Luke 11
1 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain place praying, as he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him—Lord! teach us to pray, as, John also, taught his disciples.
Un día, Jesús estaba orando en cierto lugar. Y cuando terminó de orar, uno de sus discípulos le pidió: “Señor, por favor enséñanos a orar, así como Juan enseñó a sus discípulos”.
2 And he said unto them—Whensoever ye are praying, say—Father! Hallowed be thy name, Come may thy kingdom,
Jesús les dijo: “Cuando oren, digan: ‘Padre, que tu nombre sea santificado. Que tu reino venga.
3 Our needful bread, be giving us, day by day;
Danos cada día el alimento que necesitamos.
4 And forgive us our sins, for, even we ourselves, forgive every one indebted to us; And bring us not into temptation.
Perdónanos nuestros pecados, así como nosotros perdonamos a todos los que pecan contra nosotros. Guárdanos de la tentación’”.
5 And he said unto them—Who from among you, shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him—Friend! supply me with three loaves,
Luego Jesús siguió diciéndoles: “Supongan que tienen un amigo, y ustedes van a su casa en medio de la noche y le dicen: ‘Amigo, préstame tres panes
6 forasmuch as, a friend of mine, hath come off a journey unto me, and I have not what I can set before him;
porque ha venido un amigo a visitarme y no tengo alimento para brindarle’.
7 and, he, from within, shall answer, and say—Be not disturbing me, —already, the door hath been fastened, and, my children, with me, are, in bed: I cannot rise and give thee?
Entonces ese amigo responde desde el fondo de la casa, diciendo: ‘No me molestes, ya cerré la puerta con llave y mis hijos y yo ya nos acostamos a dormir. Ahora no puedo levantarme a darte nada’.
8 I say unto you—Even though he will not give him, rising because of his being a friend of his, because, at least, of his importunity, he will rouse himself, and give him as many as he needeth.
Les aseguro que aunque ese amigo se niegue a levantarse y darles algo, a pesar de ser su amigo, si ustedes insisten, su amigo se levantará y les dará lo que necesitan.
9 I, therefore, unto you, say—Be asking, and it shall be given to you, Be seeking, and ye shall find, —Be knocking, and it shall be opened unto you.
“Les digo entonces: pidan, y recibirán; busquen, y encontrarán; toquen puertas, y las puertas se abrirán para ustedes.
10 For, whosoever asketh, receiveth, and, he that seeketh, findeth, —and, to him that knocketh, shall it be opened.
Porque todo el que pide, recibe; todo el que busca, encuentra; y a todo el que toca la puerta, se le abre.
11 But which is the father, from among yourselves, whom the son will ask for, a fish, who, instead of a fish, will give him, a serpent?
¿Quién de ustedes, siendo padre, si su hijo le pide un pescado, le dará una serpiente en lugar de ello?
12 Or shall also ask, an egg, who will give him, a scorpion?
¿O si le pide un huevo, le dará un escorpión?
13 If therefore, ye, being, evil, know how to be giving, good gifts, unto your children, how much rather, will, the heavenly Father, give Holy Spirit unto them that ask him!
De modo que si ustedes, siendo malos, aun así saben darles cosas buenas a sus hijos, ¿cuánto más el Padre celestial le dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes se lo pidan?”
14 And he was casting out a demon that was dumb; and it came to pass, when the demon went out, the dumb began speaking. And the multitudes marvelled;
Sucedió que Jesús estaba expulsando un demonio que había vuelto mudo a un hombre. Cuando el demonio salió, el hombre que había estado mudo pudo hablar, y la multitud estaba asombrada.
15 but, some from among them, said—In Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons, is he casting out the demons;
Pero algunos de ellos dijeron: “Él está expulsando demonios usando el poder de Belcebú, el príncipe de los demonios”.
16 and, others, putting him to the test, a sign out of heaven, were seeking from him.
Otros estaban tratando de probar a Jesús pidiéndole una señal milagrosa del cielo.
17 But, he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them—Every kingdom, against itself divided, is laid waste, and, a house, against a house, [divided], falleth;
Pero Jesús sabía lo que ellos pensaban y dijo: “Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo, será destruido. Una familia dividida contra sí misma, caerá.
18 And, if, even Satan, against himself hath become divided, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye are saying that, in Beelzebul, am I casting out the demons.
Si Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo podría permanecer su reino? Ustedes dicen que yo expulso demonios por el poder de Belcebú.
19 But, if, I, in Beelzebul, am casting out the demons, In whom are, your sons, casting them out? Wherefore, they, shall be, your judges.
Pero si es así, ¿con qué poder los expulsan los hijos de ustedes? ¡Ellos mismos los condenarán por estar equivocados!
