Leviticus 11
1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying unto them:
Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, à Aaron, disant:
2 Speak ye unto the sons of Israel saying, —These are the living things which ye may eat, of all the beasts which are upon the earth:
Parlez aux fils d'Israël, dites-leur: Voici, parmi tous les animaux de la terre, ceux que vous mangerez:
3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof and is cloven-footed, and cheweth the cud among beasts, that, may ye eat.
Toute bête au pied fourchu dont le sabot se sépare, en deux cornes, et est en même temps bête ruminante.
4 Nevertheless, these, shall ye not eat, of them that chew the cud, and of them that part the hoof, —the camel, because though he, cheweth the cud, yet, the hoof, he parteth not, unclean, he is to you;
Mais voici les animaux dont vous ne mangerez pas, même s'ils ruminent ou s'ils ont le pied fourchu, et si leur sabot se sépare en deux cornes: le chameau, qui rumine, mais n'a pas le pied fourchu: il est impur pour vous;
5 And, the coney, because, though he cheweth the cud, yet, the hoof, he parteth not, —unclean, he is to you;
Le lièvre, qui ne rumine pas et n'a pas, le pied fourchu; il est impur pour vous;
6 And the hare, because though she cheweth the cud, yet the hoof, she parteth not, —unclean, she is to you;
Le porc-épic, qui ne rumine pas et n'a pas le pied fourchu: il est impur pour vous;
7 And, the swine, because though he parteth the hoof, and is cloven-footed, yet, the cud, he cheweth not, —unclean, he is to you;
Le pourceau, qui a le pied fourchu et la corne fendue en ongles, mais qui ne rumine pas: il est impur pour vous.
8 Of their flesh, shall ye not eat, and, their carcase, shall ye not touch, —unclean, they are to you.
Vous ne mangerez pas des chairs de ces bêtes; vous ne toucherez pas à leurs corps morts; ils sont impurs pour vous.
9 these, may ye eat, of all that are in the waters, —all that have fins and scales in the waters, in the seas and in the rivers, them, may ye eat.
Voici ce que vous mangerez de tout ce qui est dans les eaux: tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles, dans les eaux, dans la mer et les torrents, vous en mangerez;
10 But, all that have not fins and scales, in the seas and in the rivers, of all that swarm in the waters, and of all the living souls that are in the waters, an abomination, they are unto you;
Et ce qui n'a ni nageoires ni écailles dans les eaux, dans la mer, dans les torrents, parmi tous les êtres que les eaux produisent, et parmi tout ce qui a vie dans les eaux, est impur, et vous le tiendrez pour abominable.
11 and an abomination, shall they remain to you, —of their flesh, ye shall not eat, and their carcases, shall ye abhor.
Vous ne mangerez point de leurs chairs, et leurs corps morts vous seront en abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath not fins and scales in the waters, an abomination, it is unto you.
Et tout ce qui dans les eaux n'a ni écailles, ni nageoires, est abomination pour vous.
13 And, these, shall ye abhor of birds, they shall not be eaten, an abomination, they are, —the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey;
Parmi les oiseaux voici ceux que vous tiendrez pour abominables et dont vous ne mangerez point: l'aigle, le griffon et l'aigle de mer.
14 and the vulture, and the falcon, after its kind;
Le vautour, le milan et ses analogues,
15 every raven, after its kind;
L'autruche, la chouette, la mouette et ses analogues,
16 and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, —and the hawk after its kind;
Tous les corbeaux et leurs analogues, l'épervier et ses analogues,
17 and the pelican and the gannet, and the bittern;
Le hibou, le plongeur, l'ibis,
18 and the swan and the vomiting pelican and the little vulture;
Le porphyrion, le pélican, le cygne,
19 and the stork, and the parrot, after its kind, —and the mountain-cock and the bat.
