Lamentations 1
1 How is seated alone, the city that abounded with people, hath become as a widow, —She who abounded among the nations was a princess among provinces, hath come under tribute.
૧જે નગર વસ્તીથી ભરેલું હતું, તે એકલવાયું થઈ ગયું છે! જે દેશવિદેશમાં મહાન ગણાતું હતું, તે વિધવા જેવું થઈ ગયું છે! જે દેશવિદેશમાં મહારાણી જેવું હતું, તે બીજી પ્રજાઓનું ગુલામ થઈ ગયું!
2 She, weepeth sore, in the night, and, her tear, is on her cheek, She hath none to comfort her, of all her lovers, —All her friends, have betrayed her, have become her foes.
૨તે રાત્રે પોક મૂકીને રડે છે અને તેના ગાલ પર અશ્રુધારા વહે છે. તેના પ્રેમીઓમાંથી તેને આશ્વાસન આપનાર કોઈ નથી. તેના સર્વ મિત્રોએ તેને દગો કર્યો છે. તેઓ તેના શત્રુઓ થયા છે.
3 Carried away captive is Judah—because of oppression, and because of great servitude, She, hath remained among the nations, hath found no place of rest, —All her pursuers, have overtaken her, between straits.
૩દુઃખને લીધે તથા કપરી ગુલામીને લીધે યહૂદા બંદીવાસમાં ગયો છે. તે અન્ય પ્રજાઓમાં રહે છે અને તેને વિસામો મળતો નથી. તેની પાછળ પડનારા સર્વએ તેને સંકળામણમાં લાવીને પકડી પાડ્યો છે.
4 The ways to Zion, are mourning, because none come to her appointed feasts, All her gates, are desolate, her priests, are sighing, —her virgins, are grieved, and, she, it is bitter for her.
૪સિયોનના માર્ગો શોક કરે છે કેમ કે ત્યાંના ઉત્સવોમાં કોઈ આવતું નથી. તેના સર્વ દરવાજા ઉજ્જડ થઈ ગયા છે. તેના યાજકો નિસાસા નાખે છે. તેની કુમારિકાઓ અતિ ઉદાસ થઈ ગઈ છે અને તે નગર ખિન્નતા અનુભવે છે.
5 Her adversaries have become chief, her foes, are at ease, for, Yahweh, hath grieved her, because of the multitude of her transgressions, —Her children, have gone into captivity, before the adversary.
૫નગરના શત્રુઓ તેના સત્તાધીશો થઈ ગયા; અને સમૃદ્ધ થયા. તેના અસંખ્ય પાપોના કારણે યહોવાહે તેને શિક્ષા કરીને તેને દુ: ખ દીધું છે. દુશ્મનો તેનાં બાળકોને ઢસડીને બંદીવાસમાં લઈ ગયા છે.
6 Thus hath gone forth from the daughter of Zion, all that adorned her, —Her princes have become like harts that have found no pasture, and have gone strengthless before the pursuer.
૬અને સિયોનની દીકરીની સુંદરતા જતી રહી છે. ત્યાંના સરદારો ચારા વગરનાં હરણો જેવા થયા છે; અને તેની પાછળ પડનારાની આગળ તેઓ બળહીન થઈને ચાલ્યા ગયા છે.
7 Jerusalem hath remembered in the days of her humiliation and her fleeings—all her precious things, which have existed from the days of old, —Now that her people have been falling into the hand of the adversary, with none to help her, the adversaries have seen her, have mocked over her sabbath-keepings.
૭યરુશાલેમ નગર પોતાના દુ: ખ તથા વિપત્તિના દિવસોમાં અગાઉના દિવસોમાંની પોતાની સર્વ જાહોજલાલીનું સ્મરણ કરે છે. જ્યારે તેના લોકો શત્રુના હાથમાં પડ્યા અને તેને સહાય કરનાર કોઈ નહોતું, ત્યારે શત્રુઓએ તેને જોયું અને તેની પાયમાલી જોઈને તેની મશ્કરી કરી.
8 Jerusalem, hath grievously sinned, For this cause, unto exile, hath she been delivered, —All who used to honour her, have despised her, for they have descried her unseemliness, yea, she herself, hath sighed, and turned back.
