John 3
1 There was however, a man from among the Pharisees, Nicodemus, his name, —ruler of the Jews.
യെഹൂദരുടെ ഭരണസമിതിയിൽ നിക്കോദേമൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു പരീശൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
2 The same, came unto him, by night, and said unto him—Rabbi! we know that, from God, thou hast come, a teacher; for, no one, can be doing, these signs, which, thou, art doing, except, God, be with him.
അദ്ദേഹം രാത്രിയിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, “റബ്ബീ, അങ്ങു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് വന്ന ഒരു ആചാര്യനാണ് എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു. ദൈവം കൂടെയില്ലെങ്കിൽ അങ്ങു ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാൻ ആർക്കും സാധ്യമല്ല.”
3 Jesus answered, and said unto him—Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except one be born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
“ഞാൻ താങ്കളോട് സത്യം സത്യമായി പറയട്ടെ: വീണ്ടും ജനിച്ചില്ല എങ്കിൽ ദൈവരാജ്യം കാണാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിയുകയില്ല” യേശു പ്രതിവചിച്ചു.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him—How, can a man be born, when he is, old? Can he, into the womb of his mother, a second time, enter, and be born?
“പ്രായമായശേഷം ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ജനിക്കുന്നത് എങ്ങനെ? രണ്ടാമതും മാതാവിന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചു ജനിക്കുക സാധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ!” നിക്കോദേമൊസ് ചോദിച്ചു.
5 Jesus answered—Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except one be born of water and spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോട് സത്യം സത്യമായി പറയട്ടെ, വെള്ളത്തിൽനിന്നും ആത്മാവിൽനിന്നും ജനിച്ചില്ലെങ്കിൽ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിയുകയില്ല.
6 That which hath been born of the flesh, is, flesh, and, that which hath been born of the spirit, is, spirit.
ഭൗതികജനനം ശാരീരികമായി സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; ആത്മികജനനം ആത്മാവിലൂടെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നു.
7 Do not marvel, that I said unto thee: Ye must needs be born from above.
‘നിങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും ജനിക്കണം,’ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞതിൽ നീ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടേണ്ടതില്ല.
8 The spirit, where it pleaseth, doth breathe, and, the sound thereof, thou hearest; but knowest not, whence it cometh and whither it goeth: Thus, is every one who hath been born of the spirit.
കാറ്റ് ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കു വീശുന്നു. അതിന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അത് എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നെന്നോ എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നെന്നോ അറിയുന്നില്ല. ആത്മാവിൽനിന്നു ജനിച്ച ഏതൊരു വ്യക്തിയും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ.”
9 Nicodemus answered, and said unto him—How, can these things, come about?
“ഇത് എങ്ങനെ സാധ്യമാകും?” നിക്കോദേമൊസ് ചോദിച്ചു.
10 Jesus answered, and said unto him—Art, thou, the teacher of Israel, and, these things, knowest not?
അതിന് യേശു, “നീ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായിരുന്നിട്ടും ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee: What we know, we speak, and, of what we have seen, we bear witness, and, our witness, ye receive not.
സത്യം സത്യമായി ഞാൻ താങ്കളോട് പറയട്ടെ: ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നതിനെപ്പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുകയും, കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിനെപ്പറ്റി സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു, എന്നിട്ടും ഞങ്ങളുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം നിങ്ങൾ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നില്ല.
12 If, the earthly things, I told you, and ye believe not, How, if I should tell you the heavenly things, will ye believe?
ലൗകികകാര്യങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ സ്വർഗീയകാര്യങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞാൽ എങ്ങനെ വിശ്വസിക്കും?
13 And, no one, hath ascended into heaven, save he that, out of heaven, descended, —The Son of Man.
സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ ഒഴികെ മറ്റാരും സ്വർഗത്തിൽ കയറിപ്പോയിട്ടില്ല.
14 And, just as, Moses, lifted up the serpent in the desert, so, must, the Son of Man, be lifted up, —
മോശ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ സർപ്പത്തെ ഉയർത്തിയതുപോലെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനും ഉയർത്തപ്പെടേണ്ടതാണ്;
അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏതു വ്യക്തിയും നിത്യജീവൻ പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിനു വേണ്ടിയാണിത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. (aiōnios g166)
16 For God, so loved, the world, that, his Only Begotten Son, he gave, —that, whosoever believeth on him, might not perish, but have life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിസ്തുലപുത്രനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വ്യക്തിയും നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ നിത്യജീവൻ അവകാശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവിടത്തെ പുത്രനെ യാഗമായി അർപ്പിക്കുന്നത്ര ദൈവം ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God, sent not, his Son into the world, that he might judge the world, but, that the world might be saved through him.
ദൈവം അവിടത്തെ പുത്രനെ ലോകത്തിലേക്കയച്ചത് ലോകത്തെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കാനല്ല, തന്നിലൂടെ ലോകത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കാനാണ്.
18 He that believeth on him, is not to be judged: he that believeth not, already, hath been judged, —because he hath not believed on the name of the Only Begotten Son of God.
അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ആർക്കും ശിക്ഷാവിധി ഇല്ല; എന്നാൽ വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവർക്കോ, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിസ്തുലപുത്രന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തതുകൊണ്ട്, ശിക്ഷാവിധി വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു.
19 And, this, is the judgment: That, the light, hath come into the world, —and men loved, rather the darkness than the light, for, wicked, were their, works.
