Joshua 15

1 So then the boundary of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families, —reached unto the boundary of Edom, the desert of Zin southward, on the extreme south;

3 and goeth forth on the south of the cliffs of Akrabbim, and crosseth over to Zin, and goeth up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, —and passeth over by Hezron, and goeth up to Addar, and turneth round to Karka;

Mpaka wao mwingine ulielekea upande wa kusini wa mlima wa Akrabimu na kupita kuelekea Sini, na kupanda upande wa Kadeshi Barnea, karibu na Hezroni, hadi Addari mahali ambapo ulipinda kuelekea Karika.

4 and passeth over to Azmon, and goeth forth at the ravine of Egypt, and so the extensions of the boundary are to the sea. This, shall be your south boundary.

Ulipita katika Azimoni, kuelekea kijito cha Misri, na mwisho ulikuwa katika bahari. Huu ulikuwa ni mpaka wa kusini.

5 And, a boundary eastward, is the Salt Sea, as far as the end of the Jordan. And, the boundary on the north side, is from the bay of the sea, from the end of the Jordan.

Mpaka wa mashariki ulikuwa ni Bahari ya Chumvi, katika mdomo wa Yordani. Mpaka wa upande wa kasikazini ulianzia katika ghuba ya bahari katika mdomo wa Yordani.

6 And the boundary goeth up Beth-hoglah, and passeth over, on the north, by Beth-arabah, —and the boundary goeth up by the Stone of Bohan, son of Reuben;

Ulielekea mpaka Bethi Hogla na ulipita kaskazini mwa Bethi Araba. Kisha ulipanda hata JIwe la Bohani mwana wa Rubeni.

7 and the boundary goeth up towards Debir, out of the vale of Achor, then northward, turning unto Gilgal, which is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the ravine, —then the boundary passeth over unto the waters of En-shemesh, and so the extensions thereof are unto En-rogel:

8 then ascendeth the boundary by the valley of the son of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite, on the south, the same, is Jerusalem, —and the boundary goeth up unto the top of the mountain which faceth the valley of Hinnom, to the west, which is at the end of the Vale of Giants, northwards;

kisha mpaka ulishuka hadi bonde la Beni Hinomu kuelekea upande wa kusini wa mji wa Wayebusi ( ambao ni Yerusalemu). Kisha ulipanda hata katika mlima ulio juu ya bonde la Hinomu, katika upande wa magharibi, ulio mwishoni mwa bonde la Refaimu katika upande wa kasikazini.

9 and the boundary turneth round, from the top of the mountain, unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and goeth out unto the cities of Mount Ephron, —then the boundary turneth round to Baalah, the same, is Kiriath-jearim;

Kisha mpaka ulitanuka kutoka katika kilele cha milima hata chemichemi ya Nefutoa, na ulipanda kutoka hapo kuelekea miji ya Mlima Efroni. Kisha mpaka ulipiga kona kuelekea Baala ( ambao ndio Kiriathi Yearimu).

10 then the boundary goeth round from Baalah westward, unto Mount Seir, and passeth over unto the slope of Mount Yearim, on the north, the same, is Chesalon, —and descendeth Bethshemesh, and passeth over Timnah;

Baadaye mpaka ulizunguka kuelekea magharibi mwa Baala kukabili Mlima Seiri, na kupita kufuata upande wa Mlima wa Yearimu katika upande wa kasikazini (ambao ndio Kesaloni), ulienda chini hadi Bethi Shemeshi na kuvuka hata ng'ambo ya Timna.

11 then the boundary goeth forth unto the side of Ekron, northward, then the boundary turneth round towards Shikkeron, and crosseth over Mount Baalah, and goeth out at Jabneel, —and the extensions of the boundary are to the sea.

Mpaka uliendelea karibu na mlima wa kasikazini mwa mlima wa Ekroni, na kisha ukakata kona kuzunguka Shikeroni na kupita kuelekea sambasamba na Mlima Baala, kutoka hapo uliendelea hadi Yabneeli. Mpaka ule ulikomea katika bahari.

12 And, as a west boundary, are the great sea and coast. This, is the boundary of the sons of Judah, round about, by their families.

Mpaka wa magharibi ulikuwa Bahari Kuu na katika ukanda wa pwani yake. Huu ndio mpaka uliozunguka kabila la Yuda, ukoo kwa ukoo.

