Matthew 12
1 In that season, went Jesus, on, the sabbath, through the cornfields, —and, his disciples, hungered, and began to pluck ears of corn, and to eat.
En ce temps-là, Jésus traversait les champs de blé le jour du sabbat. Ses disciples, qui avaient faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger.
2 But, the Pharisees, observing it, said unto him, Lo! thy disciples, are doing what is not allowed to do, on sabbath.
Mais les pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent: « Voici que tes disciples font ce qu'il n'est pas permis de faire le jour du sabbat. »
3 And he said unto them, have ye never read what, David, did, when he hungered, and they who were with him? how
Mais il leur dit: « N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David quand il eut faim, et ceux qui étaient avec lui:
4 he entered into the house of God and, the presence-bread, did eat, which it was not, allowable, for him to eat, nor for them who were with him, —save for the priests, alone?
comment il est entré dans la maison de Dieu et a mangé le pain de proposition, qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, ni à ceux qui étaient avec lui, mais seulement aux prêtres?
5 Or have ye not read, in the law, that, on the sabbaths, the priests, in the temple, the sabbath, profane, and are, blameless?
N'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que, le jour du sabbat, les prêtres du temple profanent le sabbat et ne sont pas coupables?
6 But I say unto you, —Something greater than the Temple, is here!
Mais moi, je vous dis que quelqu'un de plus grand que le temple est ici.
7 If, however, ye had known what this meaneth—Mercy, I desire, and not, sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the blameless;
Mais si vous aviez su ce que cela signifie: « Je veux la miséricorde et non les sacrifices", vous n'auriez pas condamné les innocents.
8 For, the Son of Man, is, Lord of the Sabbath.
Car le Fils de l'homme est le maître du sabbat. »
9 And, passing on from thence, he came into their synagogue;
Il partit de là et entra dans leur synagogue.
10 and lo! a man having, a withered hand, and they questioned him, saying, Is it allowable, on the sabbath, to heal? that they might accuse him.
Et voici, il y avait là un homme qui avait la main desséchée. Ils lui demandèrent: « Est-il permis de guérir le jour du sabbat? », afin de l'accuser.
11 And said unto them, What man, from among yourselves, [shall there be], —Who shall have one sheep, and, if this should fall, on the sabbath, into a pit, will not lay hold of it, and raise it?
Il leur dit: « Quel est parmi vous l'homme qui a une brebis et qui, si celle-ci tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la saisit pas pour la retirer?
12 How much better, then, a man, than, a sheep? So that it is allowable, on the sabbath, nobly, to act.
Combien l'homme a-t-il plus de valeur qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien le jour du sabbat. »
13 Then saith he unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand! And he stretched it forth, —and it was restored, whole, as the other.
Alors il dit à l'homme: « Étends ta main. » Il l'étendit; et elle fut rendue entière, comme l'autre.
14 And the Pharisees, going forth, took, counsel, against him, to the end that, him, they might destroy.
Mais les pharisiens sortirent et conspirèrent contre lui, afin de le faire périr.
15 But, Jesus, taking note, retired from thence, —and many followed him, and he cured them all;
Jésus, s'en étant aperçu, se retira de là. Une grande foule le suivit; il les guérit tous,
16 and straitly charged them, lest they should make him, manifest:
et leur ordonna de ne pas le faire connaître,
17 that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: —
afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète, en ces termes,
18 Lo! my servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom, my soul, delighteth, —I will put my Spirit upon him, and, justice, unto the nations, will he report:
« Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, mon bien-aimé, en qui mon âme se complaît. Je mettrai mon Esprit sur lui. Il proclamera la justice aux nations.
19 He will not strive, nor will he cry out, nor shall any hear, in the broadways, his voice:
Il ne luttera pas, il ne criera pas, personne n'entendra sa voix dans les rues.
20 A bruised cane, will he not break, and, a smoking wick, will he not quench, —until he urge on, justice, to victory,
Il ne brisera pas un roseau meurtri. Il n'éteindra pas un lin qui fume, jusqu'à ce qu'il mène la justice à la victoire.
21 And, in his name, shall nations hope.
En son nom, les nations espéreront. »
22 Then they brought unto him, one demonized, blind and dumb, —and he cured him, so that the dumb did speak and see.
Alors on lui amena un démoniaque, aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, de sorte que l'aveugle et le muet parlaient et voyaient.
23 And all the multitudes were beside themselves, and were saying, Can, this one, be, the Son of David?
Toute la foule était stupéfaite et disait: « Est-ce là le fils de David? »
24 But, the Pharisees, hearing it, said, This one, doth not cast out the demons, save in Beelzebul ruler of the demons.
Mais les pharisiens, ayant entendu cela, dirent: « Cet homme ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébul, le prince des démons. »
25 And, knowing their inward thoughts, he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself, is laid waste, —and, no city or house divided against itself, will stand;
Connaissant leurs pensées, Jésus leur dit: « Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est dévasté, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne peut subsister.
26 And, if, Satan, is casting, Satan, out, against himself, hath he become divided, —How then shall, his kingdom, stand?
Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même. Comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?
27 And, if, I, in Beelzebul, am casting out the demons, In whom are, your sons, casting them out? Wherefore, they, shall be, judges of you.
Si c'est par Béelzébul que je chasse les démons, par qui vos enfants les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront vos juges.
28 But, if, in God’s Spirit, I, am casting out the demons, then doubtless hath come upon you unawares, the kingdom of God!
