< John 11 >
1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister.
Mundu mmonga liina laki Lazalu avi mtamu. Mundu mwenuyo avili mkolonjinji wa Betania, valumbu vaki Maliya na Malita vatamayi chijiji chila.
2 And Mary was she who anointed the Lord with perfume, and wiped his feet with her hair—whose brother Lazarus was sick.
Maliya ndi yula mweamnyalili Bambu mahuta geginungalila bwina mumagendelu gaki na kumuungula na mayunju gaki. Lazalu mweavimtamu ndi mhaja wa Maliya.
3 The sisters, therefore, sent out unto him, saying—Lord, see! he whom thou tenderly lovest, is sick.
Hinu, valumbu vala vatumili ujumbi kwa Yesu. “Bambu, nkozi waku mtamu!”
4 But Jesus hearing, said—This sickness, is not unto death, but for the glory of God, —that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.
Yesu mwene peagayuwini genago, akajova, “Utamu wenuwu wileta lepi lifwa, uhumalili muni Chapanga apewa ukulu na Mwana wa Chapanga mewa apewa ukulu.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
Yesu avaganili Malita na Maliya pamonga na mlongo wavi Lazalu.
6 When, therefore, he heard that he was sick, then, indeed, he abode in the place where he was, two days.
Peayuwini kuvya Lazalu mtamu, Yesu akahamba kutama peavili magono gavili.
7 Then, after this, he saith unto the disciples—Let us be leading on into Judaea, again.
Kangi akavajovela vawuliwa vaki, “Tihamba kavili ku Yudea!”
8 The disciples say unto him—Rabbi! just now, were the Jews seeking to stone thee—and, again, goest thou thither?
Vawuliwa vala vakamjovela, “Muwula, lukumbi luhupi ndu lupitili Vayawudi vaganili kukukoma na maganga, hinu wigana kuhamba kwenuko kavili?”
9 Jesus answered—Are there not, twelve hours, in the day? If one walk in the day, he doth no stumble, because, the light of this world, he seeth;
Yesu akavayangula “Wu, kuvi lepi masaa kumi na gavili ga muhi? Hinu mundu akagendayi muhi nakuhotola kujikuvala ndava ihotola kulola lumuli lwa mulima.
10 But, if one walk in the night, he stumbleth, because, the light, is not in him.
Nambu mundu akagendayi kilu akujikuvala ndava muni kawaka lumuli.”
11 These things, he said, and, after this, he saith unto them—Lazarus, our dear friend, hath fallen asleep; but I am going, that I may awake him.
Yesu peamali kujova malovi genago, akavajovela “Nkozi witu Lazalu agonili, nambu nene yati nihamba kumuyumusa.”
12 The disciples, therefore, said unto him—Lord! if he have fallen asleep, he will recover.
Vawuliwa vaki vakamjovela, “Bambu yikavya agonili yati ilama.”
13 But Jesus had spoken concerning his death; whereas, they, supposed that, concerning the taking of rest in sleep, he had been speaking.
Vene vaholalili kuvya ajovili kugona lugono, nambu Yesu ajovili kumvala lifwa la Lazalu.
14 Jesus, therefore, then, said unto them, plainly, —Lazarus, died;
Ndi Yesu akavajovela hotohoto kuvya “Lazalu afwili,
15 and I rejoice, for your sake—that ye may believe, —that I was not there; but let us be going unto him.
Nambu ndava yinu nivii na luheku ndava navi lepi kwenuko, muni musadika. Hinu tihamba kwa Lazalu.”
16 Thomas, therefore, the one called Didymus, said unto his fellow-disciples—Let, us also, be going, that we may die with him.
Tomasi mweikemelewa mpaha, akavajovela vawuliwa vayaki, “Tihamba na tete tikafwayi pamonga na Yesu!”
17 Jesus, therefore, coming, found that, four days already, had he been in the tomb.
Yesu peahikili kwenuko, amkolili Lazalu amali kuvya mulitinda magono mcheche.
18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;
Chijiji cha Betania chavi papipi na Yelusalemu, utali waki wavi kilomita zidatu.
19 and, many from among the Jews, had come unto Martha and Mary, that they might console them concerning their brother.
Vayawudi vamahele vahikili kwa Malita na Maliya kuvapolesa mitima ndava mhaja wavi afwili.
20 Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him; but, Mary, in the house, remained sitting.
Hinu, Malita peayuwini kuvya Yesu ibwela, akahamba kumpokela, nambu Maliya asigalili kunyumba.
