Nahum 1
1 The oracle, on Nineveh, —the scroll of the vision of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
നിനവേക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രവചനം. എൽക്കോശ്യനായ നഹൂമിന്റെ ദർശനഗ്രന്ഥം.
2 A GOD jealous and avenging, is Yahweh, an avenger, is Yahweh, and a lord of wrath, an avenger, is Yahweh towards his adversaries, and, a retainer [of anger], is he to his foes.
യഹോവ തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ള ദൈവം ആകുന്നു; അവിടന്നു പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യുന്നവനും കോപം നിറഞ്ഞവനുമാകുന്നു. യഹോവ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോട് പകരംവീട്ടുകയും തന്റെ വൈരികൾക്കായി ക്രോധം സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
3 Yahweh, is slow to anger, but great in vigour, He will not leave, unpunished, as for Yahweh, in storm-wind and in tempest, is his way, and, clouds, are the dust of his feet.
യഹോവ ദീർഘക്ഷമയുള്ളവനും മഹാശക്തനുമാകുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് കുറ്റംചെയ്യുന്നവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല. അവിടത്തെ വഴി ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിലും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിലുമുണ്ട്, മേഘങ്ങൾ അവിടത്തെ പാദങ്ങളിലെ പൊടിയുമാകുന്നു.
4 Who rebuketh the sea and hath made it dry, and, all the streams, hath he dried up, —withered are Bashan and Carmel, Even the bloom of Lebanon, is withered:
അവിടന്ന് സമുദ്രത്തെ ശാസിച്ച് ഉണക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; നദികളെയെല്ലാം വറ്റിക്കുന്നു. ബാശാനും കർമേലും ഉണങ്ങുന്നു, ലെബാനോനിലെ പുഷ്പങ്ങൾ വാടിപ്പോകുന്നു.
5 Mountains, have trembled because of him, and, the hills, have melted, —and the earth, hath lifted itself up, at his presence, the world also, and all who dwell therein.
പർവതങ്ങൾ അവിടത്തെ മുമ്പിൽ കുലുങ്ങുന്നു; കുന്നുകൾ ഉരുകിപ്പോകുന്നു. അവിടത്തെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ ഭൂമി വിറകൊള്ളുന്നു, ഭൂലോകവും അതിലെ സകലനിവാസികളും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ.
6 Before his indignation, who shall stand? And who shall abide the glow of his anger? His wrath, hath been poured forth like fire, and, the rocks, have been broken down because of him.
അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധത്തിനുമുമ്പിൽ ആർക്കു നിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയും? അവിടത്തെ ഉഗ്രകോപം ആർക്കു താങ്ങാൻ കഴിയും? അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധം അഗ്നിപോലെ ചൊരിയുന്നു; പാറകൾ അവിടത്തെ മുമ്പിൽ തകർന്നുപോകുന്നു.
7 Good is Yahweh, as a protection in the day of distress, —and one who acknowledgeth them who seek refuge in him.
യഹോവ നല്ലവനും അനർഥദിവസത്തിൽ അഭയസ്ഥാനവും ആകുന്നു. തന്നിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവരെ അവിടന്ന് അറിയുന്നു,
8 But, with an overflow rolling on, a full end, will he make of them who rise up against him, —and, his foes, will he pursue into darkness.
എന്നാൽ, കരകവിയുന്ന പ്രവാഹത്തിൽ അവിടന്ന് നിനവേയെ നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കും; അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ അന്ധകാരത്തിൽ പിൻതുടരും.
9 What can ye devise against Yahweh? A full end, is he making, —Distress, shall not rise up twice:
യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ നിങ്ങൾ എന്തു ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തുന്നു? അവിടന്ന് നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കും; കഷ്ടത രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം വരികയില്ല.
10 Though they were like thorns intertwined, and as drunkards drenched with their drink, yet have they been devoured, like stubble fully dry.
കെട്ടുപിണഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന മുൾപ്പടർപ്പുപോലെ അവർ ആയിരുന്നാലും തങ്ങളുടെ മദ്യത്തിൽ മത്തുപിടിച്ചിരുന്നാലും; വൈക്കോൽക്കുറ്റിപോലെ അവർ ദഹിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടും.
11 Out of thee, hath one come forth—plotting, against Yahweh, wickedness, —A counselor of the Abandoned One.
യഹോവയ്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കുകയും വഞ്ചന ഉപദേശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ നിനവേ, നിന്നിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 Thus, saith Yahweh, Though they be in full force, and so in great numbers, yet, even so, have they been cut off, and have passed away, —If I humble thee [once], I will not humble thee again.
യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “പൂർണശക്തരും സംഖ്യാബലമുള്ളവരും ആയിരുന്നാലും അവർ ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും; അവർ ഇല്ലാതെയാകും. ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയെങ്കിലും, യെഹൂദയേ, ഇനിയൊരിക്കലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുകയില്ല.
13 Now, therefore, will I break his yoke from off thee, —and, thy fetters, will I tear off.
ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽനിന്ന് അവരുടെ നുകം ഞാൻ ഒടിച്ചുകളയും നിന്റെ വിലങ്ങുകൾ അഴിച്ചുകളയും.”
14 Then will Yahweh give command concerning thee, None of thy name shall be sown any more, —out of the house of thy gods, will I cut off carved image and molten image, I will appoint thy grave, for thou art of little esteem.
എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് കൽപ്പന പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു: “നിന്റെ നാമം നിലനിർത്താൻ നിനക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല. നിന്റെ ദേവന്മാരുടെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലുള്ള രൂപങ്ങളെയും വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും ഞാൻ നശിപ്പിക്കും. നീ നീചനാകുകയാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കായി ഒരു ശവക്കുഴി ഒരുക്കും.”
15 Lo! upon the mountains, The feet of one, who bringeth Good Tidings! who publisheth Prosperity! Celebrate, O Judah, thy pilgrim festivals, fulfil thy vows, for, not again, any more, shall the Abandoned One, pass through thee, he hath been wholly cut off.
ഇതാ, പർവതങ്ങളിൽ സുവാർത്താദൂതനായി സമാധാനം ഘോഷിക്കുന്നവന്റെ പാദങ്ങൾ. യെഹൂദേ, നിന്റെ പെരുന്നാളുകൾ ആഘോഷിക്കുക, നിന്റെ നേർച്ചകൾ നിറവേറ്റുക. ദുഷ്ടർ ഇനി നിന്നിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയില്ല; അവൻ നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും.
