Joshua 5
1 And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites who were over the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard how that Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan, from before the sons of Israel, until they had passed over, that their heart melted, and there was no spirit in them any more, because of the sons of Israel.
Y cuando todos los reyes de los Amorreos, que estaban de la otra parte del Jordán, al occidente: y todos los reyes de los Cananeos, que estaban cerca de la mar, oyeron como Jehová había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que hubieron pasado, su corazón se les derritió, y no hubo más espíritu en ellos delante de los hijos de Israel.
2 At that time, said Yahweh unto Joshua, Make thee knives of flint, —and again circumcise the sons of Israel, a second time.
En aquel tiempo Jehová dijo a Josué: Hazte cuchillos agudos, y vuelve, circuncida la segunda vez a los hijos de Israel.
3 So Joshua made him knives of flint, —and circumcised the sons of Israel, at the Hill of Foreskins.
Y Josué se hizo cuchillos agudos, y circuncidó los hijos de Israel en el monte de los prepucios.
4 Now, this, is the cause why Joshua did circumcise, —all the people who came forth out of Egypt, who were males, all the men of war, died in the desert, by the way, after they came forth out of Egypt.
Esta es la causa por la cual Josué circuncidó: Todo el pueblo que había salido de Egipto, es a saber, los varones: todos los hombres de guerra, eran muertos ya en el desierto en el camino, después que salieron de Egipto.
5 For, though all the people who came forth had been circumcised, yet, all the people who were born in the desert by the way, after they came forth out of Egypt, had they not circumcised.
Porque todos los del pueblo que habían salido, estaban circuncidados: mas todo el pueblo, que había nacido en el desierto en el camino, después que salieron de Egipto, no estaban circuncidados.
6 Because, for forty years, did the sons of Israel journey in the desert, until all the nation who were men of war, who came forth out of Egypt, were consumed, because they hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh, —unto whom Yahweh sware that he would not let them see the land, which Yahweh sware unto their fathers, that he would give unto us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron por el desierto cuarenta años, hasta que toda la gente de los hombres de guerra, que habían salido de Egipto, fue consumida, por cuanto no obedecieron a la voz de Jehová: por lo cual Jehová les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra, de la cual Jehová había jurado a sus padres, que nos la daría, tierra que corre leche y miel.
7 Their sons, therefore, whom he had raised up in their stead, them, did Joshua circumcise, —for, uncircumcised, they were, in that they had not circumcised them by the way.
Mas los hijos de ellos, que él había hecho suceder en su lugar, Josué los circuncidó: los cuales aun eran incircuncisos, porque no habían sido circuncidados por el camino.
8 And so it came to pass, when they had made an end of circumcising all the nation, they remained in their place, in the camp, until they were healed.
Y cuando hubieron acabado de circuncidar toda la gente, quedáronse en el mismo lugar en el campo, hasta que sanaron.
9 Then said Yahweh unto Joshua, To-day, have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of that place is called Gilgal ["a rolling away"]unto this day.
Y Jehová dijo a Josué: Hoy he quitado de vosotros el oprobio de Egipto: por lo cual el nombre de aquel lugar fue llamado Galgala, hasta hoy.
10 Thus then the sons of Israel encamped in Gilgal, —and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, in the waste plains of Jericho.
Y los hijos de Israel asentaron el campo en Galgala. Y celebraron la pascua a los catorce días del mes a la tarde, en los llanos de Jericó.
11 And they did eat of the corn of the land, on the morrow of the passover, unleavened cakes and parched ears of corn, —on this selfsame day.
Y al otro día de la pascua comieron del fruto de la tierra los panes sin levadura, y espigas nuevas tostadas, el mismo día.
12 And the manna ceased on the morrow, when they had eaten of the corn of the land, neither had the sons of Israel manna any more, —so they did eat of the yield of the land of Canaan throughout that year.
Y el man cesó el día siguiente, desde que comenzaron a comer del fruto de la tierra; y los hijos de Israel nunca más tuvieron man, mas comieron de los frutos de la tierra de Canaán aquel año.
13 And it came to pass, while Joshua was at Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes, and looked, and lo! a man standing over against him, with his sword drawn, in his hand, —so Joshua went unto him, and said to him, For us, art thou, or for our adversaries?
Y estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó sus ojos, y vio un varón que estaba delante de él, el cual tenía una espada desnuda en su mano. Y Josué yéndose hacia él, le dijo: ¿Eres de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos? Y él respondió:
14 And he said—Nay, but, I, as prince of the host of Yahweh, have, now, come. So Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said unto him, What is my lord speaking unto his servant?
No; mas yo soy el príncipe del ejército de Jehová: ahora he venido. Entonces Josué postrándose sobre su rostro en tierra adoró: y díjole: ¿Qué dice mi señor a su siervo?
15 Then said the prince of the host of Yahweh unto Joshua—Slip off thy sandals from thy feet, for, as for the place whereon thou art standing, holy, it is. And Joshua did so.
Y el príncipe del ejército de Jehová respondió a Josué: Quita tus zapatos de tus pies; porque el lugar donde estás es santo, y Josué lo hizo así.
