Leviticus 18
1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:
૧યહોવાહે મૂસાને કહ્યું,
2 Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say unto them, —I—Yahweh, am your God: —
૨“ઇઝરાયલના લોકોને કહે કે, ‘હું યહોવાહ તમારો ઈશ્વર છું.
3 After the doings of the land of Egypt wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do, —And after the doings of the land of Canaan whither, I, am bringing you in, shall ye not do, And, in their statutes, shall ye not walk:
૩મિસર દેશ જેમાં તમે અગાઉ રહેતા હતા, તે લોકોનું અનુકરણ તમે ન કરો. અને કનાન દેશ કે જેમાં હું તમને લઈ જાઉં છું, તે દેશના લોકોનું અનુકરણ તમે ન કરો. તેઓના રીતરિવાજો ન પાળો.
4 My regulations, shall ye do, And, my statutes, shall ye observe to walk therein, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
૪તમારે ફક્ત મારા જ વિધિઓ પાળવા, તમારે તેનો સંપૂર્ણ રીતે અમલ કરવો અને તે અનુસાર ચાલવું કેમ કે હું યહોવાહ તમારો ઈશ્વર છું.
5 Therefore shall ye observe my statutes, and my regulations, Which if the son of earth shall do them, Then shall he live in them, —I, am Yahweh.
૫માટે તમારે મારા વિધિઓ અને નિયમો પાળવા. જો કોઈ માણસ તેનું પાલન કરશે તો તે વડે તે જીવશે. હું યહોવાહ છું.
6 No person whatsoever, unto any of the near kin of his own flesh, shall approach to uncover the parts of shame, —I, am Yahweh.
૬તમારામાંના કોઈએ પણ નજીકની સગી સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો. હું યહોવાહ છું.
7 The shame of thy father, even the shame of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover, —thy mother, she is, thou shalt not uncover her shame.
૭તારી માતા સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ કરીને તારા પિતાનું અપમાન ન કર. તે તારી માતા છે, તેને તારે કલંકિત કરવી નહિ.
8 The shame of thy father’s wife, shalt thou not uncover, —thy father’s shame, it is.
૮તારા પિતાની પત્નીઓમાંથી કોઈની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કર; તે તારા પિતાના અપમાન જેવું છે.
9 The shame of thy sister daughter of thy father or daughter of thy mother, born at home or born abroad, thou shalt not uncover their shame.
૯તારી બહેનોમાંની કોઈની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કર. તે તમારા પિતાની પુત્રી હોય કે માતાની પુત્રી હોય; પછી તે ઘરમાં જન્મેલી હોય કે તારાથી દૂર બહાર જન્મેલી હોય. તારે તારી બહેન સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ બાંધવો નહિ.
10 The shame of the daughter of thy son or the daughter of thy daughter, thou shalt not uncover their shame, —for, thine own shame, they are.
૧૦તારે તારા પુત્રની પુત્રી કે પુત્રીની પુત્રી સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો, તે તમારી પોતાની જાતને કલંકિત કરવા બરાબર છે.
11 The shame of the daughter of thy father’s wife, born to thy father, she being, thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her shame.
૧૧તારે તારા પિતાની પત્નીની પુત્રી સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો. તે તારી બહેન છે અને તારે તેની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો.
12 The shame of thy father’s sister, shalt thou not uncover, —thy father’s near of kin, she is.
૧૨તારે તારા પિતાની બહેન સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો, કેમ કે તારા પિતાની તે નજીકની સગી છે.
13 The shame of thy mother’s sister, shalt thou not uncover, —for, thy mother’s near of kin, she is.
૧૩તારે તારી માતાની બહેન સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો, કેમ કે તારી માતાની તે નજીકની સગી છે.
14 The shame of thy father’s brother, shalt thou not uncover unto his wife, shalt thou not approach, thine aunt, she is.
૧૪તારે તારા પિતાના ભાઈની પત્ની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો. કે એવા ઇરાદા સાથે તેની નજીક ન જવું. કેમ કે તે તારી કાકી છે.
15 The shame of thy daughter-in-law, shalt thou not uncover, —thy son’s wife, she is, thou shalt not uncover her shame.
૧૫તારે તારી પુત્રવધૂ સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો, તે તારા પુત્રની પત્ની છે. તેની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધ.
16 The shame of thy brother’s wife, shalt thou not uncover, —the shame of thy brother, it is.
૧૬તારે તારા ભાઈની પત્ની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધવો, આવું કરીને તારા ભાઈનું અપમાન ન કરવું.
17 The shame of a woman, and of her daughter, shalt thou not uncover, —neither the daughter of her son nor the daughter of her daughter, shalt thou take, to uncover her shame, near of kin, they are, wickedness, it is.
