Matthew 17
1 And, after six days, Jesus taketh with him, Peter and James and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain, apart;
A po sześciu dniach wziął Jezus Piotra, Jakuba i Jana, jego brata, i wprowadził ich na wysoką górę, [żeby byli] na osobności.
2 and was transformed before them, —and his face shone as the sun, and, his garments, became white as the light.

3 And lo! there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, conversing with him.

4 And Peter, answering, said unto Jesus—Lord! it is, delightful, for us, to be here, —If thou wilt, I will make here three tents, for thee, one, and, for Moses, one, and, for Elijah, one.
Wtedy Piotr powiedział do Jezusa: Panie, dobrze nam tu być. Jeśli chcesz, postawimy tu trzy namioty: jeden dla ciebie, jeden dla Mojżesza i jeden dla Eliasza.
5 While yet he was speaking, lo! a brightly shining cloud, overshadowed them, and lo! a voice, out of the cloud, saying—This, is, my Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight, —Be hearkening to him.
Kiedy on jeszcze mówił, oto jasny obłok zacienił ich, a z obłoku rozległ się głos: To jest mój umiłowany Syn, w którym mam upodobanie, jego słuchajcie.
6 And, hearing it, the disciples fell upon their face, and were caused to fear exceedingly.
Uczniowie, słysząc to, upadli na twarz i bardzo się bali.
7 And Jesus came near, and, touching them, said—Arise! and be not afraid.
Wtedy Jezus podszedł, dotknął ich i powiedział: Wstańcie, nie bójcie się.
8 And, lifting up their eyes, no one, saw they, save Jesus, himself, alone.
Oni zaś, podniósłszy oczy, nikogo nie widzieli, tylko samego Jezusa.
9 And, as they were coming down out of the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying—Unto no one, may ye tell the vision, until the Son of Man, from among the dead shall arise.
A gdy schodzili z góry, Jezus im przykazał: Nikomu nie mówcie o tym widzeniu, aż Syn Człowieczy zmartwychwstanie.
10 And the disciples questioned him, saying—Why then do, the Scribes, say, that, Elijah, must needs come, first?
I pytali go jego uczniowie: Dlaczego więc uczeni w Piśmie mówią, że najpierw ma przyjść Eliasz?
11 And, he, answering, said—Elijah, indeed, cometh, and will restored all things;
A Jezus im odpowiedział: Istotnie, najpierw przyjdzie Eliasz i wszystko odnowi.
12 But, I say unto you—that, Elijah, just now, came, —and they recognised him not, but did with him, whatsoever they pleased: Thus, the Son of Man also, is destined to suffer by them.
Lecz mówię wam, że Eliasz już przyszedł, jednak nie poznali go, ale zrobili z nim, co chcieli. Tak i Syn Człowieczy dozna od nich cierpień.
13 Then, perceived the disciples, that, concerning John the Immerser, he spake to them.
Wtedy uczniowie zrozumieli, że mówił im o Janie Chrzcicielu.
14 And, when they came unto the multitude, there approached him a man, falling on his knees to him,
A gdy przyszli do tłumu, podszedł do niego [pewien] człowiek, upadł przed nim na kolana;
15 and saying—Lord! have mercy upon my son, —because he is lunatic, and in a grievous condition; For, many times, falleth he into the fire, and, many times, into the water.
I powiedział: Panie, zmiłuj się nad moim synem, bo jest obłąkanym i bardzo cierpi. Często bowiem wpada w ogień i często w wodę.
16 And I brought him unto thy disciples, and they could not cure, him.
Przyprowadziłem go do twoich uczniów, ale nie mogli go uzdrowić.
17 And Jesus, answering, said—O faithless and perverted generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me, here.
A Jezus odpowiedział: O pokolenie bez wiary i przewrotne! Jak długo będę z wami? Jak długo mam was znosić? Przyprowadźcie mi go tutaj.
18 And Jesus rebuked it; and the demon came out of him, —and cured was the boy, from that hour.
I zgromił Jezus tego demona, i wyszedł z niego. Od tej chwili chłopiec był zdrowy.
19 Then, the disciples, coming near, to Jesus, privately, said—Wherefore could, we, not cast it out?
Wtedy uczniowie, podszedłszy do Jezusa, zapytali go na osobności: Czemu my nie mogliśmy go wypędzić?
20 And, he, saith unto them—Because of your little faith. For, verily, I say unto you—If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say to this mountain, remove hence yonder; and it shall be removed, and, nothing, shall be impossible to you.
A Jezus im odpowiedział: Z powodu waszej niewiary. Zaprawdę bowiem powiadam wam: Jeśli będziecie mieć wiarę jak ziarno gorczycy, powiecie tej górze: Przenieś się stąd na tamto miejsce, a przeniesie się. I nic nie będzie dla was niemożliwe.
Lecz ten rodzaj nie wychodzi inaczej, jak tylko przez modlitwę i post.
22 And, as they were being gathered together in Galilee, Jesus said unto them—The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men;
A gdy przebywali w Galilei, Jezus powiedział do nich: Syn Człowieczy zostanie wydany w ręce ludzi;
23 And they will slay him, and, on the third day, will he, arise. And they were grieved exceedingly.
I zabiją go, ale trzeciego dnia zmartwychwstanie. I bardzo się zasmucili.
24 And, when they came into Capernaum, they who, the half shekel, were receiving, came near unto Peter, and said, Your teacher, doth he not pay the half shekel?
A gdy przyszli do Kafarnaum, podeszli do Piotra poborcy podatku i zapytali: Czy wasz nauczyciel nie płaci podatku?
25 He saith—Yea. And, coming into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, How, to thee, doth it seem, Simon? The kings of the earth, of whom receive they dues or tax? from their sons, or from the aliens?
On odpowiedział: Płaci. A gdy wchodził do domu, uprzedził go Jezus, mówiąc: Jak ci się wydaje, Szymonie? Od kogo królowie ziemscy pobierają cło albo podatek? Od swoich synów czy od obcych?
26 And, when he said, From the aliens, Jesus said unto him, Well then, free, are the sons!
Piotr mu odpowiedział: Od obcych. I powiedział mu Jezus: A więc synowie są wolni.
27 But, that we may not cause them to stumble, go unto the sea, and cast in a hook, and, the first fish that cometh up, take, and, opening its mouth, thou shalt find a shekel, —that, take, and give to them for me and thee.
Ale żebyśmy ich nie zgorszyli, idź nad morze, zarzuć wędkę, weź pierwszą złowioną rybę i otwórz jej pyszczek, a znajdziesz statera. Weź go i daj im za mnie i za siebie.