21 Martha, therefore, said unto Jesus—Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;
Malita amjovili Yesu, “Bambu, Ngati ngauvyayi apa, mhaja wangu ngaafwili lepi.
22 And, now, I know, that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God, will give unto thee.
Nambu nimanyili kuvya hati hinu, chochoha cheukumuyupa Chapanga yati akupela.”
23 Jesus saith unto her—Thy brother shall rise.
Yesu akamjovela, “Mhaja waku yati iyuka.”
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise, in the resurrection, in the last day.
Malita akayangula, “Nimanyili kuvya yati iyuka lukumbi Chapanga peakuvayukisa vevafwili.”
25 Jesus said unto her—I, am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, even though he die, shall live again!
Yesu akamjovela, “Nene ndi mweniyukisa vandu na kuvapela vandu wumi. Mweakunisadika nene hati ngati afwili, yati itama,
26 And, no one who liveth again and believeth on me, shall in anywise die, unto times age-abiding. Believest thou this? (aiōn )
mewawa mundu yoyoha mweitama na kunisadika, katu ifwa lepi. Wu, wisadika genago?” (aiōn )
27 She saith unto him—Yea, Lord! I, have believed, that, thou, art the Christ, the Son of God, —He who, into the world, should come.
Malita akayangula “Ena Bambu! Nene nisadika kuvya veve ndi Kilisitu, Mwana wa Chapanga, yula mweibwela pamulima.”
28 And this saying, she went away, and called Mary her sister, secretly, saying—The teacher, is present, and calleth thee.
Peamalii kujova genago, Malita akahamba kumkemela mlumbu waki Maliya, akamjovela pachiepela, “Muwula avi penapa, akukemela.”
29 And, she, when she heard, was roused up quickly, and was coming unto him.
Maliya peayuwini malovi ago, bahapo akayima kanyata akamuhambila Yesu.
30 Not yet, however, had Jesus come into the village, but was still in the place where, Martha, met him.
Yesu avi akona kuyingila pachijiji, ndi avi pandu palapala pavakonganiki na Malita.
31 The Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house and consoling her, seeing Mary, that quickly she arose and went out, followed her, supposing that she was withdrawing unto the tomb, that she might weep there.
Vayawudi vevampolesa mtima Maliya panyumba pala, pavamuwene Maliya awukili chigafula, vakamlanda. Vaholalili kuvya ihamba kuvemba kulitinda.
32 Mary, therefore, when she came where Jesus was, seeing him, fell at his feet, saying unto him—Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Maliya peahikili pandu pala peavili Yesu na kumlola akamfugamila, akamjovela, “Bambu ngati kuvya uvya apa, mhaja wangu ngaafwili lepi!”
33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was indignant in the spirit, and troubled himself,
Yesu peamuwene Maliya ivemba na Vayawudi vevamlandili mewa vivemba, ndi akavya ngolongondi na kuviniswa mumtima.
34 and said—Where have ye laid him? They say unto him—Lord! come and see.
Kangi akavakota, “Mumvikili koki?” Vakamjovela “Bambu, ubwela ulolayi.”
36 The Jews, therefore, were saying—See! how tenderly he loved him!
Hinu, Vayawudi vakajova, “Mlola cheamganili Lazalu!”
37 But, some from among them, said—Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that, this one also, should not have died?
Nambu vangi vakajova, “Wu, mwenuyu ndi yula mweamdindwili mihu ngalola, hinu ahotwili lepi kukita Lazalu akoto kufwa?”
38 Jesus, therefore, again, being indignant within himself, cometh unto the tomb. Now it was a cave, and, a stone, was lying thereon.
Yesu iviniswa mtima kavili, akahika kulitinda. Litinda lene lavi mbugu levadivalili liganga pamlyangu waki.
39 Jesus, saith, Take ye away the stone! Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith unto him—Lord! by this time, he stinketh, for it is, four days.
Yesu akavajovela, “Muwusa liganga lenili!” Malita mlumbu wa yula mweafwili akamjovela. “Bambu atumbwili kununga muni atamii mulitinda mula magono mcheche!”
40 Jesus saith unto her—Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldst see the glory of God?
Yesu akamjovela, “Wu, nene nakujovili lepi ukasadika yati ulola ukulu wa Chapanga?”
41 So they took away the stone. And, Jesus, lifted up his eyes on high, and said—Father! I thank thee, thou didst hear me:
Ndi vakaliwusa liganga lila. Yesu akalolokesa kunani kwa Chapanga, akajova “Dadi nikusengusa muni ukuniyuwana.
