Joshua 15
1 So then the boundary of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families, —reached unto the boundary of Edom, the desert of Zin southward, on the extreme south;
La part échue par le sort à la tribu des enfants de Juda, selon leurs familles, s’étendait vers la frontière d’Edom, jusqu’au désert de Sin vers le midi, à l’extrémité méridionale de Chanaan.
2 so their south boundary beginneth at the end of the Salt Sea, —from the bay that turneth to the south;
Leur frontière du midi partait de l’extrémité de la mer Salée, de la langue tournée vers le sud;
3 and goeth forth on the south of the cliffs of Akrabbim, and crosseth over to Zin, and goeth up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, —and passeth over by Hezron, and goeth up to Addar, and turneth round to Karka;
elle se prolongeait au midi de la montée d’Akrabbim, passait à Sin et montait au midi de Cadès-Barné; de là, elle passait à Esron, montait vers Addar et tournait à Carcaa;
4 and passeth over to Azmon, and goeth forth at the ravine of Egypt, and so the extensions of the boundary are to the sea. This, shall be your south boundary.
elle passait ensuite à Asmon et continuait jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte; et la frontière aboutissait à la mer. « Ce sera votre frontière au midi. »
5 And, a boundary eastward, is the Salt Sea, as far as the end of the Jordan. And, the boundary on the north side, is from the bay of the sea, from the end of the Jordan.
La frontière orientale fut la mer Salée jusqu’à l’embouchure du Jourdain. La frontière septentrionale partait de la langue de la mer Salée qui est à l’embouchure du Jourdain.
6 And the boundary goeth up Beth-hoglah, and passeth over, on the north, by Beth-arabah, —and the boundary goeth up by the Stone of Bohan, son of Reuben;
La frontière montait vers Beth-Agla, passait au nord de Beth-Araba, et la frontière montait jusqu’à la pierre de Boën, fils de Ruben;
7 and the boundary goeth up towards Debir, out of the vale of Achor, then northward, turning unto Gilgal, which is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the ravine, —then the boundary passeth over unto the waters of En-shemesh, and so the extensions thereof are unto En-rogel:
et la frontière montait à Débéra à partir de la vallée d’Achor, et tournait vers le nord du côté de Galgala, qui est vis-à-vis de la montagne d’Adommim, au sud du torrent. Et la frontière passait près des eaux d’En-Sémès et aboutissait à En-Rogel.
8 then ascendeth the boundary by the valley of the son of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite, on the south, the same, is Jerusalem, —and the boundary goeth up unto the top of the mountain which faceth the valley of Hinnom, to the west, which is at the end of the Vale of Giants, northwards;
Et la frontière montait par la vallée de Ben-Ennom, jusqu’au versant méridional de la montagne des Jébuséens, qui est Jérusalem; et la frontière s’élevait ensuite jusqu’au sommet de la montagne qui est vis-à-vis de la vallée d’Ennom à l’occident, et à l’extrémité de la plaine des Rephaïm au nord.
9 and the boundary turneth round, from the top of the mountain, unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and goeth out unto the cities of Mount Ephron, —then the boundary turneth round to Baalah, the same, is Kiriath-jearim;
Du sommet de la montagne, la frontière s’étendait jusqu’à la source des eaux de Nephtoa, aboutissait vers les villes de la montagne d’Ephron; et la frontière s’étendait vers Baala, qui est Cariath-Jéarim.
10 then the boundary goeth round from Baalah westward, unto Mount Seir, and passeth over unto the slope of Mount Yearim, on the north, the same, is Chesalon, —and descendeth Bethshemesh, and passeth over Timnah;
De Baala, la frontière tournait à l’occident vers le mont Séïr, passait par le versant septentrional du mont Jarim, qui est Cheslon, descendait à Bethsamès et passait par Thamma.
11 then the boundary goeth forth unto the side of Ekron, northward, then the boundary turneth round towards Shikkeron, and crosseth over Mount Baalah, and goeth out at Jabneel, —and the extensions of the boundary are to the sea.
La frontière aboutissait au versant septentrional d’Accaron; et la frontière s’étendait vers Sécrona, passait par le mont Baala, et aboutissait à Jebnéel; et la frontière aboutissait à la mer.
12 And, as a west boundary, are the great sea and coast. This, is the boundary of the sons of Judah, round about, by their families.
La limite occidentale était la Grande mer et son territoire. Telles furent de tous côtés les frontières des fils de Juda, selon leurs familles.
13 And, to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, gave he a portion, in the midst of the sons of Judah, at the bidding of Yahweh, by Joshua, —even the City of Arba, father of Anak, the same, is Hebron.
On avait donné à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, une part au milieu des fils de Juda, comme Yahweh l’avait ordonné à Josué, savoir la ville d’Arbé, père d’Enac: c’est Hébron,
14 And Caleb dispossessed from thence, the three sons of Anak, —Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.
Caleb en chassa les trois fils d’Enac, Sésaï, Ahiman et Tholmaï, descendants d’Enac.
15 And he went up from thence, against the inhabitants of Debir, —now, the name of Debir, formerly, was Kiriath-sepher.
De là il monta contre les habitants de Dabir, qui s’appelait autrefois Cariath-Sépher.
16 Then said Caleb, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and captureth it, I will give unto him Achsah, my daughter, to wife.
Caleb dit: « À celui qui battra Cariath-Sépher et qui la prendra, je donnerai pour femme ma fille Axa. »
17 And Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, captured it, —so he gave unto him Achsah, his daughter, to wife.
Othoniel, fils de Cénez, frère de Caleb, s’en empara, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Axa pour femme.
18 And it came to pass, when she came, that she moved him to ask of her father a field, and, when she alighted from off the ass, Caleb said unto her—What aileth thee?