13 And, to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, gave he a portion, in the midst of the sons of Judah, at the bidding of Yahweh, by Joshua, —even the City of Arba, father of Anak, the same, is Hebron.

Katika kulitunza agizo la Yahweh kwa Yoshua, Yoshua alimpa Kalebu mwana wa Yefune mgao wa nchi ya. miongoni mwa kabila la Yuda, alimgawia nchi Kiriathi Arba, ambayo ndio Hebroni (Arba alikuwa ni baba wa Anaki).

14 And Caleb dispossessed from thence, the three sons of Anak, —Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.

Kalebu aliwafukuzia mbali wana watatu wa Anaki: Sheshai, Ahimani na Talmai, wazawa wa Anaki.

15 And he went up from thence, against the inhabitants of Debir, —now, the name of Debir, formerly, was Kiriath-sepher.

Alipanda kutoka pale kinyume cha wenyeji wa Debiri (Debiri hapo mwanzo iliitwa Kiriathi Seferi).

16 Then said Caleb, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and captureth it, I will give unto him Achsah, my daughter, to wife.

Kalebu akasema, “Mtu atakayeishambulia Kiriathi Seferi na kuiteka, nitampa binti yangau, Akisa, awe mke wake.

17 And Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, captured it, —so he gave unto him Achsah, his daughter, to wife.

Wakati huo Othinieli mwana wa Kenazi, kaka yake na Kalebu, aliuteka mji, na Kalebu alimpatia Akisa, binti yake awe mke wake.

18 And it came to pass, when she came, that she moved him to ask of her father a field, and, when she alighted from off the ass, Caleb said unto her—What aileth thee?

Mara baada ya hayo, Akisa alienda kwa Othinieli na alimsihi amwombe baba yake shamba. Na mara aliposhuka kutoka katika punda wake, Kalebu alimwambia Akisa, “Unataka nini?”

19 And she said—Give me a present, for, dry land, hast thou given me, therefore must thou give me, pools of water. So he gave her upper pools and lower pools.

Akisa akamjibu, “Nifanyie neema. Kwa kuwa umeshanipa nchi ya Negevu, nipe pia baadhi ya chemichemi za maji.” Na Kalebu alimpa chemichemi ya juu na chemichemi ya chini.

20 This, is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families.

Huu ulikuwa ndio urithi wa kabila la Yuda, waliopewa kufuatana na koo zao.

21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the sons of Judah, towards the boundary of Edom in the south, were, —Kabzeel and Eder, and Jagur,

Miji iliyo mali ya kabila la Yuda katika upande wa kusini, kuelekea mpaka wa Edomu, ilikuwa ni Kabzeeli, Eda, Yaguri,

22 and Kinah and Dimonah, and Adadah, —

Kina, Dimona, Adada,

23 and Kedesh and Hazor, and Ithnan,

Kadeshi, Hazor, Ithinani,

24 Ziph and Talem, and Bealoth,

Zifu, Telemu, Bealothi.

25 and Hazor-hadattah and Kerioth-hezron, the same, is Hazor;

Hazori Hadata, Keriothi Hezroni (mji huu ulijulikana kama Hazori),

26 Amam and Shema, and Moladah,

Amamu, shema, Molada,

27 and Hazar-gaddah and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet.

Hazari Gada, Heshimoni, Bethi Peleti,

28 and Hazarshual and Beer-sheba, with the hamlets thereof,

Hazari Shuali, Beerisheba, Biziothia.

29 Baalah and Iyyim, and Ezem,

Baala, Limu, Ezemu,

30 and Eltolad and Chesil, and Hormah,

Eltoladi, Kesili, Horma,

31 and Ziklag and Madmannah, and Sansannah,

Ziklagi, Madimana, Sansana,

32 and Lebaoth and Shilhim, and En-rimmon, —all the cities are twenty-nine, with their villages.

Lebaothi, Shilihimu, Aini, na Rimoni. Miji hii ilikuwa ishirini na tisa kwa ujumla, kujumlisha na vijiji vyake.

33 In the lowland, —Eshtaol and Zorah, and Ashnah,

34 and Zanoah and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;

Zanaoa, Eni Ganimu, Tapua, Enamu,

35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;

Yarmuthi, Adulamu, Soko, Azeka,

36 and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim, —fourteen cities, with their villages.

