Nehemiah 3
1 Then arose Eliashib the high priest and his brethren the priests, and built the sheep-gate, they, hallowed it, and set up the doors thereof, —even unto the tower of Hammeah, hallowed they it, unto the tower of Hananel;
Et surrexit Eliasib sacerdos magnus, et fratres eius sacerdotes, et ædificaverunt portam gregis: ipsi sanctificaverunt eam, et statuerunt valvas eius, et usque ad turrim centum cubitorum sanctificaverunt eam, usque ad turrim Hananeel.
2 and, at his hand, built, the men of Jericho, —and at his [other] hand built Zaccur, son of Imri.
Et iuxta eum ædificaverunt viri Iericho: et iuxta eum ædificavit Zachur filius Amri.
3 And, the fish-gate, did the sons of Hassenaah build, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;
Portam autem piscium ædificaverunt filii Asnaa: ipsi texerunt eam, et statuerunt valvas eius, et seras, et vectes. Et iuxta eos ædificavit Marimuth filius Uriæ, filii Accus.
4 and, at their hand, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, and, at their hand, repaired, Meshullum son of Berechiah son of Meshezabel, —and, at their hand, repaired, Zadok son of Baana;
Et iuxta eum ædificavit Mosollam filius Barachiæ, filii Mesezebel: et iuxta eos ædificavit Sadoc filius Baana:
5 and, at their hand, repaired, the Tekoites, —but, their chiefs, put not their neck into the service of their lords.
Et iuxta eos ædificaverunt Thecueni: optimates autem eorum non supposuerunt colla sua in opere Domini sui.
6 And, the old gate, did Joiada son of Paseah, and Meshullam, son of Besodeiah, repair, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;
Et portam veterem ædificaverunt Ioiada filius Phasea, et Mosollam filius Besodia: ipsi texerunt eam, et statuerunt valvas eius, et seras, et vectes:
7 and, at their hand, repaired, Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, —who pertained to the throne of the pasha Beyond the River;
Et iuxta eos ædificaverunt Meltias Gabaonites, et Iadon Meronathites, viri de Gabaon et Maspha, pro duce qui erat in regione trans Flumen.
8 at his hand, repaired, Uzziel son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, and, at his hand, repaired Hananiah son of the perfumers, —and they fortified Jerusalem, as far as the broad wall;
Et iuxta eum ædificavit Eziel filius Araia aurifex: et iuxta eum ædificavit Ananias filius pigmentarii: et dimiserunt Ierusalem usque ad murum plateæ latioris.
9 and, at their hand, repaired, Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem;
Et iuxta eum ædificavit Raphaia filius Hur, princeps vici Ierusalem.
10 and, at their hand, repaired, Jedaiah son of Harumaph, even over against his own house, —and, at his hand, repaired, Hattush, son of Hashabneiah;
Et iuxta eum ædificavit Iedaia filius Haromaph contra domum suam: et iuxta eum ædificavit Hattus filius Haseboniæ.
11 a second length, did Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-moab, repair, —also the tower of the ovens;
Mediam partem vici ædificavit Melchias filius Herem, et Hasub filius Phahath Moab, et turrim furnorum.
12 and, at his hand, repaired, Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem, —he and his daughters.
Et iuxta eum ædificavit Sellum filius Alohes princeps mediæ partis vici Ierusalem, ipse et filiæ eius.
13 The valley-gate, did Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah, repair, —they, built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also a thousand cubits in the wall, as far as the dung-gate.
Et portam vallis ædificavit Hanun, et habitatores Zanoe: ipsi ædificaverunt eam, et statuerunt valvas eius, et seras, et vectes, et mille cubitos in muro usque ad portam sterquilinii.
14 And, the dung-gate, did Malchijah son of Rechab, ruler of the circuit of Beth-haccherem, repair, —he, built it, and set up the doors thereof, he locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
Et portam sterquilinii ædificavit Melchias filius Rechab, princeps vici Bethacharam: ipse ædificavit eam, et statuit valvas eius, et seras, et vectes.
15 And, the fountain-gate, did Shallun son of Col-hozeh ruler of the circuit of Mizpah, repair, he, built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also the wall of the pool of Shelah, by the garden of the king, even as far as the stairs that go down from the city of David;
Et portam fontis ædificavit Sellum filius Cholhoza, princeps pagi Maspha: ipse ædificavit eam, et texit, et statuit valvas eius, et seras, et vectes, et muros piscinæ Siloe in hortum regis, et usque ad gradus, qui descendunt de Civitate David.
