Jeremiah 5
1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, And see I pray you and know and seek out in the broad places thereof, Whether ye can find, a man, Whether there is one Doing justice Demanding fidelity, —That I may pardon her.
Pagdali ug adto sa kadalanan sa Jerusalem; pangita usab ngadto sa iyang mga plasa sa siyudad. Unya tan-awa ug paghunahuna mahitungod niini: Kung makakita ka ug tawo o bisan kinsa nga nagbuhat ug matarong ug nagmatinud-anon sa pagbuhat, pasayloon ko ang Jerusalem.
2 Even though they say By the life of Yahweh, Yet in fact falsely, do they swear.
Bisan tuod nag-ingon sila, 'Ingon nga buhi si Yahweh,' apan bakak diay sila nga nanumpa.”
3 O Yahweh! thine own eyes, are they not directed to fidelity? Thou hast smitten them Yet have they not grieved, Thou hast consumed them—They have refused to receive correction, —They have made their faces bolder than a cliff, They have refused to return.
Yahweh, dili ba nagtan-aw man ang imong mga mata alang sa pagkamatinud-anon? Gisilotan nimo ang mga tawo, apan wala nila nabati ang kasakit. Gibuntog nimo sila sa hingpit, apan nagdumili gihapon sila sa pagdawat ug pagpanton. Gipagahi nila ang ilang mga nawong kaysa bato, ug nagdumili sila sa paghinulsol.
4 And, I, said, —Only, poor people, are they, —They act foolishly, For they know not the way of Yahweh, the justice of their God!
Busa miingon ako, “Tinuod nga kabos lamang kini nga mga tawo. Mga buangbuang sila, kay wala sila nasayod sa mga paagi ni Yahweh, ni sa mga sugo sa ilang Dios.
5 I will betake me unto the great men, and will speak, with them! For, they, know the way of Yahweh, the justice of their God! Yea but, they, with one accord have broken the yoke, torn off the bands.
Moadto ako sa mahinungdanon nga mga tawo ug ipahayag ang mga mensahe sa Dios ngadto kanila, aron nga masayod sila sa mga paagi ni Yahweh, ang mga kasugoan sa ilang Dios.” Apan gibali nilang tanan ang ilang yugo; ug gibugto nila ang mga kadena nga naghiusa kanila ngadto sa Dios.
6 For this cause, hath the lion out of the forest smitten them, The wolf of the waste plains, preyeth upon them, The leopard, is keeping watch over their cities, Every one that goeth out from thence, is torn in pieces, —For they have multiplied their transgressions, Numerous are their apostasies.
Busa hasmagan sila sa liyon nga gikan sa kalibonan. Laglagon sila sa lobo nga gikan sa Araba. Moabot ang leopardo nga maoy magtukaw batok sa ilang mga siyudad. Pagakuniskunison ang bisan kinsa nga mogawas sa siyudad niini. Kay nagkadaghan ang ilang kalapasan. Walay puas ang ilang pagkawalay pagtuo.
7 How, for this, can I pardon thee? Thine own sons, have forsaken me, And have sworn by No-gods, —When I had fed them to the full, Then committed they adultery, And the house of the unchaste woman, they used to throng:
Nganong pasayloon ko man kining mga tawhana? Gisalikway ako sa inyong mga anak nga lalaki ug naghimo ug mga panumpa sa dili mga dios. Gipakaon nako sila pag-ayo, apan nanapaw sila ug nagpanon ngadto sa mga balay sa mga nagbaligyag dungog.
8 Lusty, well-fed horses, had they become, Every man unto his neighbour’s wife, would neigh!
Nahisama sila sa mga kabayo nga nanginit. Nangita sila ug kahabalan. Nagbahihi ang tagsatagsa ka tawo ngadto sa asawa sa iyang silingan.
9 For these things, shall I not punish? Demandeth Yahweh: Yea on a nation such as this, must not my soul avenge herself?
Busa dili ba nako sila silotan—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh— ug dili ba ako manimalos alang sa akong kaugalingon sa nasod nga sama niini?
