Job 8
1 Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said: —
A LAILA olelo mai la o Biledada, no Suha, i mai la,
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? Or, as a mighty wind, shall be the sayings of thy mouth?
Pehea la ka loihi o kau olelo ana i keia mau mea? A he makani ikaika na huaolelo o kou waha?
3 Should, GOD, pervert justice? Or, the Almighty, pervert righteousness?
E hookahuli anei ke Akua i ka pololei? A e hookekee anei ka Mea mana i ka pono?
4 Though, thy children, sinned against him, and he delivered them into the hand of their transgression,
Ina paha ua hana hewa kau poe keiki ia ia, Alaila kiola aku la ia ia lakou, no ko lakou lawehala ana;
5 Yet, if, thou thyself, wilt diligently seek unto GOD, —and, unto the Almighty, wilt make supplication;
Ina e imi oe i ke Akua, A e nonoi aku oe i ka Mea mana;
6 If, pure and upright, thou thyself, art, surely, now, will he answer thy prayer, and will prosper thy righteous habitation:
Ina ua maemae oe a pono hoi; He oiaio no, ina ua ala mai no ia ano nou, A ua hoomalu mai ia i ka hale o kou pono ana.
7 So shall thy beginning appear small, —when, thy latter end, he shall greatly increase!
Ina ua uuku kou hoomaka ana i kinohou, O kou hopena, e mahuahua loa ana no ia.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of a former generation, and prepare thyself for the research of their fathers; —
No ka mea, ke noi aku nei au ia oe, e ninau aku oe i ka hanauna mamua, A e hoomakaukau oe e noonoo i ko lakou poe makua:
9 For, of yesterday, are, we, and cannot know, for, a shadow, are our days upon earth:
(No ka mea, inehinei wale no kakou, aohe ike, A o ko kakou mau la ma ka honua, he aka no ia: )
10 Shall, they, not teach thee—tell thee, and, out of their memory, bring forth words?
Aole anei lakou e ao mai ia oe, a e hai mai ia oe, A e hoike mai i na olelo mailoko mai o ko lakou naau?
11 Can the paper-reed grow up, without a marsh? Or the rush grow up, without water?
E ulu anei ke papuro ke ole ka lepo poho? E ulu anei ka akaakai ke ole ka wai?
12 Though while still, in its freshness, it be not plucked off, yet, before any kind of grass, it doth wither:
I kona manawa uliuli, aole i okiia, Ua mae no ia mamua o na mauu e ae a pau.
13 So, shall be the latter end of all who forget GOD, and, the hope of the impious, shall perish:
Pela no ka hope o ka poe a pau e hoopoina ana i ke Akua; A pela no ka manaolana o ka aia e make ai.
14 Whose trust shall be contemptible, —and, a spider’s web, his confidence:
O kona manaolana e okiia'ku ia, A o kona mea hilinai, he punawelewele no ia.
15 He leaneth upon his house, and it will not stand, he holdeth it fast, and it will not remain erect.
E hilinai iho oia maluna o kona hale, aka, aole ia e paa: E hoopaa aku oia ia mea, aole nae ia e kupono.
16 Full of moisture he is, before the sun, and, over his garden, his shoot goeth forth:
Ua uliuli oia imua o ka la, A kupu ae kona mau lala ma kona kihapai.
17 Over a heap, his roots are entwined, a place of stones, he descrieth;
Ua awiliia kona mau aa ma ka waikahe, A ike iho la ia i kahi o na pohaku.
18 If one destroy him out of his place, then will it disown him [saying] —I have not seen thee.
Aka, e hoopauia aku ia mea mai kona wahi aku, Alaila e hoole mai oia ia ia, aole au i ike ia oe.
19 Lo! that, is the joy of his way, —and, out of the dust, shall others spring up.
Aia hoi, oia ka olioli o kona aoao, A mailoko mai o ka lepo e kupu ae na mea e.
20 Lo! GOD, will not reject a blameless man, neither will he grasp the hand of evil-doers:
Aia hoi, aole ke Akua e hoowahawaha i ka mea pono, Aole hoi ia e kokua aku i ka poe hana hewa:
21 At length he shall fill with laughter thy mouth, and thy lips, with a shout of triumph:
A hoopiha mai ia i kou waha i ka akaaka, A i kou lehelehe i ka hooho olioli.
22 They who hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, but, the tent of the lawless, shall not be!
O ka poe inaina ia oe e hoaahuia lakou i ka hilahila: A e lilo ka hale o ka poe hewa i mea ole.
