Matthew 16
1 And, the Pharisees and Sadducees coming near, putting him to the test, requested him, a sign out of the heaven, to shew unto them.
tadaanii. m phiruu"sina. h siduukina"scaagatya ta. m pariik. situ. m nabhamiiya. m ki ncana lak. sma dar"sayitu. m tasmai nivedayaamaasu. h|
2 But, he, answering said unto them— When evening cometh ye say, Fair! for fiery is the heaven;
tata. h sa uktavaan, sandhyaayaa. m nabhaso raktatvaad yuuya. m vadatha, "svo nirmmala. m dina. m bhavi. syati;
3 And at morn, To-day, a storm! for fiery, and yet sad, is the heaven. The face of the heaven indeed, ye learn to distinguish, —but, the signs of the times, ye cannot.
praata. hkaale ca nabhaso raktatvaat malinatvaa nca vadatha, jha nbh"sadya bhavi. syati| he kapa. tino yadi yuuyam antariik. sasya lak. sma boddhu. m "saknutha, tarhi kaalasyaitasya lak. sma katha. m boddhu. m na "saknutha?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation, a sign, doth seek after, and, a sign, will not be given it, —save the sign of Jonah. And, leaving them behind, he departed.
etatkaalasya du. s.to vyabhicaarii ca va. m"so lak. sma gave. sayati, kintu yuunaso bhavi. syadvaadino lak. sma vinaanyat kimapi lak. sma taan na dar"sayiyyate| tadaanii. m sa taan vihaaya pratasthe|
5 And the disciples coming, to the other side, had forgotten to take loaves.
anantaramanyapaaragamanakaale tasya "si. syaa. h puupamaanetu. m vism. rtavanta. h|
6 And, Jesus, said unto them—Mind! and beware, of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
yii"sustaanavaadiit, yuuya. m phiruu"sinaa. m siduukinaa nca ki. nva. m prati saavadhaanaa. h satarkaa"sca bhavata|
7 And, they, began to deliberate among themselves, saying—Because, loaves, we took not.
tena te paraspara. m vivicya kathayitumaarebhire, vaya. m puupaanaanetu. m vism. rtavanta etatkaara. naad iti kathayati|
8 And, observing it, Jesus said—Why are ye deliberating among yourselves, ye little-of-faith! because, loaves, ye have not?
kintu yii"sustadvij naaya taanavocat, he stokavi"svaasino yuuya. m puupaanaanayanamadhi kuta. h parasparametad vivi. mkya?
9 Not yet, perceive ye, neither remember, —The five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye received?
yu. smaabhi. h kimadyaapi na j naayate? pa ncabhi. h puupai. h pa ncasahasrapuru. se. su bhojite. su bhak. syocchi. s.tapuur. naan kati. dalakaan samag. rhliita. m;
10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many hampers ye received?
tathaa saptabhi. h puupai"scatu. hsahasrapuru. se. su bhejite. su kati. dalakaan samag. rhliita, tat ki. m yu. smaabhirna smaryyate?
11 How is it ye perceive not, that, not concerning loaves, spake I unto you, —but beware of the leaven, of the Pharisees and Sadducees?
tasmaat phiruu"sinaa. m siduukinaa nca ki. nva. m prati saavadhaanaasti. s.thata, kathaamimaam aha. m puupaanadhi naakathaya. m, etad yuuya. m kuto na budhyadhve?
12 Then, understood they that he did not bid them beware of [the] leaven [of loaves] but of, the teaching, of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
tadaanii. m puupaki. nva. m prati saavadhaanaasti. s.thateti noktvaa phiruu"sinaa. m siduukinaa nca upade"sa. m prati saavadhaanaasti. s.thateti kathitavaan, iti tairabodhi|
13 And, Jesus coming into the parts of Caesarea of Philip, began questioning his disciples, saying—Who are men saying that, the Son of Man, is?
apara nca yii"su. h kaisariyaa-philipiprade"samaagatya "si. syaan ap. rcchat, yo. aha. m manujasuta. h so. aha. m ka. h? lokairaha. m kimucye?
14 And, they, said—Some, indeed, John the Immerser, and, others, Elijah, —but, others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
tadaanii. m te kathitavanta. h, kecid vadanti tva. m majjayitaa yohan, kecidvadanti, tvam eliya. h, kecicca vadanti, tva. m yirimiyo vaa ka"scid bhavi. syadvaadiiti|
15 He saith unto them—But who say, ye, that I am?
pa"scaat sa taan papraccha, yuuya. m maa. m ka. m vadatha? tata. h "simon pitara uvaaca,
16 And, Simon Peter, answering, said—Thou, art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
tvamamare"svarasyaabhi. siktaputra. h|
17 And Jesus, answering, said to him—Happy, art thou, Simon Bar-yona, —because, flesh and blood, revealed it not unto thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.
tato yii"su. h kathitavaan, he yuunasa. h putra "simon tva. m dhanya. h; yata. h kopi anujastvayyetajj naana. m nodapaadayat, kintu mama svargasya. h pitodapaadayat|
18 And, I also, unto thee, say—Thou, art Peter, —and, upon this rock, will I build my assembly, and, the gates of hades, shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)