42 I, indeed, knew that, always, unto me, thou dost hearken; but, for the sake of the multitude standing around, I spake, —that they might believe that, thou, didst send me forth.
Nimanyili kuvya ukuniyuwana magono goha. Nambu nijovili genaga ndava ya vandu vevavi apa vasadikayi kuvya veve ndi mweunitumili.”
43 And, these things, having said, with a loud voice, he cried out—Lazarus! Come forth!
Peamali kujova genago, Akakemela kwa lwami luvaha, “Lazalu! Huma kuvala!”
44 He that was dead came forth, bound feet and hands with bandages, and, his face, with a napkin, was bound about. Jesus saith unto them—Loose him, and let him go.
Mweafwili yula akahuma kuvala, kuni vamtindisili nyula ya msopi mumagendelu na mumawoko na pamihu poha. Yesu akavajovela, “Mumnyembelula, mumleka ahamba mwene.”
45 Many therefore from among the Jews, who had come unto Mary, and gazed on what he did, believed on him
Vayawudi vamahele vevabwelili kwa Maliya na kulilola lijambu leahengili Yesu. Ndi vakamsadika.
46 but, certain from among them, went away unto the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.
Nambu vangi vavi vakahamba kwa Vafalisayu vakavadandaulila lijambu leahengili Yesu.
47 The High-priests and Pharisees, therefore, brought together a high-council, and were saying—What are we to do, in that, this man, doeth, many signs?
Vakulu va kuteta na Vafalisayu vakakonganeka na vandu Libanji la Vayawudi vakakota, “Tikita wuli? Mundu uyu ihenga milangisu yamahele neju.
48 If we let him alone thus, all, will believe on him, and the Romans will come, and take away, both our place and nation.
Takamlekayi vandu voha yati vamsadika, na vakulu va ku Loma yati vibwela na kudenya Nyumba yitu ya Chapanga pamonga na mulima na vandu vitu!”
49 But, a certain one from among them, Caiaphas, being, High-priest, for that year, said unto them—Ye, know, nothing at all;
Mmonga wavi liina laki Kayafa, mweavi Mkulu wa Vateta wa mwaka wenuwo, akavajovela, “Nyenye nakumanya chindu!
50 nor do ye take into account, that it is profitable for you that, one man, should die for the people, and not, the whole nation, perish.
Mwimanya lepi, ndi mbanga pagati yinu mundu mmonga afwayi ndava ya vandu, kuliku vandu voha va mulima witu vakomiwayi?”
51 This, however, from himself, he spake not, but, being, High-priest, for that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the nation;
Mwene ajovili lepi kwa luhala lwaki, nambu ndava avi Mteta mkulu mwaka wenuwo, ndi alotili kuvya Yesu yati ifwa ndava ya Vayawudi,
52 and, not for the nation only, but that, the scattered children of God also, he might gather together into one.
lepi ndava ya Vayawudi vene ndu, nambu mewa ndava ya vandu voha va Chapanga vevapechangini, muni avaletayi pamonga na kuvakita vavyayi na umonga.
53 From that day, therefore, they took counsel, that they might put him to death.
Kutumbula ligono lenilo vachilongosi va Vayawudi vayidakilini kumkoma Yesu.
54 Jesus, therefore, no longer openly, was walking among the Jews, but departed thence, into the country near the desert, unto a city called, Ephraim; and, there, abode, with his disciples.
Hinu Yesu agendili lepi hotohoto pagati ya Vayawudi, akawuka pandu pala akahamba pandu pepavi papipi na lugangatu. Pamuji wewukemelewa Efulaimu. Akatama kwenuko pamonga na vawuliwa vaki.
55 Now the passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up unto Jerusalem, out of the country, before the passover, that they might purify themselves.
Mselebuko wa Vayawudi Pasaka wavi papipi, na vandu vamahele vahambili ku Yelusalemu muni vahenga malagizu ga kujinyambisa vene muni kumuyupa Chapanga, kwakona mselebuko wenuwo.
56 They were therefore seeking Jesus, and were saying one to another, in the temple, standing—How seemeth it unto you? that he will in nowise come unto the feast?
Vakavya kumulonda Yesu. Pevakonganiki pamonga Panyumba ya Chapanga. Vakakotana, “Yivya wuli? Yilolekana ibwela lepi pa mselebuko wenuwu? Amala wuli?”
57 Now the High-priests and the Pharisees had given commands, that, if anyone came to know where he was, he should inform [them], so that they might seize him.
Vakulu va kuteta na Vafalisayu valagazili kuvya mundu akamanyayi kweavili Yesu, avajovelayi muni vamukamulayi.
