1 The Lineage Roll of Jesus Christ, —Son of David, Son of Abraham.
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

And Jesse was the father of David the king; and David the king was the father of Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 And Solomon begat Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begat Abijah, and Abijah begat Asa;
And Solomon was the father of Roboam; and Roboam was the father of Abia; and Abia was the father of Asa;
8 And Asa begat Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Uzziah;
And Asa was the father of Josaphat; and Josaphat was the father of Joram; and Joram was the father of Ozias;
9 And Uzziah begat Jotham, and Jotham begat Ahaz, and Ahaz begat Hezekiah:
And Ozias was the father of Joatham; and Joatham was the father of Achaz; and Achaz was the father of Ezekias;
10 And Hezekiah begat Manasseh, and Manasseh begat Amon, and Amon begat Josiah;
And Ezekias was the father of Manasses; and Manasses was the father of Amon; and Amon was the father of Josias;
11 And Josiah begat Jechoniah, and his brethren, —upon the removal to Babylon.
And Josias was the father of Jechonias and his brothers, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 And, after the removal to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias was the father of Salathiel; and Salathiel was the father of Zorobabel;
13 And Zerubbabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor;
And Zorobabel was the father of Abiud; and Abiud was the father of Eliakim; and Eliakim was the father of Azor;

16 And Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, —who is called Christ.
And Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So then, all the generations from Abraham unto David, are, fourteen, generations, and, from David unto the removal to Babylon, fourteen, generations; and, from the removal to Babylon unto the Christ, fourteen, generations.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth, of [Jesus] Christ, was, thus: His mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, —before they came together, she was found with child by [the] Holy Spirit.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Moreover, Joseph her husband, being, righteous, and yet unwilling to expose her, —intended, privately, to divorce her.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
20 But, when, these things, he had pondered, lo! a messenger of the Lord, by dream, appeared to him, saying, —Joseph, son of David! do not fear to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for, that which, in her, hath been begotten, is of [the], Holy, Spirit.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Moreover she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, —for, he, will save his people from their sins.
And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 But, all this, hath come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord, through the prophet, saying:
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Lo! a Virgin, shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, —and they shall call his name Emmanuel; which is, being translated, God with us.
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 And Joseph, awaking, from his sleep, did as the messenger of the Lord directed him, —and took unto him his wife;
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took to him his wife:
25 and knew her not, until she had brought forth a son, —and he called his name Jesus.
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
