Jeremiah 22
1 Thus, said Yahweh, Go thou down to the house of king of Judah, and speak thou there this word,
यह याहवेह का आदेश है: “यहूदिया के राजा के आवास पर जाओ और वहां इस वचन का प्रचार करो:
2 and say—Hear thou the word of Yahweh O king of Judah who sittest upon the throne of David, —thou, and thy servants and thy people who enter in at these gates,
‘यहूदिया के राजा, याहवेह का यह संदेश सुनो, तुम जो दावीद के सिंहासन पर विराजमान हो, तुम, तुम्हारे सेवक एवं तुम्हारी प्रजा जो इन द्वारों से होकर प्रवेश करते हो.
3 Thus, saith Yahweh, —Execute ye justice, and righteousness, And deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, —But the sojourner the fatherless, and the widow, do not oppress neither commit violence, And the blood of the innocent, do not ye shed, in this place.
यह याहवेह का आदेश है: तुम्हारा न्याय निस्सहाय हो. व्यवहार सद्वृत्त तथा उसे मुक्त कर दो जिसे अत्याचारियों ने अपने अधीन रख लूट लिया है. इसके सिवा विदेशी, पितृहीन तथा विधवा के प्रति न तो तुम्हारा व्यवहार प्रतिकूल हो और न हिंसक, इस स्थान पर निस्सहाय की हत्या न की जाए.
4 For if ye, indeed do, this thing, then shall there enter into the gates of this house—kings, sitting for David upon his throne riding in chariots and on horses, he and his servants, and his people.
क्योंकि यदि तुम जो पुरुष हो, वास्तव में इन विषयों को ध्यान रखो, इनका आचरण करो, तो इस भवन के द्वार में से राजाओं का प्रवेश हुआ करेगा, वे दावीद के सदृश उनके सिंहासन पर विराजमान हुआ करेंगे, जो रथों एवं घोड़ों पर सवार होते हैं स्वयं राजा को, उसके सेवकों को तथा उसकी प्रजा का प्रवेश हुआ करेगा.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, By myself have I sworn Declareth Yahweh—That, a ruin, shall this house become.
किंतु यदि तुम इन आदेशों का पालन न करो, तो मैं अपनी ही शपथ ले रहा हूं, यह याहवेह की वाणी है, कि यह महल उजाड़ बन जाएगा.’”
6 For Thus, saith Yahweh Concerning the house of the king of Judah, —Though thou wast Gilead, to me, The summit of Lebanon, Yet surely I will make thee, A wilderness, Cities, not habitable;
क्योंकि यहूदिया के राजा के महलों के विषय में याहवेह की यह वाणी है: “मेरी दृष्टि में तुम गिलआद सदृश हो, लबानोन शिखर सदृश, फिर भी निश्चयतः मैं तुम्हें निर्जन प्रदेश बना छोडूंगा, उन नगरों के सदृश, जो निर्जन हैं.
7 And I will hallow against thee Destroyers Every man with his weapons, —And they shall cut down of the choicest of thy cedars, and cast upon the fire.
मैं तुम्हारे विरुद्ध विध्वंसक उत्पन्न कर दूंगा, उनमें से हर एक शस्त्रों से सुसज्जित होगा, वे तुम्हारे सर्वोत्तम देवदार वृक्ष काट डालेंगे तथा उन्हें अग्नि में झोंक देंगे.
8 Then shall many nations pass by this city, —and shall say, every man to his neighbour, For what cause, hath Yahweh done thus, unto this great city?
“अनेक जनता इस नगर के निकट से होते हुए चले जाएंगे और उनके वार्तालाप का विषय होगा, ‘याहवेह ने इस भव्य नगर के साथ ऐसा कर दिया है?’
9 And they shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of Yahweh, their God, —And bowed down to other gods And served them.
