kwambukira mu luguudo olunene mwokka, era ebisibo byaffe naffe bwe tunaanywa ku mazzi gammwe tujja kugasasulira. Twagala kuyitawo buyisi nga tutambuza bigere, tetwetaagayo kirala.”
20 And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out to meet him, with a strong people, and with a firm hand.
Naye Edomu n’addamu nti, “Temuyitawo.” Edomu ne yeesowolayo n’eggye ddene nnyo era nga lya maanyi.
21 Thus did Edom refuse to give Israel passage through his boundary, —and Israel turned away from him.
Bw’atyo Edomu n’agaana Isirayiri okuyitira mu matwale ge, Isirayiri n’amuviira.
22 Then set they forward from Kadesh, —and the sons of Israel. all the assembly, came in to Mount Hor.
Awo ekibiina kyonna eky’abaana ba Isirayiri ne basitula okuva e Kadesi, ne batuuka ku lusozi Koola.
23 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron in Mount Hor, —near the boundary of the land of Edom saying:
Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa ne Alooni, nga bali ku lusozi Koola okuliraana n’ensalo y’ensi ya Edomu, nti,
24 Aaron shall be withdrawn unto his kinsfolk, for he shall not enter into the land. which I have given unto the sons of Israel, —because ye spurned my bidding, at the waters of Meribah.
“Alooni ajja kugenda abantu be bonna gye baalaga, kubanga tagenda kuyingira mu nsi gye nzija okuwa abaana ba Isirayiri. Kubanga mwembi mwajeemera ekiragiro kyange ku mazzi ag’e Meriba.
25 Take thou Aaron, and Eleazar his son, —and bring them up Mount Hor;
Leeta Alooni ne mutabani we Eriyazaali, obaleete ku lusozi Koola;
26 and strip thou Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son, —and, Aaron, shall be withdrawn and shall die there.
Alooni omwambulemu ebyambalo bye, obyambaze Eriyazaali mutabani we, kubanga Alooni ajja kufa agende abantu be bonna gye baalaga.”
27 And Moses did as Yahweh commanded, —and they went up into, Mount Hor, in sight of all the assembly.
Musa n’akola nga Mukama bwe yamulagira; ne balinnya olusozi Koola ng’abantu bonna mu kibiina balaba.
28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them upon Eleazar his son, and Aaron died there, in the top of the mount, —and Moses and Eleazar came down out of the mount.
Musa n’ayambulamu Alooni ebyambalo, n’abyambaza Eriyazaali mutabani wa Alooni. Alooni n’afiira awo ku ntikko y’olusozi. Musa ne Eriyazaali ne baserengeta ne bakka wansi w’olusozi.
29 And all the assembly saw that Aaron was dead; and they bewailed Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
Abantu bonna mu kibiina bwe bategeera nga Alooni afudde, ab’omu nnyumba ya Isirayiri bonna ne bakungubagira Alooni okumala ennaku amakumi asatu.
