Mark 15
1 And, straightway, early, when they had made, a council, the High-priest, with the Elders, and Scribes, and all the High-council, binding Jesus, led him away, and delivered him up unto Pilate.
Dès le matin, les princes des prêtres s’étant assemblés avec les anciens, et les scribes, et tout le conseil, ils lièrent Jésus, l’emmenèrent et le livrèrent à Pilate.
2 And Pilate questioned him—Art, thou, the king of the Jews? And, he, answering him, saith—Thou, sayest.
Et Pilate l’interrogea: Es-tu le roi des Juifs? Jésus lui répondant, lui dit: Tu le dis.
3 And the High-priests began to accuse him, of many things.
Et les princes des prêtres portaient contre lui beaucoup d’accusations.
4 And, Pilate, again, was questioning him, [saying]—Answerest thou, nothing? See! of how many things, they are accusing thee!
Pilate l’interrogea de nouveau, disant: Tu ne réponds rien? Vois de combien de choses ils t’accusent.
5 But, Jesus, no further, answered, anything, so that Pilate began to marvel.
Mais Jésus ne répondit pas davantage, de sorte que Pilate en était étonné.
6 Now, at feast time, he was wont to release unto them one prisoner, whom they were claiming.
Or à un des jours de la fête, il avait coutume de remettre au peuple un des prisonniers, celui qu’ils demandaient.
7 And there was the so-called Barabbas, with the rebels, bound, even with them who, in the rebellion, had committed, murder.
Il y avait alors un nommé Barabbas qui avait été mis en prison avec d’autres séditieux, et qui avait commis un meurtre dans la sédition.
8 And, going up, the multitude began to be claiming—according as he was wont to do for them.
Le peuple étant donc monté devant le prétoire, commença à demander ce qu’il leur accordait toujours.
9 But, Pilate, answered them, saying—Will ye, I release unto you, the King of the Jews?
Pilate leur répondant, dit: Voulez-vous que je vous délivre le roi des Juifs?
10 For he was getting to know that, for envy, had [the High-priests] delivered him up.
Car il savait que c’était par envie que les princes des prêtres l’avaient livré.
11 But, the High-priests, stirred up the multitude, that, rather Barabbas, he should release unto them.
Mais les pontifes excitèrent le peuple à demander qu’il leur délivrât plutôt Barabbas.
12 But, Pilate, again answering, was saying unto them—What then shall I do with him whom ye call, the King of the Jews?
Pilate répondant encore, leur dit: Que voulez-vous donc que je fasse du roi des Juifs?
13 And, they, again, cried out—Crucify him!
Mais de nouveau ils crièrent: Crucifiez-le!
14 But, Pilate, was saying unto them—Why! what, evil, hath he done? And, they, vehemently, cried out—Crucify him!
Pilate, cependant, leur disait: Mais quel mal a-t-il fait? Et eux criaient encore plus: Crucifiez-le!
15 And Pilate, being minded to do what would satisfy, the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, having scourged him, that he should be crucified.
Pilate donc, voulant complaire au peuple, leur remit Barabbas, et il leur livra Jésus déchiré de verges, pour être crucifié.
16 And, the soldiers, led him away, inside the court, which is a judgment-hall, —and called together the whole band;
Or les soldats le conduisirent dans la cour du prétoire, et ayant convoqué toute la cohorte,
17 and they array him in purple, and set upon him, when they have plaited it; a crown of thorns, —
Ils le vêtirent de pourpre, et tressant une couronne d’épines, ils la mirent sur sa tête.
18 and began to be saluting him—Joy to thee! King of the Jews!
Puis ils commencèrent à le saluer, disant: Salut, roi des Juifs!
19 and were striking him on the head with a reed, and were spitting at him, —and, bowing their knees, were doing him homage.
Et ils lui frappaient la tête avec un roseau; et ils crachaient sur lui, et fléchissant le genou, ils l’adoraient.
20 And, when they had mocked him, they put off him, the purple, and put on him, his own garments. And they lead him forth, that they may crucify him.
Et après qu’ils se furent ainsi joués de lui, ils lui ôtèrent la pourpre et le couvrirent de ses vêtements; puis ils l’emmenèrent pour le crucifier.
21 And they impress a certain passer-by, Simon a Cyrenian, coming from a field, the father of Alexander and Rufus, —that he may carry his cross.
Et ils contraignirent un certain Simon de Cyrène, père d’Alexandre et de Rufus, qui passait par là en revenant de sa maison des champs, de porter sa croix.
22 And they bring him unto the Golgotha place, which is, being translated, Skull-place.
Ensuite ils le conduisirent au lieu appelé Golgotha; ce que l’on interprète par lieu du Calvaire.
23 And they would have given him, myrrhed wine, —who, however, received it not.
Ils lui présentaient à boire du vin mêlé de myrrhe; mais il n’en prit point.
24 And they crucify him, and part asunder his garments, casting a lot upon them—who should have anything.
Et l’ayant crucifié, ils se partagèrent ses vêtements, y jetant le sort, pour savoir ce que chacun en emporterait.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
Or il était la troisième heure lorsqu’ils le crucifièrent,
26 And the inscription of his accusation, had been inscribed—THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Et le titre de sa condamnation était ainsi écrit: Le Roi des Juifs.
