< Nehemiah 9 >
1 Now, on the twenty-fourth day of this month, were the sons of Israel gathered together, with fasting and with sackcloth, having earth upon them.
To khrah ni pumphae palito naah, Israelnawk loe maeto ah amkhueng o moe, buhzah o, kazii angzaeng o moe, lu nuiah maiphu ang phuih o.
2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all the sons of the foreigner, —and stood and made confession over their own sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
Israel caanawk boih loe minawk kalah hoi kamhoe ah oh o, angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah angdoet o moe, angmacae zaehaih, ampanawk mah sakpazae ih hmuennawk to taphong o.
3 So they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Yahweh their God, a fourth part of the day, —and, a fourth part, they were making confession and bowing themselves down, unto Yahweh their God.
Angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah angdoet o moe, nito thungah atue thumto thung angmacae Angraeng Sithaw ih kaalok to kroek o; kalah atue thumto thungah zaehaih taphong o moe, angmacae Angraeng Sithaw to bok o.
4 Then stood up on the platform of the Levites, Jeshua and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, Chenani, —and made outcry, with a loud voice, unto Yahweh their God.
Thlung nuiah angdoe Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, Khenani hoi Levi mah, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to tha hoiah kawk o.
5 Then said the Levites—Jeshua and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, Pethahiah, Stand up, bless Yahweh your God, from age to age, —Yea let them bless thy glorious Name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
To pacoengah Levi kami, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah hoi Pethahiah cae mah, angdoe oh loe, dungzan hoi dungzan khoek to nangmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to tahamhoihaih paek oh; tahamhoihaih hoi saphawhaihnawk boih nuiah, na hmin lensawkhaih om nasoe.
6 Thou, art Yahweh, thou alone, Thou, didst make the heavens, the heavens of heavens, and all their host, the earth and all that is thereon, the seas and all that is therein, and, thou, holdest them all in life, —and, the host of the heavens, unto thee, are bowing down.
Angraeng loe Nang ni, Angraeng loe nang khue ni; vannawk, kasang koek vannawk, cakaehnawk boih, long hoi athung ah kaom hmuennawk boih, tuipui hoi athung ah kaom hmuennawk boih to na sak moe, hinghaih na paek; van ih hmuennawk boih mah nang to ang bok o.
7 Thou, art Yahweh, God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, —and madest his name Abraham;
Nang loe Khaldea prae, Ur avang hoiah Abram to na qoih moe, Abraham, tiah ahmin phuikung ah na oh.
8 and didst find his heart faithful before thee, and didst solemnize with him a covenant, to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, —to give it unto his seed, —and didst confirm thy words, for, righteous, thou art.
Anih loe nang khaeah oep kaom ah kho a sak, tiah na hnuk pongah, a caanawk khaeah, Kanaan, Hit, Amor, Periz, Jebus hoi Girgash kaminawk ih prae to paek hanah, anih hoi lokkamhaih na sak. Na sak ih lokkamhaih baktih toengah na koepsak.
9 Yea thou sawest the affliction of our fathers, in Egypt, and, their outcry, thou heardest, by the Red Sea;
Kaicae ampanawk mah Izip prae thungah tongh o ih patanghaih to na hnuk moe, Tuipui kathim taeng ih nihcae hanghaih lok to na thaih pae.
10 and didst grant signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land, for thou hadst taken note, that they ruled proudly over them, —and so thou didst make thee a name, as at this day.
Nihcae to Izip kaminawk mah amoekhaih hoiah pacaekthlaek pongah, Faro hoi anih ih tamnanawk boih, prae thung ih kaminawk boih khaeah angmathaih hoi dawnrai hmuen to nam tuengsak. To pongah nangmah hanah ahmin to na sak moe, vaihni ni khoek to cak poe.
11 And, the sea, didst thou cleave asunder before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea, on dry ground, —whereas, their pursuers, thou didst cast into the depths like a stone, into the mighty waters,
Nihcae hmaa ah tui to na pakhoih pae moe, tuipui umli ah saoeng ah caeh baktih toengah nihcae to na caehsak; toe nihcae pacaekthlaek kaminawk loe kathuk tui thungah thlung kazit vah baktiah na vah.