10 Scale ye her walls and destroy, But a full end, do not make, —Remove her tendrils, For not to Yahweh, do, they, belong!
Tungas sa iyang naghagdanhagdan nga parasan ug laglaga. Apan ayaw sila laglaga sa hingpit. Pul-ongi ang ilang mga paras, sanglit wala man naggikan kang Yahweh kadto nga mga paras.
11 For very treacherously, have the house of Israel and the house of Judah dealt with me, Declareth Yahweh.
Kay ang mga panimalay sa Israel ug sa Juda nagbudhi gayod kanako sa hingpit—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh.
12 They have acted deceptively against Yahweh, And have said, Not He! Neither shall there come upon us, calamity, Nor sword nor famine, shall we see;
Nagsulti sila ug mga bakak mahitungod kang Yahweh ug miingon sila, “Wala siyay buhaton; walay kadaot nga moabot kanato, ug dili kita makakita ug espada o kagutom.
13 But the prophets, shall prove to be wind, And there is no one speaking in them, —Thus, shall it be done to themselves!
Mahimong hangin ang mga propeta, ug wala ang pulong diha kanila, busa tugoti nga matuman diha kanila ang ilang gipanulti.”
14 Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of hosts, Because ye have spoken this word, —Behold me! making my words in thy mouth to be fire, And, this people, —wood, So shall it devour them.
Busa si Yahweh, ang Dios nga labawng makagagahom nagsulti niini, “Tungod kay misulti ka niini, tan-awa, ibutang ko ang akong pulong diha sa imong baba. Sama kini sa kalayo, ug sama sa kahoy kining katawhan! Kay lamyon sila niini.
15 Behold me! bringing upon you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, —A nation invincible, it is, A nation from age-past times, hath it been, A nation whose tongue thou shalt not know, Neither shalt thou understand what it speaketh:
Tan-awa! Magpadala ako ug nasod batok kaninyo nga gikan sa layo, balay sa Israel—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh—molungtad kini nga nasod, ang karaan nga nasod! Mao kini ang nasod nga wala nimo nasayran ang pinulongan, ni masabtan nimo kung unsa ang ilang giingon.
16 Its quiver, is like an open sepulchre, —They all, are heroes:
Ang baslayan niini sama sa naabli nga lubnganan. Mga sundalo silang tanan.
17 Then shall it eat thy harvest and thy bread which thy sons and thy daughters should eat, —It shall eat thy flock and thy herd, It shall eat thy vine and thy fig-tree, —It shall destroy thy defenced cities wherein thou, art trusting, with the sword.
Busa mahurot ang inyong inani, ang inyo usab nga mga anak nga lalaki ug mga anak nga babaye, ug ang inyong pagkaon. Pangkaonon nila ang inyong mga kahayopan ug mga baka; kaonon nila ang bunga gikan sa inyong parasan ug bunga sa mga kahoy nga igera. Lumpagon nila pinaagi sa espada ang inyong lig-on nga mga siyudad nga inyong gisaligan.
18 Yet, even in those days, Declareth Yahweh, Will I not make of you, a full end.
Apan bisan pa niadtong mga adlawa—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh—dili nako buot nga laglagon kamo sa hingpit.
19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, For what cause hath Yahweh our God done to us all these things? Then shalt thou say unto them, —As ye forsook me, and served the gods of the foreigner in your own land, So, shall ye serve aliens in a land not your own.
Sa dihang miingon kamo, Israel ug Juda, 'Nganong gibuhat man ni Yahweh nga atong Dios kining mga butanga dinhi kanato?' unya ikaw, Jeremias, mosulti ngadto kanila, 'Ingon nga inyong gisalikway si Yahweh ug nag-alagad sa mga langyaw nga dios diha sa inyong yuta, busa kinahanglan mag-alagad usab kamo sa mga dumuduong diha sa yuta nga dili inyo.