19 I will give thee, the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, —and, whatsoever thou shalt bind upon the earth, shall be bound in the heavens, and, whatsoever thou shalt loose upon the earth, shall be loosed in the heavens.
aha. m tubhya. m svargiiyaraajyasya ku njikaa. m daasyaami, tena yat ki ncana tva. m p. rthivyaa. m bha. mtsyasi tatsvarge bha. mtsyate, yacca ki ncana mahyaa. m mok. syasi tat svarge mok. syate|
20 Then, straitly charged he the disciples, lest, to any man, they should say—He, is, the Christ.

21 From that time, began Jesus Christ to be pointing out to his disciples that he must needs, into Jerusalem, go away, and, many things, suffer, from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, —and on, the third day, arise.

22 And, taking him aside, Peter began to rebuke him, saying—Mercy on thee Lord! In nowise, shall, this, befall thee.
tadaanii. m pitarastasya kara. m gh. rtvaa tarjayitvaa kathayitumaarabdhavaan, he prabho, tat tvatto duura. m yaatu, tvaa. m prati kadaapi na gha. ti. syate|
23 But, he, turning, said to Peter—Withdraw behind me, Satan! A snare, art thou of mine, because thou art not regarding the things of God, but the things of men.
kintu sa vadana. m paraavartya pitara. m jagaada, he vighnakaarin, matsammukhaad duuriibhava, tva. m maa. m baadhase, ii"svariiyakaaryyaat maanu. siiyakaaryya. m tubhya. m rocate|
24 Then, Jesus said unto his disciples—If any one intendeth, after me, to come, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and be following me;
anantara. m yii"su. h sviiya"si. syaan uktavaan ya. h ka"scit mama pa"scaadgaamii bhavitum icchati, sa sva. m daamyatu, tathaa svakru"sa. m g. rhlan matpa"scaadaayaatu|
25 For, whosoever intendeth, his life, to save, shall lose it, —but, whosoever shall lose his life, for my sake, shall find it.
yato ya. h praa. naan rak. situmicchati, sa taan haarayi. syati, kintu yo madartha. m nijapraa. naan haarayati, sa taan praapsyati|
26 For what shall a man be profited, though, the whole world, he gain, and, his life, he forfeit? Or what shall a man give, in exchange for his life?
maanu. so yadi sarvva. m jagat labhate nijapra. naan haarayati, tarhi tasya ko laabha. h? manujo nijapraa. naanaa. m vinimayena vaa ki. m daatu. m "saknoti?
27 For the Son of Man is destined to be coming, in the glory of his Father, with his messengers, —and, then, will he give back unto each one, according to his practice.
manujasuta. h svaduutai. h saaka. m pitu. h prabhaave. naagami. syati; tadaa pratimanuja. m svasvakarmmaanusaaraat phala. m daasyati|
28 Verily, I say unto you—There are some of those, here standing, who, indeed, shall in nowise taste of death, until they see the Son of Man, coming in his kingdom.
aha. m yu. smaan tathya. m vacmi, saraajya. m manujasutam aagata. m na pa"syanto m. rtyu. m na svaadi. syanti, etaad. r"saa. h katipayajanaa atraapi da. n.daayamaanaa. h santi|
