Luke 19
1 And, having entered, he was passing through Jericho;
Na rĩrĩ, Jesũ nĩatoonyire Jeriko, akĩhĩtũkĩra kuo.
2 and lo! a man, by name called Zacchaeus, and, he, was a chief tax-collector, and [he] was rich.
Nakuo kũu Jeriko nĩ kwarĩ mũndũ wetagwo Zakayo; warĩ mũnene wa etia mbeeca cia igooti na aarĩ gĩtonga.
3 And he was seeking to see Jesus, what sort of man he was, and could not for the multitude, because, in stature, he was, small.
Nĩendaga kuona Jesũ aarĩ ũ, no ndangĩahotire kũmuona nĩ ũndũ wa ũingĩ wa andũ, na tondũ aarĩ mũndũ mũkuhĩ.
4 And, running forward unto the front, he got up a sycamore-tree, that he might see him; for, by that way, was he about to pass.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩhanyũka mbere yao, akĩhaica mũkũyũ nĩguo amuone, nĩgũkorwo Jesũ aageragĩra njĩra ĩyo.
5 And, as he came up to the place, looking up, Jesus said unto him—Zacchaeus! make haste, and come down; For, to-day, in thy house, I must needs abide.
Nake Jesũ aakinya hau, agĩtiira maitho na igũrũ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Zakayo, harũrũka narua, tondũ ũmũthĩ no nginya thiĩ gwaku mũciĩ.”
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩharũrũka narua, akĩmũnyiita ũgeni akenete.
7 And all, when they beheld, began to murmur, saying—With a sinful man, hath he gone in to lodge!
Nao andũ moona ũguo makĩambĩrĩria kũnuguna, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ aathiĩ gũceera kwa mũndũ mwĩhia.”
8 But, taking his stand, Zacchaeus said unto the Lord—Lo! the half of my possessions, Lord, unto the destitute, I give; and, if, from anyone, I have taken aught by false accusation, I give back fourfold.
Nowe Zakayo akĩrũgama, akĩĩra Mwathani atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, rĩu nĩngũheana nuthu ya indo ciakwa kũrĩ athĩĩni, na hangĩkorwo harĩ mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ndunyĩte kĩndũ, nĩngũmũrĩha kĩndũ kĩu maita mana.”
9 And Jesus said unto him—This day, salvation, unto this house, hath come, —for that, he too, is, a son of Abraham;
Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũmũthĩ ũhonokio nĩũkinyĩte nyũmba ĩno, tondũ mũndũ ũyũ o nake nĩ mũrũ wa Iburahĩmu.
10 For the Son of Man came, to seek and to save what was lost.
Nĩgũkorwo Mũrũ wa Mũndũ ookire gũcaria na kũhonokia kĩrĩa kĩũrĩte.”
11 And, because they were hearing these things, he added and spake a parable, because of his being near Jerusalem, and their supposing that, instantly, was the kingdom of God to shine forth.
Na o mathikĩrĩirie maũndũ macio, agĩthiĩ na mbere kũmahe ũhoro na ngerekano, tondũ nĩakuhĩrĩirie Jerusalemu, na andũ acio meciiragia atĩ ũthamaki wa Ngai warĩ o hakuhĩ gũkinya.
12 He said, therefore—A certain man, of noble birth, went into a country far away, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Akĩmeera atĩrĩ: “Mũndũ ũmwe warĩ igweta nĩathiire bũrũri wa kũraya agatuuo mũthamaki, na thuutha wa ũguo acooke.
13 And, calling ten servants of his own, he gave unto them ten minas, and said unto them—Do business, till I come.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩĩta ndungata ciake ikũmi, agĩcihe mina ikũmi, agĩciĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Onjorithagiai mbeeca ici nginya rĩrĩa ngacooka.’
14 But, his citizens, hated him, and sent off an embassy after him, saying—We desire not, this, man, to be made king over us!
“No andũ a bũrũri wake nĩmamũthũire, nao magĩtũma andũ mamuume thuutha makoige atĩrĩ, ‘Tũtikwenda mũndũ ũyũ atuĩke mũthamaki witũ.’
15 And it came to pass, when he returned, having received the kingdom, that he bade be called unto him these servants, to whom he had given the silver, that he might take note, what business they had done.
“Na rĩrĩ, rĩrĩa aacookire arĩkĩtie gũtuuo mũthamaki, agĩtũmanĩra ndungata iria aaneete mbeeca, nĩguo amenye uumithio ũrĩa cionete.
16 And the first came near, saying—Lord! thy mina, hath made, ten minas.
“Ndungata ya mbere ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyumithĩtie mina ingĩ ikũmi.’
