< Judges 6 >
1 And the sons of Israel did the thing that was wicked, in the sight of Yahweh, —so Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years;
Mwet Israel elos sifilpa orekma koluk ye mutun LEUM GOD, na LEUM GOD El eisalosyang nu inpoun mwet Midian ke lusen yac itkosr.
2 and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel, —because of Midian, did the sons of Israel prepare for themselves the hollows which were in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
Mwet Midian elos ku liki mwet Israel, ke ma inge mwet Israel elos wikwik in luf ku kutepacna acn elos ku in wikla we fineol uh.
3 And so it used to be, if Israel had sown, then came up Midian and Amalek and the sons of the east, yea came up against them,
Pacl nukewa ma mwet Israel inge ac yukwi sacn sunalos uh, mwet Midian ac mwet Amalek ac mwet ma muta yen mwesis uh elos ac tuku ac orek lokoalok nu selos.
4 and encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the land, until thou comest unto Gaza, —neither left they sustenance in Israel, nor sheep nor ox, nor ass;
Mwet inge ac tuku tulokinya lohm nuknuk selos uh in acn elos imai inge, ac kunausla ima ac sacn sunalos uh. Elos ac kunausla acn inge som na nwe eir apkuran nu Gaza. Elos ac oayapa sruok sheep, cow, ac donkey natulos, ac tia filiya kutena ma nu sin mwet Israel.
5 for, they with their cattle, used to come up, with their tents—yea they used to come like locusts, for multitude, both they and their cattle, were without number, —so they came into the land, to lay it waste.
Ke mwet inge ac tuku wi ma orakrak natulos ac lohm nuknuk selos uh, elos arulana pus oana pusiyen locust uh. Mwet inge, weang camel natulos uh, elos arulana pusla, tia ku in oaoala. Elos ac fahsrot kunausla acn na lulap,
6 Thus was Israel greatly impoverished, because of Midian, —and the sons of Israel made outcry unto Yahweh.
ac wangin ma mwet Israel ku in oru nu selos. Na mwet Israel elos wowoyak nu sin LEUM GOD tuh Elan kasrelos.
7 And it came to pass, when the sons of Israel cried unto Yahweh, —on account of Midian,
Ke mwet Israel elos wowoyak nu sin LEUM GOD ke sripen mwet Midian inge,
8 then sent Yahweh a prophet unto the sons of Israel, —who said unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, I, led you up out of Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of servants;
na LEUM GOD El ac supwama sie mwet palu nu yurin mwet Israel, ac el ac fahk nu selos, “LEUM GOD El fahk, Nga God lun Israel, su uskowosme liki sruoh lowos in acn Egypt.
9 Yea I rescued you out of the hand of Egypt, and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, —that I might drive them out from before you, and I gave unto you their land;
Nga molikowosla liki mwet Egypt, oayapa liki mwet su lain kowos in facl se inge. Nga lusak mwet lokoalok lowos ye motowos ac eisla facl selos ac asot tuh in ma lowos.
10 Yea and I said to you, —I, Yahweh, am your God, Ye must not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye are about to dwell, —But ye have not hearkened unto my voice.
Nga tuh fahk nu suwos lah nga LEUM GOD lowos, ac kowos in tia alu nu sin god lun mwet Amor su kowos muta fin acn selos inge. Tuh pa kowos tiana porongeyu.”
11 Then came the messenger of Yahweh, and sat down under the oak which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash, the Abiezrite; and, Gideon his son, was beating out wheat in the winepress, to escape the notice of the Midianites;
Na sie lipufan lun LEUM GOD El tuku nu Ophrah ac muta ye sak oak soko sunal Joash, sie mwet in ota lal Abiezer. Gideon, wen natul, el wikla muta tuktuk wheat ke nien fut wain, mwet Midian inge in tia liyal.
12 so the messenger of Yahweh appeared unto him, —and said unto him, Yahweh, is with thee, thou mighty man of valour!
Na lipufan sac sikyang nu sel ac fahk, “LEUM GOD El wi kom. Kom sie mwet ku ac pulaik!”
13 And Gideon said unto him—Pardon, my lord! if Yahweh be with us, then wherefore hath all this befallen us? and where are all his wonders, which our fathers have recounted to us—saying, Was it not, out of Egypt, that Yahweh brought us up? But, now, hath Yahweh abandoned us, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.
Na Gideon el fahk nu sel, “Oasr sie ma nga kena siyuk sum. LEUM GOD El fin wi kut, efu ku ma inge sikyak ouinge nu sesr— Pia sruhk ma wowo mwet matu lasr meet ah tuh srumun nu sesr mu LEUM GOD El tuh oru wo nu selos ke El tuh usalosme liki acn Egypt ah— Pacl inge LEUM GOD El siskutla ac filikuti ye poun mwet Midian inge.”
14 And Yahweh, turned unto him, and said—Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel, out of the hand of Midian, —have I not sent thee?
Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Gideon, “Fahsrot ke ku lom kewa, ac molela mwet Israel liki mwet Midian. Nga pa supwekom uh.”
15 And he said unto him—Pardon, O my Lord! How, shall I save Israel? Lo! my thousand, is the poorest in Manasseh, and, I, am the youngest in the house of my father.
Ac Gideon el topuk ac fahk, “O LEUM GOD, nga ac molela Israel fuka— Ota luk uh pa munas emeet ke sruf lal Manasseh, ac nga pa pilasr emeet in sou luk uh.”
16 And Yahweh said unto him—I will be with thee, —so shalt thou smite the Midianites, as one man.
LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel, “Kom ku in oru mweyen nga ac fah kasrekom. Kom ac fah itungya mwet Midian inge arulana fisrasr, oana in mwet sefanna.”
17 And he said unto him, If, I beseech thee, I have found favour in thine eyes, then wilt thou work for me a sign, that it is, thou, who art speaking with me.
Ac Gideon el topuk, “Nga fin ohi sum, nga siyuk tuh kom in ase sie mwe akul in akpwayeye lah kom pa LEUM GOD.
18 Do not, I beseech thee, withdraw from hence, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said: I, will tarry until thou return.
Nunak munas, nikmet som nwe ke nga use kutu mwe mongo nu sum.” Na lipufan sac fahk, “Nga ac mutana nwe ke kom foloko.”
19 So, Gideon, went in, and made ready a kid of the goats, and, of an ephah of meal, unleavened cakes, the flesh, he put in a basket, and, the broth, he put in a pot, —and brought them forth unto him, under the oak, and presented them.
Na Gideon el som nu in lohm sel ah, ac akmolyela nani fusr soko, ac el eis sie bushel in flao ac munanla bread wangin mwe pulol kac. El sang ikwa sac nu in fotoh se ac sup ah nu in tup se, ac use ma inge nu yurin lipufan lun LEUM GOD su muta ye sak oak soko ah, ac el sang nu sel tuh elan mongo.
20 And the messenger of God said unto him—Take the flesh and the cakes, and set them on this crag, and, the broth, do thou pour out. And he did so.
Ac lipufan sac fahk nu sel, “Filiya ikwa ac bread an fin eot se inge, ac okoaung sup an nu fac.” Gideon el oru oana.
21 Then the messenger of Yahweh put forth the end of the staff, that was in his hand, and touched the flesh, and the cakes, —and there came up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh, and the cakes, and, the messenger of Yahweh, had departed out of his sight.
Na lipufan lun LEUM GOD el asroela sak soko oan inpaol ah, ac pusralla ikwa ac bread inge ke mutun sak soko ah. Na e se sikyak ke eot sac twe esukak ikwa ac bread inge. Na lipufan sac wanginla.
22 Then saw Gideon that, the messenger of Yahweh, it was, —so Gideon said—Alas, My Lord Yahweh! forasmuch as I have seen the messenger of Yahweh, face to face!
Ke ma inge Gideon el akilen lah lipufan lun LEUM GOD pa el liye ah. Na Gideon el sangeng ac fahk, “O LEUM GOD Fulat, nga liye na pwaye lipufan lom — kut angetani sie sin sie!”
23 And Yahweh said unto him—Peace be unto thee! Do not fear, —thou shalt not die.
A LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel, “Misla nu sum, ac nikmet sangeng. Kom ac fah tia misa.”
24 So Gideon built there an altar unto Yahweh, and called it, Yahweh-shalom. Unto this day, it remaineth, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
Ac Gideon el etoak sie loang nu sin LEUM GOD in acn sac, ac el pangon loang sac “LEUM GOD El Misla.” (Loang se inge srakna oan Ophrah nwe misenge. Acn sac ma lun ota lal Abiezer.)
25 And it came to pass, on that night, that Yahweh said unto him—Take the young bullock that belongeth to thy father, even the second bullock of seven years, —and throw thou down the altar of Baal, that belongeth to thy father, and, the sacred stem that is by it, shalt thou cut down.
In fong sacna LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Gideon, “Eis cow mukul nutin papa tomom an, ac soko pac ma yac itkosr matwa, ac kunausya loang lun Baal su papa tomom el orala, ac pakpakiya ma sruloala kacl god Asherah, su ma oanna siska an.
26 Then shalt thou build an altar, unto Yahweh thy God, on the top of this fort, with the pile, —and shalt take the second bullock, and cause it to go up as an ascending-sacrifice, with the wood of the sacred stem which thou shalt cut down.
Etoak sie loang na wowo an nu sin LEUM GOD lom fin tohktok se inge. Ac eis cow soko aklukwa ma yac itkosr an, ac oru sie kisa firir an kac, ac etongkin kutkut in sak ma kom pakpakiya ke ma sruloala kacl Asherah.”
27 So Gideon took ten men from among his servants, and did as Yahweh had spoken unto him, —and so it was that, as he too much feared the house of his father, and the men of the city, to do it by day, he did it by night.