27 And, with him, they crucify, two robbers, one on his right hand, and one on his left.
Ils crucifièrent avec lui deux voleurs, l’un à sa droite, l’autre à sa gauche.
Ainsi fut accomplie l’Ecriture, qui dit: Il a été mis au rang des scélérats.
29 And, the passers-by, were reviling him, shaking their heads, and saying—Aha! thou who wast pulling down the shrine, and building one in three days!
Et les passants le blasphémaient, branlant la tête, et disant: Ah! toi qui détruis le temple de Dieu et le rebâtis en trois jours,
30 Save thyself, —coming down from the cross.
Sauve-toi toi-même, et descends de la croix.
31 Likewise, the High-priests also, mocking one to another, with the Scribes, were saying—Others, he saved, himself, he cannot save!
Pareillement les princes des prêtres eux-mêmes se moquant de lui avec les scribes, se disaient l’un à l’autre: Il a sauvé les autres, et il ne peut se sauver lui-même.
32 The Christ, the King of Israel—let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And, they who had been crucified with him, were casting it in his teeth.
Que le Christ, le roi d’Israël, descende maintenant de la croix, afin que nous voyions et que nous croyions. Et ceux qui avaient été crucifiés avec lui, l’outrageaient de même.
33 And, when it was the sixth hour, darkness, came on all the land—until the ninth hour;
La sixième heure venue, les ténèbres se répandirent sur toute la terre jusqu’à la neuvième heure.
34 and, at the ninth hour, Jesus, uttered a cry, with a loud voice—Eloi! Eloi! lama sabachthanei? which is, being translated—My God! [My God!] to what end, didst thou forsake me?
Et à la neuvième heure, Jésus cria d’une voix forte, disant; Eloï, Eloï, lamma sabacthani; ce que l’on interprète ainsi: Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m’avez-vous délaissé?
35 And, some of the by-standers, having heard, were saying—See! Elijah, he calleth!
Quelques-uns de ceux qui l’environnaient, l’entendant, disaient: Voilà qu’il appelle Elie.
36 And one, running, filled a sponge with vinegar, and, putting it about a reed, was giving him to drink, saying—Stay! let us see whether Elijah is coming, to take him down!
Et aussitôt l’un d’eux, courant, emplit de vinaigre une éponge, et l’ayant mise au bout d’un roseau, il lui présentait à boire, disant: Laissez; voyons si Elie viendra le délivrer.
37 But, Jesus, sending out a loud voice, ceased to breathe.
Mais Jésus ayant poussé un grand cri, expira.
38 And, the veil of the Temple, was rent into two, from top to bottom.
Et le voile du temple se déchira en deux, depuis le haut jusqu’en bas.
39 Now the centurion, who was standing near, out over against him, seeing, that, thus, he ceased to breathe, said—Truly, this man, was God’s son!
Or le centurion, qui était vis-à-vis, voyant qu’il avait expiré en jetant un pareil cri, dit: Vraiment, cet homme était le fils de Dieu.
40 And there were, women also, from afar, looking on, —among whom were both Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Little and Joses, and Salome;
Il y avait là aussi des femmes qui regardaient de loin, parmi lesquelles étaient Marie-Madeleine, Marie, mère de Jacques le Mineur et de Joseph, et Salomé;
41 who, when he was in Galilee, used to follow him, and minister unto him, —and many other women, who had come up with him unto Jerusalem.
Et qui, lorsqu’il était en Galilée, le suivaient et le servaient; et beaucoup d’autres qui étaient montées avec lui à Jérusalem.
42 And evening, already, having begun, since it was a preparation, that is, the eve of a Sabbath,
Le soir étant déjà venu (parce que c’était le jour de la préparation qui précède le sabbat),
43 Joseph of Arimathaea, a noble counsellor, who, also himself, was awaiting the kingdom of God, came; and, venturing, went in unto Pilate, and claimed the body of Jesus.
Joseph d’Arimathie, noble décurion, qui lui-même attendait le royaume de Dieu, vint et entra hardiment chez Pilate, et lui demanda le corps de Jésus.
44 But, Pilate, wondered whether, already, he was dead; and, calling near the centurion, questioned him—whether he had, already, died.
Pilate s’étonnait qu’il fût mort sitôt; il fit donc venir le centurion, et lui demanda s’il était déjà mort.
45 And, getting to know from the centurion, he presented the corpse unto Joseph.
Or s’en étant assuré par le centurion, il donna le corps à Joseph.
46 And, buying a fine Indian cloth, he took him down, and wrapped him about with the cloth, and laid him in a tomb, which had been hewn out of a rock, —and rolled near a stone upon the door of the tomb.
Et Joseph ayant acheté un linceul et détaché Jésus de la croix, l’enveloppa dans le linceul, le mit dans un sépulcre qui avait été taillé dans le roc, et roula une pierre à l’entrée du sépulcre.
47 Now, Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Joses, were viewing how he had been laid.
Or Marie-Madeleine, et Marie, mère de Joseph, regardaient où on le mettrait.