17 And he said to him—Well done! good servant. Because, in a very small thing, thou hast been, faithful, have thou authority over, ten cities.
“Nake Mwathi wayo akĩmĩcookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩwĩkĩte wega, wee ndungata yakwa njega! Na tondũ wa kwĩhokeka na ũndũ mũnini ũguo, tuĩka mũrori wa matũũra manene ikũmi.’
18 And the second came, saying—Thy mina, lord, hath made five minas.
“Nayo ndungata ya keerĩ ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyumithĩtie mina ingĩ ithano.’
19 And he said, to him also, And, thou, be over five cities.
“Nake mwathi wayo akĩmĩĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Tuĩka mũrori wa matũũra manene matano.’
20 And, the other, came, saying—Lord, lo! thy mina, which I kept lying by in a napkin;
“Nayo, ndungata ya gatatũ ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyo ĩno; ndaamĩohire na gĩtambaya ngĩmĩhitha.
21 For I was afraid of thee, because, a harsh man, thou art, —Thou takest up, what thou layedst not down, and reapest, what thou sowedst not!
Nĩndagwĩtigĩrire, tondũ ũrĩ mũndũ mũũru. Nĩwoyaga kĩrĩa ũtarutĩire wĩra, na ũkagetha kĩrĩa ũtahandĩte.’
22 He saith to him—Out of thy mouth, do I judge thee, O wicked servant! Thou knewest that, I, a harsh man, am, —taking up, what I laid not down, and reaping, what I did not sow;
“Nake mwathi wayo akĩmĩcookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Wee ndungata ĩno njaganu! Ngũgũtuĩra ciira kũringana na ciugo ciaku. Githĩ nĩwooĩ atĩ ndĩ mũũru, na atĩ njoyaga kĩrĩa itarutĩire wĩra na ngagetha kĩrĩa itahaandĩte?
23 Wherefore, then, didst thou not place my silver upon a [money-changer’s] table, and, I, when I came, with interest might have exacted it?
Wakĩagire kũiga mbeeca ciakwa bengi nĩkĩ, nĩgeetha rĩrĩa ngaacooka ndĩcioye irĩ na uumithio?’
24 And, unto the by-standers, he said—Take, from him, the mina, and give unto him that hath, the ten minas; —
“Agĩcooka akĩĩra arĩa maarũgamĩte hau atĩrĩ, ‘Mũtunyei mina ĩyo arĩ nayo, mũmĩnengere ũrĩa ũrĩ na mina ikũmi.’
25 And they said to him, Lord! he hath ten minas; —
“Makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, githĩ ndarĩ na mina ikũmi!’
26 I tell you—Unto everyone that hath, shall be given, whereas, from him that hath not, even what he hath, shall be taken away.
“Nake akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũrĩ na kĩndũ, nĩakongererwo ingĩ nyingĩ, no ũrĩa ũtarĩ na kĩndũ, o na kĩrĩa arĩ nakĩo nĩagatuunywo.
27 But, these mine enemies who desired not that I should be made king over them, bring ye here, and slay them outright before me.
No rĩrĩ, andũ acio marĩ ũthũ na niĩ, o acio mateendaga nduĩke mũthamaki wao-rĩ, marehei, mũmooragĩre o haha ndĩ.’”
28 And, having said these things, he was moving on in front, going up into Jerusalem.
Nake Jesũ aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, agĩthiĩ na mbere kwambata erekeire Jerusalemu.
29 And it came to pass, as he drew near unto Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount which is called the Mount of Olives, he sent off two of his disciples,
Aakuhĩrĩria Bethifage na Bethania, o kũu Kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Mĩtamaiyũ, agĩtũma arutwo ake eerĩ, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
30 saying—Go your way unto the opposite village, in which, as ye are entering, ye shall find a colt, bound, whereon, no man, hath, ever sat, —and, having loosed him, bring him.
“Thiĩi itũũra rĩrĩa rĩrĩ mbere yanyu, na mũgĩtoonya, nĩmũkuona njaũ ya ndigiri yohetwo hau, nayo ndĩrĩ yakuua mũndũ; mĩohorei mũmĩrehe.
31 And, if any one question you—Wherefore are ye loosing him? thus, shall ye say—His Lord, hath, need.
Mũndũ angĩmũũria atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma mũmĩohore?’ Mwĩrei atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathani nĩabatarĩtio nĩyo.’”
32 And they who were sent, departing, found as he had said to them.
Nao acio maatũmirwo magĩthiĩ, magĩkora maũndũ matariĩ o ta ũrĩa Jesũ aamerĩte.