तब उन्हें इसका यह उत्तर दिया जाएगा: ‘इसकी इस स्थिति का कारण यह है कि उन्होंने याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर की वाचा भंग कर दी है, वे परकीय देवताओं की उपासना करने लगे तथा उन्हीं की सेवा-उपासना करने लगे हैं.’”
10 Do not ye lament for him that is dead Neither bemoan ye, him, But weep ye—weep on—for him that is going away, For he shall not return any more Nor see the land of his birth.
न तो मृतक के लिए रोओ और न विलाप करो; बल्कि, ज़ोर ज़ोर से विलाप करो, उसके लिए जो बंधुआई में दूर जा रहा है, क्योंकि वह अब लौटकर नहीं आएगा, और न वह कभी अपनी मातृभूमि को पुनः देख सकेगा.
11 For Thus, saith Yahweh—Touching Shallum, son of Josiah king of Judah, That reigneth instead of Josiah his father, Who hath gone forth out of this place, He shall not return thither any more;
क्योंकि यहूदिया के राजा योशियाह के पुत्र शल्लूम के विषय में, जो अपने पिता योशियाह के स्थान पर सिंहासनारूढ़ हुआ है, जो यहीं से चला गया है: याहवेह का यह संदेश है, “अब वह लौटकर यहां कभी नहीं आएगा.
12 For in the place whither they have taken him captive, There, shall he die, —And this land, shall he see no more.
वह वहीं रह जाएगा जहां उसे बंदी बनाकर ले जाया गया है, वहीं उसकी मृत्यु हो जाएगी; अब वह यह देश कभी न देख सकेगा.”
13 Alas! for him who buildeth his house without righteousness, And his roof-chambers without justice, —Of his neighbour, taketh service for nought, And recompense for his work, giveth him not.
“धिक्कार है उस पर जो अनैतिकता से अपना गृह-निर्माण करता है, तथा अपने ऊपरी कक्ष अन्यायपूर्णता के द्वारा बनाता है, जो अपने पड़ोसी से बेगार कार्य तो करा लेता है, और उसे पारिश्रमिक नहीं देता.
14 Who saith—I will build me a roomy house, with spacious roof-chambers, —So he cutteth him open its windows, And it is covered in with cedar, And he painteth it with vermilion.
वह विचार करता है, ‘मैं एक विस्तीर्ण भवन को निर्माण करूंगा जिसमें विशाल ऊपरी कक्ष होंगे.’ इसमें खिड़कियां भी होंगी, मैं इसकी दीवारों को देवदार से मढ़ कर उन्हें प्रखर लाल रंग से रंग दूंगा.
15 Shalt thou reign, because, thou, art eager to excel in cedar? Thy father, did he not eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness, And, then, it was well with him?
“क्या अपने भवन में देवदार का प्रचूर प्रयोग करने के कारण तुम राजा के पद पर पहुंच गए हो? क्या तुम्हारा पिता सर्वसंपन्न न था? फिर भी उसने वही किया जो सही और न्यायपूर्ण था, इसलिये उसका कल्याण होता रहा.
16 [Did he not] plead the cause of the oppressed and the needy, And, then, it was well? Was not, that, to know, me? Demandeth Yahweh.
तुम्हारा पिता उत्पीड़ित एवं निस्सहायों का ध्यान रखता था, इसलिये उसका कल्याण होता रहा. क्या मुझे जानने का यही आशय नहीं होता?” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.
17 Verily thou hast neither eyes nor heart, save for thy plundering and for thy shedding of innocent blood, and for oppression and for crushing to do them!
“किंतु तुम्हारी दृष्टि तथा तुम्हारे हृदय की अभिलाषा मात्र अन्यायपूर्ण धनप्राप्ति पर केंद्रित है, तुम निस्सहाय के रक्तपात, दमन, ज़बरदस्ती धन वसूली और उपद्रव में लिप्त रहते हो.”
18 Therefore—Thus, saith Yahweh, Touching Jehoiakim son of Josiah King of Judah, They shall not cry in lament for him Alas my brother! or Alas sister! They shall not cry in lament for him Alas lord! or Alas! his renown!