Mais si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons, alors le Royaume de Dieu est venu sur vous.
29 Or how can one enter the house of the mighty and, seize his goods, unless, first, he bind the mighty one? and, then, his house, he will plunder.
Ou bien, comment peut-on entrer dans la maison d'un homme fort et piller ses biens, si l'on ne lie d'abord l'homme fort? Alors il pillera sa maison.
30 He that is no with me, is, against me, —and, he that gathereth not with me, scattereth
« Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'assemble pas avec moi se disperse.
31 Wherefore, I say unto you, All sin and profane speaking, shall be forgiven unto men, —but, the speaking profanely of the Spirit, shall not be forgiven;
C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: tout péché et tout blasphème sera pardonné aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera pas pardonné aux hommes.
32 And, whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him, —but, whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or the coming. (aiōn g165)
Quiconque parlera contre le Fils de l'homme, il lui sera pardonné; mais quiconque parlera contre le Saint-Esprit, il ne lui sera pardonné ni dans ce siècle, ni dans celui qui vient. (aiōn g165)
33 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree worthless, and its fruit worthless; for, from the fruit, the tree is known.
« Ou bien faites que l'arbre soit bon et que son fruit soit bon, ou bien faites que l'arbre soit corrompu et que son fruit soit corrompu; car on reconnaît l'arbre à son fruit.
34 Broods of vipers! How can ye speak, good things, being, evil? For, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
Races de vipères, comment pouvez-vous, étant méchants, dire de bonnes choses? Car c'est de l'abondance du cœur que la bouche parle.
35 The good man, out of the good treasure, putteth forth, good things; and, the evil man, out of the evil treasure, putteth forth, evil things.
L'homme bon, de son bon trésor, tire de bonnes choses, et l'homme mauvais, de son mauvais trésor, tire de mauvaises choses.
36 But I say unto you, That, every useless expression that men shall utter, they shall render, concerning it, an account, in a day of judgment;
Je vous le dis: toute parole oiseuse que les hommes prononcent, ils en rendront compte au jour du jugement.
37 For, by thy words, shalt thou be, justified, and, by thy words, shalt thou be condemned.
Car c'est par vos paroles que vous serez justifiés, et c'est par vos paroles que vous serez condamnés. »
38 Then, answered him, certain of the Scribes and Pharisees, saying, Teacher! we desire of thee, a sign, to behold.
Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens prirent la parole et dirent: « Maître, nous voulons voir un signe de ta part. »
39 But, he, answering, said unto them, A wicked and adulterous generation, a sign, doth seek, and, a sign, will not be, given, it, save the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Mais il leur répondit: « Une génération méchante et adultère cherche un signe; mais il ne lui sera donné d'autre signe que celui du prophète Jonas.
40 For, just as was Jonah in the belly of the sea-monster three days and three nights, so, will be the Son of Man, in the heart of the earth, three days and three nights.
Car, de même que Jonas a passé trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre d'un énorme poisson, de même le Fils de l'homme passera trois jours et trois nuits au cœur de la terre.
41 Men of Nineveh, will rise up in the judgment, with this generation, and will condemn it, —because they repented into the proclamation of Jonah; and lo! something greater than Jonah, here.
Les hommes de Ninive se lèveront en jugement avec cette génération et la condamneront, car ils se sont repentis à la prédication de Jonas; et voici que quelqu'un de plus grand que Jonas est là.
42 The queen of the south, will arise in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it—because she came out of the ends of the earth, to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and lo! something greater than Solomon, here.
La reine du Midi se lèvera au moment du jugement de cette génération et la condamnera, car elle est venue des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon; et voici qu'il y a ici quelqu'un de plus grand que Salomon.
43 But, when the impure spirit goeth out of the man, it passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, —and findeth it not.
« Lorsqu'un esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il passe par des lieux sans eau, cherchant le repos, et il ne le trouve pas.
44 Then, it saith, Into my house, will I return whence I came out, —and, coming, findeth it empty [and] swept and adorned.
Il dit alors: « Je vais retourner dans ma maison d'où je suis sorti »; et quand il est revenu, il la trouve vide, balayée et rangée.
45 Then, it goeth, and taketh along with itself, seven diverse spirits, more wicked than itself, —and, entering, abideth there; and, the last state of that man, becometh, worse than the first. So, shall it be, with this, wicked, generation.
Alors il va et prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus mauvais que lui, et ils y entrent et y demeurent. Le dernier état de cet homme devient pire que le premier. Il en sera de même pour cette génération mauvaise. »
46 While yet he was speaking unto the multitudes, lo! his mother and brethren, were standing without, seeking to speak with him.
Comme il parlait encore à la foule, voici que sa mère et ses frères se tenaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler.
47 [And one said to him, Lo! thy mother and thy brethren, without, are standing, seeking, to speak, with thee.]
Quelqu'un lui dit: « Voici ta mère et tes frères qui sont dehors et qui cherchent à te parler. »
48 But, he, answering, said unto him that was telling him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Mais il répondit à celui qui lui parlait: « Qui est ma mère? Qui sont mes frères? »
49 And, stretching forth his hand towards his disciples, he said, Lo! my mother and my brethren!
Il étendit la main vers ses disciples, et dit: « Voici ma mère et mes frères!
50 For, whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in the heavens, he, is my, brother, and sister, and mother.
Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère, et ma sœur, et ma mère. »
