John 11
1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister.
อนนฺตรํ มริยมฺ ตสฺยา ภคินี มรฺถา จ ยสฺมินฺ ไวถนียาคฺราเม วสตสฺตสฺมินฺ คฺราเม อิลิยาสรฺ นามา ปีฑิต เอก อาสีตฺฯ
2 And Mary was she who anointed the Lord with perfume, and wiped his feet with her hair—whose brother Lazarus was sick.
ยา มริยมฺ ปฺรภุํ สุคนฺธิเตไลน มรฺทฺทยิตฺวา สฺวเกไศสฺตสฺย จรเณา สมมารฺชตฺ ตสฺยา ภฺราตา ส อิลิยาสรฺ โรคีฯ
3 The sisters, therefore, sent out unto him, saying—Lord, see! he whom thou tenderly lovest, is sick.
อปรญฺจ เห ปฺรโภ ภวานฺ ยสฺมินฺ ปฺรียเต ส เอว ปีฑิโตสฺตีติ กถำ กถยิตฺวา ตสฺย ภคิเนฺยา เปฺรษิตวเตฺยาฯ
4 But Jesus hearing, said—This sickness, is not unto death, but for the glory of God, —that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.
ตทา ยีศุริมำ วารฺตฺตำ ศฺรุตฺวากถยต ปีเฑยํ มรณารฺถํ น กินฺตฺวีศฺวรสฺย มหิมารฺถมฺ อีศฺวรปุตฺรสฺย มหิมปฺรกาศารฺถญฺจ ชาตาฯ
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
ยีศุ รฺยทฺยปิมรฺถายำ ตทฺภคินฺยามฺ อิลิยาสริ จาปฺรียต,
6 When, therefore, he heard that he was sick, then, indeed, he abode in the place where he was, two days.
ตถาปิ อิลิยาสร: ปีฑายา: กถํ ศฺรุตฺวา ยตฺร อาสีตฺ ตไตฺรว ทินทฺวยมติษฺฐตฺฯ
7 Then, after this, he saith unto the disciples—Let us be leading on into Judaea, again.
ตต: ปรมฺ ส ศิษฺยานกถยทฺ วยํ ปุน รฺยิหูทียปฺรเทศํ ยาม: ฯ
8 The disciples say unto him—Rabbi! just now, were the Jews seeking to stone thee—and, again, goest thou thither?
ตตเสฺต ปฺรตฺยวทนฺ, เห คุโร สฺวลฺปทินานิ คตานิ ยิหูทียาสฺตฺวำ ปาษาไณ รฺหนฺตุมฺ อุทฺยตาสฺตถาปิ กึ ปุนสฺตตฺร ยาสฺยสิ?
9 Jesus answered—Are there not, twelve hours, in the day? If one walk in the day, he doth no stumble, because, the light of this world, he seeth;
ยีศุ: ปฺรตฺยวทตฺ, เอกสฺมินฺ ทิเน กึ ทฺวาทศฆฏิกา น ภวนฺติ? โกปิ ทิวา คจฺฉนฺ น สฺขลติ ยต: ส เอตชฺชคโต ทีปฺตึ ปฺราปฺโนติฯ
10 But, if one walk in the night, he stumbleth, because, the light, is not in him.
กินฺตุ ราเตฺรา คจฺฉนฺ สฺขลติ ยโต เหโตสฺตตฺร ทีปฺติ รฺนาสฺติฯ
11 These things, he said, and, after this, he saith unto them—Lazarus, our dear friend, hath fallen asleep; but I am going, that I may awake him.
อิมำ กถำ กถยิตฺวา ส ตานวททฺ, อสฺมากํ พนฺธุ: อิลิยาสรฺ นิทฺริโตภูทฺ อิทานีํ ตํ นิทฺราโต ชาครยิตุํ คจฺฉามิฯ
12 The disciples, therefore, said unto him—Lord! if he have fallen asleep, he will recover.
ยีศุ รฺมฺฤเตา กถามิมำ กถิตวานฺ กินฺตุ วิศฺรามารฺถํ นิทฺรายำ กถิตวานฺ อิติ ชฺญาตฺวา ศิษฺยา อกถยนฺ,
13 But Jesus had spoken concerning his death; whereas, they, supposed that, concerning the taking of rest in sleep, he had been speaking.