12 And, in a pillar of cloud, didst thou lead them, by day, —and in a pillar of fire, by night, to light up for them the way wherein they should go.
Khodai ah tamai hoiah na zaeh moe, a caeh o haih loklam hnuksak hanah hmaithaw hoiah na zaeh.
13 And, upon Mount Sinai, camest thou down, and spakest with them out of the heavens, —and gavest them just regulations, and faithful laws, good statutes and commandments.
Sinai mae ah nang zoh tathuk moe, van hoiah nihcae khaeah lok na thuih pae; katoeng lokcaekhaih, zaehhoihhaih kaaloknawk, kahoih lok takroekhaih hoi thuitaekhaih loknawk to nihcae hanah na paek.
14 And, thy holy sabbath, didst thou make known to them, —and, commandments and statutes and a law, didst thou command them, through Moses thy servant.
Nihcae khaeah nangmah ih ciimcai Sabbath to na panoeksak, zaehhoihhaih dannawk, lok takroekhaih daan hoi thuitaekhaih daannawk to, na tamna Mosi khaeah na paek.
15 And, bread out of the heavens, didst thou give them, for their hunger, and, waters out of the cliff, didst thou bring them, for their thirst, —and badest them go in to take possession of the land, which thou hadst lifted thy hand to give them.
Zok amthlam o naah van hoiah takaw na paek moe, tui anghaeh o naah thlung thung hoiah tui to na paek; nihcae khae paek han lokkamhaih na sak baktih toengah prae thungah akun moe, prae to qawk ah toep hanah na thuih pae.
16 But, they and our fathers, dealt proudly, —and hardened their neck, and hearkened not unto thy commandments;
Toe kam panawk loe amoek o moe, palungthah o pongah, na paek ih loknawk to pazui o ai.
17 but refused to hearken, neither kept in mind thy wonders which thou hadst done with them, but they hardened their neck, and appointed a head that they might return to their servitude, in their perverseness. But, thou, art a God of forgivenesses, gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness, and didst not forsake them.
Lok tahngai o ai, nihcae khaeah na sak pae ih dawnrai hmuennawk doeh poek o ai; palungthah o pongah, tamna ah oh o haih Izip prae ah amlaem let hanah, angmacae zaehoikung maeto suek o; toe nang loe zae tahmenkung Sithaw, tahmenhaih hoi palungnathaih na tawnh pongah, palung na phuisak ai moe, kathuk tahmenhaih to nam tuengsak, nihcae to na pahnawt sut ai.
18 Yea, although they made them a molten calf, and said, This, is thy God, that brought thee up out of Egypt, —and wrought great insults,
Ue, nihcae loe angmacae han maitaw caa krang to sak o moe, Hae loe Izip prae thung hoi nangcae zaehoikung sithaw ah oh, tiah a thuih o moe, na hmin to set o sak;
19 yet, thou, in thine abounding compassions, didst not forsake them in the desert, —the pillar of cloud, departed not from over them by day, to lead them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to light up for them the way wherein they should go.
toe Nang loe palung na sawk pongah, nihcae to praezaek ah na pahnawt sut ai; khodai ah nihcae caehhaih loklam patuek hanah, tamai nang khoengsak ving ai moe, khoving ah nihcae loklam hnuksak hanah hmaithaw doeh na duehsak ai.
20 And, thy Good Spirit, thou gavest, to instruct them, —and, thy manna, thou withheldest not from their mouth, and, water, thou gavest them, for their thirst.
Nihcae thuitaek hanah kahoih na Muithla to na paek; nihcae caak hanah manna doeh na paawt ai, nihcae tui anghaeh o naah tui na paek.
21 Yea, forty years, didst thou sustain them in the desert, they lacked nothing, —their mantles, waxed not old and, their feet, swelled not.
