< Numbers 14 >

1 Then did all the assembly lift up, and give forth their voice, —and the people wept throughout that night.
Afei, nnipa no nyinaa firii aseɛ suu dendeenden anadwo no nyinaa.
2 And all the sons of Israel, murmured against Moses and against Aaron, —and all the assembly said unto them—Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt, Or in this wilderness, oh that we had died!
Wɔde nne korɔ kasa tiaa Mose ne Aaron. Wɔsuu sɛ, “Sɛ yɛwuwuu wɔ Misraim anaa ɛserɛ so ha a, anka yɛpɛ no saa ara
3 Wherefore then is Yahweh bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones, will become a prey! Would it not be well for us to go back towards Egypt?

4 And they said, one to another, —Let us appoint a head and let us go back towards Egypt.
Saa asɛm yi dii wɔn nyinaa tirim dɛm. Enti wɔteaam sɛ, “Momma yɛnyi ɔpanin bi na ɔnni yɛn anim nsane mfa yɛn nkɔ Misraim.”
5 Then did Moses and Aaron fall upon their faces, —before all the convocation of the assembly of the sons of Israel.
Afei, Mose ne Aaron de wɔn anim butubutuu fam wɔ Israelfoɔ no anim.
6 But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh, of them who spied out the land, rent their clothes;

na wɔka kyerɛɛ nnipa no nyinaa sɛ, “Asase a ɛda yɛn anim no yɛ asase pa.
8 If Yahweh delight in us, then will he bring us into this land, and give it unto us, —A land which doth flow with milk and honey.

10 But when all the assembly bade stone them with stones, the glory of Yahweh, appeared, in the tent of meeting, unto all the sons of Israel.
Nanso mmuaeɛ a nnipa no maeɛ ara ne sɛ, wɔbɛsi wɔn aboɔ. Afei, Awurade animuonyam baeɛ
11 Then said Yahweh unto Moses How long! must this people, despise me? And how long can they not believe in me. in view of all the signs which I have done in their midst?
na Awurade bisaa Mose sɛ, “Nnipa yi bɛbu me animtia akɔsi da bɛn? Anwanwadeɛ dodoɔ a mayɛ akyerɛ wɔn yi nyinaa akyi no, wɔnnye me nni?
12 Let me smite them with pestilence, and disinherit them, —And make thee into a nation greater and more mighty than they!
Mɛgye wɔn nsam nneɛma a mede ama wɔn nyinaa na mama ɔyaredɔm asɛe wɔn na mayɛ mo ɔman kɛseɛ a ɛso sene wɔn!”
13 Then said Moses unto Yahweh, —So shall the Egyptians hear, For thou hast brought up. in thy might, this people out of their midst;
Mose srɛɛ Awurade sɛ, “Na sɛ Misraimfoɔ yi te a, ɛdeɛn asɛm na wɔbɛdwene? Wɔn nyinaa hunuu tumi a wonam so de gyee wo nkurɔfoɔ.
14 And will tell it unto the inhabitants of this land: They have heard, That, thou, Yahweh, art in the midst of this people, —That eye to eye, is he seen—thou, Yahweh, And thy cloud, is standing over them, And in a pillar of cloud, thou thyself, art going on before them by day, And in a pillar of fire, by night.
Wɔaka saa asɛm yi akyerɛ wɔn a wɔte asase yi so a wɔnim, Awurade, sɛ wowɔ Israel afa, na wo ne wɔn kasa anim ne anim. Wɔhunu omununkum dum ne ogya sɛ ɛgyina yɛn atifi, na wɔnim sɛ wodi yɛn anim bɔ yɛn ho ban awia ne anadwo.
15 As soon, therefore, as thou hast put to death this people as one man, so soon will the nations who have heard thy fame speak saying:
Na sɛ wokum wo nkurɔfoɔ nyinaa a, aman a wɔate wo din no bɛka sɛ,
16 Because Yahweh, was not able, to bring in this people into the land which he had sworn unto them, therefore did he slay them in the desert.
‘ɛsɛ sɛ Awurade kum wɔn, ɛfiri sɛ, wantumi anhwɛ wɔn so wɔ ɛserɛ so hɔ. Ɔnni ahoɔden a ɔnam so bɛtumi de wɔn aba asase a ɔkaa ho ntam sɛ ɔde bɛma wɔn no so.’
17 Now, therefore, I beseech thee let the might of My Lord, be magnified, —according as thou didst speak saying:
“Ao, mesrɛ wo, fa wo tumi kɛseɛ a ntoboaseɛ wɔ mu no so fa yɛn bɔne kyɛ yɛn, na dɔ yɛn yie. Ɛwom sɛ woaka sɛ,
18 Yahweh—slow to anger and great in lovingkindness, Forgiving iniquity and transgression: Though he will not leave, wholly unpunished, Visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons, Upon a third generation, and upon a fourth.
‘Awurade bo kyɛre fu na nʼadɔeɛ dɔɔso. Nanso ɔbɔnefoɔ remfa ne ho nni a wɔntwe nʼaso; nanso, fa yɛn bɔne kyɛ yɛn. Yɛnim sɛ wonam agyanom bɔne so twee wɔn mma a wɔwɔ awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ mmiɛnsa ne nan mu no aso.’
19 Pardon I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people, According to the greatness of thy lovingkindness, —And according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even thus far.
Ao, mesrɛ wo, fa saa nnipa yi bɔne kyɛ wɔn, ɛfiri sɛ, wo dɔ enti, wode wɔn bɔne akyɛ wɔn firi Misraim abɛsi saa ɛberɛ yi.”
20 And Yahweh said, I have pardoned according to thy word;
Awurade kaa sɛ, “Ɛyɛ, mede bɛkyɛ wɔn sɛdeɛ woabisa no.
21 Nevertheless as I live, —and that all the earth may be filled with the glory of Yahweh,
Nanso, sɛ mete ase yi, na Awurade animuonyam ahyɛ asase nyinaa ma yi,
22 Verily, none of the men who have been beholding my glory and my signs, which I have done in Egypt and in the desert, —and have put me to the proof these ten times, and have not hearkened unto my voice,