૧૭કોઈ સ્ત્રી તેમ જ તેની પુત્રી કે પૌત્રી કે દોહિત્રી સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કર. તેઓ નજીકની સગી છે અને તેઓની સાથે એવું કરવું એ અતિશય દુષ્ટ કર્મ છે.
18 And, a woman unto her sister, shalt thou not take, —to cause rivalry, by uncovering her shame besides her own while she is living.
૧૮તારી પત્નીના જીવતા સુધી તેની બહેન સાથે લગ્ન કરીને અને તેને બીજી પત્ની કરીને તેની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધ.
19 And unto a woman during her removal for uncleanness, shalt thou not approach, to uncover her shame.
૧૯સ્ત્રીના માસિકસ્રાવ દરમિયાન તેની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધ. કેમ કે એ સમયમાં તે અશુદ્ધ છે.
20 And of the wife of thy neighbour, shalt thou not have carnal knowledge, —to commit uncleanness with her.
૨૦તારે તારા પડોશીની પત્ની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કરવો અને આ રીતે પોતાને જાતને ભ્રષ્ટ ન કરવી.
21 And none of thy seed, shalt thou deliver up, to cause to pass through to Molech, —that thou profane not the name of thy God, I, am Yahweh.
૨૧તારે તારા કોઈ બાળકને અગ્નિમાં ચલાવીને મોલેખને ચઢાવવા ન આપ. આ રીતે તારા ઈશ્વરનો અનાદર ન કરવો. હું યહોવાહ છું.
22 And, with mankind, shalt thou not lie as with womankind, —an abomination, it is.
૨૨સ્ત્રીની જેમ બીજા પુરુષની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન બાંધ. એ દુષ્ટતા છે.
23 And of no beast, shalt thou have carnal knowledge to commit uncleanness therewith, —neither shall a woman present herself to a beast to couch down thereto, —confusion, it is.
૨૩તમારે કોઈ પશુ સાથે સ્ત્રીની જેમ શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કરીને પોતાને અશુદ્ધ ન કરવો. કોઈ સ્ત્રીએ કોઈ પશુ સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ ન કરવો, એ વિકૃતિ છે.
24 Do not make yourselves unclean in any of these things, —For in all these things, have the nations made themselves unclean, whom, I, am sending out from before you.
૨૪આમાંની કોઈ પણ રીતે તારે તારી જાતને અશુદ્ધ ન કરવી. હું જે દેશજાતિઓને તમારી સામેથી હાંકી કાઢવાનો છું તેઓ આવી રીતે અશુદ્ધ થયેલ છે.
25 Therefore hath the land become unclean, and I have visited the iniquity thereof upon it, —and the land hath vomited her inhabitants.
૨૫એ આખો દેશ અશુદ્ધ થયો છે. તેથી હું તેઓના પર તેઓના પાપની સજા કરું છું અને એ દેશ ત્યાંના રહેવાસીઓને ઓકી કાઢે છે.
26 Ye, therefore, shall observe my statutes and my regulations, and have nothing to do with any of these abominations, —whether the home-born, or the sojourner that sojourneth in your midst;
૨૬તમારે મારા વિધિઓ અને આજ્ઞાઓનું પાલન કરવું. તમારે આ બધામાંનું કોઈ ઘૃણાજનક કાર્ય કરવું નહિ, પછી ભલે તમે ઇઝરાયલ પ્રજાનાં વતની હોય કે પરદેશથી આવીને વસ્યા હોય.
27 For all these abominations, have the men of the land done, who were before you; And so the land hath become unclean:
૨૭કેમ કે તમારા પહેલા જે દેશજાતિ આ દેશમાં રહેતી હતી, તે આ બધા ઘૃણાજનક કાર્યો કરતી હતી અને તેથી દેશ અશુદ્ધ થયો છે.
28 So shall the land not vomit you, through your making it unclean, —as it vomited the nation which was before you.
૨૮એ માટે સાવચેત રહો, કે જેથી દેશને અશુદ્ધ કર્યાથી જેમ તમારી અગાઉની દેશજાતિને તેણે ઓકી કાઢી તેમ તમને પણ તે ઓકી કાઢે.
29 For whosoever shall have anything to do with any of these abominations, the persons who have, shall be cut off, out of the midst of their people.
૨૯જે કોઈ એમાંનું કોઈપણ ઘૃણાજનક કાર્ય કરશે તેને પોતાના લોકોમાંથી અલગ કરવામાં આવશે.
30 Therefore shall ye keep my charge, So that ye may have nothing to do with any of the abominable statutes with which they have had to do before you, So shall ye not make yourselves unclean thereby, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
૩૦માટે તમે મારી આજ્ઞાઓનું પાલન કરો. તમારા અગાઉના લોકો ઘૃણાપાત્ર રિવાજો પાળતા હતા, તેનું પાલન કરીને તમારી જાતને અશુદ્ધ ન બનાવશો. હું તમારો ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ છું.’”
