Luke 18
1 And he was speaking a parable unto them, as to its being needful for them always to pray, and not be faint-hearted;
Jesus les contó este relato para animarlos a orar en todo momento y no rendirse:
2 saying—A certain judge, there was in a certain city, —having, for God, no reverence, and, for man, no respect.
“Había un juez en cierta ciudad que no tenía respeto por Dios ni se interesaba por nadie”, explicó Jesús.
3 And, a widow, there was, in that city; and she kept coming unto him, saying—Vindicate me from mine adversary!
“En esa misma ciudad vivía una viuda que iba una y otra vez ante el juez y le decía; ‘¡Haz justicia en mi caso contra mi enemigo!’
4 And he was unwilling for a time; but, after these things, he said within himself—Although, neither God, I reverence, nor man, I respect,
Por cierto tiempo él no quiso hacer nada al respecto, pero finalmente pensó para sí: ‘Aunque yo no temo a Dios ni me preocupo por nadie,
5 Yet, if only because this widow annoyeth me, I will vindicate her, —lest, persistently coming, she wholly wear me out.
esta mujer es tan fastidiosa que me encargaré de que se haga justicia con ella. Así no me molestará más viniendo a verme tan seguido’.
6 And the Lord said—Hear ye what, the unrighteous judge saith; —
“Escuchen lo que hasta un juez injusto decidió”, dijo el Señor.
7 And shall, God, in any wise not execute the vindication of his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, although he beareth long with regard to them?
“¿No creen que Dios se encargará de que se haga justicia con su pueblo, que clama a Él de día y de noche? ¿Creen que Dios los hará esperar?
8 I tell you—He will execute their vindication, quickly! nevertheless, though, the Son of Man, do come, will he, after all, find the faith on the earth?
No. Les aseguro que Él les hará justicia con prontitud. Sin embargo, cuando el Hijo del hombre venga, ¿encontrará personas en la tierra que tengan fe en él?”
9 And he spake, even unto certain who were confident in themselves that they were righteous, and were despising the rest, this parable: —
También les contó este relato referente a aquellos que están seguros de que viven correctamente y menosprecian a todos los demás:
10 Two men, went up into the temple to pray, one, a Pharisee, and, the other, a tax-collector.
“Había dos hombres orando en el Templo. Uno de ellos era un Fariseo, y el otro era un recaudador de impuestos.
11 The Pharisee, taking his stand, these things unto himself was praying: O God! I thank thee, that I am not like the rest of men, —extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or, even as this tax-collector;
El Fariseo estaba en pie y oraba, diciendo: ‘Dios, te agradezco porque no soy como otras personas, como los ladrones o criminales, adúlteros, o incluso como este recaudador de impuestos.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give a tenth of whatsoever things I gain!
Yo ayuno dos veces a la semana, y pago el diezmo de mi salario’.
13 But, the tax-collector, afar off, standing, —would not so much as lift up, his eyes, unto heaven, but kept smiting his own breast saying—O God! be propitiated unto me, the sinner!
“Pero el recaudador de impuestos se quedó a la distancia. Ni siquiera era capaz de mirar al cielo. En lugar de ello golpeaba su pecho y oraba: ‘Dios, por favor, ten misericordia de mí. Soy un pecador’.
14 I tell you—This one went down justified, unto his house, rather than that one; because, every one who exalteth himself, shall be abased, but, he that abaseth himself, shall be exalted?
“Les aseguro, que este hombre se fue a su casa justificado ante los ojos de Dios y no el otro. Porque los que se exaltan serán humillados, pero los que se humillan serán exaltados”.
15 And they were bringing unto him, even the babes, that he might touch, them; but the disciples, seeing it, began to rebuke them.
Y algunos padres trajeron a sus hijos donde Jesús para que los tocara y los bendijera. Cuando los discípulos vieron lo que sucedía, trataron de detenerlos.
16 But, Jesus, called them near, saying—Suffer, the children, to be coming unto me, and do not hinder them; for, of such, is the kingdom of God.
Pero Jesús llamó a los niños hacia él. “Dejen que los niños vengan a mí”, dijo. “No se lo impidan, porque el reino de Dios le pertenece a los que son como ellos.
17 Verily I say unto you—Whosoever shall not welcome the kingdom of God, as a child, in nowise shall enter thereinto.
Les digo la verdad: quien no recibe el reino de Dios como lo hace un niño, nunca entrará a él”.
18 And a certain, ruler, questioned him, saying—Good Teacher! by doing what, shall I inherit life age-abiding? (aiōnios g166)
Uno de los líderes religiosos se acercó a Jesús y le preguntó: “Maestro bueno, ¿qué debo hacer para heredar la vida eterna?” (aiōnios g166)
19 But Jesus said to him—Why, callest thou me, good? None, is good, save one—God.
“¿Por qué me llamas bueno?” respondió Jesús. “Nadie es bueno, solo Dios.