20 But, if, with the finger of God, I, am casting out the demons, then doubtless unawares hath come upon you, the kingdom of God.
“Sin embargo, si yo expulso demonios por el poder de Dios, entonces eso prueba que el reino de Dios ha venido. ¡Está justo aquí entre ustedes!
21 Whensoever, the mighty one, armed, may be guarding his own dwelling, in peace, are his goods;
Cuando un hombre fuerte está armado y cuida su casa, todo lo que posee está seguro.
22 But, whensoever, a mightier than he, shall come upon and vanquish him, his panoply, he taketh away, wherein he was trusting, and, his spoils, he distributeth.
Pero si viene un hombre más fuerte y lo vence, quitándole todas sus armas, de las cuales dependía, entonces este puede llevarse todas sus posesiones.
23 He that is not with me, is, against me; and, he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
Todo el que no está conmigo, está contra mí, y todo el que no está edificando conmigo, está derribándolo todo.
24 Whensoever, the impure spirit, goeth out from the man, it passeth through waterless places, seeking rest; and, not finding it, [then, ] it saith, I will return unto my house, whence I came out; —
“Cuando un espíritu maligno sale de alguien, anda por el desierto buscando un lugar donde quedarse. Pero cuando no encuentra lugar, dice: ‘Regresaré a la casa de donde salí’.
25 and, coming, findeth it, [empty, ] swept, and adorned.
Y cuando regresa, la encuentra barrida y arreglada.
26 Then, goeth it, and taketh along with itself, other spirits, more wicked than itself—seven, and, entering in, fixeth its dwelling there; and, the last state of that man, becometh, worse than the first.
Entonces va y busca a otros siete espíritus peores que él, y ellos vienen a vivir allí. Y al final ese hombre llega a ser peor que como era antes”.
27 Now it came to pass, while he was saying these things, that a certain woman out of the multitude, lifting up her voice, said unto him—Happy the womb that bare thee! And the breasts which thou didst suck!
Mientras hablaba, una mujer entre la multitud gritó: “Bendito el vientre del cual naciste y los pechos que te alimentaron”.
28 But, he, said—Yea rather!—Happy they who hear the word of God, and observe it!
Pero Jesús dijo: “Más benditos aún son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y siguen sus enseñanzas”.
29 And, as the multitudes were thronging together, he began to be saying—This generation, is, a wicked generation: A sign, it is seeking, and, a sign, shall not be given it, save the sign of Jonah.
A medida que la gente se amontonaba a su alrededor, Jesús comenzó a decir: “Esta es una generación maligna, pues están buscando una señal milagrosa, pero no se les dará ninguna señal, sino la señal de Jonás.
30 For, according as, Jonah, became, unto the Ninevites, a sign, so, shall be, the Son of Man also, unto this generation.
Del mismo modo que Jonás fue una señal para el pueblo de Nínive, así el Hijo del hombre será una señal para esta generación.
31 The queen of the south, will rise up, in the judgment, with the men of this generation, and will condemn them; because she came out of the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, —and lo! something more than Solomon, here.
La reina del sur se levantará en el juicio junto con la gente de su generación y los condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón, ¡Y ahora está aquí uno que es más importante que Salomón!
32 Men of Nineveh, will rise up, in the judgment, with this generation, and will condemn it; because they repented into the proclamation of Jonah, —and lo! something more than Jonah, here.
El pueblo de Nínive se levantará en el juicio junto con su generación, y condenarán a esta generación, porque ellos se arrepintieron cuando oyeron el mensaje de Jonás, ¡Y ahora está aquí uno que es más importante que Jonás!
33 No one, having lighted, a lamp, into a covered place, a putteth it, nor, under the measure; but upon the lampstand, that they who enter may see, the light.
Nadie enciende una lámpara y luego la esconde bajo un tazón. No, la lámpara se coloca en un lugar alto para que todos los que entran a la casa pueda ver la luz.
34 The lamp of thy body, is thine eye: Whensoever, thine eye, may be, single, even the whole of thy body, is, lighted up; but, whensoever it may be, useless, even thy body, is darkened.
El ojo es la lámpara del cuerpo. Cuando tu ojo es bueno, todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz. Pero cuando tu ojo es malo, tu cuerpo está en la oscuridad.
35 Be looking to it, therefore, lest, the light that is in thee, be, darkness.
Entonces asegúrate de que la luz que crees tener en ti, no sea realmente oscuridad.
36 If, therefore, thy whole body, is lighted up, not having any part darkened, the whole, shall be lighted up, as whensoever, the lamp, with its radiance, may be giving thee light.
Si todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz, sin áreas oscuras, entonces está completamente iluminado, como si una lámpara te iluminara con su luz”.