Le héron, le pluvier et ses analogues, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
20 Every creeping thing that flieth, that goeth on all-fours, an abomination, it is unto you.
Parmi les êtres ailés, tous ceux qui se traînent et marchent sur quatre pieds, vous seront en abomination.
21 Nevertheless, these, may ye eat, of all creeping things that fly, that go on all-fours, —such as have legs above their feet, to leap therewith, upon the earth—
Mais vous mangerez celles des bêtes ailées qui, se traînant et marchant sur quatre pieds, ont ceux de derrière plus longs que ceux de devant, et s'en aident pour bondir sur la terre.
22 these of them, may ye eat: the swarming-locust after its kind, and the devouring locust after its kind, —and the chargol-locust after its kind, and the chagab-locust after its kind.
Parmi les bêtes ailées, vous mangerez celles-ci: le bruchos et ses analogues, l'attacos et ses analogues, l'ophiomachos et ses analogues, la sauterelle et ses analogues.
23 But every [other] creeping thing that flieth, which hath four feet, an abomination, it is unto you;
Tout reptile quadrupède, parmi les bêtes ailées, est pour vous abomination.
24 and, for these, shall ye count yourselves unclean—whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the evening;
Par eux, vous serez souillés; quiconque aura touché leurs corps morts sera impur jusqu'au soir.
25 and whosoever beareth away aught of the carcase of them, shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.
Quiconque aura enlevé leurs corps morts lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu'au soir.
26 As for every kind of beast which, though it parteth the hoof, yet is not cloven-footed nor cheweth the cud, unclean, they are unto you, —every one who toucheth them shall be unclean.
Parmi les bestiaux, ceux qui ont le pied fourchu et le sabot séparé, et qui ne ruminent pas, seront impurs pour vous; quiconque aura touché leurs corps morts sera impur jusqu'au soir.
27 And, all that go upon their paws, among all the living things that go on all-fours, unclean, they are unto you, —whoso toucheth the carcase of them, shall be unclean until the evening.
Parmi les bêtes sauvages, celles qui marchent sur des mains et qui marchent sur quatre mains, seront impures pour vous; quiconque aura touché leurs corps morts sera impur jusqu'au soir.
28 And, he that beareth away the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until the evening, —unclean, they are unto you.
Celui qui aura enlevé leurs corps morts lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu'au soir; elles sont impures pour vous.
29 And, these, unto you, shall be unclean, among the creeping things that creep upon the earth, —the weasel and the mouse, and the lizard after its kind;
Parmi celles qui se traînent à terre, voici celles qui seront impures pour vous: la belette, le rat, le crocodile terrestre,
30 and the ferret and the chameleon and the wall-lizard, —and the winding lizard, and the mole.
La musaraigne, le caméléon, le chalabotis, le lézard et la taupe.
31 These, are they which are unclean to you among all that creep, —whosoever toucheth them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening;
Ces bêtes seront impures pour vous, parmi celles qui se traînent à terre; quiconque aura touché leurs corps morts, sera impur jusqu'au soir.
32 and, everything whereon any of them shall fall when they are dead shall be unclean—of any articles of wood, or cloth, or skin, or sackcloth, any article wherewith any work is done, —shall be put in water and shall be unclean until the evening, and then be clean,
Toute chose sur quoi l'une d'elles sera tombée morte, sera impure; que ce soit vase de bois, vêtement, cuir ou sac, ou tout autre meuble dont on se sert pour travailler; on le lavera dans l'eau, et il restera impur jusqu'au soir; alors il redeviendra pur.
33 And, as for any earthen vessel whereinto any of them may fall, everything therein shall be unclean, and, the vessel itself, shall ye break in pieces.
Tout vase de poterie dans l'intérieur duquel tombera l'une de ces bêtes, quoi qu'il contienne, sera impur; il sera brisé.
34 Of all the food that may be eaten, that whereon shall come water, shall be unclean, —and, all drink which might be drunk in any [such] vessel, shall be unclean.
