< Jeremiah 47 >

1 So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah the prophet, Against the Philistines, —before Pharaoh smote Gaza:
Ko e folofola ʻa Sihova ʻaia naʻe hoko kia Selemaia ko e palōfita ki he kau Filisitia, ʻi he teʻeki ai ke taaʻi ʻe Felo ʻa Kesa.
2 Thus, saith Yahweh—Lo! waters rising from the North And they shall become a torrent overflowing, Which shall overflow The land and the fulness thereof, The city, and the dwellers therein, —Then shall men make outcry, And all the inhabitants of the land, howl.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Vakai, ʻoku tupu ʻae ngaahi vai mei he tokelau, pea ʻe hoko ia ko e vai fonu mahakehake lahi, pea ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae fonua pea mo e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi ai: ko e kolo mo kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi ai: pea ʻe toki tangi ʻae kau tangata, pea ʻe tangilāulau ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fonua.
3 Because of the sound of the tramping of the hoofs of his chargers, Because of the rushing of his chariots, the rumbling of his wheels Fathers shall not turn, to children, Because of the unnerving of their hands;
Ko e meʻa ʻi he patatū ʻae vaʻe ʻoe fanga hoosi mālohi, mo e meʻa ʻi he lele ʻae ngaahi saliote, pea mo e longoaʻa ʻo ʻene ngaahi saliote, ʻe ʻikai sio ki mui ʻae ngaahi tamai ki heʻenau fānau ko e meʻa ʻi he vaivai ʻa honau nima;
4 On account of the day that cometh to lay waste all the Philistines, To cut off from Tyre and Zidon every escaped one that could have helped, —For Yahweh is laying waste the Philistines, The remnant of the Coastland of Caphtor.
Koeʻuhi ko e ʻaho ʻaia ʻoku haʻu ke fakaʻauha ai ʻae kau Filisitia kotoa pē, pea ke tuʻusi mei Taia mo Saitone ʻae tokoni kotoa pē ʻaia ʻoku toe: koeʻuhi ʻe fakaʻauha ʻe Sihova ʻae kau Filisitia, ko e toenga ʻoe fonua ko Kafitoli.
5 Baldness hath come, upon Gaza, Silenced is Ashkelon the remnant of their vale, —How long, wilt thou cut thyself?
Kuo hoko ʻae tula ki Kesa; kuo tuʻusi ʻa ʻAsikiloni mo e toenga ʻi honau teleʻa: ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻo hoʻo maumauʻi koe ʻe koe?
6 Ah! thou sword of Yahweh, How long, wilt thou not be quiet? Withdraw into thy scabbard, Rest thyself and be still.
“‘ʻA koe ko e heletā ʻo Sihova, ʻE fēfē hono fuoloa pea ke toki fiemālie? Ke ke ʻai koe ki ho ʻaiʻanga, pea mālōlō, mo fiemālie.
7 How, can it be quiet, when, Yahweh, hath given it a charge, —against Ashkelon and against the shore of the sea? There, hath he appointed it!
“ʻE fēfē ʻene fiemālie, he kuo fekauʻi ia ʻe Sihova ki ʻAsikiloni, pea mo e matātahi? Kuo ne tuʻutuʻuni ia ki ai.”