Wɔrenhunu asase a mede hyɛɛ wɔn agyanom bɔ no. Wɔn a wɔyɛɛ asoɔden kyerɛɛ me no mu biara rensi hɔ.
24 But my servant Caleb—because there was another spirit with him, and he followed me fully, therefore will I bring him into the land whereinto he entered, and his seed, shall possess it.
Nanso, mʼakoa Kaleb yɛ onipa sononko. Wadi me nsɛm so pɛpɛɛpɛ. Mede no bɛkɔ asase a ɔkɔɔ so sɛ ɔkwansrafoɔ no, na nʼasefoɔ anya ɛhɔ mu kyɛfa.
25 Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are dwelling in the valley, —to-morrow, turn ye away; and set yourselves forward towards the desert by the way of the Red Sea.
Nanso, ɛsiane sɛ Israelfoɔ suro Amalekfoɔ na Kanaanfoɔ tete bɔnhwa mu no enti, ɔkyena, ɛsɛ sɛ mosane de mo ani kyerɛ Po Kɔkɔɔ no kɔ ɛserɛ so.”
26 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
Awurade bisaa Mose ne Aaron sɛ,
27 How long, as regardeth this evil assembly, are they to be murmuring against me? The murmuring of the sons of Israel which, they, have been murmuring against me, have I heard,
“Da bɛn na saa nnipa bɔnefoɔ yi bɛgyae me ho nkɔmmɔdie? Na mate nsɛm a wɔka fa me ho nyinaa.
28 Say unto them: As I live, is the oracle of Yahweh: Surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so, will I do unto you: —
Ka kyerɛ wɔn sɛ, ‘Awurade ka ntam sɛ ɔbɛyɛ deɛ mosuro.
29 In this desert, shall your dead bodies fall And none of you who were numbered in all your counting, from twenty years old and upwards, —who have murmured against me,
Mo nyinaa mobɛwuwu wɔ ɛserɛ so ha: Ɛfiri wɔn a wɔadi mfeɛ aduonu rekorɔ no a wɔadi me ho nkɔmmɔ no,
30 none of you, shall enter into the land, as to which I uplifted my hand to give you an abode therein, —save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun:
wɔn mu biara renkɔ Bɔhyɛ Asase no so. Wɔn a wɔbɛkɔ hɔ ara ne Yefune babarima Kaleb ne Nun babarima Yosua.
31 whereas, your little ones, of whom ye said, they should become, a prey, I will bring them in, and they shall acknowledge the land which ye refused.
Moka sɛ mo mma bɛyɛ nnipa a wɔte asase no so no nkoa. Ɛyɛ, mede wɔn bɛkɔ asase no so dwoodwoo ama wɔakɔfa deɛ mose mompɛ no.
32 But, your own dead bodies, shall fall in this desert;
Na mo deɛ, mo amu na ɛbɛka ɛserɛ so ha.
33 and your sons, shall be shepherds in the desert forty years, and shall bear your unchastities, —until your dead bodies are consumed in the desert.
Ɛsɛ sɛ mokyini ɛserɛ so ha sɛ atutenafoɔ mfeɛ aduanan. Saa ɛkwan yi so na mobɛfa atua mo gyidie a monni ho ka kɔsi sɛ onipa a ɔtwa toɔ no bɛwu atɔ ɛserɛ so ha.
34 By the number of the days wherein ye spied out the land—forty days, each day for a year, shall they bear your iniquities—forty years, —so shall ye know my opposition.
