Job 15
1 Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
Ndipo Elifazi Mtemani alijibu na kusema,
2 Should, a wise man, answer unreal knowledge? or fill, with the east wind, his inner man?
Mtu mwenye hekima anapaswa kujibu kwa maarifa yasiyofaa na kujijaza mwenyewe na upepo wa mashariki?
3 Disputing with discourse that doth no good, or with speech, wherein is no profit?
Anapaswa kuhojiana na mazungumzo yasiyo na faida au na hotuba ambazo kwa hizo yeye hawezi kufanya mema?
4 But, thou, wouldst take away reverence, and wouldst attain unto meditation before GOD.
Dhahiri, wewe wafifisha heshima ya Mungu; Wewe wazuia heshima kwa yeye,
5 For thine own mouth would teach thine iniquity, and thou wouldst choose the tongue of the crafty.
kwa maana uovu wako hufundisha midomo yako; Wewe wachagua kuwa na ulimi wa mtu mwenye hila.
6 Thine own mouth shall condemn thee, and, not I, And, thine own lips, shall testify against thee.
Mdomo wako mwenyewe hukukukumu wewe, siyo wangu; hakika, midomo yako mwenyewe hushuhudia dhidi yako wewe.
7 The first of mankind, wast thou born? Or, before the hills, wast thou brought forth?
Je, wewe ni mwanadamu wa kwanza ambaye aliyezaliwa? Wewe ulikuwepo kabla ya vilima kuwepo?
8 In the secret council of GOD, hast thou been wont to hearken? Or canst thou attain for thyself unto wisdom?
Wewe Umewahi kusikia maarifa ya siri ya Mungu? Je, wewe wajihesabia mwenye hekima wewe mwenyewe?
9 What knowest thou, that we know not? [What] understandest thou, and the same, is not with us?
Ni kitu gani unachokifahamu wewe ambacho sisi hatukijui? Ni kitu gani unachokifahamu wewe ambacho hakiko katika sisi?
10 Both hoary and venerable, are among us, one mightier than thy father in days!
Pamoja nasi wapo pia wenye mvi na watu wazee sana ambao ni wazee zaidi kuliko baba yako.
11 Too small for thee, are the consolations of GOD? or a word spoken gently with thee?
Je, faraja ya Mungu ni ndogo sana kwako, maneno ambayo ni ya upole dhidi yako wewe?
12 How doth thine own heart carry thee away, and how thine eyes do roll!
Kwa nini moyo wako wewe unakupeleka mbali? Kwa nini macho yako yananga'ra,
13 For thy spirit, replieth against GOD, and thou bringest forth—out of thy mouth—words!
ili ya kwamba kuirejesha roho yako kwa Mungu na kuyatoa maneno hayo kutoka katika mdomo wako?
14 What is a mortal, that he should be pure? or that righteous should be one born of a woman?
Je, mwanadamu yeye ni nini kwamba yeye anapaswa kuwa safi? Yeye mwanadamu aliyezaliwa na mwanamke ni nini kwamba yeye anapaswa awe mwenye haki?
15 Lo! in his holy ones, he putteth not confidence, and, the heavens, are not pure in his eyes:
Tazama, Mungu haweki tumaini lake hata kwa mmoja wake aliye mtakatifu; Hakika, mbingu haziko safi machoni pake yeye;
16 How much less when one is detested and corrupt, a man who drinketh in—like water—perversity.
jinsi gani asivyo safi ni mmoja aliye mbaya na mla rushwa, mtu ambaye hunywa uovu kama maji!
17 I will tell thee—hear me, Since this I have seen, I must needs declare it.
Mimi nitakuonyesha wewe; Nisikilize mimi; Mimi nitakutangazia wewe vitu ambavyo nimeviona,
18 Which, wise men, tell, and deny not [that which is] from their fathers.
vitu ambavyo watu wenye hekima wamepita chini yake kutoka kwa baba zao, vile vitu ambavyo mababu zao hawakuvificha.