20 The commandments, thou knowest: —Do not commit adultery, Do not commit murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, —Honour thy father and mother,
Ya conoces los mandamientos: no cometas adulterio, no mates, no robes, no des falso testimonio, honra a tu padre y a tu madre”.
21 And, he, said—All these things, have I kept from my youth.
“He guardado todos estos mandamientos desde que era joven”, respondió el hombre.
22 And Jesus, hearing, said unto him—Yet one thing, unto thee, is lacking: Whatsoever thou hast, sell, and distribute unto the destitute, —and thou shalt have treasure in [the] heavens; and come! be following me.
Cuando Jesús oyó esto, le dijo al hombre: “Aún te falta una cosa. Ve y vende todo lo que tienes, dale el dinero a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo. ¡Entonces ven y sígueme!”
23 But, he, hearing these things, became, encompassed with grief; for he was rich exceedingly.
Pero cuando el hombre oyó esto se puso muy triste, porque era muy rico.
24 And Jesus, beholding him, said—With what difficulty, shall, they who have money, enter, into the kingdom of God.
Cuando vio su reacción, Jesús dijo: “¡Cuán difícil es para los ricos entrar al reino de Dios!
25 For it is, easier, for a camel, to enter, through the eye of a needle, than for, a rich man, to enter, into the kingdom of God.
Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el reino de Dios”.
26 And they who heard said—Who, then, can be saved?
Los que oyeron esto se preguntaron: “¿Entonces quién podrá salvarse?”
27 And, he, said—The things impossible with men, are, possible with God.
Jesús respondió: “Lo que es imposible en términos humanos es posible para Dios”.
28 And Peter said—Lo! we, have left our own possessions, and followed thee!
Pedro dijo: “¡Nosotros lo dejamos todo para seguirte!”
29 And, he, said unto them—Verily, I say unto you—No one, is there, who hath left—house, or wife, or brethren, or parents, or children, —for the sake of the kingdom of God;
“Les digo la verdad”, les dijo Jesús, “cualquiera que deja atrás su casa, su esposa, hermanos, o hijos por causa del reino de Dios,
31 And, taking aside the twelve, he said unto them—Lo! we are going up unto Jerusalem, and all the things will be finished, which have been written through means of the prophets, respecting the Son of Man;
Jesús llevó consigo a los doce discípulos aparte, y les dijo: “Vamos hacia Jerusalén, y todo lo que los profetas escribieron sobre el Hijo del hombre, se cumplirá.
32 For he will be delivered up unto the nations, and be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon, —
Él será entregado en manos de los extranjeros; se burlarán de él, lo insultarán y lo escupirán.
33 and, having scourged him, they will slay him, and, on the third day, will, he, arise.
Ellos lo azotarán y lo matarán, pero el tercer día, él se levantará otra vez”.
34 And, they, not one of these things, understood, and this saying was hidden from them, and the could not comprehend the things spoken.
Pero ellos no entendieron nada de lo que Jesús les dijo. El significado de esas cosas estaba oculto para ellos y ellos no entendieron lo que él estaba diciendo.
35 And it came to pass, as he was drawing near unto Jericho, a certain blind man, was sitting beside the road, begging.
Cuando Jesús se acercaba a Jericó, estaba un hombre ciego sentado y pidiendo limosna junto al camino.
36 And. hearkening unto a multitude moving along, he enquired, what this, might be.
Este hombre escuchó la multitud que pasaba, así que preguntó qué estaba pasando.
37 And they told him—Jesus of Nazareth, is passing by!
Y ellos le dijeron: “Está pasando Jesús de Nazaret”.
38 And he cried aloud, saying—Jesus, son of David! have mercy upon me!
Entonces él gritó: “¡Jesús, hijo de David, por favor, ten misericordia de mí!”
39 And, they that were going before, began to rebuke him, that he might hold his peace. But, he, by so much the more, was crying out—O Son of David! have mercy upon me!
Y los que estaban frente a la multitud le dijeron que dejara de gritar y se callara, pero lo que hizo el hombre fue gritar más fuerte: “¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí, por favor!”
40 And, standing still, Jesus commanded him to be led unto him; and, when he had drawn near, he questioned him—
Jesús se detuvo y les dijo que trajeran al hombre ciego. Cuando vino, Jesús le preguntó:
41 What desirest thou, I should do unto thee? And, he, said—Lord! …that I may recover sight!
“¿Qué quieres que yo haga por ti?” “Señor, por favor, quiero ver”, le suplicó.
42 And, Jesus, said unto him—Recover sight! Thy faith, hath saved thee.
“¡Entonces recibe la vista!” le dijo Jesús. “Tu fe en mí te ha sanado”.
43 And, instantly, he recovered sight, and began to follow him, glorifying God. And, all the people, beholding, gave praise unto God.
De inmediato el hombre pudo ver. Y seguía a Jesús, alabando a Dios. Todos los que estaban allí y vieron lo que había sucedido también alabaron a Dios.