Shaaraimu, Adithaimu, na Gedera ( ambayo ndio Gederothaimu). Hesabu ya miji hii ilikuwa ni kumi na nne, pamoja na vijiji vyao.

37 Zenan and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

Zena, Hadasha, Migidagadi,

38 and Dilan and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

Dileani, Mizipa, Yokitheeli,

39 Lachish and Bozkath, and Eglon,

Lakishi, Bozikathi, Egloni.

40 and Cabbon and Lahmas, and Chithlish,

Kaboni, Lahmamu, Kitilishi,

41 and Gederoth, Beth-dagon and Naamah, and Makkedah, —sixteen cities, with their villages.

Gederothi, Bethi Dagoni, Naama, Makeda. Hesabu ya miji hii ilikuwa kumi na sita, kujumlisha na vijiji vyao.

42 Libnah and Ether, and Ashan,

Libna, Etheri, Ashani,

43 and Iphtah and Ashnah, and Nezib,

Ifuta, Ashina, Nezibu,

44 and Keilah and Achzib, and Mareshah, —nine cities, with their villages.

Keila, Akizibu, na Maresha. Hii ilikuwa ni miji tisa, kujumlisha na vijiji vyao.

45 Ekron with her towns, and her villages.

Ekroni, pamoja na miji na vijiji vyake vinavyoizunguka;

46 From Ekron, even unto the sea, —all that were by the side of Ashdod with their villages.

kutoka Ekroni kuelekea Bahari Kuu, makazi yote ambayo yalikuwa karibu na Ashidodi, pamoja na vijiji vyake.

47 Ashdod, her towns and her villages. Gaza, her towns and her villages, as far as the ravine of Egypt, —and the great sea and coast.

Ashidodi, na miji na vijiji vyake vinavyoizunguka; Gaza na miji na vijiji vyake vinavyoizunguka; hata kufika kijito cha Misri, na kuelekea Bahari Kuu pamoja na ukanda wake wa pwani.

48 And in the hill-country, —Shamir and Jattir, and Socoh,

Katika nchi ya milima, kuna miji ya Shamiri, Yatiri, Soko,

49 and Dannah and Kiriath-sannah, the same, is Debir,

Dana, Kiriathi Sana (ambayo ndio Debiri),

50 and Anab and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

Anabu, Eshitemo, Animu,

51 and Goshen and Holon, and Giloh, —eleven cities, with their villages.

Gosheni, Holoni, na Gilo. Hii ilikuwa ni miji kumi na moja, kujumuisha na vijiji vyake.

52 Arab and Rumah and Eshan,

Arabu, Duma, Ehani,

53 and Janim and Beth-tappuah and Aphekah,

Yanimu, Bethi Tapua, Afeka,

54 and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron, and Zior, —nine cities, with their villages.

Humta, Kiriathi Arba (ambayo ndio Hebroni), na Ziori. Hii ilikuwa miji tisa, pamoja na vijiji vyake.

55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph and Jutah,

Maoni, Karmeli, Zifu, Yuta,

56 and Jezreel and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

Yezreeli, Yokdeamu, Zanoa,

57 Kain, Gibeah and Timnah, —ten cities, with their villages.

Kaini, Gibea, na Timna. Hii ilikuwa ni miji kumi, kujumuisha na vijiji vyake.

58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

Halhuli, Bethi Zuri, Gedori,

59 and Maarath and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon, —six cities, with their villages.

Maarathi, Bethi Anothi, na Elitekoni. Hii ilikuwa miji sita, pamoja na vijiji vyake.

60 Kiriath-baal, the same, is Kiriath-jearim, and Rabbah, —two cities, with their villages.

61 In the desert, —Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

Katika nyika, kulikuwa na miji ya Bethi Araba, Midini, Sekaka,

62 and Nibshan and the City of Salt, and En-gedi, —six cities, with their villages.

Nibushani, mji wa chumvi, na Eni Gedi. Hii ilikuwa miji, pamoja na vijiji vyao.

63 But, as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not dispossess them, —so the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Judah, in Jerusalem, until this day.

Lakini kwa Wayebusi, wenyeji wa Yerusalemu, kabila la Yuda halikuweza kuwafukuza, na hivyo, Wayebusi wanaishi pamoja na kabila la Yuda hadi leo hii.