Ue, saning quipalito thung nihcae to praezaek ah na pacah, nihcae loe angaihaih tidoeh tawn o ai; nihcae ih khukbuen loe prawn ai, khok doeh bawk o ai.
22 And thou gavest them kingdoms, and peoples, and allotted to each of them a corner, —and they took possession of the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.
Nihcae hanah minawk ih prae, kangthla parai ah kaom kaminawk ih ahmuen amae to na paek; Heshbon siangpahrang Sihon ih prae hoi Bashan siangpahrang Og ih prae doeh nihcae mah lak o.
23 Their children also, didst thou multiply, like the stars of the heavens, —and didst bring them into the land which thou hadst promised their fathers they should enter to possess;
A caanawk doeh van ih cakaeh zetto nang pungsak moe, ampanawk khaeah qawktoepsak hanah na thuih ih, prae thungah na caeh haih.
24 so the children entered and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and deliveredst them into their hand, —with their kings, and the peoples of the land, to do with them according to their pleasure;
Nihcae ih caanawk loe caeh o moe, prae to a toep o; nihcae hmaa ah to prae thungah kaom Kanaan kaminawk to na pacaekthlaek moe, Kanaan kaminawk hoi nihcae ih siangpahrangnawk to koeh baktiah a sak o hanah, nihcae ban ah na paek.
25 and they captured fortified cities and a fat soil, and took possession of houses full of every good thing, wells digged, vineyards and oliveyards and fruit-trees, in abundance, —so they did eat and were filled and became fat, and luxuriated in thy great goodness.
Tapang thungh ih vangpuinawk, kahoih prae to nihcae mah lak pae o moe, hmuenmae congca hoi kakoi imnawk doeh a toep o; tuipuek tuinawk, misur takhanawk, olive takhanawk hoi kapop parai thingthai qumponawk doeh a toep o; zok kamhah ah a caak o moe, thawk o hruk; na lensawkhaih hoi na hoihhaih thungah anghoehaih hoiah kho a sak o.
26 But they murmured and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their back, and, thy prophets, they slew, who testified against them that they might turn them back unto thee, —and they wrought great insults.
Toe nihcae loe lok tahngai o ai, na nuiah misa angthawk o; na patuk ih loknawk to hnukbangah vah o moe, nang khaeah amlaem let han thuikung, tahmaanawk to a hum o; to tiah na nuiah panuet thok hmuen to nihcae mah sak o.
27 Therefore didst thou deliver them into the hand of their adversaries, who distressed them, —and, in the time of their distress, they made outcry unto thee, and, thou, out of the heavens, didst hear, and, according to thine abounding compassions, gavest them saviours, that they might save them out of the hand of their adversaries.
To pongah angmacae ih misa ban ah nihcae to na paek moe, a misanawk mah nihcae to pacaeklthlaek o; toe raihaih tongh o moe, nang khaeah ang hangh o naah loe, nihcae hanghaih lok to van hoiah na thaih pae; angmacae misanawk ih ban thung hoi pahlong hanah, kalen parai tahmenhaih rang hoiah nihcae pahlongkung to na paek.
28 But, as soon as they had rest, they again wrought wickedness before thee, —and thou didst leave them in the hand of their enemies, who bare rule over them, yet, when they again made outcry unto thee, thou, from the heavens, didst hear and didst deliver them according to thy compassions, many times;
Toe monghaih hoi a oh o pacoengah loe, na hmaa ah kahoih ai hmuen to a sak o let; to pongah nihcae to uk hanah angmacae ih misa ban ah na paek; toe nang khaeah amlaem o moe, a hangh o let naah, van hoiah na thaih pae; nam lunghaih rang hoiah nihcae to vaihi hoi vaihi na pahlong.
29 and didst testify against them, to bring them back unto thy law, yet, they, dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, and, against thy regulations, they sinned, the which—if any son of earth shall do—then shall he live by them, —and yielded a rebellious shoulder, and, their neck, they stiffened, and hearkened not.
