Numbers 12
1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses, on account of the Cushite woman whom he had taken, —for, a Cushite woman, had he taken.
Or Marie et Aaron parlèrent contre Moïse à cause de sa femme l’Éthiopienne,
2 And they said: Is it only and solely with Moses, that Yahweh hath spoken? With us also, hath he not spoken? And Yahweh heard it.
Et dirent: Est-ce par le seul Moïse qu’a parlé le Seigneur? Ne nous a-t-il pas également parlé? Ce qu’ayant entendu le Seigneur,
3 Now, the man Moses, was patient, exceedingly, —above all the sons of earth, who were on the face of the ground.
(Car Moïse était l’homme le plus doux de tous les hommes qui demeuraient sur la terre)
4 Then said Yahweh suddenly, unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting. And they three went out.
Il dit aussitôt à Moïse, à Aaron et à Marie: Sortez, vous trois seulement, pour aller au tabernacle d’alliance. Et lorsqu’ils furent sortis,
5 Then Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the entrance of the tent, —and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both went forth.
Le Seigneur descendit dans une colonne de nuée, et se tint à l’entrée du tabernacle, appelant Aaron et Marie. Lorsqu’ils furent venus,
6 Then said he Hear, I beseech you my words. When ye have your prophet, As Yahweh in a vision, will I make myself known, unto him; In a dream, will I speak with him.
Il leur dit: Ecoutez mes paroles: Si quelqu’un parmi vous est prophète du Seigneur, je lui apparaîtrai dans la vision, ou je lui parlerai en songe.
7 Not so, my servant Moses, —In all my house, trusty, is he:
Mais tel n’est pas mon serviteur Moïse, qui est très fidèle dans toute ma maison;
8 Mouth to mouth, do I speak with him And plainly—not in dark sayings, And the form of Yahweh, doth he discern, —Wherefore then, were ye not afraid to speak against my servant—against Moses?
Car c’est bouche à bouche que je lui parle, et c’est clairement et non en énigmes et en figures qu’il voit le Seigneur. Pourquoi donc n’avez-vous pas craint de décrier mon serviteur Moïse?
9 And the anger of Yahweh kindled upon them and he departed.
Et, irrité contre eux, il s’en alla.
10 And, when, the cloud, removed from off the tent, —lo! Miriam, leprous, like snow! And Aaron turned unto Miriam and lo! …leprous!
La nuée aussi qui était sur le tabernacle se retira: et voilà que Marie parut blanche de lèpre comme la neige. Or Aaron l’ayant regardée, et l’ayant vue couverte de lèpre,
11 Then said Aaron unto Moses, —Oh my lord, do not I beseech thee lay upon us sin, although we have made ourselves foolish, and although we have sinned.
Dit à Moïse: Je vous conjure, mon seigneur, ne nous imposez point un péché que nous avons commis follement;
12 Let her not, I beseech thee, remain like the still-born, —which when it is born of its mother, the half of its flesh is consumed.
Que celle-ci ne devienne pas comme morte, et comme l’avorton qui est rejeté du sein de sa mère; voilà que déjà la moitié de sa chair a été dévorée par la lèpre.
13 Then Moses made outcry unto Yahweh, saying, —O GOD, I beseech thee grant healing. I beseech thee unto her.
Moïse donc cria au Seigneur, disant: Dieu, je vous conjure, guérissez-la.
14 And Yahweh said unto Moses: If, her own father, had, but spat, in her face, would she not, have acknowledged the shame for seven days? Let her shut herself up for seven days, outside the camp, and afterwards, let her be received back.
Le Seigneur lui répondit: Si son père eût craché sur sa face, n’eût-elle pas dû être au moins pendant sept jours couverte de honte? Qu’elle soit séparée durant sept jours hors du camp, et après cela elle sera rappelée.
15 So Miriam shut herself up, outside the camp, for seven days, —and, the people, set not forward, until Miriam had been received back.
C’est pourquoi Marie fut exclue du camp durant sept jours; et le peuple ne sortit pas de ce lieu, jusqu’à ce que Marie fut rappelée.
16 Then afterwards, did the people set forward from Hazeroth, and encamped in the desert of Paran.
Après cela le peuple partit d’Haséroth, et planta ses tentes dans le désert de Pharan.
