Judges 1
1 And it came to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel asked of Yahweh, saying, —Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites, first, to make war upon them?
E sucedeu, depois da morte de Josué, que os filhos de Israel perguntaram ao Senhor, dizendo: Quem dentre nós primeiro subirá aos cananeus, para pelejar contra eles?
2 And Yahweh said—Judah, shall go, —lo! I have delivered the land into his power.
E disse o Senhor: Judá subirá: eis que lhe dei esta terra na sua mão.
3 Then said Judah, unto Simeon his brother—Come up with me into the territory allotted me, and let us make war on the Canaanites, then will, I also, go with thee, into thy territory. So Simeon went with him.
Então disse Judá a Simeão, seu irmão: Sobe comigo à minha sorte, e pelejemos contra os cananeus, e também eu contigo subirei à tua sorte. E Simeão partiu com ele.
4 And Judah went up, and Yahweh delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, —and they smote them in Bezek, ten thousand men.
E subiu Judá, e o Senhor lhe deu na sua mão os cananeus e os pherezeus: e feriram deles em Bezek a dez mil homens.
5 And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek, and fought with him, —and smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
E acharam a Adoni-bezek em Bezek, e pelejaram contra ele: e feriram aos cananeus e aos pherezeus.
6 But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued him, —and took him, and cut off his thumbs, and his great toes.
Porém Adoni-bezek fugiu, e o seguiram, e o prenderam, e lhe cortaram os dedos polegares das mãos e dos pés.
7 Then said Adoni-bezek—Seventy kings, with their thumbs and great toes cut off, have been picking up crumbs under my table, as I have done, so, hath God requited me. And they brought him into Jerusalem, and he died there.
Então disse Adoni-bezek: Setenta reis com os dedos polegares das mãos e dos pés cortados apanhavam as migalhas debaixo da minha mesa: assim como eu fiz, assim Deus me pagou. E o trouxeram a Jerusalém, e morreu ali.
8 And the sons of Judah made war upon Jerusalem, and captured it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, —and, the city, they set on fire.
Porque os filhos de Judá pelejaram contra Jerusalém, e a tomaram, e a feriram ao fio da espada: e a cidade puseram a fogo.
9 And, afterwards, the sons of Judah went down to make war upon the Canaanites, —dwelling in the hill country, and in the south, and in the lowland.
E depois os filhos de Judá desceram a pelejar contra os cananeus que habitavam nas montanhas, e no sul, e nas planícies.
10 And Judah went against the Canaanites who were dwelling in Hebron, now, the name of Hebron, formerly, was Kiriath-arba, —and they smote Sheshai and Ahiman, and Talmai.
E partiu Judá contra os cananeus que habitavam em Hebron (era porém de antes o nome de Hebron Quiriath-arba): e feriram a Sesai, e a Ahiman e a Talmai.
11 And he went from thence, against the inhabitants of Debir, —now, the name of Debir, formerly, was Kiriath-sepher.
E dali partiu contra os moradores de Debir: e era de antes o nome de Debir Quiriath-sepher.
12 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and captureth it, I will give unto him Achsah my daughter, to wife.
E disse Caleb: Quem ferir a Quiriath-sepher, e a tomar, lhe darei a minha filha Acsa por mulher.
13 Then Othniel, son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, captured it, —and he gave him Achsah his daughter, to wife.
E tomou-a Othniel, filho de Kenaz, o irmão de Caleb, mais novo do que ele: e Caleb lhe deu a sua filha Acsa por mulher.
14 And it came pass, when she came, that she moved him to ask of her father a field, and, when she alighted from off the ass, Caleb said unto her—What aileth thee?
E sucedeu que, vindo ela a ele, o persuadiu que pedisse um campo a seu pai; e ela se apeou do jumento, saltando: e Caleb lhe disse: Que é o que tens?
15 And she said unto him—Give me a present; for, south land, hast thou given me, give me therefore pools of water. So Caleb gave her Upper-pools, and Lower-pools.
E ela lhe disse: Dá-me uma benção; pois me deste uma terra seca, dá-me também fontes de águas. E Caleb lhe deu as fontes superiores e as fontes inferiores.
16 Now, the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, had come up from the city of palm-trees, with the sons of Judah, into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad, —so they went and dwelt with the people.
Também os filhos do keneu, sogro de Moisés, subiram da cidade das palmeiras com os filhos de Judá ao deserto de Judá, que está ao sul de Arad: e foram, e habitaram com o povo.
17 Then went Judah, with Simeon his brother, and they smote the Canaanites dwelling in Zephath, —and devoted it to destruction, and the name of the city was called Hormah.
Foi-se pois Judá com Simeão, seu irmão, e feriram aos cananeus que habitavam em Zephath: e totalmente a destruiram, e chamaram o nome desta cidade Horma.
