< Matthew 5 >
1 But, seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, —and, when he had taken a seat, his disciples came unto him;
Ohuu nnipakuw no saa no, ɔkɔɔ bepɔw bi so. Ɔtenaa ase no, nʼasuafo no kɔɔ ne nkyɛn.
2 and, opening his mouth, he began teaching them, saying: —
Na ofii ase kyerɛkyerɛɛ wɔn se,
3 Happy, the destitute, in spirit; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens;
“Nhyira ne wɔn a wonim sɛ wɔyɛ ahiafo wɔ honhom mu, na wɔn na ɔsoro ahenni yɛ wɔn dea.
4 Happy, they who mourn; for, they, shall be comforted:
Nhyira ne wɔn a wɔn werɛ ahow, na wɔn na Onyankopɔn bɛkyekye wɔn werɛ.
5 Happy, the meek; for, they, shall inherit the earth:
Nhyira ne ahobrɛasefo, na wɔn na Onyankopɔn bɛma wɔadi asase so.
6 Happy, they who hunger and thirst for righteousness; for, they, shall be filled:
Nhyira ne wɔn a wɔn pɛ ne sɛ wɔbɛyɛ Onyankopɔn apɛde, na wɔn na Onyankopɔn bɛma wɔn nea ehia wɔn.
7 Happy, the merciful; for, they, shall receive mercy:
Nhyira ne wɔn a wohu mmɔbɔ, na wɔn na Onyankopɔn behu wɔn mmɔbɔ.
8 Happy, the pure, in heart; for, they, shall, see God:
Nhyira ne wɔn a wɔn koma mu tew, na wɔn na wobehu Onyankopɔn.
9 Happy, the peacemakers; for, they, shall be, called sons of God:
Nhyira ne apatafo, na wɔn na Onyankopɔn bɛfrɛ wɔn ne mma.
10 Happy, they who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens.
Nhyira ne wɔn a esiane sɛ wɔyɛ Onyankopɔn apɛde nti, wɔtaa wɔn, na wɔn na Ɔsoro Ahenni no yɛ wɔn dea.
11 Happy, are ye, whensoever they may reproach you and persecute you, and say every evil thing against you, falsely, for my sake:
“Nhyira ne mo a me din mu nti, wɔyaw mo, taa mo, twa atoro, ka asɛmmɔne to mo so.
12 Rejoice and exult, because, your reward, is great in the heavens; for, so, persecuted they the prophets who were before you.
Momma mo ani nnye na monsɛpɛw mo ho, efisɛ mowɔ akatua a ɛso wɔ ɔsoro. Munhu sɛ saa ara na wɔtaa adiyifo a wodii mo kan no.”
13 Ye, are the salt of the earth; but, if the salt become tasteless, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good, for nothing, any more, save, being cast out, to be trampled on by men.
“Mone asase yi so nkyene. Sɛ nkyene dɛ yera a, ɔkwan bɛn so na wɔbɛfa ama ayɛ nkyene bio? Enye mma hwee bio, gye sɛ wohwie gu na nnipa tiatia so.
14 Ye, are the light of the world: it is impossible for a city to be hid, on the top of a mountain, lying.
“Mone wiase kanea. Kurow a ɛda bepɔw so no ntumi nhintaw.
15 Neither light they a lamp, and place it under the measure; but upon the lampstand, and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
Wɔnnsɔ kanea mfa nsie, na mmom wɔde si petee mu na ahyerɛn ama wɔn a wɔwɔ ofi no mu no nyinaa.
16 In like manner, let your light shine before men, —that they may see your good works, —and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
Saa ara na momma mo nneyɛe pa nna adi mma nnipa nhu na wɔafa so ahyɛ mo Agya a ɔwɔ soro no anuonyam.”
17 Do not think, that I came to pull down the law, or the prophets, —I came not to pull down, but to fulfil.
“Munnsusuw sɛ maba sɛ merebɛsɛe Mmara no anaa Adiyifo no nkyerɛkyerɛ no. Na mmom maba sɛ merebɛhyɛ no ma sɛnea ne nyinaa bɛba mu pɛpɛɛpɛ.
18 For, verily, I say unto you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one least letter, or one point, may in nowise pass away from the law, till all be accomplished.
Munhu sɛ ɔsoro ne asase da so wɔ hɔ yi, Mmara no mu biribiara rensakra da kosi sɛ ne nyinaa bɛba mu.
19 Whosoever, therefore, shall relax one of these commandments, the least, and teach men so, shall be called, least, in the kingdom of the heavens; but, whosoever shall do and teach, the same, shall be called, great, in the kingdom of the heavens.
