Joshua 20
1 And Yahweh spake unto Joshua, saying:
Y habló el SEÑOR a Josué, diciendo:
2 Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, —Set out for you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you, by the hand of Moses:
Habla a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por Moisés;
3 that the manslayer who slayeth a person by mistake, unwittingly, may flee thither, —so shall they be unto you for refuge from the blood-redeemer,
para que se acoja allí el homicida que matare a alguno por yerro y no a sabiendas; que os sean por acogimiento del vengador de la sangre del muerto.
4 and he shall flee unto one of these cities and present himself at the entrance of the gate of the city, and shall speak, in the ears of the elders of that city, his defence, —and they shall take him for protection into the city unto them, and shall give him a place, so shall he dwell with them.
Y el que se acogiere a alguna de aquellas ciudades, se presentará a la puerta de la ciudad, y dirá sus causas, oyéndolo los ancianos de aquella ciudad; y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar que habite con ellos.
5 And, when the blood-redeemer pursueth after him, then shall they not deliver up the manslayer, into his hand, —because, unwittingly, it was that he slew his neighbour, and had not been, cherishing hatred, towards him, aforetime;
Y cuando el vengador de la sangre le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió a su prójimo por yerro, ni tuvo con él antes enemistad.
6 so shall he remain in that city, until he standeth before the assembly, for judgment, until the death of the high-priest who shall be in those days, —then, shall the manslayer return, and enter into his own city, and into his own house, within the city from whence he fled.
Y quedará en aquella ciudad hasta que parezca en juicio delante del ayuntamiento, hasta la muerte del sumo sacerdote que fuere en aquel tiempo; entonces el homicida tornará y vendrá a su ciudad y a su casa y a la ciudad de donde huyó.
7 So then they set apart Kadesh in Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali, and Shechem, in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah.
Entonces señalaron a Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Neftalí, y a Siquem en el monte de Efraín, y a Quiriat-arba, que es Hebrón, en el monte de Judá.
8 And, beyond the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness, in the table-land, out of the tribe of Reuben, —and Ramoth in Gilead, out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, out of the tribe of Manasseh.
Y al otro lado del Jordán de Jericó, al oriente, señalaron a Beser en el desierto, en la llanura de la tribu de Rubén, y a Ramot en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y a Golán en Basán de la tribu de Manasés.
9 These, were the cities appointed for all the sons of Israel, and for the sojourner who sojourneth in their midst, that whosoever should slay a person by mistake, might flee thither, —and not die by the hand of the blood-redeemer, until he should stand before the assembly.
Estas fueron las ciudades señaladas para todos los hijos de Israel, y para el extranjero que morase entre ellos, para que se acogiese a ellas cualquiera que hiriese hombre por yerro; para que no muriese por mano del vengador de la sangre, hasta que compareciese delante del ayuntamiento.