Na patuk ih lok pazui hanah na thuitaek cadoeh, nihcae loe amoek o moe, na paek ih loknawk to pazui o ai; patukhaih lok pazui kami loe hing tih, tiah kaom lok takroekhaih nuiah zaehaih a sak o; palung thah o moe, lok to a aek o, lok tahngai o ai.
30 And thou didst suffer many years to pass over them, and didst testify against them by thy Spirit through thy prophets, yet did they not give ear, —therefore didst thou deliver them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.
Saning paroeai thung nihcae nuiah palung na sawk moe, nangmah ih tahmaanawk khaeah kaom na Muithla hoiah na thuitaek cadoeh, nihcae mah tahngai o ai pongah, to ah kaom prae kaminawk ban ah na paek.
31 Yet, in thine abounding compassions, thou didst not make of them an end, neither didst thou forsake them, —for, a GOD gracious and full of compassion, thou art.
Toe kalen parai na tahmenhaih, amlunghaih, tahmenhaih hoi kakoi Sithaw ah na oh pongah, nihcae to nang hmaasak ai moe, na pahnet ai.
32 Now, therefore, O our God—the GOD great, mighty, and fearful—keeping the covenant and the lovingkindness, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, which hath come upon us—on our kings, on our rulers, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, —from the days of the kings of Assyria, until this day.
To pongah Aw kaicae ih Sithaw, Lensawk, thacak hoi zitthok Sithaw, palungnathaih hoi lokmaihaih pakuemkung, Assyria siangpahrang dung hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to, kaicae ih siangpahrangnawk, angraengnawk, qaimanawk, tahmaanawk, kam panawk hoi nangmah ih kaminawk boih nuiah kaom raihaihnawk boih to tiah doeh kaom ai hmuen tetta ah angcoengsak hmah.
33 But, thou, art righteous, as to all that hath fallen upon us, —for, faithfulness, hast thou wrought, whereas, we, have been lawless;
Kaicae nuiah nang phaksak ih hmuennawk boih loe toeng; ka zae o haih pongah, katoeng ah lok nang caek.
34 and, our kings, our rulers, our priests, and our fathers, have not kept thy law, —nor given heed unto thy commandments, or unto thy testimonies, wherewith thou hast testified against them.
Kaicae ih siangpahrang, angraeng, qaima hoi kam panawk loe, nang ih kaalok to pazui o ai; na paek ih loknawk hoi na thuih ih loknawk, tiah doeh sah o ai.
35 But, they, in their kingdom, and in thine abundant goodness which thou gavest them, and in the broad and fat land which thou didst set before them, did not serve thee, neither turned they from their wicked doings.
Nihcae han paroeai lensawk na hoihhaih hoiah na paek ih kakawk parai ahmuen hoi kahoih prae ah kho a sak o naah doeh, nihcae mah na tok to sah o ai, kahoih ai loklam doeh caeh o taak ai.
36 Lo! we, to-day, are bondmen—even upon the land which thou gavest our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, lo! we, are bondmen;
Khenah, vaihi loe tamna ah ni ka oh o boeh, athaih to caak moe, athung ih kahoih hmuen to qawktoep hanah, kam panawk khaeah na paek ih prae thungah, misong ah ni ka oh o boeh.
37 and, the increase thereof, aboundeth unto the kings whom thou hast set over us, for our sins, —and, over our bodies, are they bearing rule, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and, in great distress, we are.
Ka zae o boeh pongah, ka tawnh o ih cangnawk loe, kaicae nuiah na suek ih siangpahrangnawk khaeah phak boih boeh; nihcae mah ang uk o moe, maitawnawk doeh angmacae koeh baktiah a sak o; kaicae loe palungsethaih hoiah ni ka oh o sut boeh, tiah a thuih.
38 Seeing, therefore, all this, we, are plighting our faith, and putting it in writing, —and, upon the sealed scroll, are our rulers, our Levites, our priests.
Hae baktih kawng pongah, palung aduehaih casuk to ka sak o; to palung aduehaih casuk to kaicae zaehoikung, Levinawk hoi qaimanawk mah catui daengh o.