20 Tell ye this, throughout the house of Jacob, —And let it be heard throughout Judah saying:
Isugid kini ngadto sa balay ni Jacob ug tugoti nga madungog kini sa Juda. Pag-ingon,
21 Hear this, I pray you ye people—foolish and without heart, —Eyes, have they, and see not, Ears, have they, and hear not!
'Pamatia kini, kamong buangbuang nga katawhan nga walay panabot, nga adunay mga mata apan dili makakita, ug aduna kamoy mga dalunggan apan dili makadungog.
22 Even for me, will ye have no reverence? Enquireth Yahweh, And because of me, will ye not be pained? In that though I placed the sand as a bound to the sea, A decree age-abiding, and it should not pass beyond it, —When they would toss themselves Then should they not prevail, When the waves thereof would roar Then should they not pass beyond it,
Wala ba kamo nahadlok kanako—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh—o nangurog sa akong atubangan? Nagbutang ako ug balas aron mahimong utlanan sa dagat, ang mapadayonon nga sugo nga dili gayod supakon niini—bisan pa ug motaob ug mohunas ang dagat, dili gayod kini mosupak. Bisan pa ug modahunog ang mga balod, dili sila molapas niini.
23 Yet, this people hath an obstinate and rebellious heart, —They have turned aside, and gone their way;
Apan tig-a ang kasingkasing niini nga katawhan. Hinungdan nga nagmasupilon kini ug nagpalayo.
24 Neither have they said in their heart, —Let us we pray you, revere Yahweh our God, Who giveth rain, even the early and the latter, in its season, —The appointed weeks of harvest, he reserveth for us.
Kay wala sila miingon sa ilang mga kasingkasing, “Kahadlokan nato si Yahweh nga atong Dios, nga maoy naghatag ug ulan —ang sayo nga ulan ug ang dugay nga ulan—sa hustong panahon niini, nagtipig ug tukmang mga semana sa pag-ani alang kanato.
25 Your iniquities, have thrust away these things, Yea, your sins, have withholden that which is good from you.
Ang inyong mga kalapasan maoy nagpugong niining mga butanga nga mahitabo. Ang inyong mga sala maoy nagpahunong sa maayo nga moabot kaninyo.
26 For there have been found among my people lawless men, —One lieth in wait, as with the stooping of fowlers, They have set a trap, they capture men:
Kay nakaplagan ang daotan nga kalalakin-an nga uban sa akong katawhan. Nagbantay sila nga daw sama sa naghapa nga tawo aron modakop ug mga langgam; nag-andam sila ug lit-ag sa pagdakop sa katawhan.
27 As, a cage, is full of birds, So, are, their houses, full of unrighteous gain, —For this cause, have they become great and waxen rich:
Sama sa hawla nga napuno sa mga langgam, napuno usab ug limbong ang ilang mga balay. Busa midako sila ug nadato.
28 They have waxed fat, they shine Yea they have overpassed the records of wickedness. The right, have they not determined, the right of the fatherless that they might prosper, —Yea justice to the helpless, have they not decreed.
Nanambok sila; nihamis sila ug nahimsog. Gilatas nila ang tanang bahin sa pagkadaotan. Wala nila labani ang katungod sa katawhan, o ang katungod sa mga ilo. Nagmauswagon sila bisan wala sila naghatag ug hustisya ngadto sa nagkinahanglan.
29 Upon these things, shall I not bring punishment? Demandeth Yahweh. Or, on a nation such as this, shall not my soul avenge herself?
Dili ko ba sila silotan alang niining mga butanga—mao kini ang pahayag ni Yahweh—ug dili ba ako manimalos alang sa akong kaugalingong nasod nga sama niini?
30 An astounding and horrible thing, hath been brought to pass in the land:
Midagsang ang kabangis ug ang kalisang diha sa yuta.
31 The prophets, have prophesied, falsely, And the priests tread down by their means, And, my people, love it, so, —What then can ye do as to her latter end?
Nanagna ang mga propeta ug bakak, ug nagdumala ang mga pari pinaagi sa ilang kaugalingong gahom. Nahigugma ang akong katawhan niini nga paagi, apan unsa man ang mahitabo sa kaulahian?”