16 after him, repaired, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of the half-circuit of Beth-zur, —as far as over against the sepulchres of David, even unto the pool which had been made, and unto the house of heroes;
Post eum ædificavit Nehemias filius Azboc princeps dimidiæ partis vici Bethsur usque contra sepulchrum David et usque ad piscinam, quæ grandi opere constructa est, et usque ad domum fortium.
17 after him, repaired, the Levites, Rehum son of Bani, —at his hand, repaired, Hashabiah, ruler of the half-circuit of Keilah, for his circuit;
Post eum ædificaverunt Levitæ, Rehum filius Benni: post eum ædificavit Hasebias princeps dimidiæ partis vici Ceilæ in vico suo.
18 after him, repaired, their brethren, Bavvai son of Henadad, —ruler of the [other] half-circuit of Keilah;
Post eum ædificaverunt fratres eorum Bavai filius Enadad, princeps dimidiæ partis Ceilæ.
19 and there repaired at his hand, Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, a second length, —over against the ascent of the armoury, at the corner;
Et ædificavit iuxta eum Azer filius Iosue, princeps Maspha mensuram secundam, contra ascensum firmissimi anguli.
20 after him, zealously repaired Baruch son of Zabbai, a second length, —from the corner, unto the opening of the house of Eliashib, the high priest;
Post eum in monte ædificavit Baruch filius Zachai mensuram secundam, ab angulo usque ad portam domus Eliasib sacerdotis magni.
21 after him, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, a second length, —from the opening of the house of Eliashib, even unto the end of the house of Eliashib;
Post eum ædificavit Merimuth filius Uriæ filii Haccus, mensuram secundam, a porta domus Eliasib, donec extenderetur domus Eliasib.
22 and, after him, repaired, the priests, the men of the Circuit;
Et post eum ædificaverunt sacerdotes viri de campestribus Iordanis.
23 after him, repaired, Benjamin and Hasshub, over against their own house, —after him, repaired, Azariah son of Maaseiah son of Ananiah, beside his own house;
Post eum ædificavit Beniamin et Hasub contra domum suam: et post eum ædificavit Azarias filius Maasiæ filii Ananiæ contra domum suam.
24 after him, repaired, Binnui son of Henadad, a second length, —from the house of Azariah, unto the corner, even unto the pinnacle:
Post eum ædificavit Bennui filius Henadad mensuram secundam, a domo Azariæ usque ad flexuram, et usque ad angulum.
25 Palal, son of Uzai, from over against the corner, and the tower that projecteth from the upper house of the king, which belongeth to the court of custody, —after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh.
Phalel filius Ozi contra flexuram et turrim, quæ eminet de domo regis excelsa, id est, in atrio carceris: post eum Phadaia filius Pharos.
26 Now, the Nethinim, were dwelling in Ophel, —as far as over against the water-gate, on the east, and the tower that projecteth;
Nathinæi autem habitabant in Ophel usque contra portam aquarum ad Orientem, et turrim, quæ prominebat.
27 after him, repaired, the Tekoites, a second length, —from over against the great tower that projecteth, even unto the wall of Ophel:
Post eum ædificaverunt Thecueni mensuram secundam e regione, a turre magna et eminente usque ad murum templi.
28 from beside the horse-gate, repaired the priests, every one over against his own house;
Sursum autem a porta equorum ædificaverunt sacerdotes, unusquisque contra domum suam.
29 after him, repaired, Zadok son of Immer, over against his own house, —and, after him, repaired, Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the east-gate;
Post eos ædificavit Sadoc filius Emmer contra domum suam. Et post eum ædificavit Semaia filius Secheniæ, custos portæ Orientalis.
30 after him, repaired, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph, a second length, —after him, repaired, Meshullam son of Berechiah, over against his chamber;
Post eum ædificavit Hanania filius Selemiæ, et Hanun filius Seleph sextus, mensuram secundam: post eum ædificavit Mosollam filius Barachiæ, contra gazophylacium suum.
31 after him, repaired, Malchijah son of Zorphi, as far as the house of the Nethinim, and the traders, —over against the muster-gate, even unto the ascent of the pinnacle;
Post eum ædificavit Melchias filius aurificis usque ad domum Nathinæorum, et scruta vendentium contra portam iudicialem, et usque ad cœnaculum anguli.
32 and, between the ascent of the pinnacle and the sheep-gate, repaired, the goldsmiths, and the traders.
Et inter cœnaculum anguli in porta gregis ædificaverunt aurifices et negotiatores.
