Numbers 14
1 Then did all the assembly lift up, and give forth their voice, —and the people wept throughout that night.
೧ಆಗ ಜನಸಮೂಹದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವರ ಎತ್ತಿ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಗೋಳಾಡಿದರು.
2 And all the sons of Israel, murmured against Moses and against Aaron, —and all the assembly said unto them—Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt, Or in this wilderness, oh that we had died!
೨ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿ, “ನಾವು ಈ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಯುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿತ್ತು
3 Wherefore then is Yahweh bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones, will become a prey! Would it not be well for us to go back towards Egypt?
೩ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾಕೆ ಕತ್ತಿಯ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಸಾಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದನು. ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬೇರೆಯವರ ಪಾಲಾಗುವರು. ನಾವು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲವೇ” ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
4 And they said, one to another, —Let us appoint a head and let us go back towards Egypt.
೪ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬರ ಸಂಗಡಲೊಬ್ಬರು, “ನಾವು ಬೇರೆ ನಾಯಕನನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
5 Then did Moses and Aaron fall upon their faces, —before all the convocation of the assembly of the sons of Israel.
೫ಆಗ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದರು.
6 But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh, of them who spied out the land, rent their clothes;
೬ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದವರಲ್ಲಿ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಫುನ್ನೆಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಕಾಲೇಬನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
7 and spake unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, saying, —As for the land through which we passed to spy it out, Good, is the land, exceedingly,
೭ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು, “ನಾವು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದ ದೇಶವು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದು.
8 If Yahweh delight in us, then will he bring us into this land, and give it unto us, —A land which doth flow with milk and honey.
೮ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಹಾಲೂ, ಜೇನೂ ಹರಿಯುವ ಆ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವನು.
9 Only against Yahweh, do not rebel. Do not, ye, fear the people of the land, For our food, they are, —Their shade hath departed, from over them. And Yahweh is with us, Do not fear them!
೯ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಬೀಳಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆ ದೇಶದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಜಯಿಸಿಬಿಡುವೆವು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೆರಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದರು.
10 But when all the assembly bade stone them with stones, the glory of Yahweh, appeared, in the tent of meeting, unto all the sons of Israel.
೧೦ಆದರೆ ಜನಸಮೂಹದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು ದೇವದರ್ಶನದ ಗುಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.
11 Then said Yahweh unto Moses How long! must this people, despise me? And how long can they not believe in me. in view of all the signs which I have done in their midst?
೧೧ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ಈ ಜನರು ಇನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡುವರು? ನಾನು ನಡೆಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಇವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಇನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಂಬದೆ ಇರುವರು?
12 Let me smite them with pestilence, and disinherit them, —And make thee into a nation greater and more mighty than they!
೧೨ನಾನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿ ಇವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡುವೆನು. ಈ ಜನರಿಗಿಂತ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿಯೂ, ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
13 Then said Moses unto Yahweh, —So shall the Egyptians hear, For thou hast brought up. in thy might, this people out of their midst;
೧೩ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರು ಈ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವರು. ಅವರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನೀನು ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಭುಜಪರಾಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಈ ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವರು.
14 And will tell it unto the inhabitants of this land: They have heard, That, thou, Yahweh, art in the midst of this people, —That eye to eye, is he seen—thou, Yahweh, And thy cloud, is standing over them, And in a pillar of cloud, thou thyself, art going on before them by day, And in a pillar of fire, by night.
೧೪ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು, ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದನ್ನು, ಹಗಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಘಸ್ತಂಭದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಸ್ತಂಭದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದು ಇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದುಹೋಗುವುದಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನೀನಿರುವ ಮೇಘವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವುದಾಗಿಯೂ ಈ ದೇಶದವರು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
15 As soon, therefore, as thou hast put to death this people as one man, so soon will the nations who have heard thy fame speak saying:
೧೫ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಒಂದೇ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದ ಈ ಜನರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಾಯಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಜನಾಂಗದವರು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ,
16 Because Yahweh, was not able, to bring in this people into the land which he had sworn unto them, therefore did he slay them in the desert.
೧೬“‘ಯೆಹೋವನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಸಾಲದೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು’ ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.
17 Now, therefore, I beseech thee let the might of My Lord, be magnified, —according as thou didst speak saying:
೧೭ಈಗ ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಬಲವು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ,
18 Yahweh—slow to anger and great in lovingkindness, Forgiving iniquity and transgression: Though he will not leave, wholly unpunished, Visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons, Upon a third generation, and upon a fourth.
೧೮‘ಯೆಹೋವನು ದೀರ್ಘಶಾಂತನು, ದಯೆಯುಳ್ಳವನು, ಅಪರಾಧ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸುವವನು, ಆದರೂ ಅಪರಾಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಬಿಡದವನು, ತಂದೆಗಳ ಪಾಪಫಲವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೂರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡುವವನು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಿ.
19 Pardon I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people, According to the greatness of thy lovingkindness, —And according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even thus far.
೧೯ನಾವು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ದಿನದಿಂದ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಇದುವರೆಗೆ ನೀನು ಈ ಜನರ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಈಗಲೂ ಮಹಾಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ಇವರ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.
20 And Yahweh said, I have pardoned according to thy word;
೨೦ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
21 Nevertheless as I live, —and that all the earth may be filled with the glory of Yahweh,
೨೧ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯು ಭೂಲೋಕದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ತುಂಬಿರುವುದು.
22 Verily, none of the men who have been beholding my glory and my signs, which I have done in Egypt and in the desert, —and have put me to the proof these ten times, and have not hearkened unto my voice,
೨೨ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ನಾನು ನಡೆಸಿರುವ ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡದೆ, ಪದೇ ಪದೇ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ
23 shall see the land, which I sware to their fathers, —yea, none of my despisers, shall see it.
