Joshua 11
1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard, that he sent unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph;
Als nun Jabin, der König von Hazor, davon hörte, sandte er Botschaft an Jobab, den König von Madon, sowie an den König von Simron, den König von Achsaph
2 and unto the kings who were on the north in the hill country and in the waste plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, —and in the heights of Dor, on the west:
und an die Könige, die imm Norden wohnten, im Berglande, sowie in der Steppe südlich von Kinneroth, in der Niederung und auf den Höhen von Dor am Meere,
3 the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite and the Jebusite, in the hill country, —and the Hivite, under Hermon, in the land of Mizpah;
die Kanaaniter im Osten und Westen, die Amoriter, Hethiter, Pheresiter und Jebusiter auf dem Gebirge und die heviter am Fuße des Hermon im Lande Mizpa.
4 and they came out—they, and all their hosts with them, much people, like the sand that is upon the seashore for multitude, —with horses and chariots very many.
Die zogen aus mit ihrem gesamten Kriegsheer, eine Volksmenge, so zahlreich, wie der Sand am Ufer des Meeres, und mit sehr vielen Rossen und Streitwagen.
5 And, when all these kings were gathered together, they came in, and encamped as one man, at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
Und alle jene Könige trafen miteinander Verabredung, zogen hin und lagerten sich miteinander am Gewässer Merom, um den Israeliten eine Schlacht zu liefern.
6 Then said Yahweh unto Joshua—Do not fear because of them, for, to-morrow, about this time, am I going to deliver up all of them, slain, before Israel, —their horses, shalt thou ham-string, and, their chariots, shalt thou burn up with fire.
Da sprach Jahwe zu Josua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn ich werde es fügen, daß sie morgen um diese Zeit alle erschlagen vor den Israeliten daliegen: ihre Rosse sollst du lähmen und ihre Streitwagen verbrennen.
7 So Joshua, and all the army with him, came in upon them, by the waters of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them.
Da geriet Josua mit seiner ganzen Streitmacht beim Gewässer Merom unversehens über sie, und sie warfen sich auf sie.
8 And Yahweh delivered them up into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them as far as great Zidon, and as far as Misrephoth-maim, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh, eastward, —yea they smote them until they left them not a survivor.
Jahwe aber gab sie in die gewalt der Israeliten, und sie schlugen sie und verfolgten sie bis Sidon, der großen Stadt, und bis Misrephot Majim und bis in die Thalebene von Mizpe im Osten, und sie schlugen sie, so daß keiner von ihnen entrann.
9 And Joshua did unto them, as Yahweh had said unto him, —their horses, he ham-strung, and, their chariots, burned he up with fire.
Josua aber verfuhr mit ihnen, wie ihm Jahwe geboten hatte: ihre Rosse lähmte er und verbrannte ihre Streitwagen.
10 Then Joshua turned back, at that time, and captured Hazor, and, the king thereof, smote he with the sword, —for, Hazor, aforetime, was the head of all these kingdoms.
Zu jener Zeit machte Josua kehrt und nahm Hazor ein und ließ dessen König töten; Hazor war nämlich vormals die Hauptstadt aller jener Königreiche.
11 And they smote all the souls that were therein, with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, there was left no breathing thing, —and, Hazor, burned he up with fire.
Und sie erschlugen alle Menschen, die darin waren, indem sie den Bann an ihnen vollstreckten; kein lebendes Wesen blieb übrig, und Hazor ließ er verbrennen.
12 And, all the cities of these kings, and all the kings thereof, did Joshua capture, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, —as Moses, the servant of Yahweh, commanded.
Und alle Städte jener Könige nebst allen ihren Königen bekam Josua in seine Gewalt und brachte sie um und vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen, wie Mose der Knecht Jahwes befohlen hatte.
13 Yet, none of the cities that were still standing upon their mound, did Israel burn, none but Hazor alone, did Joshua burn.
Nur alle die Ortschaften, die auf Erhöhungen angelegt waren, brannten die Israeliten nicht nieder; mit einziger Ausnahme von Hazor, das Josua niederbrennen ließ.
14 But, all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, did the sons of Israel take as their prey, —nevertheless, all the human beings, smote they with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, they left remaining no breathing thing.
Und alle Beute aus jenen Ortschaften, sowie das Vieh, nahmen die Israeliten für sich; dagegen alle Menschen erschlugen sie und rotteten sie aus, indem sie niemanden am Leben ließen.
15 As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so, Moses commanded Joshua, and, so, Joshua, did, he set aside nothing of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.
So wie Jahwe seinem Knechte Mose befohlen, so hatte Mose Josua befohlen, und so verfuhr Josua, ohne irgend etwas von dem, was Jahwe Mose befohlen hatte, zu unterlassen.
16 So Joshua took all this land—the hill country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the waste plain, —and the hill country of Israel, and the lowland thereof:
Und Josua nahm dieses ganze Land ein, das Bergland, das ganze Südland, das ganze Land Gosen, die Niederung und die Steppe, sowie das Bergland von Israel und die dazu gehörende Niederung,
17 from Mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even as far as Baal-gad, in the valley of the Lebanon, under Mount Hermon, —and, all their kings, he captured, and smote them, and put them to death.
vom glatten Gebirge an, das gegen Seir ansteigt, bis nach Baal Gad im Thale des Libanon am Fuße des Hermon; und alle seine Könige bekam er in seine Gewalt und er schlug sie und tötete sie.
18 Many days, did Joshua, with all these kings, make war.
Lange Zeit hindurch führte Josua mit jenen Königen Krieg.
19 There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, save the Hivites dwelling in Gibeon, —the whole, took they in battle.
Es gab keine Stadt, die sich den Israeliten friedlich unterwarf, ausgenommen die der Heviter, der Bewohner von Gibeon; alles eroberten sie mit Waffengewalt.
20 For, from Yahweh, came it to pass, that their heart was emboldened to come out to war with Israel, that he might devote them to destruction, that they might find no favour, —but that he might destroy them, —as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Denn von Jahwe war es so gefügt, daß er ihren Sinn verhärtete, so daß sie sich auf den Krieg mit Israel einließen, damit man ohne Gnade den Bann an ihnen vollstrecken und sie ausrotten könne, wie Jahwe Mose befohlen hatte.
21 And Joshua came in, at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country—from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel, —with their cities, did Joshua devote them to destruction.
Zu jener zeit zog Josua aus und rottete die Enakiter aus vom Gebirge, von Hebron, Dbir und Anab, vom ganzen Gebirge von Juda und dem ganzen Gebirge von Israel; und Josua vollstreckte an ihnen sowie an ihren Städten den Bann.
22 There was left remaining none of the Anakim, in the land of the sons of Israel, —save only, in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.
Es blieben keine Enakiter im Gebiete der Israeliten übrig; bloß in Gaza, Gath und Asdod hielten sich Reste derselben.
23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel, according to their portions by their tribes, —and, the land, had rest from war.
Und Josua nahm das ganze Land ein, ganz so, wie Jahwe es Mose geboten hatte, und gab es den Israeliten entsprechend ihren Abteilungen, nach ihren Stämmen, zum Erbbesitz, und das Land bekam Ruhe vom Kriege.