Tout aliment dont on mange, tout breuvage bu en quelque vase que ce soit et dans lequel tombera de l'eau de ce vase, seront impurs.
35 And, everything whereon shall fall any part of the carcase of them shall be unclean, oven or fire-range, it shall be destroyed, unclean, they are, —and, unclean, Shall they remain to you.
Toute chose sur laquelle sera tombée l'une de ces bêtes mortes sera impure: si c'est un fourneau ou une marmite, on les purifiera; car ces bêtes sont impures, et elles seront impures pour vous.
36 Notwithstanding, a fountain or cistern wherein is a gathering of waters shall be clean, —but, he that toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean.
Toutefois les fontaines, les citernes, les nappes d'eau où elles seront tombées resteront pures; mais celui qui touchera leurs corps morts sera impur.
37 And when any part of the carcase of them shall fall upon seed for sowing, which is to be sown, the same is, clean.
S'il tombe quelque chose de leurs corps morts sur une graine, sur de la semence près d'être ensemencée, cette graine sera pure,
38 But, when water shall be put upon seed, and there shall fall thereon any part of the carcase of them, unclean, it is to you.
Mais si l'on répand sur n'importe quelle graine, de l'eau où soit tombé l'un de leurs corps morts, cette graine sera impure pour tous.
39 And, when any of the beasts which are yours for food shall die, he that toucheth the carcase of it shall be unclean until the evening.
S'il meurt quelqu'un des bestiaux dont vous pouvez manger, celui qui touchera à son cadavre sera impur jusqu'au soir.
40 And, he that eateth of the carcase of it, shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening, —he also that carrieth away the carcase thereof shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
Celui qui mangera de ces corps morts, lavera ses vêtements, il sera impur jusqu'au soir; celui qui enlèvera les corps morts lavera ses vêtements, se baignera lui-même, et sera impur jusqu'au soir.
41 And, any creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, an abomination, it is—it shall not be eaten.
Tout reptile qui rampe sur la terre sera pour vous abominable; on n'en mangera point.
42 Everything that goeth upon the belly, and everything that goeth upon all-fours, even to everything having many feet, as regardeth any creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, ye shall not eat them for, an abomination, they are.
Parmi les êtres rampants et se traînant à terre, tout ce qui marche sur son ventre, et tout ce qui marche toujours à quatre pattes, et tout ce qui a beaucoup de pieds est abominable pour vous; n'en mangez pas.
43 Do not make your persons abominable, with any creeping thing that creepeth, —neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should become unclean thereby.
Gardez-vous de rendre abominables vos âmes en usant des reptiles qui se traînent à terre, de vous souiller et de vous rendre impurs à cause d'eux.
44 For, I—Yahweh, am your God, therefore shall ye hallow yourselves and remain holy; for, holy, am, I,—therefore shall ye not make your persons unclean, with any creeping thing that crawleth upon the earth;
Car je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu, et vous serez sanctifiés, vous serez saints parce que je suis saint, moi, le Seigneur votre Dieu; et vous ne souillerez pas vos âmes en usant des reptiles qui se meuvent sur la terre.
45 for, I—Yahweh, am he that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, that I might become your God, —therefore shall ye be holy, for, holy, am, I.
Car je suis le Seigneur qui vous ai tirés de la terre d'Egypte, pour être votre Dieu; et vous serez saints parce que je suis saint, moi, le Seigneur.
46 This, is the law of beast and of bird, and of every living soul that moveth in the waters, —and as to every soul that creepeth upon the earth:
Telle est la loi concernant les quadrupèdes, les oiseaux, et tout être vivant se mouvant dans l'eau, et tout être vivant qui rampe sur la terre.
47 That ye may make a difference—between the unclean and the clean, —and between the living thing that may be eaten, and the living thing which may not be eaten.
Telle est la séparation entre les purs et les impurs, entre les animaux que l'on peut manger, et ceux dont on ne peut goûter.