33 And, as they were loosing the colt, his lords said unto them—Why are ye loosing the colt?
Na rĩrĩa moohoraga njaũ ĩyo, eene yo makĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũroohora njaũ ĩyo nĩkĩ?”
34 And, they, said—His Lord, hath, need.
Nao magĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Mwathani nĩabatarĩtio nĩyo.”
35 And they brought him unto Jesus; and, throwing their mantles over the colt, they seated Jesus thereon.
Makĩmĩtwarĩra Jesũ, magĩcooka makĩigĩrĩra nguo ciao igũrũ rĩa njaũ ĩyo, na magĩikarĩria Jesũ igũrũ rĩayo.
36 And, as he moved along, they were spreading their own mantles in the way.
Na rĩrĩa aathiiaga, andũ makĩara nguo ciao njĩra-inĩ.
37 And, when he was drawing near, already, unto the descent of the Mount of Olives, one-and-all the throng of the disciples began joyfully to be praising God with a loud voice, concerning all the mighty works which they had seen;
Rĩrĩa aakinyire hakuhĩ na njĩra ĩrĩa ĩikũrũkagĩra Kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Mĩtamaiyũ, gĩkundi gĩothe kĩa arutwo gĩkĩambĩrĩria kũgooca Ngai, andũ makĩanĩrĩra makenete nĩ ũndũ wa ciama iria ciothe moonete makiuga atĩrĩ:
38 saying—Blessed is he that cometh… The king! In the name of the Lord! In heaven, peace! And glory in the highest!
“Kũrathimwo-rĩ, nĩ mũthamaki ũrĩa ũgũũka na rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani!” “Thayũ ũrogĩa kũu igũrũ, naguo riiri ũgĩe kũu igũrũ mũno!”
39 And, certain of the Pharisees from the multitude, said unto him—Teacher! rebuke thy disciples.
Afarisai amwe maarĩ gĩkundi-inĩ kĩu makĩĩra Jesũ atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, kaania arutwo aku!”
40 And he answered and said—I tell you—If, these, shall hold their peace, the stones, will cry out.
Nowe akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, aya maangĩkira, mahiga no maanĩrĩre.”
41 And, when he drew near, beholding the city, he wept over it, saying—
Na rĩrĩa aakuhĩrĩirie itũũra rĩu inene rĩa Jerusalemu, aarĩona akĩrĩra nĩ ũndũ warĩo,
42 If thou hadst got to know, in this day, even thou, the conditions of peace… But, now, are they hid from thine eyes:
akiuga atĩrĩ, “Naarĩ korwo ũmũthĩ wee mwene nĩũkũmenyete kĩrĩa kĩngĩkũrehere thayũ! No rĩu, ũhoro ũcio nĩũhithĩtwo maitho maku.
43 Because days will have come upon thee, that thine enemies will throw around a rampart against thee, and enclose thee; and hem thee in from every side, —
Hĩndĩ nĩĩgakinya rĩrĩa thũ ciaku igaaka ihumbu cia tĩĩri ikũrigiicĩrie, na ikũhingĩrĩrie na mĩena yothe.
44 And will level thee with the ground, and thy children within thee, and will not leave, stone on stone, within thee: because thou didst not get to know the season of thy visitation.
Nĩigagũtungumania thĩ, wee hamwe na ciana ciaku iria irĩ kũu thĩinĩ waku. Matigatiga ihiga o na rĩmwe rĩrĩ igũrũ wa rĩrĩa rĩngĩ, tondũ ndũigana gũkũũrana ihinda rĩrĩa Ngai ookire gũgũceerera.”
45 And, entering into the temple, he began to be casting out them who were selling;
Agĩcooka agĩtoonya hekarũ thĩinĩ, na akĩambĩrĩria kũrutũrũra andũ arĩa meendagĩria indo kuo.
46 saying unto them—It is written, And, my house, shall be, a house of prayer; but, ye, have made, it, a den of robbers.
Akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ, ‘Nyũmba yakwa ĩgeetagwo nyũmba ya kũhooyagĩrwo’ no inyuĩ mũmĩtuĩte ‘ngurunga ya atunyani.’”
47 And he was teaching day by day in the temple; but, the High-priests and the Scribes, also the chiefs of the people, were seeking to destroy him, —
Na o mũthenya, nĩarutanaga kũu thĩinĩ wa hekarũ. No athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene, na arutani a watho, na atongoria arĩa maarĩ gatagatĩ ka andũ nĩmageragia kũmũũraga.
48 and could not find what they might do, for, the people, one and all, were hanging upon him, as they hearkened.
No matingĩonire njĩra ya kũmũũraga, tondũ andũ othe nĩmaikaraga mathikĩrĩirie ciugo ciake.