૮યરુશાલેમે ઘોર અપરાધ કર્યો છે; તેથી તે તિરસ્કારપાત્ર થઈ ગયું છે. જેઓ તેને માન આપતા હતા તેઓ હવે તેને તુચ્છ ગણે છે, કારણ કે તેઓએ નગ્નતા જેવી તેની અવસ્થા નિહાળી છે. તે પોતે મુખ સંતાડીને નિસાસા નાખ્યા કરે છે.
9 Her impurity, is in her skirts, She hath not remembered her hereafter, Therefore hath she come down wonderfully, none to comfort her, —Behold, O Yahweh, my humiliation, that the foe, hath made himself great.
૯તેની અશુદ્ધતા તેના વસ્ત્રોમાં છે. તેણે પોતાના ભવિષ્યનો વિચાર કર્યો નહિ. તેથી આશ્ચર્યકારક રીતે તેની અધોગતિ થઈ છે. તેને દિલાસો આપનાર કોઈ નથી. હે યહોવાહ, મારા દુઃખ પર દ્રષ્ટિ કરો; કેમ કે શત્રુઓ ચઢી આવ્યા છે.
10 His hand, hath the adversary spread out, over all her precious things, —for she saw that, the nations, entered her sanctuary, as to whom thou didst command they should not enter—in the convocation—unto thee!
૧૦શત્રુઓએ તેની સર્વ કિંમતી વસ્તુઓ પોતાને હસ્તગત કરી લીધી. જેઓને તમારી ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં આવવાની તમે મના કરી હતી, તે પ્રજાઓને તમારા પવિત્રસ્થાનમાં પેસતા તેણે જોયા છે.
11 All her people, are sighing, seeking bread, They have given their precious things for food, to bring back life, —Behold, O Yahweh, and discern, that I have become worthless.
૧૧તેના સર્વ લોકો નિસાસા નાખે છે, તેઓ રોટલીને માટે અહીંતહીં ભટકે છે. તેઓએ પોતાના જીવ બચાવવાને સારુ અન્ન મેળવવા માટે પોતાની કિંમતી વસ્તુઓ આપી દીધી છે. હે યહોવાહ, નજર કરીને જુઓ કે, મારો કેવો તિરસ્કાર થાય છે.
12 Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Look around and see, whether there is pain like my pain, which is severely dealt out to me, —in that Yahweh, hath caused grief, in the day of the glow of his anger?
૧૨રે પાસે થઈને સર્વ જનારા અને જોનારા, શું આ બધી બાબતોમાં તમે જોયું ના જોયું કરો છો? મારા પર જે દુ: ખ પડ્યું છે, તે ધ્યાન આપીને જુઓ, જે વડે યહોવાહે પોતાના ભારે કોપના સમયે મને દુઃખી કર્યું છે, તેના જેવું અન્ય કોઈ દુઃખ છે ખરું?
13 From on high, sent he fire, among my bones, and laid them prostrate, —He spread out a net for my feet, he made me turn back, he made me desolate, all the day, faint.
૧૩ઉપરથી ઈશ્વરે મારા હાડકાંમાં અગ્નિ મોકલ્યો અને તેમણે તેઓને નિર્બળ કર્યા છે. તેમણે મારા પગને ફસાવવા માટે જાળ પાથરી છે અને મને પાછું ફેરવ્યું છે. તેમણે મને એકલું છોડી દીધું છે અને આખો દિવસ નિર્બળ કર્યું છે.
14 The yoke of my transgressions, hath been bound, by his hand—They have intertwined themselves, have come up on my neck, it hath paralysed my strength, —My Lord, hath delivered me, into the hands of those against whom I cannot rise up.
૧૪મારા અપરાધોની ઝૂંસરીને તેમના હાથે જકડી લીધી છે. તેઓ અમળાઈને મારી ગરદન પર ચઢી બેઠા છે. તેમણે મારું બળ ઓછું કર્યું છે. જેઓની સામે હું ઊભી રહી શકતી નથી, તેઓના હાથમાં પ્રભુએ મને સોંપી છે.
15 My Lord, hath flouted at all my magnates, in my midst, He hath called against me a host, to crush my young men, —A winepress, hath My Lord trodden, to the virgin, the daughter of Judah.