೨೩ನಾನು ಅವರ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡಿದ ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
24 But my servant Caleb—because there was another spirit with him, and he followed me fully, therefore will I bring him into the land whereinto he entered, and his seed, shall possess it.
೨೪ನನ್ನ ದಾಸನಾದ ಕಾಲೇಬನಿಗೆ ಅವರಂಥ ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿರದೆ ಮನಃಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ನಡೆದುದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿದ ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವೆನು, ಅವನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.
25 Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are dwelling in the valley, —to-morrow, turn ye away; and set yourselves forward towards the desert by the way of the Red Sea.
೨೫ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರೂ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ಆ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನೀವು ನಾಳೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಕೆಂಪು ಸಮುದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
26 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
೨೬ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ,
27 How long, as regardeth this evil assembly, are they to be murmuring against me? The murmuring of the sons of Israel which, they, have been murmuring against me, have I heard,
೨೭“ನನಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟುವ ಈ ದುಷ್ಟ ಸಮೂಹದವರನ್ನು ನಾನು ಎಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ನನಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟುವ ಮಾತುಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸಿದವು.
28 Say unto them: As I live, is the oracle of Yahweh: Surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so, will I do unto you: —
೨೮ನೀನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು, ‘ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೇಳುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಂತೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ನಾನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶವಗಳು ಈ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬೀಳುವವು.
29 In this desert, shall your dead bodies fall And none of you who were numbered in all your counting, from twenty years old and upwards, —who have murmured against me,
೨೯ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಣಿಕೆಯಾದವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಅಂದರೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಯಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸಾಯುವರು.
30 none of you, shall enter into the land, as to which I uplifted my hand to give you an abode therein, —save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun:
೩೦ಯೆಫುನ್ನೆಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಕಾಲೇಬನು ಮತ್ತು ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರೇ ಹೊರತು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಾಸಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸೇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
31 whereas, your little ones, of whom ye said, they should become, a prey, I will bring them in, and they shall acknowledge the land which ye refused.
೩೧ಆದರೆ ಇತರರ ಪಾಲಾಗುವರೆಂದು ನೀವು ಹೇಳಿದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸುವೆನು. ನೀವು ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವರು.
32 But, your own dead bodies, shall fall in this desert;
೩೨ನೀವಂತೂ ಈ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಯುವಿರಿ.
33 and your sons, shall be shepherds in the desert forty years, and shall bear your unchastities, —until your dead bodies are consumed in the desert.
೩೩ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಶವಗಳು ಈ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುವವರೆಗೂ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ ದ್ರೋಹದ ಫಲವನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವವರಾಗಿ ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಬೇಕು.
34 By the number of the days wherein ye spied out the land—forty days, each day for a year, shall they bear your iniquities—forty years, —so shall ye know my opposition.
೩೪ನೀವು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದ ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಒಂದು ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಫಲವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವವರಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟವರ ಗತಿ ಎಂಥದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
35 I—Yahweh, have spoken, Verily this, will I do to all this evil assembly, who have conspired against me, —In this desert, shall they be consumed And there, shall they die.
೩೫ಇದು ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ನಾನೇ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತು. ನನಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿರುವ ಈ ದುಷ್ಟ ಸಮೂಹದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಈ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಈ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಾಯಬೇಕು’” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
36 Now as for the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, —who returned and caused all the assembly to murmur against him by giving out a rumour against the land,
೩೬ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋಶೆಯಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು ಆ ದೇಶದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶುಭ ಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರನ್ನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
37 they died—the men who gave out an evil rumour of the land, —by the plague, before Yahweh.
೩೭ಅಶುಭ ಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ತಂದ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದ ಸತ್ತರು.
38 But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh! remained alive—of those men who went to spy out the land.
೩೮ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಫುನ್ನೆಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಕಾಲೇಬನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿದರು.
39 And Moses spake these words unto all the sons of Israel, and the people were greatly depressed.
೩೯ಮೋಶೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಬಹಳ ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟರು.
40 So they arose early in the morning, and went up into the top of the mountain, saying, —We are here—therefore will we go up into the place as to which Yahweh hath said that we have sinned.
೪೦ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಜನರು ಎದ್ದು, “ನಾವು ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ನಿಜ; ಯೆಹೋವನು ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತೋಣ ಬನ್ನಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತಿಹೋದರು.
41 But Moses said, Wherefore is it that, ye, are going beyond the bidding of Yahweh, —since that cannot prosper?
೪೧ಆದರೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಯಾಕೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರುತ್ತೀರಿ? ಇದು ಸಫಲವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
42 Do not go up, For Yahweh is not in your midst, —Lest ye be smitten down before your enemies.
೪೨ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಹತ್ತಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗುವಿರಿ.
43 For, the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are there before you, So shall ye fall by the sword, —For inasmuch as ye have turned back from following Yahweh, Therefore will Yahweh not be with you.
೪೩ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರೂ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಅವರ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗುವಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸದೆ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಆತನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
44 But they presumptuously ascended into the top of the mountain, —though, neither, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh nor Moses moved out of the midst of the camp.
೪೪ಆದರೂ ಅವರು ಹಟಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದರು. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವಾಗಲಿ ಮೋಶೆಯಾಗಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
45 So ten the Amalekites and the Canaanites, that dwelt in that mountain, came down, —and smote them and routed them even unto Hormah.
೪೫ಆಗ ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಹೊರ್ಮಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರೆಗೂ ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು.