Eyi nti, obiara a obebu mmara nsɛm no mu fa bi so na ɔbɛkyerɛkyerɛ afoforo ama wɔn nso abu mmara nsɛm no mu fa bi so no bɛyɛ akumaa ɔsoro ahenni mu. Na obiara a obedi mmara no so, na ɔbɛkyerɛkyerɛ afoforo ama wɔn nso adi mmara no so no bɛyɛ ɔkɛse Ɔsoro Ahenni mu.
20 For I say unto you, that, unless your righteousness exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, in nowise, may ye enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Enti merebɔ mo kɔkɔ sɛ, sɛ mopɛ sɛ mokɔ ɔsoro ahenni mu de a, gye sɛ moyɛ Onyankopɔn apɛde sen nea Kyerɛwsɛm no akyerɛkyerɛfo no ne Farisifo no yɛ.
21 Ye have heard, that it was said, to them of olden time, —Thou shalt not commit murder, and, whosoever shall commit murder, shall be, liable, to judgment.
“Mose mmara no ka se, ‘Nea odi awu no, ɔno nso ɛsɛ sɛ wokum no bi.’
22 But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his brother, shall be, liable, to judgment, —and, whosoever shall say to his brother, Worthless one!, shall be, liable, to the high council; and, whosoever shall say, Rebel!, shall be, liable, unto the fiery gehenna. (Geenna )
Na me de, nea mereka ne sɛ, obiara a ne bo befuw ne nua no, wobebu no atɛn. Bio, obiara a ɔbɛyeyaw ne nua no, wɔbɛfrɛ no wɔ mpanyin anim. Afei obiara a ɔbɛka akyerɛ ne nua se, ‘Ogyimifo’ no bɛkɔ amanehunu gya mu. (Geenna )
23 If, therefore, thou be bearing thy gift towards the altar, and, there, shouldst remember that, thy brother, hath aught against thee,
“Enti sɛ ɛba sɛ worekɔbɔ afɔre na wokae sɛ wo ne wo nua wɔ asɛm a,
24 leave, there, thy gift before the altar, and withdraw, —first, be reconciled unto thy brother, and, then, coming, be offering thy gift.
gyae afɔre no bɔ, na kɔ na wo ne wo nua no nkɔbɔ mu ansa na woakɔbɔ wʼafɔre no.
25 Be making agreement with thine adversary, quickly, while thou art with him, in the way, —lest once thine adversary deliver thee up unto the judge, and the judge, unto the officer, and, into prison, thou be cast.
“Sɛ wo ne obi nya asɛm a, wo ne no mmɔ mu ntɛm, na wamfa wo ankɔ asennii ankɔma otemmufo, na otemmufo no amfa wo anhyɛ afiasehwɛfo nsa, na afiasehwɛfo no amfa wo ankɔto afiase.
26 Verily, I say unto thee, In nowise, mayest thou come out from thence, until thou pay the last halfpenny.
Mereka no nokware akyerɛ mo se, ansa na wubefi asennii hɔ no, gye sɛ woatua sika biara a wɔregye afi wo hɔ no.
27 Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
“Mose mmara no ka se, ‘Nsɛe aware.’
28 But, I, say unto you, that, Every one who looketh on a woman so as to covet her, already, hath committed adultery with her, in his heart.
Na me de, nea mereka ne sɛ: Obiara a ohu ɔbea na ne kɔn dɔ no ne koma mu no, abɔ aguaman.
29 And, if, thy right eye, is causing thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, be cast into gehenna. (Geenna )
Sɛ wʼani baako a eye to wo hintidua a, eye sɛ wubetu atow akyene. Efisɛ eye sɛ wobɛhwere wʼakwaa fa bi sen sɛ wɔbɛtow wo nipadua no nyinaa akyene amanehunu gya mu. (Geenna )
30 And, if, thy right hand, is causing thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, into gehenna, depart. (Geenna )
Saa ara nso na sɛ wo nsa a eye to wo hintidua a, eye sɛ wubetwa atow akyene. Efisɛ eye sɛ wobɛhwere wʼakwaa fa bi sen sɛ wɔbɛtow wo nipadua nyinaa akyene amanehunu gya mu. (Geenna )
31 It was said, moreover, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement;
“Mose mmara no ka se, ‘Obiara a obegyaa ne yere no mma no awaregyae krataa.’
32 But, I, say unto you, that, Everyone who divorceth his wife—saving for unfaithfulness, causeth her to be made an adulteress, —[and, whosoever shall marry a divorced woman, committeth adultery].