28 And the men of the city rose up early in the morning, and lo! the altar of Baal, had been overthrown, and, the sacred stem that was by it, had been cut down, and the second bullock had been caused to ascend upon the altar that had been built.
Ke mwet in siti uh toang tukakek in lotu tok ah, elos liye tuh loang lal Baal ac ma sruloala kacl Asherah ah musalsalu, ac cow soko aklukwa ah kisakinyuk tari fin loang se su musaiyukyak.
29 So they said, one to another, Who hath done this thing? And they inquired, and made search, and it was said, Gideon son of Joash, hath done this thing.
Mwet uh asiyuki sie sin sie ac fahk, “Su oru ma se inge?” Elos suk nwe konauk tuh na Gideon, wen natul Joash, pa oru ma sac.
30 So the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring forth thy son, that he may die, —because he hath overthrown the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the sacred stem that was by it.
Na elos fahk nu sel Joash, “Use wen nutum nu inge tuh kut in unilya! El kunausla loang lal Baal ac pakpakiya ma sruloala lal Asherah su oan siska.”
31 And Joash said unto all who stood by him—Will, ye, plead for Baal, or will, ye, save him? Whoso pleadeth for him, let him be put to death while it is yet morning, —if, a god, he be let him plead for himself, because one hath overthrown his altar.
Ac Joash el fahk nu selos su tuku in lainul, “Ya kowos ac welul Baal lac— Ya kowos ac eis acn sel— Kutena mwet fin welul, el ac fah anwuki meet liki lututang. Baal el fin sie god, lela elan sifacna molella. Ma lal pa loang se ma kunausyukla ah.”
32 So he was called on that day, Jerubbaal, saying, —Let Baal, plead against him. Because he had overthrown his altar.
Tukun pacl se inge, pangpang Gideon “Jerubbaal,” ke sripen Joash el fahk mu, “Lela Baal elan sifacna molella. Ma lal pa loang se ma kunausyukla ah.”
33 Now, all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the sons of the east, were gathered together, —and they crossed over and pitched in the vale of Jezreel.
Na mwet Midian, mwet Amalek, ac mwet yen mwesis uh elos toeni, ac fahsr sasla Infacl Jordan ac tulokunak lohm nuknuk selos ke Infahlfal Jezreel.
34 But, the spirit of Yahweh, clothed Gideon, —so he blew with a horn, and Abiezer was gathered after him.
Ngunin LEUM GOD tuku nu facl Gideon, ac el ukya mwe ukuk uh in pangon mwet in ota lal Abiezer tuh elos in fahsr tokol.
35 Messengers also, sent he throughout all Manasseh, and, they also, were gathered after him, —messengers also, sent he throughout Asher, and throughout Zebulun, and throughout Naphtali, and they came up to meet them.
El supwala mwet utuk kas in fahsr sasla acn lun mwet Manasseh Roto ac mwet Manasseh Kutulap kewa elos in tuku fahsr tokol. El supwala pac mwet utuk kas nu sin sruf lal Asher ac Zebulun ac Naphtali, na elos tuku pac welul.
36 And Gideon said unto God, —If thou art about to bring salvation, by my hand, unto Israel, as thou hast spoken,
Na Gideon el fahk nu sin LEUM GOD, “Kom fahk mu kom suleyula tuh kom in orekmakinyu in molela mwet Israel.
37 lo! I am placing a woollen fleece, on the threshing-floor, —if, dew, be on the fleece alone and, on all the ground, it be dry, then shall I know that thou wilt bring salvation, by my hand, unto Israel, as thou hast spoken.
Liye, nga ac filiya kutu unen sheep fin fohk uh in nien kulkul wheat uh. Lututang nga fah liye, fin oasr aunfong ke unen sheep uh a wangin fin fohk uh, na nga fah etu lah pwaye kom ac orekmakinyu in molela mwet Israel.”
38 And it was so, and he rose up early, on the morrow, and pressed together the fleece, —and wrung out the dew from the fleece, a small bowl full of water.
Na sikyak oana ma el siyuk ah. Ke Gideon el toang tukakek in lotu tok ah, el fulala unac sac na kof kac ah nwakla pol se.
39 Then said Gideon unto God, Let not thine anger kindle upon me, but let me speak, only this once, —Let me, I pray thee, put to the proof, only this once, with the fleece, I pray thee, let it be dry on the fleece alone, while, on all the ground, there be dew.
Na Gideon el fahk nu sin God, “Nikmet mulat sik, mweyen nga ke fahkak pac sie ma. Nunak munas, lela nu sik tuh nga in srike siyuk sie pac ma ke unen sheep uh. Ke pacl se inge, oru tuh unen sheep uh in pao, ac fin fohk uh in sroksrok.”
40 And God did so on that night, —and it was dry on the fleece alone, while, on all the ground, there was dew.
Ke fong sac God El oru oana. Ke lututang ah unen sheep sac pao na, a fin fohk uh sroksrok ke aunfong.
