< Job 4 >

1 Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said: —
Dia namaly Elifaza Temanita ka nanao hoe:
2 If one attempt a word unto thee, wilt thou be impatient? But, to restrain speech, who, can endure?
Raha misy sahy miteny aminao, dia ho sosotra va ianao? Fa raha ny mamehy vava kosa, iza moa no mahazaka izany?
3 Lo! thou hast admonished many, and, slack hands, hast thou been wont to uphold:
Indro, efa nananatra ny maro ianao. Ary ny tanana miraviravy efa nampaherezinao;
4 Him that was stumbling, have thy words raised up, and, sinking knees, hast thou strengthened.
Ny teninao efa nanohana izay efa saiky lavo, ary ny lohalika malemy efa nampahatanjahinao
5 But, now, it cometh upon thee, and thou despairest, It smiteth even thee, and thou art dismayed.
Nefa ankehitriny mba manjo anao kosa izany, ka dia kivy ianao, Mihatra aminao izany, ka raiki-tahotra ianao
6 Is not, thy reverence, thy confidence? And is not, thy hope, the very integrity of thy ways?
Tsy ny fivavahanao va no tokinao? Ary tsy fanantenanao va ny fahitsian’ ny lalanao?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who, being innocent, hath perished, or when, the upright, have been cut off.
Masìna ianao, tsarovy fa iza moa no very tsy nanan-tsiny? Ary taiza no nisy olo-mahitsy naringana?
8 So far as I have seen, They who plow for iniquity and sow misery, reap the same:
Araka izay efa hitako, dia izay miasa heloka sy mamafy fahoriana no mijinja izany.
9 By the blast of GOD, they perish, And, by the breath of his nostrils, are they consumed:
Ny fofonain’ Andriamanitra no andringanana azy. Eny, ny fofonain’ ny fahatezerany no mahalevona azy.
10 [Notwithstanding] the roaring of the lion, and the noise of the howling lion, yet, the teeth of the fierce lions, are broken:
Ny feon’ ny olona, eny, ny feon’ ny liona masiaka, ary ny nifin’ ny liona tanora dia ombotana;
11 The strong lion perishing for lack of prey, Even the whelps of the lioness, are scattered.
Mirenireny ny lion-dahy noho ny tsi-fahitany remby, ary miely ny zanaky ny liom-bavy.
12 But, unto me, something was brought by stealth, —and mine ear caught a whispering of the same:
Nisy teny tonga tamiko mangingina, ary ny sofiko nahare siosio avy taminy,
13 When there were thoughts, from visions of the night, —When deep sleep falleth upon men,
Tamin’ ny eritreritra avy amin’ ny tsindrimandry alina, raha sondrian-tory ny olona,
14 Dread, came upon me, and trembling, The multitude of my bones, it put in dread:
Dia azon-tahotra sy hovotra aho, ka nampihorohoro ny taolako rehetra izany.
15 Then, a spirit, over my face, floated along, The hair of my flesh bristled-up:
Ary nisy fanahy nandalo teo anatrehako ka nampitsangam-bolo ny tenako.
16 It stood still, but I could not distinguish its appearance, I looked, but there was no form before mine eyes, —A whispering voice, I heard: —
Nijanona izy, nefa tsy nahafantatra ny tarehiny aho; Nisy endri-javatra teo anoloan’ ny masoko; Nisy fanginana, dia nandre feo aho nanao hoe:
17 Shall, mortal man, be more just than GOD? Or a man be more pure than, his Maker?
Ho marina noho Andriamanitra va ny zanak’ olombelona? Ho madio noho ny Mpanao azy va ny olona?
18 Lo! in his own servants, he trusteth not, and, his own messengers, he chargeth with error:
Indro, tsy matoky ireo mpanompony aza Izy, eny, ny anjeliny aza ataony ho tsy tonga ohatra.
19 How much more the dwellers in houses of clay, which, in the dust, have their foundation, which are crushed sooner than a moth:
Koa mainka izay mitoetra ao an-trano tany, sady avy tamin’ ny vovoka no nihaviany, ary mora poritra noho ny kalalao izy;
20 Betwixt morning and evening, are they broken in pieces, With none to save, they utterly perish:
Indray andro monja dia montsana izy; Tsy misy misaina azy, na dia levona mandrakizay aza izy.
21 Is not their tent-rope within them, torn away? They die, disrobed of wisdom!
Tsy voaongotra va ny kofehin-dainy ao aminy? Maty izy, nefa tsy mbola nanam-pahendrena.