Na me de, nea mereka ne sɛ, sɛ ɔbarima bi gyaa ne yere a ɛnyɛ sɛ ɔbea no abɔ aguaman na ɔbea no san kɔware bio a, na ɔbarima a ogyaa no no ama ɔbea no asɛe aware. Ɔbarima foforo a ɔbɛware ɔbea no nso asɛe aware saa ara.
33 Again, ye have heard that it was said, to them of olden time, Thou shalt not swear falsely, —but shalt render unto the Lord, thine oaths.
“Bio, Mose mmara no ka se, ‘Mmu bɔ a woahyɛ Onyankopɔn no so, na mmom di bɔ a woahyɛ no no so.’
34 But, I, tell you—not to swear, at all: Neither by heaven, because it is the, throne of God, —
Na me de, nea mereka ne sɛ: Monnka ntam mmfa nhyɛ bɔ. Monnnɔ ɔsoro, efisɛ ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn ahengua.
35 Nor by the earth, because it is his, footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because, it is the, city, of the Great King;
Monnnɔ fam, efisɛ ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn nan ase agua. Monnnɔ Yerusalem, efisɛ ɛyɛ ɔhenkɛse kuropɔn.
36 Nor, by thine own head, mayest thou swear, because thou art not able to make, one hair, white or black.
Mfa wo ti nka ntam, efisɛ worentumi nnan tinwi baako mpo mma ɛnyɛ fitaa anaa tuntum.
37 But let your word be, Yea, yea, —Nay, nay; and, what goeth beyond these, is, of evil.
Momma mo nsɛm nyɛ ‘Yiw’ anaa ‘Dabi.’ Asɛm biara a wobɛka a ɛnyɛ Yiw anaa dabi no fi ɔbonsam.
38 Ye have heard, that it was said, —Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.
“Mose mmara no ka se, ‘Sɛ obi tu wʼani a, tu ne de bi. Sɛ obi tu wo se nso a, tu ne de bi.’
39 But, I, tell you, not to resist evil, —Nay, whoever is smiting thee on the right cheek, turn to him, the other also;
Na me de, nea mereka ne se: Mommfa bɔne ntua bɔne so ka! Sɛ obi bɔ wʼaso nifa mu a, dan benkum no nso ma no na ɔmmɔ mu.
40 And, him who is desiring thee to be judged, and to take, thy tunic, let him have, thy mantle also.
Sɛ obi ne wo di asɛm gye wʼatade nhyɛase a, worɔw wʼatade nguguso ka ho ma no.
41 And, whoever shall impress thee one mile, go with him two:
Sɛ obi hyɛ wo sɛ, wo ne no nnantew ɔkwansin baako a, wo ne no nkɔ akwansin abien.
42 To him who is asking thee, give; and, him who is desiring from thee to borrow, do not thou turn away.
Sɛ obi srɛ wo biribi a, fa ma no; obi pɛ sɛ ɔfɛm wo hɔ biribi a, fa fɛm no.
43 Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
“Moate sɛ wɔaka se, ‘Dɔ wo yɔnko na tan wo tamfo.’
44 But, I, say unto you, Be loving your enemies, and praying for them who are persecuting you:
Na me de, nea mereka ne sɛ: monnɔ mo atamfo na mommɔ mpae mma wɔn a wɔhaw mo.
45 That ye may become sons of your Father who is in the heavens: because, his sun, he maketh arise on evil and good, and sendeth rain, on just and unjust.
Eyi bɛma moayɛ mo Agya a ɔwɔ ɔsoro no mma, efisɛ ɔma ne owia pue, ma ne osu tɔ ma nnipa bɔne ne nnipa pa nyinaa pɛ.
46 For, if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? are not, even the tax-collectors, the same thing, doing?
Sɛ modɔ wɔn a wɔdɔ mo no nko ara a, akatua bɛn na mubenya? Ɛnyɛ saa ara na nnebɔneyɛfo nso yɛ?
47 And, if ye salute your brethren only, what, more than common, are ye doing? are not, even the nations, the same thing, doing?
Sɛ mukyia wɔn a munim wɔn nko ara a, nsonoe bɛn na ɛda mo ne afoforo ntam? Ɛnyɛ saa ara na nnebɔneyɛfo nso yɛ?
48 Ye, therefore, shall become, perfect: as, your heavenly Father, is perfect.
Enti monyɛ pɛ sɛnea mo Agya a ɔwɔ ɔsoro no yɛ pɛ no.
