Job 24
1 Wherefore, since from the Almighty times are not hid, have, his knowing ones, no vision of his days?
“¿Por qué el Todopoderoso no establece un tiempo definido para castigar a los malvados? ¿Por qué los que le siguen nunca le ven actuar en juicio?
2 Boundaries, men move back, flocks, they seize and consume;
Los malvados mueven linderos; se apoderan de los rebaños ajenos y los trasladan a sus propios pastos.
3 The ass of the fatherless, they drive off, they take in pledge the ox of the widow;
Roban el asno del huérfano; toman el buey de la viuda como garantía de una deuda.
4 They turn aside the needy out of the way, at once, are the humbled of the land made to hide themselves.
Apartan a los pobres de su camino; los indigentes se ven obligados a esconderse de ellos.
5 Lo! [as] wild asses in the wilderness, they go forth with their work, eager seekers for prey, the waste plain, yieldeth them food for their young;
Como burros salvajes en el desierto, los pobres tienen que rebuscar su comida, buscando cualquier cosa para alimentar a sus hijos en el páramo.
6 In the field—a man’s fodder, they cut down, and, the vineyard of the lawless, they strip of its late berries;
Se ven obligados a encontrar lo que pueden en los campos ajenos, a espigar entre las viñas de los malvados.
7 Ill-clad, they are left to lodge without clothing, and have no covering in the cold;
Pasan la noche desnudos porque no tienen ropa; no tienen nada para cubrirse del frío.
8 With the sweeping rain of the mountains, are they wet, and, through having no shelter, they embrace a rock.
Están empapados por las frías tormentas de la montaña, y se acurrucan junto a las rocas para refugiarse.
9 Men tear, from the breast, the fatherless, and, over the poor, they take a pledge;
Los niños sin padre son arrebatados de los pechos de sus madres, tomando a los bebés de los pobres como garantía de una deuda.
10 Naked, they go about without clothing, and, famished, they carry the sheaves;
Como no tienen ropa que ponerse, tienen que ir desnudos, cosechando gavillas de grano mientras ellos mismos tienen hambre.
11 Between their walls, are they exposed to the sun, Wine-presses, they tread, and yet are thirsty;
En los olivares trabajan para producir aceite, pero no lo prueban; pisan el lagar, pero tienen sed.
12 Out of the city—out of the houses, they make outcry. and, the soul of the wounded, calleth for help, and, GOD, doth not regard it as foolish.
En la ciudad los moribundos gimen y los heridos claman por ayuda, pero Dios ignora sus oraciones.
13 They, have become rebels against the light, —they are not acquainted with the ways thereof, neither abide they in the paths thereof.
“Son personas que se rebelan contra la luz. No quieren conocer sus caminos, ni permanecer en sus sendas.
14 With the light, riseth the murderer, He slayeth the poor and needy, And, in the night, he becometh like a thief.
El asesino se levanta al amanecer para matar al pobre y al necesitado, y cuando cae la noche se convierte en ladrón.
15 And, the eye of the adulterer, watcheth for the evening twilight, saying, Not an eye will see me! A covering for the face, he putteth on;
El adúltero espera el anochecer, diciéndose a sí mismo: ‘Ahora nadie me verá’, y se cubre el rostro.
16 He breaketh, in the dark, into houses, —By day, they lock themselves in, They know not the light;
Los ladrones entran en las casas durante la noche y duermen durante el día. Ni siquiera saben cómo es la luz.
17 For, in the case of all such, morning to them is the death-shade, For, to be recognised, is a death-shade terror.
La oscuridad total es para ellos como la luz, pues están familiarizados con la noche.
18 Swift is he on the face of the waters, Speedily vanished their share in the land, He turneth not to the way of the vineyards.
“Como las burbujas en la superficie de un río son rápidamente arrastrados. La tierra que poseen está maldita por Dios. No entran en sus propios viñedos.
Así como el calor y la sequía secan el deshielo, el Seol se lleva a los que han pecado. (Sheol h7585)
20 Maternal love shall forget him, the worm shall find him sweet, No more shall he be remembered, but perversity shall be shivered like a tree.
Hasta sus madres los olvidan, los gusanos se dan un festín con ellos, ya no se acuerdan de ellos, y su maldad se vuelve como un árbol que se rompe en pedazos.
21 He oppresseth the barren who beareth not, and, to the widow, he doeth not good;
Maltratan a las mujeres sin hijos y son mezquinos con las viudas.
22 Yea he draggeth along the mighty by his strength, He riseth up, and none hath assurance of life;
Dios prolonga la vida de los malvados con su poder; pero cuando se levantan, no tienen seguridad de vida.
23 It is given him to be secure, and confident, yet, his eyes, are upon their ways.
Los apoya y les da seguridad, pero siempre está vigilando lo que hacen.
24 They are exalted a little, and are not, Yea having been laid low, like all men, are they gathered, Even as the top of an ear of corn, do they hang down.
Aunque sean ilustres por un tiempo, pronto desaparecen. Son derribados como todos los demás, cortados como las cabezas de los granos.
25 But, if not, who then can convict me of falsehood? or make of no account my words?
Si no es así, ¿quién puede demostrar que soy un mentiroso y que no hay nada en lo que digo?”