Esiane sɛ akwansrafoɔ no tenaa asase no so adaduanan no enti, ɛsɛ sɛ mo nso mokyinkyini ɛserɛ no so mfeɛ aduanan a afe biara gyina hɔ ma ɛda koro a ɛyɛ mo bɔne so akatua. Sɛ meyɛ obi ɔtamfoɔ a mobɛhunu sɛdeɛ ɛteɛ.’
35 I—Yahweh, have spoken, Verily this, will I do to all this evil assembly, who have conspired against me, —In this desert, shall they be consumed And there, shall they die.
Me, Awurade, na makasa. Mo mu biara a wayɛ dɔm atia me no bɛwu wɔ ɛserɛ so ha.”
36 Now as for the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, —who returned and caused all the assembly to murmur against him by giving out a rumour against the land,
Akwansrafoɔ edu no a wɔbɔɔ nnipa no hu ma wɔyɛɛ dɔm tiaa Awurade no,
37 they died—the men who gave out an evil rumour of the land, —by the plague, before Yahweh.
wɔkunkumm wɔn wɔ Awurade anim.
38 But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh! remained alive—of those men who went to spy out the land.
Akwansrafoɔ no nyinaa, Kaleb ne Yosua nko ara na wɔtenaa ase.
39 And Moses spake these words unto all the sons of Israel, and the people were greatly depressed.
Mose kɔkaa nsɛm a Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ no no kyerɛɛ nnipa no no, wɔn nyinaa werɛ hoeɛ.
40 So they arose early in the morning, and went up into the top of the mountain, saying, —We are here—therefore will we go up into the place as to which Yahweh hath said that we have sinned.
Wɔsɔree anɔpahema sɛ wɔrekɔ Bɔhyɛ Asase no so. Wɔkaa sɛ, “Yɛahunu sɛ yɛayɛ bɔne, nanso, yɛasiesie yɛn ho sɛ yɛbɛkɔ asase a Awurade hyɛɛ yɛn ho bɔ no so.”
41 But Moses said, Wherefore is it that, ye, are going beyond the bidding of Yahweh, —since that cannot prosper?
Nanso, Mose kaa sɛ, “Aka akyi. Afei, morebu Awurade asɛm a ɔkaa sɛ monsane nkɔ ɛserɛ so no so.
42 Do not go up, For Yahweh is not in your midst, —Lest ye be smitten down before your enemies.
Monnkɔ sɛdeɛ moasusu no, anyɛ saa a, atamfoɔ no bɛdi mo so, ɛfiri sɛ, Awurade nni mo afa.
43 For, the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are there before you, So shall ye fall by the sword, —For inasmuch as ye have turned back from following Yahweh, Therefore will Yahweh not be with you.
Mo werɛ afiri sɛ Amalekfoɔ ne Kanaanfoɔ wɔ hɔ? Moapa Awurade enti ɔno nso bɛpa mo.”
44 But they presumptuously ascended into the top of the mountain, —though, neither, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh nor Moses moved out of the midst of the camp.
Nanso, wɔtoaa so foro kɔɔ bepɔ no so a ɛmfa wɔn ho sɛ Awurade adaka no ne Mose mu biara amfiri atenaeɛ hɔ.
45 So ten the Amalekites and the Canaanites, that dwelt in that mountain, came down, —and smote them and routed them even unto Hormah.
Afei, Amalekfoɔ ne Kanaanfoɔ a wɔte bepɔ no so no siane baa fam bɛto hyɛɛ wɔn so boroo wɔn ara kɔsii Horma.