18 And Judah captured Gaza with the boundaries thereof, and Ashkelon, with the boundaries thereof, —and Ekron, with the boundaries thereof.
Tomou mais Judá a Gaza com o seu termo, e a Ascalon com o seu termo, e a Ecron com o seu termo.
19 And it same to pass that Yahweh was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, —but did not dispossess the inhabitants of the vale, because they had, chariots of iron.
E foi o Senhor com Judá, e despovoou as montanhas: porém não expeliu aos moradores do vale, porquanto tinham carros ferrados.
20 So they gave unto Caleb Hebron, as spake Moses, —and he drave out from thence the three sons of Anak.
E deram Hebron a Caleb, como Moisés o dissera: e dali expeliu os três filhos de Enak.
21 But, the Jebusites dwelling in Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin did not drive out, —but the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, unto this day.
Porém os filhos de Benjamin não expeliram os jebuseus que habitavam em Jerusalém: antes os jebuseus habitaram com os filhos de Benjamin em Jerusalém, até ao dia de hoje.
22 Then went up the house of Joseph—they also, —unto Bethel, —and, Yahweh, was with them.
E subiu também a casa de José a bethel, e foi o Senhor com eles.
23 And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel, —now, the name of the city, formerly, was, Luz.
E fez a casa de José espiar a bethel: e foi de antes o nome desta cidade Luz.
24 So the watchers saw a man, coming forth from the city, —and they said unto him—Shew us, we pray thee, the way to get into the city, and we will deal with thee, in lovingkindness.
E viram os espias a um homem, que saía da cidade, e lhe disseram: Ora mostra-nos a entrada da cidade, e usaremos contigo de beneficência.
25 And he shewed them the way to get into the city, and they smote the city, with the edge of the sword, —but, the man and all his family, they let go.
E, mostrando-lhes ele a entrada da cidade, feriram a cidade ao fio da espada: porém àquele homem e a toda a sua família deixaram ir.
26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, —and built a city, and called the name thereof, Luz, that, is the name thereof, unto this day.
Então aquele homem foi-se à terra dos heteus, e edificou uma cidade, e chamou o seu nome Luz; este é o seu nome até ao dia de hoje.
27 But Manasseh took not possession of Beth-shean and her towns, nor of Taanach and her towns, nor dispossessed the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam, and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo, and her towns, —but the Canaanites were determined to remain in this land;
Nem Manasseh expeliu os habitantes de Beth-sean, nem dos lugares da sua jurisdição; nem a Taanach, com os lugares da sua jurisdição; nem aos moradores de Dor, com os lugares da sua jurisdição; nem aos moradores de Ibleam, com os lugares da sua jurisdição; nem aos moradores de Megiddo, com os lugares da sua jurisdição: e quizeram os cananeus habitar na mesma terra.
28 when Israel, however, had waxed strong, they put the Canaanites under tribute, —though they, dispossessed, them not.
E sucedeu que, quando Israel cobrou mais forças, fez dos cananeus tributários: porém não os expeliu de todo.
29 And, Ephraim, dispossessed not the Canaanites who were dwelling in Gezer, —so the Canaanites remained in their midst, in Gezer.
Tão pouco expeliu Ephraim aos cananeus que habitavam em Gezer: antes os cananeus habitavam no meio dele, em Gezer.
30 Zebulun, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, —but the Canaanites remained in their midst, and came under tribute.
Tão pouco expeliu Zebulon aos moradores de Kitron, nem aos moradores de Nahalol: porém os cananeus habitavam no meio dele, e foram tributários.
31 Asher, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, —nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;
Tão pouco Aser expeliu aos moradores de Acco, nem aos moradores de Sidon: como nem a Acbal, nem a Acsih, nem a Chelba, nem a Aphik, nem a Recob;
32 but the Asherites dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, —for they dispossessed them not.
Porém os aseritas habitaram no meio dos cananeus que habitavam na terra: porquanto os não expeliram.
33 Naphtali, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but they dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, —and, the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, and of Beth-anath, became theirs, under tribute.
Tão pouco Naphtali expeliu aos moradores de Beth-semes, nem aos moradores de Beth-anath; mas habitou no meio dos cananeus que habitavam na terra: porém lhes foram tributários os moradores de Beth-semes e Beth-anath.
34 And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill country, —for they suffered them not to come down into the vale;
E apertaram os amorreus aos filhos de Dan até às montanhas: porque nem os deixavam descer ao vale.
35 and, though the Amorites were determined to remain in the hill country of Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, yet was the hand of the house of Joseph heavy, so that they came under tribute.
Também os amorreus quizeram habitar nas montanhas de Heres, em Ajalon e em Saalbim: porém prevaleceu a mão da casa de José, e ficaram tributários.
36 And, the boundary of the Amorites, was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela and upwards.
E foi o termo dos amorreus desde a subida de Akrabbim: desde a penha, e dali para cima.