เห คุโร ส ยทิ นิทฺราติ ตรฺหิ ภทฺรเมวฯ
14 Jesus, therefore, then, said unto them, plainly, —Lazarus, died;
ตทา ยีศุ: สฺปษฺฏํ ตานฺ วฺยาหรตฺ, อิลิยาสรฺ อมฺริยต;
15 and I rejoice, for your sake—that ye may believe, —that I was not there; but let us be going unto him.
กินฺตุ ยูยํ ยถา ปฺรตีถ ตทรฺถมหํ ตตฺร น สฺถิตวานฺ อิตฺยสฺมาทฺ ยุษฺมนฺนิมิตฺตมฺ อาหฺลาทิโตหํ, ตถาปิ ตสฺย สมีเป ยามฯ
16 Thomas, therefore, the one called Didymus, said unto his fellow-disciples—Let, us also, be going, that we may die with him.
ตทา โถมา ยํ ทิทุมํ วทนฺติ ส สงฺคิน: ศิษฺยานฺ อวททฺ วยมปิ คตฺวา เตน สารฺทฺธํ มฺริยามไหฯ
17 Jesus, therefore, coming, found that, four days already, had he been in the tomb.
ยีศุสฺตโตฺรปสฺถาย อิลิยาสร: ศฺมศาเน สฺถาปนาตฺ จตฺวาริ ทินานิ คตานีติ วารฺตฺตำ ศฺรุตวานฺฯ
18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;
ไวถนียา ยิรูศาลม: สมีปสฺถา โกฺรไศกมาตฺรานฺตริตา;
19 and, many from among the Jews, had come unto Martha and Mary, that they might console them concerning their brother.
ตสฺมาทฺ พหโว ยิหูทียา มรฺถำ มริยมญฺจ ภฺยาตฺฤโศกาปนฺนำ สานฺตฺวยิตุํ ตโย: สมีปมฺ อาคจฺฉนฺฯ
20 Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him; but, Mary, in the house, remained sitting.
มรฺถา ยีโศราคมนวารฺตำ ศฺรุไตฺวว ตํ สากฺษาทฺ อกโรตฺ กินฺตุ มริยมฺ เคห อุปวิศฺย สฺถิตาฯ
21 Martha, therefore, said unto Jesus—Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;
ตทา มรฺถา ยีศุมวาทตฺ, เห ปฺรโภ ยทิ ภวานฺ อตฺราสฺถาสฺยตฺ ตรฺหิ มม ภฺราตา นามริษฺยตฺฯ
22 And, now, I know, that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God, will give unto thee.
กินฺตฺวิทานีมปิ ยทฺ อีศฺวเร ปฺรารฺถยิษฺยเต อีศฺวรสฺตทฺ ทาสฺยตีติ ชาเน'หํฯ
23 Jesus saith unto her—Thy brother shall rise.
ยีศุรวาทีตฺ ตว ภฺราตา สมุตฺถาสฺยติฯ
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise, in the resurrection, in the last day.
มรฺถา วฺยาหรตฺ เศษทิวเส ส อุตฺถานสมเย โปฺรตฺถาสฺยตีติ ชาเน'หํฯ
25 Jesus said unto her—I, am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, even though he die, shall live again!
ตทา ยีศุ: กถิตวานฺ อหเมว อุตฺถาปยิตา ชีวยิตา จ ย: กศฺจน มยิ วิศฺวสิติ ส มฺฤตฺวาปิ ชีวิษฺยติ;
26 And, no one who liveth again and believeth on me, shall in anywise die, unto times age-abiding. Believest thou this? (aiōn g165)
ย: กศฺจน จ ชีวนฺ มยิ วิศฺวสิติ ส กทาปิ น มริษฺยติ, อสฺยำ กถายำ กึ วิศฺวสิษิ? (aiōn g165)
27 She saith unto him—Yea, Lord! I, have believed, that, thou, art the Christ, the Son of God, —He who, into the world, should come.