37 And, when he had spoken, a Pharisee was requesting him that he would dine with him; and, entering, he reclined.
Después de que Jesús terminó de hablar, un Fariseo lo invitó para que fuera a comer con él. Entonces Jesús fue y se sentó a comer.
38 And, the Pharisee, beholding, marvelled that he was not, first, immersed, before the dinner.
El Fariseo estaba sorprendido porque Jesús no se lavó las manos antes de comer, como se requería ceremonialmente.
39 And the Lord said unto him: Now, ye, the Pharisees, the outside of the cup and of the tray, do make pure; but, your inward part, is full of plunder and wickedness.
Entonces el Señor le dijo: “Ustedes los fariseos limpian la parte externa de la taza y del plato, pero por dentro están llenos de avaricia y maldad.
40 Simple ones! Did not, he who made the outside, the inside also, make?
¡Son tan necios ustedes! ¿No piensan que Aquél que hizo la parte externa también hizo la parte interna?
41 Notwithstanding, as to the things within, give alms, and lo! everything, is, pure unto you.
Si, actuando desde su interior, realizan actos de bondad hacia otros, entonces todo estará limpio en ustedes.
42 But alas for you, the Pharisees! because ye tithe the mint, and the rue, and every garden herb, and pass by justice, and the love of God. But, these things, it was binding to do, and, those, not to pass by.
¡Qué lástima por ustedes, fariseos! Porque ustedes diezman las hierbas y las plantas, pero descuidan la justicia y el amor de Dios. A esto último ustedes deben prestar atención, sin dejar de hacer lo primero.
43 Alas for you, the Pharisees! because ye love the first seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the market-places!
¡Qué lástima me dan ustedes, fariseos! Porque a ustedes les encanta tener los mejores asientos en las sinagogas, y ser saludados con respeto cuando van a las plazas del mercado.
44 Alas for you! because ye are as the secret tombs: even the men that are walking above them, know it not.
¡Qué lástima por ustedes! Son como tumbas sin marcar, sobre las cuales camina la gente sin saberlo”.
45 And, making answer, one of the Lawyers saith unto him, Teacher! these things, saying, us also, dost thou insult!
Uno de los expertos en leyes religiosas reaccionó, diciendo: “¡Maestro, cuando hablas así, también nos insultas a nosotros!”
46 And, he, said—And, for you, the lawyers, alas! because ye lade men with burdens hard to be borne, and, yourselves, with one of your fingers, touch not the burdens.
Entonces Jesús respondió: “¡Qué lástima me dan ustedes, intérpretes de la ley! Porque ustedes ponen sobre la gente cargas difíciles de soportar, pero ustedes no mueven ni un dedo por ayudarlos.
47 Alas for you! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers slew them!
¡Qué lástima me dan ustedes! ¡Ustedes construyen tumbas en honor a los profetas, pero fueron sus propios padres quienes los mataron!
48 Hence, witnesses, are ye, and find consenting pleasure in the works of your fathers: because, they, indeed, slew them, and, ye, are building, [their tombs].
Al hacer esto, ustedes son testigos que muestran estar de acuerdo con lo que sus padres hicieron. ¡Ellos mataron a los profetas, y ustedes construyeron sus tumbas!
49 For this cause, the Wisdom of God hath said—I will send forth, unto them, prophets and apostles, —and, some from among them, will they slay, and, [some] persecute:
“Por eso es que Dios en su sabiduría dijo: ‘Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles; a algunos los matarán, y a otros los perseguirán’.
50 That the blood of all the prophets which hath been shed from the foundation of the world, may be sought out, from this generation, —
Por lo tanto, esta generación será responsable de la sangre derramada por todos los profetas, desde la creación del mundo,
51 From the blood of Abel, unto the blood of Zachariah who was destroyed betwixt the altar and the house; Yea! I say unto you—It shall be sought out from this generation.
desde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, quien fue asesinado entre el altar y el santuario. Sí, yo les aseguro que esta generación será responsable de ello.
52 Alas for you, the lawyers! because ye took away the key of knowledge: yourselves, entered not, and, them who were entering, ye hindered.
¡Qué lástima me dan ustedes! Pues le han quitado a la gente la llave de las puertas del conocimiento. Ni ustedes entraron, ni permitieron que otros entraran”.
53 And, when, from thence, he came out, the Scribes and the Pharisees began, with vehemence, to be hemming him in, and trying to make him speak off-hand concerning many things, —
Cuando Jesús se iba, los maestros religiosos y los fariseos comenzaron a atacarlo duramente, haciéndole preguntas para provocarlo.
54 lying in wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.
Ellos esperaban atraparlo, tratando de que él dijera algo que pudieran usar contra él.
