Nehemiah 6
1 And it came to pass, when it was reported to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our enemies, that I had built the wall, and there was left therein no breach, —though, up to that time, the doors, had I not set up in the gates,
Ary rehefa ren’ i Sanbala sy Tobia sy Gasema Arabo mbamin’ ny namany fahavalonay fa efa nanao ny manda aho, ka tsy nisy banga intsony teo (kanefa tamin’ izany andro izany tsy mbola voalatsako ny lela-vavahady),
2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come! and let us meet together in the villages, in the valley of Ono, —But, they, were plotting to do me harm.
dia naniraka ho any amiko Sanbala sy Gasema ka nanao hoe: Avia isika hihaona ao amin’ izay vohitra anankiray amin’ ny tany lemak’ i Ono. Kanjo nikasa hanisy ratsy ahy izy roa lahy.
3 So I sent unto them messengers, saying, A great work, am, I, doing, and cannot come down, —wherefore should the work cease whilst I leave it, and come down unto you?
Dia naniraka olona hankany aminy kosa aho hanao hoe: Asa lehibe no ataoko, ka tsy afa-midìna aho; nahoana no hilaozako midìna any aminareo ny asa ka hatsahatra?
4 Yet they sent unto me, according to this message, four times, —and I replied to them according to this answer.
Kanefa mbola naniraka tamiko inefatra araka izany ihany izy; ary izaho kosa dia mbola namaly azy toy izany ihany koa.
5 Then Sanballat sent unto me, according to this message, a fifth time, by his young man, —with an open letter, in his hand:
Dia nirahin’ i Sanbala fanindiminy ny zatovony hankeo amiko araka izany ihany, nitondra taratasy nivelatra teny an-tànany,
6 wherein was written—Among the nations, it is reported, and, Gashmu, saith it, that, thou and the Jews, are plotting to rebel, for which cause, thou art building the wall, —and, thou, art to become their king, according to these words.
izay nisy soratra hoe: Efa mahoraka any amin’ ny firenena maro izao teny izao, sady lazain’ i Gasema hoe: Hianao sy ny Jiosy dia mikasa hikomy, ka izany no anaovanao ny manda, ary araka izany teny izany dia mikasa ho mpanjakany, hono, ianao,
7 Moreover also, prophets, hast thou set up to make proclamation concerning thee in Jerusalem, saying, He hath become king in Judah! Now, therefore, will it he reported to the king, according to these words. Now, therefore, come, and let us take counsel together.
sady efa nanendry ny mpaminany maro hilaza anao any Jerosalema hoe Mpanjaka any Joda; ary ankehitriny dia ho ren’ ny mpanjaka izany teny izany; koa avia isika hiara-mihevitra.
8 Then sent I unto him, saying, Nothing hath been done, according to these words, which thou art saying, —but, out of thine own heart, art thou feigning them.
Dia naniraka ho any aminy aho hanao hoe: Tsy marina izany zavatra lazainao izany, fa tao am-ponao ihany no namoronanao izany.
9 For, they all, were seeking to put us in fear, saying, Their hands will slacken from the work, and it will not be accomplished. Now, therefore, strengthen thou my hands!
Fa ta-hampahatahotra anay izy rehetra, ka hoy izy: Ho kivy amin’ ny asa izy ka tsy hahatontosa. Koa ankehitriny ampaherezo e ny tanako!
10 When, I, came into the house of Shemaiah, son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, he, being shut in, he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, in the midst of the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to slay thee, yea, by night, are they coming to slay thee.
Ary izaho dia tonga tao an-tranon’ i Semaia, zanak’ i Delaia, zanak’ i Mehetabela, izay nihidy trano tao; dia hoy izy: Andeha isika hiditra ao an-tranon’ Andriamanitra ao anatin’ ny tempoly, ary aoka harindrintsika ny varavarana, fa ho avy hamono anao izy, eny, ho avy alina hamono anao izy.
11 Then said I, Should, such a man as I, flee? Who then, being such as I, would enter the temple to save his life? I will not enter.
Fa hoy izaho: Moa ny lehilahy tahaka ahy tokony handositra va? Ary iza no olona tahaka ahy no mahazo miditra ao amin’ ny tempoly ka ho velona? Tsy hiditra ao aho.
12 Then perceived I, that lo! it was, not God, who had sent him, —though, a prophecy, he had spoken concerning me, but, Tobiah and Sanballat, had hired him:
Ary hitako fa, indro, tsy Andriamanitra no naniraka azy, fa nilaza izany faminaniana izany hamitahany ahy izy, satria notambazan’ i Tobia sy Sanbala.
13 to this end, hired, he was, to the end that I might be afraid and do so, and might sin, —and it might serve them for an evil report, to the end they might bring reproach upon me.
Izany no nanambazany azy, mba hampitahotra ahy hanaovako izany ka hanotako, dia hahazoany teny tatsy hanaratsiany ahy.
14 Have remembrance, O my God, of Tobiah and of Sanballat, according to these their doings, —moreover also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets, who would have put me in fear.
Ry Andriamanitro ô, tsarovy Tobia sy Sanbala araka izany asany izany mbamin’ i Noadia mpaminanivavy sy ny mpaminany sasany koa, izay nampitahotra ahy.
15 So the wall was finished, on the twenty-fifth of Elul, —in fifty-two days.
Dia vita tamin’ ny roa amby dimam-poloandro ny manda, dia tamin’ ny andro faha-dimy amby roa-polo tamin’ ny volana Elola.
16 And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard, and all the nations that were round about us saw, that they fell greatly in their own eyes, and took knowledge that, from God, had this work been wrought.
Ary rehefa ren’ ny fahavalonay rehetra izany, dia raiki-tahotra ny firenena rehetra manodidina anay, sady hitany fa tsinontsinona izy; ary fantany fa Andriamanitray no nahavitàna izany asa izany.
17 Moreover, in those days, were the nobles of Judah busy with their letters which were going unto Tobiah, —and those of Tobiah were coming unto them;
Ary tamin’ izany andro izany ny manan-kaja amin’ ny Joda dia nampitondra taratasy maro ho any amin’ i Tobia, ary ny avy tamin’ i Tobia kosa tonga tany aminy.
18 for, many in Judah, had taken an oath to him, because he was in marriage affinity with Shecaniah son of Arah, —and, Jehohanan his son, had taken the daughter of Meshullam, son of Berechiah.
Fa nisy maro tany Joda efa nianiana niray tetika taminy, satria vinanton’ i Sekania, zanak’ i Ara, izy; ary Johanana zananilahy efa nanambady ny zanakavavin’ i Mesolama, zanak’ i Berekia.
19 Moreover, his good deeds, were they telling before me, and, my affairs, were they carrying out to him, —letters, did Tobiah send to put me in fear.
Ary nisy koa teo anatrehako nilaza ny soa nataony ary nilaza ny teniko tany aminy kosa. Ary Tobia kosa nampitondra taratasy hampitahotra ahy.
