Job 8
1 Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said: —
Da antwortete Bildad von Suah und sprach:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? Or, as a mighty wind, shall be the sayings of thy mouth?
Wie lange willst du solches reden und die Rede deines Mundes so einen stolzen Mut haben?
3 Should, GOD, pervert justice? Or, the Almighty, pervert righteousness?
Meinest du, daß Gott unrecht richte, oder der Allmächtige das Recht verkehre?
4 Though, thy children, sinned against him, and he delivered them into the hand of their transgression,
Haben deine Söhne vor ihm gesündiget, so hat er sie verstoßen um ihrer Missetat willen.
5 Yet, if, thou thyself, wilt diligently seek unto GOD, —and, unto the Almighty, wilt make supplication;
So du aber dich beizeiten zu Gott tust und dem Allmächtigen flehest,
6 If, pure and upright, thou thyself, art, surely, now, will he answer thy prayer, and will prosper thy righteous habitation:
und du so rein und fromm bist, so wird er aufwachen zu dir und wird wieder aufrichten die Wohnung um deiner Gerechtigkeit willen;
7 So shall thy beginning appear small, —when, thy latter end, he shall greatly increase!
und was du zuerst wenig gehabt hast, wird hernach fast zunehmen.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of a former generation, and prepare thyself for the research of their fathers; —
Denn frage die vorigen Geschlechter und nimm dir vor, zu forschen ihre Väter.
9 For, of yesterday, are, we, and cannot know, for, a shadow, are our days upon earth:
(Denn wir sind von gestern her und wissen nichts; unser Leben ist ein Schatten auf Erden.)
10 Shall, they, not teach thee—tell thee, and, out of their memory, bring forth words?
Sie werden dich's lehren und dir sagen und ihre Rede aus ihrem Herzen hervorbringen.
11 Can the paper-reed grow up, without a marsh? Or the rush grow up, without water?
Kann auch das Schilf aufwachsen, wo es nicht feucht stehet, oder Gras wachsen ohne Wasser?
12 Though while still, in its freshness, it be not plucked off, yet, before any kind of grass, it doth wither:
Sonst wenn's noch in der Blüte ist, ehe es abgehauen wird, verdorret es, ehe denn man Heu machet.
13 So, shall be the latter end of all who forget GOD, and, the hope of the impious, shall perish:
So geht es allen denen, die Gottes vergessen, und die Hoffnung der Heuchler wird verloren sein.
14 Whose trust shall be contemptible, —and, a spider’s web, his confidence:
Denn seine Zuversicht vergehet, und seine Hoffnung ist eine Spinnwebe.
15 He leaneth upon his house, and it will not stand, he holdeth it fast, and it will not remain erect.
Er verlässet sich auf sein Haus und wird doch nicht bestehen; er wird sich dran halten, aber doch nicht stehen bleiben.
16 Full of moisture he is, before the sun, and, over his garden, his shoot goeth forth:
Es hat wohl Früchte, ehe denn die Sonne kommt; und Reiser wachsen hervor in seinem Garten.
17 Over a heap, his roots are entwined, a place of stones, he descrieth;
Seine Saat stehet dicke bei den Quellen und sein Haus auf Steinen.
18 If one destroy him out of his place, then will it disown him [saying] —I have not seen thee.
Wenn er ihn aber verschlinget von seinem Ort, wird er sich gegen ihn stellen, als kennete er ihn nicht.
19 Lo! that, is the joy of his way, —and, out of the dust, shall others spring up.
Siehe, das ist die Freude seines Wesens; und werden andere aus dem Staube wachsen.
20 Lo! GOD, will not reject a blameless man, neither will he grasp the hand of evil-doers:
Darum siehe, daß Gott nicht verwirft die Frommen und erhält nicht die Hand der Boshaftigen,
21 At length he shall fill with laughter thy mouth, and thy lips, with a shout of triumph:
bis daß dein Mund voll Lachens werde und deine Lippen voll Jauchzens.
22 They who hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, but, the tent of the lawless, shall not be!
Die dich aber hassen; werden zuschanden werden, und der Gottlosen Hütte wird nicht bestehen.