สาวทตฺ ปฺรโภ ยสฺยาวตรณาเปกฺษาสฺติ ภวานฺ เสอวาภิษิกฺตฺต อีศฺวรปุตฺร อิติ วิศฺวสิมิฯ
28 And this saying, she went away, and called Mary her sister, secretly, saying—The teacher, is present, and calleth thee.
อิติ กถำ กถยิตฺวา สา คตฺวา สฺวำ ภคินีํ มริยมํ คุปฺตมาหูย วฺยาหรตฺ คุรุรุปติษฺฐติ ตฺวามาหูยติ จฯ
29 And, she, when she heard, was roused up quickly, and was coming unto him.
กถามิมำ ศฺรุตฺวา สา ตูรฺณมฺ อุตฺถาย ตสฺย สมีปมฺ อคจฺฉตฺฯ
30 Not yet, however, had Jesus come into the village, but was still in the place where, Martha, met him.
ยีศุ รฺคฺรามมธฺยํ น ปฺรวิศฺย ยตฺร มรฺถา ตํ สากฺษาทฺ อกโรตฺ ตตฺร สฺถิตวานฺฯ
31 The Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house and consoling her, seeing Mary, that quickly she arose and went out, followed her, supposing that she was withdrawing unto the tomb, that she might weep there.
เย ยิหูทียา มริยมา สากํ คฺฤเห ติษฺฐนฺตสฺตามฺ อสานฺตฺวยน เต ตำ กฺษิปฺรมฺ อุตฺถาย คจฺฉนฺตึ วิโลกฺย วฺยาหรนฺ, ส ศฺมศาเน โรทิตุํ ยาติ, อิตฺยุกฺตฺวา เต ตสฺยา: ปศฺจาทฺ อคจฺฉนฺฯ
32 Mary, therefore, when she came where Jesus was, seeing him, fell at his feet, saying unto him—Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
ยตฺร ยีศุรติษฺฐตฺ ตตฺร มริยมฺ อุปสฺถาย ตํ ทฺฤษฺฏฺวา ตสฺย จรณโย: ปติตฺวา วฺยาหรตฺ เห ปฺรโภ ยทิ ภวานฺ อตฺราสฺถาสฺยตฺ ตรฺหิ มม ภฺราตา นามริษฺยตฺฯ
33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was indignant in the spirit, and troubled himself,
ยีศุสฺตำ ตสฺยา: สงฺคิโน ยิหูทียำศฺจ รุทโต วิโลกฺย โศการฺตฺต: สนฺ ทีรฺฆํ นิศฺวสฺย กถิตวานฺ ตํ กุตฺราสฺถาปยต?
34 and said—Where have ye laid him? They say unto him—Lord! come and see.
เต วฺยาหรนฺ, เห ปฺรโภ ภวานฺ อาคตฺย ปศฺยตุฯ
35 Jesus wept.
ยีศุนา กฺรนฺทิตํฯ
36 The Jews, therefore, were saying—See! how tenderly he loved him!
อเตอว ยิหูทียา อวทนฺ, ปศฺยตายํ ตสฺมินฺ กิทฺฤคฺ อปฺริยตฯ
37 But, some from among them, said—Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that, this one also, should not have died?
เตษำ เกจิทฺ อวทนฺ โยนฺธาย จกฺษุษี ทตฺตวานฺ ส กิมฺ อสฺย มฺฤตฺยุํ นิวารยิตุํ นาศกฺโนตฺ?
38 Jesus, therefore, again, being indignant within himself, cometh unto the tomb. Now it was a cave, and, a stone, was lying thereon.
ตโต ยีศุ: ปุนรนฺตรฺทีรฺฆํ นิศฺวสฺย ศฺมศานานฺติกมฺ อคจฺฉตฺฯ ตตฺ ศฺมศานมฺ เอกํ คหฺวรํ ตนฺมุเข ปาษาณ เอก อาสีตฺฯ
39 Jesus, saith, Take ye away the stone! Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith unto him—Lord! by this time, he stinketh, for it is, four days.
