Job 28
1 Though there is, for silver, a vein, and a place for the gold they refine;
इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं, कि वहां चांदी की खान है तथा एक ऐसा स्थान, जहां वे स्वर्ण को शुद्ध करते हैं.
2 Iron, out of the ore, is taken, and, stone, poureth out copper;
धूल में से लौह को अलग किया जाता है, तथा चट्टान में से तांबा धातु पिघलाया जाता है.
3 An end, hath one set to the darkness, and, into every extremity, is, he, making search, for the stone of darkness and death-shade;
मनुष्य इसकी खोज में अंधकार भरे स्थल में दूर-दूर तक जाता है; चाहे वह अंधकार में छिपी कोई चट्टान है अथवा कोई घोर अंधकार भरे स्थल.
4 He hath sunken a shaft, away from the inhabitants; Places forsaken by the foot, they hang down, away from men, sway to and fro;
मनुष्य के घर से दूर वह गहरी खान खोदते हैं, रेगिस्तान स्थान में से दुर्गम स्थलों में जा पहुंचते हैं; तथा गहराई में लटके रहते हैं.
5 As for the earth, out of it, cometh forth bread, and, under it, is upturned, as it were fire;
पृथ्वी-पृथ्वी ही है, जो हमें भोजन प्रदान करती है, किंतु नीचे भूगर्भ अग्निमय है.
6 The place of sapphires, are the stones thereof, and it hath, nuggets of gold: —
पृथ्वी में चट्टानें नीलमणि का स्रोत हैं, पृथ्वी की धूल में ही स्वर्ण मिलता है.
7 A path, the vulture hath not discerned, nor hath the eye of the hawk scanned it;
यह मार्ग हिंसक पक्षियों को मालूम नहीं है, और न इस पर बाज की दृष्टि ही कभी पड़ी है.
8 Ravenous beasts have not made a track thereof, neither hath the lion marched thereon:
इस मार्ग पर निश्चिंत, हृष्ट-पुष्ट पशु कभी नहीं चले हैं, और न हिंसक सिंह इस मार्ग से कभी गया है.
9 Upon the flint, hath he thrust forth his hand, He hath turned up mountains by the roots;
मनुष्य चकमक के पत्थर को स्पर्श करता है, पर्वतों को तो वह आधार से ही पलटा देता है.
10 Among the rocks, hath he cut open streams, and, every precious thing, hath his eye seen:
वह चट्टानों में से मार्ग निकाल लेते हैं तथा उनकी दृष्टि वहीं पड़ती है, जहां कुछ अमूल्य होता है;
11 From trickling, he restraineth, rivers, and, some hidden thing, is he bringing out to light.
जल प्रवाह रोक कर वह बांध खड़े कर देते हैं तथा वह जो अदृश्य था, उसे प्रकाशित कर देते हैं.
12 Yet where can, Wisdom, be found? And where is the place of understanding?
प्रश्न यही उठता है कि कहां मिल सकती है बुद्धि? कहां है वह स्थान जहां समझ की जड़ है?
13 Mortal knoweth not the way thereof, neither can it be found in the land of the living;
मनुष्य इसका मूल्य नहीं जानता वस्तुतः जीवितों के लोक में यह पाई ही नहीं जाती.
14 The resounding deep, hath said, It is not in me! And, the sea, hath said, It is not with me!
सागर की गहराई की घोषणा है, “मुझमें नहीं है यह”; महासागर स्पष्ट करता है, “मैंने इसे नहीं छिपाया.”
15 Pure gold cannot be given in its stead, neither can silver he weighed as the value thereof;
स्वर्ण से इसको मोल नहीं लिया जा सकता, वैसे ही चांदी माप कर इसका मूल्य निर्धारण संभव नहीं है.
16 It cannot be put into the scales against the gold of Ophir, with costly onyx, or sapphire;
ओफीर का स्वर्ण भी इसे खरीद नहीं सकता, न ही गोमेद अथवा नीलमणि इसके लिए पर्याप्त होंगे.
17 Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it, nor can, the exchange thereof, be a vessel of pure gold,
स्वर्ण एवं स्फटिक इसके स्तर पर नहीं पहुंच सकते, और वैसे ही कुन्दन के आभूषण से इसका विनिमय संभव नहीं है.
18 Coral or crystal, cannot be mentioned, Yea, a possession, is wisdom, above red coral;
मूंगा तथा स्फटिक मणियों का यहां उल्लेख करना व्यर्थ है; ज्ञान की उपलब्धि मोतियों से कहीं अधिक ऊपर है.
19 The topaz of Ethiopia cannot compare with it, Against purest gold, can it not be weighed.
कूश देश का पुखराज इसके बराबर नहीं हो सकता; कुन्दन से इसका मूल्यांकन संभव नहीं है.
20 Whence then cometh, wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
तब, कहां है विवेक का उद्गम? कहां है समझ का निवास?
21 Seeing it hath been hid from the eyes of every living thing, and, from the bird of the heavens, hath it been concealed?
तब यह स्पष्ट है कि यह मनुष्यों की दृष्टि से छिपी है, हां, पक्षियों की दृष्टि से भी इसे नहीं देख पाते है.
22 Destruction and death, have said, With our ears, have we heard the report thereof!
नाश एवं मृत्यु स्पष्ट कहते हैं “अपने कानों से तो हमने बस, इसका उल्लेख सुना है.”
23 GOD, understandeth the way thereof, and, he, discerneth the place thereof;
मात्र परमेश्वर को इस तक पहुंचने का मार्ग मालूम है, उन्हें ही मालूम है इसका स्थान.
24 For, he, unto the ends of the earth, directeth his look, under all the heavens, he seeth;
क्योंकि वे पृथ्वी के छोर तक दृष्टि करते हैं तथा आकाश के नीचे की हर एक वस्तु उनकी दृष्टि में होती है.
25 Making, for the wind, a weight, and, the waters, he proved by measure,
जब उन्होंने वायु को बोझ प्रदान किया तथा जल को आयतन से मापा,
26 When he made, for the rain, a decree, and a way for the lightning of thunders,
जब उन्होंने वृष्टि की सीमा तय कर दी तथा गर्जन और बिजली की दिशा निर्धारित कर दी,
27 Then, saw he it, and declared it, He settled it, yea also he searched it out;
तभी उन्होंने इसे देखा तथा इसकी घोषणा की उन्होंने इसे संस्थापित किया तथा इसे खोज भी निकाला.
28 And said to the son of earth, Lo! the reverence of the Lord, that, is wisdom, and, to avoid evil, is understanding.
तब उन्होंने मनुष्य पर यह प्रकाशित किया, “इसे समझ लो प्रभु के प्रति भय, यही है बुद्धि, तथा बुराइयों से दूरी बनाए रखना ही समझदारी है.”