Lorsqu’elle alla chez Othoniel, elle l’excita à demander à son père un champ. Elle descendit de dessus son âne, et Caleb lui dit: « Qu’as-tu? »
19 And she said—Give me a present, for, dry land, hast thou given me, therefore must thou give me, pools of water. So he gave her upper pools and lower pools.
Elle répondit: « Fais-moi un présent, car tu m’as établie dans le pays sec; donne-moi aussi des sources d’eau. » Et il lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.
20 This, is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families.
Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils de Juda, selon leurs familles.
21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the sons of Judah, towards the boundary of Edom in the south, were, —Kabzeel and Eder, and Jagur,
Les villes situées à l’extrémité de la tribu des enfants de Juda, vers la frontière d’Edom, dans le Négeb, étaient: Cabséel, Eder, Jagur,
22 and Kinah and Dimonah, and Adadah, —
Cina, Dimona, Adada,
23 and Kedesh and Hazor, and Ithnan,
Cadès, Asor et Jethnam;
24 Ziph and Talem, and Bealoth,
Ziph, Télem, Baloth,
25 and Hazor-hadattah and Kerioth-hezron, the same, is Hazor;
Asor-la-Neuve et Carioth-Hesron, qui est Asor;
26 Amam and Shema, and Moladah,
Amam, Sama, Molada,
27 and Hazar-gaddah and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet.
Asergadda, Hassemon, Bethphélet,
28 and Hazarshual and Beer-sheba, with the hamlets thereof,
Hasersual, Bersabée et Baziothia;
29 Baalah and Iyyim, and Ezem,
Baala, Jim, Esem,
30 and Eltolad and Chesil, and Hormah,
Eltholad, Césil, Harma,
31 and Ziklag and Madmannah, and Sansannah,
Siceleg, Médémena, Sensenna,
32 and Lebaoth and Shilhim, and En-rimmon, —all the cities are twenty-nine, with their villages.
Lebaoth, Sélim, Aen et Rémon: en tout vingt neuf villes et leurs villages.
33 In the lowland, —Eshtaol and Zorah, and Ashnah,
Dans la Séphéla: Estaol, Saréa, Asena,
34 and Zanoah and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;
Zanoé, Aen-Gannim, Taphua, Enaïm,
35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;
Jérimoth, Odollam, Socho, Azéca,
36 and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim, —fourteen cities, with their villages.
Saraïm, Adithaïm, Gédéra et Gédérothaïm: quatorze villes et leurs villages.
37 Zenan and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,
Sanan, Hadassa, Magdal-Gad,
38 and Dilan and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,
Déléan, Masépha, Jecthel,
39 Lachish and Bozkath, and Eglon,
Lachis, Bascath, Eglon,
40 and Cabbon and Lahmas, and Chithlish,
Chebbon, Léhéman, Cethlis,
41 and Gederoth, Beth-dagon and Naamah, and Makkedah, —sixteen cities, with their villages.
Gideroth, Beth-Dagon, Naama et Macéda: seize ville et leurs villages.
42 Libnah and Ether, and Ashan,
Labana, Ether, Asan,
43 and Iphtah and Ashnah, and Nezib,
Jephtha, Esna, Nésib,
44 and Keilah and Achzib, and Mareshah, —nine cities, with their villages.
Céïla, Achzib et Marésa: neuf villes et leurs villages.
45 Ekron with her towns, and her villages.
Accaron, avec les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages.
46 From Ekron, even unto the sea, —all that were by the side of Ashdod with their villages.
À partir d’Accaron, du côté de l’occident, toutes les villes près d’Azoth et leurs villages;
47 Ashdod, her towns and her villages. Gaza, her towns and her villages, as far as the ravine of Egypt, —and the great sea and coast.
Azoth, les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages; Gaza, les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages, jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte et à la Grande mer, qui est la limite.
48 And in the hill-country, —Shamir and Jattir, and Socoh,

49 and Dannah and Kiriath-sannah, the same, is Debir,
Danna, Cariath-Senna, qui est Dabir,
50 and Anab and Eshtemoh, and Anim,
Anab, Istémo, Anim,
51 and Goshen and Holon, and Giloh, —eleven cities, with their villages.
Gosen, Olon et Gilo: onze villes et leurs villages.
52 Arab and Rumah and Eshan,
Arab, Duma, Esaan,
53 and Janim and Beth-tappuah and Aphekah,
Janum, Beth-Thaphua, Aphéca,
54 and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron, and Zior, —nine cities, with their villages.
Athmatha, Cariath-Arbé, qui est Hébron, et Sior: neuf villes et leurs villages.
55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph and Jutah,
Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Jota,
56 and Jezreel and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,
Jezraël, Jucadam, Zanoé,
57 Kain, Gibeah and Timnah, —ten cities, with their villages.
Accaïn, Gabaa, Thamma: dix villes et leurs villages.
58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,
Halhul, Bessur, Gédor,
59 and Maarath and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon, —six cities, with their villages.
Mareth, Beth-Anoth et Eltécon: six villes, et leurs villages.
60 Kiriath-baal, the same, is Kiriath-jearim, and Rabbah, —two cities, with their villages.
Cariath-Baal, qui est Cariath-Jéarim, et Arebba: deux villes et leurs villages.
61 In the desert, —Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,
Dans le désert: Beth-Araba, Meddin, Sachacha,
62 and Nibshan and the City of Salt, and En-gedi, —six cities, with their villages.
Nebsan, Ir-Hammélach et En-Gaddi: six villes et leurs villages.
63 But, as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not dispossess them, —so the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Judah, in Jerusalem, until this day.
Les fils de Juda ne purent pas chasser les Jébuséens qui habitent à Jérusalem, et les Jébuséens ont habité à Jérusalem avec les fils de Juda jusqu’à ce jour.
