Jeremiah 40
1 The thing that happened unto Jeremiah, from Yahweh, after Nebuzaradan chief of the royal executioners had let him go from Ramah, —when he had taken him, he having been bound in fetters in the midst of all the captive-host of Jerusalem, and Judah, who were being carried away captive to Babylon.
Das Wort, welches geschah an Jirmejahu von Jehovah, nachdem Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann der Leibwachen, ihn aus Ramah entsandt hatte. Als man ihn holte, da war er in Ketten gebunden inmitten all der Weggeführten Jerusalems und Jehudahs, die nach Babel weggeführt wurden.
2 So then the, chief of the royal executioners took Jeremiah, —and said unto him, Yahweh thy God had threatened this calamity against this place;
Und der Hauptmann der Leibwachen nahm Jirmejahu und sprach zu ihm: Jehovah, dein Gott, hat dieses Böse über diesen Ort geredet;
3 and so Yahweh hath brought it about and done it just as he threatened, —for ye have sinned against Yahweh, and have not hearkened unto his voice, and so this thing hath befallen you.
Und Jehovah hat es kommen lassen und getan, wie Er geredet; denn ihr habt gesündigt wider Jehovah und nicht gehört auf Seine Stimme, und es geschah euch nach diesem Wort.
4 Now, therefore, lo! I have loosed thee today, from the fetters which were upon thy hand: If it be good in thine eyes to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will set mine eyes upon thee, but if evil in thine eyes to come with me into Babylon, forbear, —see! all the land, is before thee, whither it may be good and right in thine eyes to go, thither, go!
Und nun siehe, ich mache dir heute die Ketten an deiner Hand auf. Wenn es in deinen Augen gut ist, mit mir nach Babel zu kommen, komm, und ich will mein Auge auf dich setzen. Wenn es aber in deinen Augen böse ist, mit mir nach Babel zu kommen, unterlaß es. Siehe, das ganze Land ist vor dir. Wohin es gut und recht ist in deinen Augen zu gehen, dahin gehe!
5 And ere yet he could make reply—Go thou back then unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath set in charge over the cities of Judah, and dwell thou with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it may be right in thine eyes to go, go! So the chief of the royal executioners gave him an allowance and a present and let him go.
Und noch hatte er nicht erwidert - Und kehre zu Gedaljah, dem Sohne Achikams, dem Sohne Schaphans, zurück, den der König von Babel über die Städte Jehudahs bestellt, und wohne mit ihm inmitten des Volkes, oder gehe irgendwohin, wohin zu gehen in deinen Augen recht ist. Und der Hauptmann der Leibwachen gab ihm Unterhalt und eine Ehrengabe und entsandte ihn.
6 Then came Jeremiah unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him in the midst of the people who were left in the land.
Und Jirmejahu kam zu Gedaljah, dem Sohne Achikams nach Mizpah und wohnte mit ihm inmitten des Volkes, das im Land verblieben war.
7 Now, when all the captains of the forces which were in the field—they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had set Gedaliah son of Ahikam in charge over the land, —and that he had committed to him men and women and children, and the poor of the land of those who had not been carried away captive to Babylon,
Und alle Obersten der Streitmächte, so auf dem Felde waren, sie und ihre Männer, hörten, daß der König von Babel, Gedaljahu, Achikams Sohn, im Land bestellt und ihm anvertraut hatte Männer und Weiber und Kindlein und die Armen des Landes, die nicht nach Babel weggeführt worden.
8 then came they in unto Gedaliah in Mizpah, —both Ishmael son of Nethaniah and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.
Und sie kamen zu Gedaljah nach Mizpah, und Jischmael, Sohn Nethanjahus und Jochanan und Jonathan, die Söhne Kareachs, und Serajah, Sohn des Tanchumeth, und Ephais Söhne, des Netophathiters, und Jesanjahu, Maachathis Sohn und ihre Männer.
9 Then Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan sware unto them, and to their men saying, Do not be afraid of serving the Chaldeans, —dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon that it may be well with you.
Und Gedaljahu, der Sohn Achikams, des Sohnes Schaphans, schwur ihnen und ihren Leuten und sprach: Fürchtet euch nicht den Chaldäern zu dienen; wohnet im Lande und dient dem König Babels, so wird es gut mit euch sein.
10 But as for me, behold me! remaining in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who may come unto us, Ye, however, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities which ye have seized.
Und siehe, ich bleibe in Mizpah, zu stehen vor den Chaldäern, die werden zu uns kommen. Und ihr sammelt Wein und Obst und Öl ein und tut sie in eure Gefäße, und wohnt in euren Städten, die ihr eingenommen habt.
11 Likewise also, all the Jews, who were in Moab and among the sons of Ammon and in Edom and who were in any of the lands, when they heard that the king of Babylon had granted a remnant to Judah, and that he had set in charge over them Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan,
Und auch alle Juden, die in Moab und unter den Söhnen Ammons und in Edom und in allen Ländern waren, hörten, daß der König Babels Jehudah einen Überrest gegeben und über sie Gedaljahu, den Sohn Achikams, des Sohnes Schaphans, bestellt hatte.
12 yea, then returned all the Jews out of all the places whither they had been driven, and came into the land of Judah unto Gedaliah, in Mizpah, —and gathered wine and summer fruits in great abundance.
Und alle Juden kehrten zurück von allen Orten, wohin sie verstoßen waren, und kamen in das Land Jehudah zu Gedaljah nach Mizpah, und sammelten Wein und Obst sehr viel.
13 But, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the princes of the forces which were in the field, came unto Gedaliah in Mizpah,
Und Jochanan, der Sohn Kareachs, und alle Obersten der Streitmächte, die auf dem Felde waren, kamen zu Gedaljahu nach Mizpah,
14 and said unto him—Dost thou at all know, that, Baalis, king of the sons of Ammon, hath sent Ishmael son of Nethaniah, to smite thee to death? But Gedaliah son of Ahikam, believed them not.
Und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, daß Baalis, der König der Söhne Ammons, Jischmael, Nethanjahs Sohn, gesandt, dir die Seele zu erschlagen? Und Gedaljah, Achikams Sohn, glaubte ihnen nicht.
15 Then, Johanan son of Kareah, spake unto Gedaliah secretly, in Mizpah, saying, —Let me go I pray thee, and smite Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and not, a man, shall know it, —wherefore should he smite thee to death, and all Judah who have gathered themselves unto thee, be dispersed, and the remnant of Judah perish?
Und Jochanan, der Sohn Kareachs, sprach zu Gedaljah insgeheim in Mizpah und sprach: Laß mich doch gehen und Jischmael, den Sohn Nethanjahs schlagen, und kein Mann soll es wissen. Warum doch soll er dir die Seele schlagen und wir zerstreut werden, ganz Jehudah, die wir zu dir zusammengekommen sind, und der Überrest Jehudahs verlorengehen?
16 Then said Gedaliah son of Ahikam unto Johanan son of Kareah, Thou mayest not do this thing, —for, falsely, art thou speaking against Ishmael.
Und Gedaljah, der Sohn Achikams, sprach zu Jochanan, Kareachs Sohn: Tue nicht nach diesem Wort; denn Lügen redest du wider Jischmael.