૧૫પ્રભુએ મારામાંના સર્વ શ્રેષ્ઠ યોદ્ધાઓને તુચ્છકાર્યા છે. મારા શ્રેષ્ઠ યોદ્ધાઓને કચડી નાખવા માટે તેમણે મારી વિરુદ્ધ સભા બોલાવી છે. પ્રભુએ દ્રાક્ષચક્કીમાં યહૂદિયાની કુંવારી દીકરીને ખૂંદી નાખી છે.
16 For these things, am, I, weeping, Mine eye, mine eye, is running down with waters, for, far from me, is any who could comfort, could bring back my life, —My sons are amazed, for strong is the foe.
૧૬આને લીધે હું રડું છું. તેથી મારી આંખોમાંથી આંસુઓ વહી જાય છે. કેમ કે મને દિલાસો આપનાર તથા મારો જીવ બચાવનાર મારાથી દૂર છે. મારાં સંતાનો નિરાધાર છે, કારણ કે શત્રુઓએ તેમને હરાવ્યાં છે.
17 Zion, hath spread forth, her hands, there is none to comfort her, Yahweh, hath given command, respecting Jacob, unto them who surround him—his adversaries, —Jerusalem, hath become as a removed woman, in their midst.
૧૭સિયોન પોતાના હાથ લાંબા કરે છે; પણ તેને દિલાસો આપનાર કોઈ નથી. યહોવાહે યાકૂબ વિષે એવી આજ્ઞા આપી છે કે તેની આસપાસના રહેનારા સર્વ તેના શત્રુઓ થાય. તેઓમાં યરુશાલેમ તિરસ્કારપાત્ર વસ્તુ જેવું થયું છે.
18 Righteous is Yahweh, for, against his bidding, had I rebelled, —Hear, I pray you, all ye peoples, and see my pain, My virgins and my young men, have gone into exile.
૧૮યહોવાહ ન્યાયી છે, મેં તેમની વિરુદ્ધ બંડ કર્યું છે. હે સર્વ લોકો, કૃપા કરીને સાંભળો અને મારા દુઃખને જુઓ. મારી કુંવારીઓ તથા મારા જુવાનો બંદીવાસમાં ગયા છે.
19 I called to my lovers, they, deceived me, My priests and mine elders, in the city, have breathed their last, —for they sought them food, that they might bring back their life.
૧૯મેં મારા પ્રેમીઓ બોલાવ્યા, પણ તેઓએ મારો વિશ્વાસઘાત કર્યો. મારા યાજકો તથા મારા વડીલો પોતાના જીવ બચાવવા માટે અન્નને માટે વલખાં મારતા હતા, એટલામાં તેઓ નગરમાં મરણ પામ્યા.
20 See, O Yahweh, that I am in distress, Mine inward parts, are in ferment, My heart is turned within me, for I have obstinately rebelled, —Without, bereaveth the sword, Within, is like death,
૨૦હે યહોવાહ, જુઓ, કેમ કે હું ભારે દુ: ખમાં છું; મારી આંતરડી કકળે છે. મારા હૃદયને ચેન પડતું નથી, કેમ કે મેં ભારે બંડ કર્યો છે. રસ્તા પર તલવાર મારાં સંતાનોનો સંહાર કરે છે; ઘરમાં પણ મરણ જેવું વાતાવરણ છે.
21 They have heard—that, sighing am, I, [and am saying] —There is none to comfort me, All my foes, —having heard of my calamity—have rejoiced, because, thou, hast done it, —thou hast brought in the day thou didst proclaim, So let them become like me.
૨૧મારા નિસાસા સાંભળો. મને દિલાસો આપનાર કોઈ નથી. મારા સર્વ દુશ્મનોએ મારા દુ: ખ વિષે સાંભળ્યું છે. આ તમે જ કર્યું છે, માટે તેઓ ખુશ થાય છે. જે દિવસ તમે નિર્માણ કર્યો, તે દિવસ તમે તેમના પર લાવો અને તેઓ મારા જેવા થાય.
22 Let all their wickedness, come in, before thee, and deal thou severely with them, according as thou hast dealt severely with me, for all my transgressions; for many are my sighs, and, my heart, is sick.
૨૨તેઓની સર્વ દુષ્ટતા તમારી નજર આગળ આવે, મારા સર્વ અપરાધોને લીધે તમે મારા જેવા હાલ કર્યા છે; તેવા હાલ તેઓના કરો. કેમ કે હું ઘણા નિસાસા નાખું છું અને મારું હૃદય પીડિત થઈ ગયું છે.