പ്രകാശം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നിട്ടും മനുഷ്യരുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിറഞ്ഞ പ്രവൃത്തി കാരണം അവർ പ്രകാശത്തിനു പകരം അന്ധകാരത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു എന്നതാണ് ശിക്ഷാവിധിക്ക് അടിസ്ഥാനം.
20 For, whosoever doth practise corrupt things, hateth the light, and cometh not unto the light, lest his works should be reproved;
തിന്മചെയ്യുന്ന ഏതൊരാളും പ്രകാശത്തെ വെറുക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ പരസ്യമാകും എന്ന ഭയംനിമിത്തം പ്രകാശത്തിലേക്കു വരുന്നതുമില്ല.
21 But, he that doeth the truth, cometh unto the light, that his works may be, made manifest, that, in God, have they been wrought.
എന്നാൽ സത്യമനുസരിച്ചു ജീവിക്കുന്നവർ, തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദൈവംമുഖേനയാണ് ചെയ്തതെന്നു വെളിപ്പെടാൻ പ്രകാശത്തിലേക്കു വരുന്നു.
22 After these things, came Jesus, and his disciples, into the Judaean land; and, there, was he tarrying with them, and immersing.
പിന്നീട് യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തെത്തി, അവരോടുകൂടെ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
23 And John also was immersing in Aenon, near to him, because, many waters, were there; and they were coming, and being immersed; —
യോഹന്നാൻ ശലേമിനടുത്തുള്ള ഐനോനിലും സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുപോന്നു; കാരണം അവിടെ വെള്ളം ധാരാളമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ജനങ്ങൾ സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
24 for, not yet, had John been cast into prison.
യോഹന്നാൻ തടവിലാകുന്നതിനുമുമ്പാണ് ഇതു നടന്നത്.
25 There arose, therefore, a questioning, from among the disciples of John, with a Jew, —concerning purification.
ആചാരപരമായ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തെപ്പറ്റി യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ചിലർക്ക് ഒരു യെഹൂദനുമായി തർക്കം ഉണ്ടായി.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him—Rabbi! he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, unto whom, thou, hast borne witness, see! the same, is immersing; and, all, are coming unto him.
അവർ യോഹന്നാന്റെ അരികിൽ വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് “റബ്ബീ, യോർദാന്റെ അക്കരെ അങ്ങയോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആ മനുഷ്യൻ—അങ്ങു സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയ ആൾ—സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു: എല്ലാവരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകുന്നു.” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 John answered, and said—A man can receive, nothing, except it have been given him out of heaven.
അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യോഹന്നാൻ: “സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് നൽകാതെ യാതൊന്നും മനുഷ്യനു സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല.
28 Ye yourselves, unto me, bear witness, that, I, said—I, am not the Christ; but—I am sent before, That One.
‘ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു മുൻഗാമിയായി അയയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻമാത്രമാണെന്നും,’ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ളതിനു നിങ്ങൾ സാക്ഷികളാണല്ലോ.
29 He that hath the bride, is, bridegroom; but, the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth by and hearkeneth unto him, greatly, rejoiceth, by reason of the voice of the bridegroom. This, my joy, therefore, is fulfilled.
മണവാട്ടിയുള്ളവനാണ് മണവാളൻ. മണവാളന്റെ തോഴനോ, മണവാളന്റെ കൂടെ നിന്ന്, അവന്റെ സ്വരം കേട്ട് അത്യധികം ആഹ്ലാദിക്കുന്നു. ആ ആനന്ദമാണ് എനിക്കുള്ളത്; ഇപ്പോൾ അതു പൂർണമായിരിക്കുന്നു.
30 That One, it behoveth to increase, —but, me, to decrease.
അവിടത്തെ പ്രാമുഖ്യം വർധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കണം; എന്റെ പ്രാമുഖ്യമോ കുറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കണം.
31 He that, from above, doth come, over all, is: he that is of the earth, of the earth, is, and, of the earth, doth speak: he that, out of heaven, doth come, over all, is,
“ഉന്നതത്തിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവൻ എല്ലാവരിലും ഉന്നതനാകുന്നു; ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നുള്ളവനോ ഭൗമികനാകുന്നു; അയാൾ ഭൗമികമായതു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു. സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവൻ എല്ലാവരിലും ഉന്നതനാകുന്നു.
32 What he hath seen and heard, of, the same, he beareth witness, —and, his witness, no one, receiveth: —
താൻ കണ്ടതും കേട്ടതുമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾക്ക് അയാൾ സാക്ഷ്യംവഹിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അയാളുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം ആരും സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.
33 He that hath received his witness, hath set seal—that, God, is, true.
ആ സാക്ഷ്യം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനോ ദൈവം സത്യവാൻ എന്നതു സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കുന്നു.
34 For, he whom God hath sent, the sayings of God, doth speak; for, not by measure, giveth he the Spirit.
കാരണം, ദൈവം അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് ആത്മാവിനെ അളവില്ലാതെ നൽകുന്നല്ലോ.
35 The Father, loveth the Son, and, all things, hath given into his hand.
പിതാവു പുത്രനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; സകലതും അവന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
36 He that believeth on the Son, hath life age-abiding: whereas, he that yieldeth not unto the Son, shall not see life, —but, the anger of God, awaiteth him. (aiōnios g166)
പുത്രനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് നിത്യജീവനുണ്ട്; പുത്രനെ അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരോ ജീവനെ കാണുകയില്ലെന്നുമാത്രമല്ല; ദൈവക്രോധം അവരുടെമേൽ നിലനിൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.” (aiōnios g166)