ตทา ยีศุรวททฺ เอนํ ปาษาณมฺ อปสารยต, ตต: ปฺรมีตสฺย ภคินี มรฺถาวทตฺ ปฺรโภ, อธุนา ตตฺร ทุรฺคนฺโธ ชาต: , ยโตทฺย จตฺวาริ ทินานิ ศฺมศาเน ส ติษฺฐติฯ
40 Jesus saith unto her—Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldst see the glory of God?
ตทา ยีศุรวาทีตฺ, ยทิ วิศฺวสิษิ ตรฺหีศฺวรสฺย มหิมปฺรกาศํ ทฺรกฺษฺยสิ กถามิมำ กึ ตุภฺยํ นากถยํ?
41 So they took away the stone. And, Jesus, lifted up his eyes on high, and said—Father! I thank thee, thou didst hear me:
ตทา มฺฤตสฺย ศฺมศานาตฺ ปาษาโณ'ปสาริเต ยีศุรูรฺทฺวฺวํ ปศฺยนฺ อกถยตฺ, เห ปิต รฺมม เนเวสนมฺ อศฺฤโณ: การณาทสฺมาตฺ ตฺวำ ธนฺยํ วทามิฯ
42 I, indeed, knew that, always, unto me, thou dost hearken; but, for the sake of the multitude standing around, I spake, —that they might believe that, thou, didst send me forth.
ตฺวํ สตตํ ศฺฤโณษิ ตทปฺยหํ ชานามิ, กินฺตุ ตฺวํ มำ ยตฺ ไปฺรรยสฺตทฺ ยถาสฺมินฺ สฺถาเน สฺถิตา โลกา วิศฺวสนฺติ ตทรฺถมฺ อิทํ วากฺยํ วทามิฯ
43 And, these things, having said, with a loud voice, he cried out—Lazarus! Come forth!
อิมำ กถำ กถยิตฺวา ส โปฺรจฺไจราหฺวยตฺ, เห อิลิยาสรฺ พหิราคจฺฉฯ
44 He that was dead came forth, bound feet and hands with bandages, and, his face, with a napkin, was bound about. Jesus saith unto them—Loose him, and let him go.
ตต: ส ปฺรมีต: ศฺมศานวสฺไตฺร รฺพทฺธหสฺตปาโท คาตฺรมารฺชนวาสสา พทฺธมุขศฺจ พหิราคจฺฉตฺฯ ยีศุรุทิตวานฺ พนฺธนานิ โมจยิตฺวา ตฺยชไตนํฯ
45 Many therefore from among the Jews, who had come unto Mary, and gazed on what he did, believed on him
มริยม: สมีปมฺ อาคตา เย ยิหูทียโลกาสฺตทา ยีโศเรตตฺ กรฺมฺมาปศฺยนฺ เตษำ พหโว วฺยศฺวสนฺ,
46 but, certain from among them, went away unto the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.
กินฺตุ เกจิทเนฺย ผิรูศินำ สมีปํ คตฺวา ยีโศเรตสฺย กรฺมฺมโณ วารฺตฺตามฺ อวทนฺฯ
47 The High-priests and Pharisees, therefore, brought together a high-council, and were saying—What are we to do, in that, this man, doeth, many signs?
ตต: ปรํ ปฺรธานยาชกา: ผิรูศินาศฺจ สภำ กฺฤตฺวา วฺยาหรนฺ วยํ กึ กุรฺมฺม: ? เอษ มานโว พหูนฺยาศฺจรฺยฺยกรฺมฺมาณิ กโรติฯ
48 If we let him alone thus, all, will believe on him, and the Romans will come, and take away, both our place and nation.
