< Nahum 2 >
1 He that breaketh in pieces hath come up over thy face, Keep the keeps, —watch the way, brace the loins, make vigour very firm.
Ko ia ʻoku laiki kuo ʻalu hake ʻi ho ʻao: toʻo ʻae mahafu, leʻohi ʻae hala, nonoʻo ho kongaloto, fakalahi ʻaupito hoʻo mālohi.
2 For Yahweh hath restored the excellency of Jacob, like the excellency of Israel, —for the plunderers have plundered them, and, their vine branches, have they marred.
He kuo liliu ʻe Sihova ʻae nāunau ʻo Sēkope, hangē ko e nāunau ʻo ʻIsileli: he kuo ohu kinautolu kituʻa ʻe he kau ohu, mo maumauʻi honau ngaahi vaʻa vaine.
3 The shield of his heroes, is made red, the men of war, are clad in crimson, on fire, are the chariot-steels, on the day he maketh ready, —and, the lances, are put in motion.
He kuo ngaohi ke kulokula ʻae pā ʻo ʻene kau tangata mālohi, ʻoku kofu kulaʻahoʻaho ʻa ʻene kau toʻa: ʻe ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi tūhulu vela, mo e ngaahi saliote ʻi he ʻaho ʻo ʻene teuteu, pea ʻe ngalulululu fakamanavahē ʻae ngaahi ʻakau ko e fea.
4 In the streets, madly go the chariots, they rush along in the broadways, —their appearance, is like torches, as lightnings, hither and thither do they run.
ʻE ʻoho ʻae ngaahi saliote ʻi he ngaahi hala, te nau fepaki ʻae taha ki he taha, ʻi he ngaahi hala laulahi: te nau hā mai ʻo tatau mo e ngaahi tūhulu, te nau lele hangē ko e ʻuhila.
5 Let him call to mind his nobles, they shall stumble as they go—let them hasten to her wall, yet the storming cover, is prepared.
Te ne toe lau ʻene kau tangata tuʻu ki muʻa: te nau tōhumu ʻi heʻenau laka; te nau vave atu ki hono ʻā, pea ko e tali tau ʻe teuteu.
6 The gates of the rivers, have been opened, —and, the palace, doth quake.
ʻE fakaava ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe ngaahi vaitafe, pea ʻe ʻauha ʻae fale fakaʻeiʻeiki.
7 And, Huzzab, hath been taken captive—hath been led up, —and, her handmaids, are making a moan like the sound of doves, as they taber upon their heart.
Pea ʻe taki ʻa Husapi ki he pōpula, ʻe puke ia ʻo ʻomi, pea ʻe taki ia ʻe heʻene kau kaunanga, kae tangi ʻo hangē ʻae fanga lupe, mo tasipi ki honau fatafata.
8 Yet, as for Nineveh, like a reservoir of waters, are her waters, —but, those men, are in flight! Stand! stand! but no one is turning.
Ka e talu mei muʻa mo e tatau ʻa Ninive mo e anovai, ka te nau hola atu. Te nau kalanga, “Tuʻu, tuʻu;” ka e ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻe sio ki mui.
9 Plunder silver, plunder gold, —and there is no end to the costly furnishing, rich with every article of delight.
Mou ʻave ʻae ngaahi meʻa vetekina, ko e siliva, mou ʻave ʻae ngaahi meʻa vetekina, ko e koula: he ʻoku ʻikai hono ngata ʻoe koloa mo e nāunau mei he ngaahi meʻa teuteu matamatalelei.
10 Emptiness, yea turned to emptiness, aye deserted [is she]! with, heart, unnerved, and, a tottering, of knees, and, anguish, in all loins, and, the faces of them all, have withdrawn their colour.
ʻOku ne ʻatā, mo ngaongao mo lala: pea ʻoku vaivai ʻae loto, pea ʻoku fehapeaki ʻae ongo tui, pea ʻoku lahi ʻae langa ʻi he ngaahi kongaloto kotoa pē, pea ʻoku ʻuliʻuli honau mata kotoa pē.
11 Where is the lair of the lions? Yea the very feeding-place of the young lions, —where walked the lion, the lioness, the lion’s whelp, with none to make them afraid?
Ko faʻa ʻae potu nofoʻanga ʻoe fanga laione, mo e keinangaʻanga ʻoe fanga laione mui, ʻaia naʻe ʻalu ai ʻae laione, ʻio, ʻae laione motuʻa mo e ʻuhikiʻi laione, pea naʻe ʻikai fakamanavahēʻi kinautolu ʻe ha niʻihi?
12 The lion, used to tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and to strangle for his lionesses, —and then fill with prey his holes, and his lairs with what he had torn.
Naʻe haehae ʻe he laione ke taau mo ʻene fānau, pea ne sisinaʻi maʻa hono fanga laione fefine, pea naʻe fakapito hono ngaahi luo ʻi he meʻakai, mo hono ngaahi ʻana ʻaki ʻae meʻa kuo fakamālohia.
13 Behold me! against thee, Declareth Yahweh of hosts, Therefore will I burn up in smoke her chariots, and, thy young lions, shall be devoured by the sword, —so will I cut off, out of the earth, thy prey, nor shall be heard any more, the voice of thine envoy.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Vakai, ʻoku ou tuʻu kiate koe, pea te u tutu ʻa ʻene ngaahi saliote ʻi he ʻahu, pea ʻe fakaʻauha ʻe he heletā ʻae fanga laione mui: pea te u motuhi hoʻo meʻakai mei māmani, pea ko e leʻo ʻo ho kau talafekau ʻe ʻikai ha toe fanongo ki ai.”
