< Job 37 >

1 Yea, at this, my heart quaketh, and starteth up out of its place.
“ʻOku tetetete hoku loto foki ʻi he meʻa ni, pea homo mei hono potu.
2 Hear! oh hear! the raging of his voice, A growling sound also, out of his mouth, goeth forth;
Ke ke fanongo lelei ki he longoaʻa ʻo hono leʻo, mo e fatulisi ʻoku ʻalu atu mei hono fofonga.
3 Under the whole heavens, he letteth it loose, His lightning also, unto the wings of the earth;
‌ʻOku ne fakahinohino ia ʻi he lalo langi kotoa pē, mo ʻene ʻuhila ʻoku aʻu atu ki he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani.
4 After it, roareth a voice, He thundereth with his voice of majesty, Nor will he hold them back, when his voice is heard.
Hili ia ʻoku ʻuʻulu ʻae leʻo: ʻoku ne mana ʻaki ʻae leʻo ʻo hono ngeia; pea ʻi he ongoʻi ʻo hono leʻo ʻe ʻikai te ne taʻofi ia.
5 GOD thundereth with his voice, wonderfully, Doing great things, which we cannot know;
‌ʻOku mana fakamanavahē mai ʻe he ʻOtua ʻaki hono leʻo; ʻoku fai ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi meʻa lahi, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai te tau faʻa ʻiloʻi.
6 For, to the snow, he saith, Fall earthwards, —Also to the downpour of rain, yea the downpour of his mighty rains.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe ia ki he ʻuha hinehina, ‘Ke ke ʻi he kelekele koe;’ pea pehē pe ki he taumosi, mo e ʻuha lahi foki ʻo hono mālohi.
7 On the hand of every man, he setteth a seal, that all men may take note of his doing.
‌ʻOku ne tāpuni ʻae nima ʻoe tangata kotoa pē; koeʻuhi ke ʻilo ʻe he tangata kotoa pē ʻa ʻene ngāue.
8 So then the wild-beast hath gone into covert, and, in its lairs, doth it remain.
Pea ʻoku toki hū ʻae fanga manu ki he ngaahi ʻana, ʻo nofo ʻi honau ngaahi potu.
9 Out of a chamber cometh a storm-wind, and, out of the north, cold.
‌ʻOku haʻu ʻae ʻahiohio mei he feituʻu tonga: mo e momoko mei he tokelau.
10 By the breath of GOD, is given—frost, and, the breadth of waters, is congealed;
‌ʻOku tupu ʻae hahau ʻi he mānava ʻae ʻOtua; pea ʻoku ʻapiʻapi ai ʻae māukupu ʻoe ngaahi vai.
11 Also, with moisture, burdeneth he the thick cloud, He disperseth his lightning-cloud;
Pea ʻi he faʻa ʻuha ʻoku ne fakamanifinifi ʻae ʻao matolu: ʻoku ne veteki ʻa ʻene ʻao ngingila:
12 Yea, the same, in circles, turneth itself to and fro, by his steering them to their work, whithersoever he commandeth them, over the face of the world, towards the earth.
Pea ʻoku ʻave fakatakamilo ia ʻe heʻene fakakaukau: koeʻuhi ke nau fai ʻaia kotoa pē ʻoku ne fekau kiate kinautolu ʻi he funga ʻo māmani ʻi he fonua.
13 Whether, as a rod, or for his earth, or in lovingkindness, he causeth it to come.
‌ʻOku ne pule ke haʻu ia, ko e meʻa tautea, pe ko e meʻa ʻa hono fonua, pe ʻi he ʻaloʻofa.
14 Give thou ear unto this, O Job, Stay, and consider well the wonders of GOD: —
“Ke ke fakafanongo ʻe Siope, ki he meʻa ni: tuʻu mai ʻo fakakaukau ki he ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ʻae ʻOtua.
15 Canst thou got to know of GOD’S giving charge over them, or of the causing of the lightning of his cloud to shine forth?
‌ʻOku ke ʻilo naʻe fakatonutonu ia ʻanefē ʻe he ʻOtua, pea pule ke huhulu ʻae maama ʻo ʻene ʻao?
16 Canst thou get to know concerning the poisings of the thick cloud, the wonders of one who is perfect in knowledge?
‌ʻOku ke ʻilo ʻae potupotumālie ʻoe ngaahi ʻao, ʻae ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ʻo ia ʻaia ʻoku haohaoa ʻi he ʻilo?
17 That thy garments should be hot when he quieteth the earth from the south?
Pea ʻoku mafana fēfē ho ngaahi kofu, ʻoka ne ka fakatofutofu ʻae fonua ʻaki ʻae matangi tonga?
18 Didst thou spread out, with him, the skies, strong as a molten mirror?
He naʻa ke kau mo ia ʻi he folahi atu ʻae langi, ʻaia ʻoku mālohi, pea ʻoku tatau mo e sioʻata haka?
19 Let us know what we shall say to him, We cannot set in order, by reason of darkness.
‌ʻAko mai kiate kimautolu pe ko e hā te mau tala kiate ia; he ʻoku ʻikai te mau faʻa fakatonutonu ʻemau lea, ko e meʻa ʻi he fakapoʻuli.
20 Shall it be declared to him—that I would speak? Were any man to say aught, he might he destroyed?
‌ʻE tala kiate ia ʻoku ou lea? Kapau ʻe lea ha tangata, ko e moʻoni ʻe fōngia hifo ia.
21 Yet, now, men see not the light, bright though it is in the skies, when, a wind, hath passed over, and cleansed them.
Pea ko eni ʻoku ʻikai mamata ʻe he kakai ki he maama ngingila ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi ʻao: ka ʻoku ʻalu ʻae matangi, ʻo ne fakamaʻa ia.
22 Out of the north, a golden light cometh, Upon GOD, is fearful splendour:
‌ʻOku haʻu ʻae ʻafua mei he tokelau: ʻoku ʻi he ʻOtua ʻae ngeia fakamanavahē.
23 The Almighty, whom we have not fully found out, is great in vigour, —Neither, justice nor abounding righteousness, will he weaken.
Ko e Māfimafi, ʻoku ʻikai te tau faʻa ʻiloʻi ia: ʻoku lahi ia ʻi he mālohi, mo e fakamaau, pea mohu angatonu: ʻe ʻikai te ne tautea.
24 Therefore, do men revere him, He will not regard any who are wise in heart.
Ko ia ʻoku manavahē ai ʻae kakai kiate ia: ʻoku ʻikai te ne tokanga ki ha tokotaha ʻoku loto poto.”