ยทีทฺฤศํ กรฺมฺม กรฺตฺตุํ น วารยามสฺตรฺหิ สรฺเวฺว โลกาสฺตสฺมินฺ วิศฺวสิษฺยนฺติ โรมิโลกาศฺจาคตฺยาสฺมากมฺ อนยา ราชธานฺยา สารฺทฺธํ ราชฺยมฺ อาเฉตฺสฺยนฺติฯ
49 But, a certain one from among them, Caiaphas, being, High-priest, for that year, said unto them—Ye, know, nothing at all;
ตทา เตษำ กิยผานามา ยสฺตสฺมินฺ วตฺสเร มหายาชกปเท นฺยยุชฺยต ส ปฺรตฺยวททฺ ยูยํ กิมปิ น ชานีถ;
50 nor do ye take into account, that it is profitable for you that, one man, should die for the people, and not, the whole nation, perish.
สมคฺรเทศสฺย วินาศโตปิ สรฺวฺวโลการฺถมฺ เอกสฺย ชนสฺย มรณมฺ อสฺมากํ มงฺคลเหตุกมฺ เอตสฺย วิเวจนามปิ น กุรุถฯ
51 This, however, from himself, he spake not, but, being, High-priest, for that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the nation;
เอตำ กถำ ส นิชพุทฺธฺยา วฺยาหรทฺ อิติ น,
52 and, not for the nation only, but that, the scattered children of God also, he might gather together into one.
กินฺตุ ยีศูสฺตทฺเทศียานำ การณาตฺ ปฺราณานฺ ตฺยกฺษฺยติ, ทิศิ ทิศิ วิกีรฺณานฺ อีศฺวรสฺย สนฺตานานฺ สํคฺฤไหฺยกชาตึ กริษฺยติ จ, ตสฺมินฺ วตฺสเร กิยผา มหายาชกตฺวปเท นิยุกฺต: สนฺ อิทํ ภวิษฺยทฺวากฺยํ กถิตวานฺฯ
53 From that day, therefore, they took counsel, that they might put him to death.
ตทฺทินมารภฺย เต กถํ ตํ หนฺตุํ ศกฺนุวนฺตีติ มนฺตฺรณำ กรฺตฺตุํ ปฺราเรภิเรฯ
54 Jesus, therefore, no longer openly, was walking among the Jews, but departed thence, into the country near the desert, unto a city called, Ephraim; and, there, abode, with his disciples.
อเตอว ยิหูทียานำ มเธฺย ยีศุ: สปฺรกาศํ คมนาคมเน อกฺฤตฺวา ตสฺมาทฺ คตฺวา ปฺรานฺตรสฺย สมีปสฺถายิปฺรเทศเสฺยผฺรายิมฺ นามฺนิ นคเร ศิไษฺย: สากํ กาลํ ยาปยิตุํ ปฺราเรเภฯ
55 Now the passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up unto Jerusalem, out of the country, before the passover, that they might purify themselves.
อนนฺตรํ ยิหูทียานำ นิสฺตาโรตฺสเว นิกฏวรฺตฺตินิ สติ ตทุตฺสวาตฺ ปูรฺวฺวํ สฺวานฺ ศุจีนฺ กรฺตฺตุํ พหโว ชนา คฺราเมโภฺย ยิรูศาลมฺ นครมฺ อาคจฺฉนฺ,
56 They were therefore seeking Jesus, and were saying one to another, in the temple, standing—How seemeth it unto you? that he will in nowise come unto the feast?
ยีโศรเนฺวษณํ กฺฤตฺวา มนฺทิเร ทณฺฑายมานา: สนฺต: ปรสฺปรํ วฺยาหรนฺ, ยุษฺมากํ กีทฺฤโศ โพโธ ชายเต? ส กิมฺ อุตฺสเว'สฺมินฺ อตฺราคมิษฺยติ?
57 Now the High-priests and the Pharisees had given commands, that, if anyone came to know where he was, he should inform [them], so that they might seize him.
ส จ กุตฺราสฺติ ยเทฺยตตฺ กศฺจิทฺ เวตฺติ ตรฺหิ ทรฺศยตุ ปฺรธานยาชกา: ผิรูศินศฺจ ตํ ธรฺตฺตุํ ปูรฺวฺวมฺ อิมามฺ อาชฺญำ ปฺราจารยนฺฯ