19 To them alone, was the earth given, and no alien passed through their midst:
Hawa walikuwa mababu zao, ambao kwao pekee nchi walipewa, na miongoni mwao hakuna mgeni aliyepita.
20 All the days of the lawless man, he, doth writhe with pain, and, the number of years, is hidden from the tyrant;
Mtu mwovu hupitia katika maumivu siku zake zote, idadi ya miaka iliyowekwa juu kwa mtesaji kuteseka.
21 A noise of dreadful things, is in his ears, In prosperity, the destroyer cometh upon him;
Sauti ya vitisho katika masikio yake; pindi yeye yuko katika kufanikiwa, mharibu atakuja juu yake yeye.
22 He hath no confidence to come back out of darkness, he, being destined to the power oft the sword;
Yeye hafikiri kwamba yeye atarudi kutoka katika giza; Upanga humngojea yeye.
23 A wanderer, he, for bread, [saying] Where [is it]? He knoweth that, prepared by his own hand, is the day of darkness;
Yeye huenda sehemu mbali mbali kwa ajili ya mkate, akisema, 'Kiko wapi? ' Yeye anatambua kuwa siku ya giza iko mkononi.
24 Distress and anguish shall startle him, It shall overpower him, like a king ready for the onset:
Dhiki na mateso makali humfanya aogope; wao hushinda dhidi yake yeye, kama mfalme tayari kwa vita.
25 Because he had stretched out—against GOD—his hand, and, against the Almighty, had been wont to behave himself proudly;
Kwa sababu yeye ameunyosha mkono wake dhidi ya Mungu na ameishi kwa kiburi dhidi ya aliye mkuu,
26 He used to run against him with uplifted neck, with the stout bosses of his bucklers;
huyu mtu mwovu hukimbia kwa Mungu na shingo ngumu, kwa vifundo vikubwa vya ngao.
27 For he had covered his face with his fatness, and had gathered a superabundance on his loins;
Hii ni kweli, hata ingawa yeye amefunika uso wake kwa mafuta yake na amekusanya mafuta juu ya viuno vyake,
28 And had inhabited demolished cities, houses, wherein men would not dwell, that were destined to become heaps.
na ameishi katika miji yenye ukiwa; katika nyumba ambazo hakuna mwanadamu anayeishi humo sasa na ambazo zilikuwa tayari kuwa magofu.
29 He shall not be rich, nor shall his substance continue, neither shall their shadow stretch along on the earth;
Yeye hatakuwa tajiri; utajiri wake yeye hautadumu; hata kivuli chake hakitadumu katika nchi.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness, his young branch, shall the flame dry up, and he shall depart, by the breath of his own mouth!
Yeye hatatoka nje ya giza; mwali wa moto utakausha matawi yake; katika pumzi ya kinywa cha Mungu yeye ataenda zake.
31 Let no one trust in him that—by vanity—is deceived, for, vanity, shall be his recompense;
Mwacheni yeye asitumaini katika vitu visivyofanya kazi, akijidanganya yeye mwenyewe; maana upuuzi utakuwa mshahara wake yeye.
32 Before his day, shall it be accomplished, with, his palm-top, not covered with leaves;
Itatokea kabla ya wakati wake yeye atapaswa kufa; tawi lake halitakuwa kijani.
33 He shall wrong—like a vine—his sour grapes, and shall cast off—as an olive-tree—his blossom.
Yeye atazipukutisha zabibu zake zisizovunwa kama mzabibu; yeye atayaondoa maua yake kama mti wa mzeituni.
34 For, the family of the impious, is unfruitful, and, a fire, hath devoured the tents of bribery;
Kwa maana msaada wa watu wasiomcha Mungu utakuwa tasa; moto utateketeza hema za rushwa.
35 Conceiving mischief, and bringing forth iniquity, yea, their inmost soul, prepareth deceit.
Wao wanabeba mimba yenye ubaya na kuzaa uovu; tumbo lao hutunga mimba ya udanganifu.
