< Nehemiah 6 >

1 And it came to pass, when it was reported to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our enemies, that I had built the wall, and there was left therein no breach, —though, up to that time, the doors, had I not set up in the gates,
Nígbà tí Sanballati, Tobiah Geṣemu ará Arabia àti àwọn ọ̀tá wa tókù gbọ́ pé, mo ti tún odi náà mọ, kò sì sí àlàfo kankan tí ó ṣẹ́kù nínú rẹ̀—bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé èmi kò ì tí ì ri àwọn ìlẹ̀kùn ibodè ní àkókò náà.
2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come! and let us meet together in the villages, in the valley of Ono, —But, they, were plotting to do me harm.
Sanballati àti Geṣemu rán iṣẹ́ yìí sí mi pé, “Wá jẹ́ kí a jọ pàdé pọ̀ nínú ọ̀kan lára àwọn ìletò ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ Ono.” Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n ń gbèrò láti ṣe mí ní ibi;
3 So I sent unto them messengers, saying, A great work, am, I, doing, and cannot come down, —wherefore should the work cease whilst I leave it, and come down unto you?
bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo rán oníṣẹ́ padà pẹ̀lú èsì yìí pé, “Èmi ń ṣe iṣẹ́ ńlá kan, èmi kò le è sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá. Èéṣe tí iṣẹ́ náà yóò fi dúró, nígbà tí mo bá fi í sílẹ̀ tí mo sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ tọ̀ yín wá?”
4 Yet they sent unto me, according to this message, four times, —and I replied to them according to this answer.
Wọ́n rán iṣẹ́ náà sí mi nígbà mẹ́rin ọ̀tọ̀ọ̀tọ̀, mo sì fún wọn ní èsì bákan náà fún ìgbà kọ̀ọ̀kan.
5 Then Sanballat sent unto me, according to this message, a fifth time, by his young man, —with an open letter, in his hand:
Ní ìgbà karùn-ún, Sanballati rán ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ sí mi pẹ̀lú irú iṣẹ́ kan náà, lẹ́tà kan tí a kò fi sínú àpò ìwé wà ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀
6 wherein was written—Among the nations, it is reported, and, Gashmu, saith it, that, thou and the Jews, are plotting to rebel, for which cause, thou art building the wall, —and, thou, art to become their king, according to these words.
tí a kọ sínú un rẹ̀ pé, “A ròyìn rẹ láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, Geṣemu sì sọ pé, òtítọ́ ni, pé ìwọ àti àwọn Júù ń gbèrò láti ṣọ̀tẹ̀, nítorí náà ni ẹ ṣe ń mọ odi. Síwájú sí i, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìròyìn yìí, ìwọ sì ń gbèrò láti di ọba wọn
7 Moreover also, prophets, hast thou set up to make proclamation concerning thee in Jerusalem, saying, He hath become king in Judah! Now, therefore, will it he reported to the king, according to these words. Now, therefore, come, and let us take counsel together.
àti pé ó ti yan àwọn wòlíì kí wọn lè kéde nípa rẹ̀ ní Jerusalẹmu: ‘Ọba kan wà ní Juda!’ Nísinsin yìí, ìròyìn yìí yóò padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba; nítorí náà wá, jẹ́ kí a bá ara wa sọ̀rọ̀.”
8 Then sent I unto him, saying, Nothing hath been done, according to these words, which thou art saying, —but, out of thine own heart, art thou feigning them.
Mo dá èsì yìí padà sí i pé, “Kò sí ohun kan nínú irú ohun tí ìwọ sọ tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀; ìwọ kàn rò wọ́n ní orí ara rẹ ni.”
9 For, they all, were seeking to put us in fear, saying, Their hands will slacken from the work, and it will not be accomplished. Now, therefore, strengthen thou my hands!
Gbogbo wọn múra láti dẹ́rùbà wá, wọ́n ń rò ó wí pé, “Ọwọ́ wọn kò ní ran iṣẹ́ náà, àti wí pé wọn kò ní parí rẹ̀.” Ṣùgbọ́n mo gbàdúrà pé, “Nísinsin yìí Ọlọ́run fi agbára fún ọwọ́ mi.”
10 When, I, came into the house of Shemaiah, son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, he, being shut in, he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, in the midst of the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to slay thee, yea, by night, are they coming to slay thee.
