Nehemiah 3

1 Then arose Eliashib the high priest and his brethren the priests, and built the sheep-gate, they, hallowed it, and set up the doors thereof, —even unto the tower of Hammeah, hallowed they it, unto the tower of Hananel;

Ypperstepræsten Eljasjib og hans Brødre Præsterne tog fat paa at bygge Faareporten; de forsynede den med Bjælkeværk og indsatte Portfløjene; derefter byggede de videre hen til Meataarnet og helligede det og igen videre hen til Hanan'eltaarnet.

2 and, at his hand, built, the men of Jericho, —and at his [other] hand built Zaccur, son of Imri.

Ved Siden af ham byggede Mændene fra Jeriko, ved Siden af dem Zakkur, Imris Søn.

3 And, the fish-gate, did the sons of Hassenaah build, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;

Fiskeporten byggede Sena'as Efterkommere; de forsynede den med Bjælkeværk og indsatte Portfløje, Kramper og Portslaaer.

4 and, at their hand, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, and, at their hand, repaired, Meshullum son of Berechiah son of Meshezabel, —and, at their hand, repaired, Zadok son of Baana;

Ved Siden af dem arbejdede Meremot, en Søn af Hakkoz's Søn Urija, med at istandsætte Muren. Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Mesjullam, en Søn af Berekja, en Søn af Mesjezab'el, ved Siden af ham Zadok, Ba'anas Søn.

5 and, at their hand, repaired, the Tekoites, —but, their chiefs, put not their neck into the service of their lords.

Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Folkene fra Tekoa, men de store iblandt dem bøjede ikke deres Nakke under deres Herres Arbejde.

6 And, the old gate, did Joiada son of Paseah, and Meshullam, son of Besodeiah, repair, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;

Jesjanaporten istandsatte Jojada, Paseas Søn, og Mesjullam, Besodejas Søn; de forsynede den med Bjælkeværk og indsatte Portfløje, Kramper og Portslaaer.

7 and, at their hand, repaired, Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, —who pertained to the throne of the pasha Beyond the River;

Ved Siden af dem arbejdede Gibeoniten Melatja og Meronotiten Jadon sammen med Mændene fra Gibeon og Mizpa, der stod under Statholderen hinsides Floden.

8 at his hand, repaired, Uzziel son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, and, at his hand, repaired Hananiah son of the perfumers, —and they fortified Jerusalem, as far as the broad wall;

Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Uzziel, en Søn af Harhaja, en af Guldsmedene. Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Hananja, en af Salvehandlerne; de udbedrede Jerusalem hen til den brede Mur.

9 and, at their hand, repaired, Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem;

Ved Siden af dem arbejdede Øversten over den ene Halvdel af Jerusalems Omraade, Refaja, Hurs Søn.

10 and, at their hand, repaired, Jedaiah son of Harumaph, even over against his own house, —and, at his hand, repaired, Hattush, son of Hashabneiah;

Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Jedaja, Harumafs Søn, ud for sit eget Hus. Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Hattusj, Hasjabnejas Søn.

11 a second length, did Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-moab, repair, —also the tower of the ovens;

En anden Strækning istandsatte Malkija, Harims Søn, og Hassjub, Pahat-Moabs Søn, hen til Ovntaarnet.

12 and, at his hand, repaired, Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem, —he and his daughters.

Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Øversten over den anden Halvdel af Jerusalems Omraade, Sjallum, Hallohesj's Søn, sammen med sine Døtre.

13 The valley-gate, did Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah, repair, —they, built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also a thousand cubits in the wall, as far as the dung-gate.

Dalporten istandsatte Hanun og Folkene fra Zanoa; de byggede den og indsatte Portfløje, Kramper og Portslaaer, og desuden 1000 Alen af Muren hen til Møgporten.

14 And, the dung-gate, did Malchijah son of Rechab, ruler of the circuit of Beth-haccherem, repair, —he, built it, and set up the doors thereof, he locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

Møgporten istandsatte Øversten over Bet-Kerems Omraade, Malkija, Rekabs Søn; han byggede den og indsatte Portfløje, Kramper og Portslaaer.

15 And, the fountain-gate, did Shallun son of Col-hozeh ruler of the circuit of Mizpah, repair, he, built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also the wall of the pool of Shelah, by the garden of the king, even as far as the stairs that go down from the city of David;

Kildeporten istandsatte Øversten over Mizpas Omraade, Sjallun, Kol-Hozes Søn; han byggede den, forsynede den med Tag og indsatte Portfløje, Kramper og Portslaaer; han byggede ogsaa Muren ved Dammen, fra hvilken Vandledningen fører til Kongens Have, og hen til Trinene, der fører ned fra Davidsbyen.

