Joshua 23
1 And it came to pass, after many days, when Yahweh had given rest unto Israel, from all their enemies round about, —and, Joshua, had become old, advanced in days,
Después de muchos días, cuando Yahvé había dado descanso a Israel de sus enemigos de alrededor, y Josué era viejo y bien avanzado en años,
2 that Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, —and said unto them, I, am old, advanced in days;
Josué convocó a todo Israel, a sus ancianos y a sus jefes, a sus jueces y a sus oficiales, y les dijo: “Soy viejo y bien avanzado en años.
3 but, ye, have seen—all that Yahweh your God hath done unto all those nations, because of you, —for, Yahweh your God, is he that hath fought for you.
Ustedes han visto todo lo que Yahvé su Dios ha hecho a todas estas naciones por causa de ustedes; porque es Yahvé su Dios quien ha luchado por ustedes.
4 Behold, I have allotted to you these nations which remain, as an inheritance, for your tribes, —from the Jordan, and all the nations which I have cut off, even unto the great sea, at the going in of the sun.
He aquí que te he asignado estas naciones que quedan, para que sean una herencia para tus tribus, desde el Jordán, con todas las naciones que he cortado, hasta el gran mar hacia la puesta del sol.
5 But, Yahweh your God—he, will thrust them out from before you, and drive them away out of your sight, —so shall ye possess their land, as Yahweh your God spoke unto you.
El Señor, tu Dios, las echará de delante de ti y las expulsará de tu vista. Poseerás su tierra, tal como te habló el Señor tu Dios.
6 Therefore must ye be very firm to observe and to do all that is written in the scroll of the law of Moses, —so as not to turn aside therefrom, to the right hand or to the left;
“Por lo tanto, tened mucho ánimo para guardar y hacer todo lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, para que no os apartéis de él ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda;
7 so as not to go in among these nations, these which remain with you, —and, with the name of their gods, shall ye neither make memorial nor put on oath, and neither serve them, —nor bow down to them.
para que no os acerquéis a esas naciones que quedan entre vosotros, ni hagáis mención del nombre de sus dioses, ni hagáis jurar por ellos, ni les sirváis, ni os inclinéis ante ellos;
8 But, unto Yahweh your God, must ye cleave, —as, ye have done until this day;
sino que os aferréis a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, como lo habéis hecho hasta hoy.
9 therefore hath Yahweh dispossessed, from before you, nations great and strong, —but, as for you, not a man hath stood before you, until this day.
“Porque el Señor ha expulsado de delante de ti a naciones grandes y fuertes. Pero en cuanto a ti, ningún hombre se ha enfrentado a ti hasta el día de hoy.
10 One man of you, can chase a thousand, —for, Yahweh your God, is he that fighteth for you, as he spake to you.
Un solo hombre de vosotros perseguirá a mil, porque es Yahvé vuestro Dios quien lucha por vosotros, como os ha dicho.
11 Take diligent heed, therefore, unto your souls, —to love Yahweh your God.
Por lo tanto, cuidaos bien de amar a Yahvé, vuestro Dios.
12 But, if ye, do in any wise turn back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, these which remain with you, —and intermarry with them, and go in with them, and, they, with you;
“Pero si en algún momento retrocedes y te aferras a los restos de estas naciones, a los que quedan en medio de ti, y contraes matrimonio con ellos, y te acercas a ellos, y ellos a ti;
13 know, that Yahweh your God will no further drive out these nations from before you, —but they will become unto you a snare and a hook, and a goad in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye have perished from off this goodly soil, which Yahweh your God hath given unto you.
ten por seguro que el Señor, tu Dios, ya no echará a estas naciones de tu vista, sino que serán para ti un lazo y una trampa, un azote en tus costados y espinas en tus ojos, hasta que perezcas de esta buena tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te ha dado.
14 But lo! I am going to-day, in the way of all the earth, —ye must acknowledge, therefore, with all your heart and with all your soul, that there hath not failed a single thing, out of all the good things which Yahweh your God spake concerning you, the whole, hath come to pass to you, there hath not failed thereof, a single thing.
“He aquí que hoy voy a recorrer el camino de toda la tierra. Vosotros sabéis en todo vuestro corazón y en toda vuestra alma que no ha faltado ni una sola cosa de todas las buenas que el Señor, vuestro Dios, habló de vosotros. Todo os ha sucedido. No ha faltado ni una sola cosa.
15 But it shall be that, as all the good things have come unto you, which Yahweh your God spake unto you, so, will Yahweh bring upon you all the evil things, until he hath destroyed you from off this goodly soil, which Yahweh your God hath given unto you.
Sucederá que así como os han sucedido todas las cosas buenas de las que os habló Yahvé vuestro Dios, así también Yahvé traerá sobre vosotros todas las cosas malas, hasta que os haya destruido de esta buena tierra que Yahvé vuestro Dios os ha dado,
16 When ye transgress the covenant of Yahweh your God which he hath commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow yourselves down unto them, then will the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you, and ye will perish quickly, from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
cuando desobedezcáis el pacto de Yahvé vuestro Dios, que él os mandó, y vayáis a servir a otros dioses, y os inclinéis ante ellos. Entonces la ira de Yahvé se encenderá contra vosotros, y pereceréis rápidamente de la buena tierra que os ha dado.”
