Numbers 12
1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses, on account of the Cushite woman whom he had taken, —for, a Cushite woman, had he taken.
Marie, avec Aaron, parla contre Moïse au sujet de la femme couschite qu’il avait prise; car il avait pris une femme couschite.
2 And they said: Is it only and solely with Moses, that Yahweh hath spoken? With us also, hath he not spoken? And Yahweh heard it.
Ils dirent: « Est-ce seulement par Moïse que Yahweh a parlé? N’a-t-il pas parlé aussi par nous? » Et Yahweh l’entendit.
3 Now, the man Moses, was patient, exceedingly, —above all the sons of earth, who were on the face of the ground.
Mais Moïse était un homme fort doux, plus qu’aucun homme qui fût sur la face de la terre.
4 Then said Yahweh suddenly, unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting. And they three went out.
Soudain Yahweh dit à Moïse, à Aaron et à Marie: « Sortez, vous trois, vers la tente de réunion. » Et ils sortirent tous les trois;
5 Then Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the entrance of the tent, —and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both went forth.
et Yahweh descendit dans la colonne de nuée et se tint à l’entrée de la tente. Il appela Aaron et Marie, qui s’avancèrent tous deux;
6 Then said he Hear, I beseech you my words. When ye have your prophet, As Yahweh in a vision, will I make myself known, unto him; In a dream, will I speak with him.
et il dit: « Écoutez bien mes paroles: si vous avez quelque prophète de Yahweh, c’est en vision que je me révèle à lui, c’est en songe que je lui parle.
7 Not so, my servant Moses, —In all my house, trusty, is he:
Tel n'est pas mon serviteur Moïse; il est reconnu fidèle dans toute ma maison.
8 Mouth to mouth, do I speak with him And plainly—not in dark sayings, And the form of Yahweh, doth he discern, —Wherefore then, were ye not afraid to speak against my servant—against Moses?
Je lui parle bouche à bouche, en me faisant voir, et non par énigmes, et il contemple la figure de Yahweh. Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas craint de parler contre mon serviteur, contre Moïse? »
9 And the anger of Yahweh kindled upon them and he departed.
Et la colère de Yahweh s’enflamma contre eux; et il s’en alla;
10 And, when, the cloud, removed from off the tent, —lo! Miriam, leprous, like snow! And Aaron turned unto Miriam and lo! …leprous!
la nuée se retira de dessus la tente. Et voici, Marie devint lépreuse, blanche comme la neige. Aaron se tourna vers Marie, et voici, elle était lépreuse.
11 Then said Aaron unto Moses, —Oh my lord, do not I beseech thee lay upon us sin, although we have made ourselves foolish, and although we have sinned.
Et Aaron dit à Moïse: « De grâce, mon seigneur, ne mets pas sur nous ce péché que nous avons follement commis, et dont nous sommes coupables.
12 Let her not, I beseech thee, remain like the still-born, —which when it is born of its mother, the half of its flesh is consumed.
Ah! Qu'elle ne soit pas comme l’enfant mort-né qui, en sortant du sein de sa mère, a la chair à demi-consumée! »
13 Then Moses made outcry unto Yahweh, saying, —O GOD, I beseech thee grant healing. I beseech thee unto her.
Moïse cria à Yahweh, en disant: « Ô Dieu, je vous prie, guérissez-là! »
14 And Yahweh said unto Moses: If, her own father, had, but spat, in her face, would she not, have acknowledged the shame for seven days? Let her shut herself up for seven days, outside the camp, and afterwards, let her be received back.
Yahweh dit à Moïse: « Si son père lui avait craché au visage, ne serait-elle pas pendant sept jours couverte de honte? Qu'elle soit séquestrée sept jours hors du camp; après quoi, elle y sera reçue. »
15 So Miriam shut herself up, outside the camp, for seven days, —and, the people, set not forward, until Miriam had been received back.
Marie fut donc séquestrée sept jours hors du camp, et le peuple ne partit point, jusqu’à ce que Marie eût été reçue.
16 Then afterwards, did the people set forward from Hazeroth, and encamped in the desert of Paran.
Après cela, le peuple partit de Haséroth, et ils campèrent dans le désert de Pharan.