16 after him, repaired, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of the half-circuit of Beth-zur, —as far as over against the sepulchres of David, even unto the pool which had been made, and unto the house of heroes;

Efter ham arbejdede Øversten over den ene Halvdel af Bet-Zurs Omraade, Nehemja, Azbuks Søn, hen til Pladsen ud for Davids Grave, til den udgravede Dam og til Kærnetroppernes Hus.

17 after him, repaired, the Levites, Rehum son of Bani, —at his hand, repaired, Hashabiah, ruler of the half-circuit of Keilah, for his circuit;

Efter ham arbejdede Leviterne, ført af Rehum, Banis Søn. Ved Siden af ham arbejdede Øversten over den ene Halvdel af Ke'ilas Omraade, Hasjabja.

18 after him, repaired, their brethren, Bavvai son of Henadad, —ruler of the [other] half-circuit of Keilah;

Efter ham arbejdede deres Bysbørn, ført af Binnuj, Henadads Søn, Øversten over den anden Halvdel af Ke'ilas Omraade.

19 and there repaired at his hand, Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, a second length, —over against the ascent of the armoury, at the corner;

Ved Siden af ham istandsatte Øversten over Mizpa, Ezer, Jesuas Søn, en anden Strækning lige ud for Opgangen til Tøjhuset i Krogen.

20 after him, zealously repaired Baruch son of Zabbai, a second length, —from the corner, unto the opening of the house of Eliashib, the high priest;

Efter ham istandsatte Baruk, Zabbajs Søn, op ad Bjerget en Strækning fra Krogen til Indgangen til Ypperstepræsten Eljasjibs Hus.

21 after him, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, a second length, —from the opening of the house of Eliashib, even unto the end of the house of Eliashib;

Efter ham istandsatte Meremot, en Søn af Hakkoz's Søn Urija, en Strækning fra Indgangen til Eljasjibs Hus til Gavlen.

22 and, after him, repaired, the priests, the men of the Circuit;

Efter ham arbejdede Præsterne, Mændene fra Omegnen.

23 after him, repaired, Benjamin and Hasshub, over against their own house, —after him, repaired, Azariah son of Maaseiah son of Ananiah, beside his own house;

Efter dem arbejdede Binjamin og Hassjub ud for deres Huse. Efter ham arbejdede Azarja, en Søn af Ma'aseja, en Søn af Ananja, ved Siden af sit Hus.

24 after him, repaired, Binnui son of Henadad, a second length, —from the house of Azariah, unto the corner, even unto the pinnacle:

Efter ham istandsatte Binnuj, Henadads Søn, en Strækning fra Azarjas Hus til Krogen og til Hjørnet.

25 Palal, son of Uzai, from over against the corner, and the tower that projecteth from the upper house of the king, which belongeth to the court of custody, —after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh.

Efter ham arbejdede Palal, Uzajs Søn, lige ud for Krogen og det Taarn, der springer frem fra det øvre kongelige Hus ved Fængselsgaarden. Efter ham arbejdede Pedaja, Par'osj's Søn,

26 Now, the Nethinim, were dwelling in Ophel, —as far as over against the water-gate, on the east, and the tower that projecteth;

til Stedet ud for Vandporten mod Øst og det fremspringende Taarn.

27 after him, repaired, the Tekoites, a second length, —from over against the great tower that projecteth, even unto the wall of Ophel:

Efter ham istandsatte Folkene fra Tekoa en Strækning fra Stedet ud for det store, fremspringende Taarn til Ofels Mur. (Paa Ofel boede Tempeltrællene).

28 from beside the horse-gate, repaired the priests, every one over against his own house;

Over for Hesteporten arbejdede Præsterne, hver lige ud for sit Hus.

29 after him, repaired, Zadok son of Immer, over against his own house, —and, after him, repaired, Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the east-gate;

Efter dem arbejdede Zadok, Immers Søn, ud for sit Hus. Efter ham arbejdede Østportens Vogter Sjemaja, Sjekanjas Søn.

30 after him, repaired, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph, a second length, —after him, repaired, Meshullam son of Berechiah, over against his chamber;

Efter ham istandsatte Hananja, Sjelemjas Søn, og Hanun, Zalafs sjette Søn, en Strækning. Efter ham arbejdede Mesjullam, Berekjas Søn, ud for sit Kammer.

31 after him, repaired, Malchijah son of Zorphi, as far as the house of the Nethinim, and the traders, —over against the muster-gate, even unto the ascent of the pinnacle;

Efter ham arbejdede Malkija, en af Guldsmedene, hen til Tempeltrællenes Hus. Og Kræmmerne istandsatte Stykket ud for Mifkadporten og hen til Tagbygningen ved Hjørnet.

32 and, between the ascent of the pinnacle and the sheep-gate, repaired, the goldsmiths, and the traders.

Og mellem Tagbygningen ved Hjørnet og Faareporten arbejdede Guldsmedene og Kræmmerne.