Ní ọjọ́ kan mo lọ sí ilé Ṣemaiah ọmọ Delaiah, ọmọ Mehetabeeli, ẹni tí a há mọ́ sínú ilé rẹ̀. Ó wí pé, “Jẹ́ kí a pàdé ní ilé Ọlọ́run nínú tẹmpili, kí o sì jẹ́ kí a pa àwọn ìlẹ̀kùn tẹmpili dé, nítorí àwọn ènìyàn ń bọ̀ láti pa ọ́, ní òru ni wọn yóò wá láti pa ọ́.”
11 Then said I, Should, such a man as I, flee? Who then, being such as I, would enter the temple to save his life? I will not enter.
Ṣùgbọ́n mo wí pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ó yẹ kí irú ènìyàn bí èmi sálọ? Tàbí kí ènìyàn bí èmi sálọ sínú tẹmpili láti gba ẹ̀mí ara rẹ̀ là? Èmi kò ní lọ!”
12 Then perceived I, that lo! it was, not God, who had sent him, —though, a prophecy, he had spoken concerning me, but, Tobiah and Sanballat, had hired him:
Èmi wòye pé Ọlọ́run kò rán an, ṣùgbọ́n ó sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ sí mi nítorí Tobiah àti Sanballati ti bẹ̀ ẹ́ ní ọ̀wẹ̀.
13 to this end, hired, he was, to the end that I might be afraid and do so, and might sin, —and it might serve them for an evil report, to the end they might bring reproach upon me.
Wọ́n bẹ̀ ẹ́ ní ọ̀wẹ̀ láti dẹ́rùbà mí nítorí kí èmi lè dẹ́ṣẹ̀ nípa ṣíṣe èyí, kí wọn lè bà mí lórúkọ jẹ́, kí n sì di ẹni ẹ̀gàn.
14 Have remembrance, O my God, of Tobiah and of Sanballat, according to these their doings, —moreover also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets, who would have put me in fear.
A! Ọlọ́run mi, rántí Tobiah àti Sanballati, nítorí ohun tí wọ́n ti ṣe; kí o sì tún rántí Noadiah wòlíì obìnrin àti àwọn wòlíì tókù tí wọ́n ń gbèrò láti dẹ́rùbà mí.
15 So the wall was finished, on the twenty-fifth of Elul, —in fifty-two days.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni a parí odi náà ní ọjọ́ kẹẹdọ́gbọ̀n oṣù Eluli, láàrín ọjọ́ méjìléláàádọ́ta.
16 And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard, and all the nations that were round about us saw, that they fell greatly in their own eyes, and took knowledge that, from God, had this work been wrought.
Nígbà tí àwọn ọ̀tá wa gbọ́ èyí, gbogbo àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó yí wa ká bẹ̀rù jìnnìjìnnì sì mú wọn, nítorí wọ́n wòye pé iṣẹ́ yìí di ṣíṣe pẹ̀lú ìrànlọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run wa.
17 Moreover, in those days, were the nobles of Judah busy with their letters which were going unto Tobiah, —and those of Tobiah were coming unto them;
Bákan náà, ní ọjọ́ wọ̀n-ọn-nì àwọn ọlọ́lá Juda ń kọ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ lẹ́tà ránṣẹ́ sí Tobiah, èsì láti ọ̀dọ̀ Tobiah sì ń wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ wọn.
18 for, many in Judah, had taken an oath to him, because he was in marriage affinity with Shecaniah son of Arah, —and, Jehohanan his son, had taken the daughter of Meshullam, son of Berechiah.
Nítorí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ àwọn Juda ti mulẹ̀ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, nítorí tí ó jẹ́ àna Ṣekaniah ọmọ Arah (Sanballati fẹ́ ọmọ Ṣekaniah), ọmọ rẹ̀ Jehohanani sì tún fẹ́ ọmọbìnrin Meṣullamu ọmọ Berekiah.
19 Moreover, his good deeds, were they telling before me, and, my affairs, were they carrying out to him, —letters, did Tobiah send to put me in fear.
Síwájú sí í, wọ́n túbọ̀ ń ròyìn iṣẹ́ rere rẹ̀ fún mi, wọ́n sì ń sọ ohun tí mo sọ fún un. Tobiah sì ń kọ àwọn lẹ́tà ránṣẹ́ sí mi láti dẹ́rùbà mí.