इसलिये यहूदिया के राजा योशियाह के पुत्र यहोइयाकिम के विषय में याहवेह की यह वाणी है: “प्रजा उसके लिए इस प्रकार विलाप नहीं करेगी: ‘ओह, मेरे भाई! अथवा ओह, मेरी बहन!’ वे उसके लिए इस प्रकार भी विलाप नहीं करेंगे: ‘ओह, मेरे स्वामी! अथवा ओह, उसका वैभव!’
19 With the burial of an ass, shall he be buried, Dragged along and cast forth, beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
उसकी अंत्येष्टि उसी रीति से की जाएगी. जैसे एक गधे की शव को खींचकर येरूशलेम के द्वार के बाहर फेंक दिया जाता.”
20 Ascend the Lebanon and make outcry, And in Bashan, put forth thy voice, —And make outcry from Abarim, For all thy lovers are torn in pieces.
“लबानोन में जाकर विलाप करो, बाशान में उच्च स्वर उठाओ, अबारिम में भी विलाप सुना जाए, क्योंकि जो तुम्हें प्रिय थे उन्हें कुचल दिया गया है.
21 I spake unto thee, in thy carelessness, —Thou saidst I will not hearken! This hath been thy way from thy youth, That thou hast not hearkened to my voice.
तुम्हारी सम्पन्नता की स्थिति में मैंने तुमसे बात करना चाहा, किंतु तुम्हारा हठ था, ‘नहीं सुनूंगा मैं!’ बचपन से तुम्हारी यही शैली रही है; तुमने कभी मेरी नहीं सुनी.
22 All thy shepherds, the wind shall feed, And, thy lovers into captivity, shall depart, —Surely, then shalt thou turn pale and be confounded, by reason of all thy wickedness.
तुम्हारे सभी चरवाहों को वायु उड़ा ले जाएगी, वे जो तुम्हें प्रिय हैं, बंधुआई में चले जाएंगे. तब अपनी सारी बुराई के कारण निश्चयतः लज्जित हो तुम अपनी प्रतिष्ठा खो दोगे.
23 O inhabitress of Lebanon that makest thy nest in the cedars, —How hast thou bemoaned thyself Now that pangs have overtaken thee, Anguish, as of her that giveth birth.
तुम जो लबानोन में निवास कर रहे हो, तुम जो देवदार वृक्षों के मध्य सुरक्षित हो, कैसी होगी तुम्हारी कराहट जब पीड़ा तुम्हें अचंभित कर लेगी, ऐसी पीड़ा जैसी प्रसूता अनुभव करती है!”
24 As I live, Declareth Yahweh, —Even though Coniah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet-ring upon my right hand, yet, from thence, would I pull thee off;
यह याहवेह की वाणी है, “मैं अपने जीवन की शपथ खाकर कहता हूं, यदि यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम का पुत्र कोनियाह मेरे दाएं हाथ में मुद्रिका भी होता, फिर भी मैं उसे उतार फेंकता.
25 and I would give thee into the hand of them who seek thy life and into the hand of them from the face of whom, thou dost shrink in fear, —even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans;
मैं तुम्हें उन लोगों के हाथों में सौप दूंगा जो तुम्हारे प्राण लेने को तैयार हैं, हां, उन्हीं के हाथों में जो तुम्हारे लिए आतंक बने हुए हैं, अर्थात् बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र के तथा कसदियों के हाथों में.
26 and I will hurl thee out and thy mother who bare thee, upon another land where ye were not born, —and, there, shall ye die.
मैं तुम्हें तथा तुम्हारी माता को जिसने तुम्हें जन्म दिया है, ऐसे देश में प्रक्षेपित कर फेंक दूंगा, जहां तुम्हारा जन्म नहीं हुआ था और तुम्हारी मृत्यु वहीं हो जाएगी.
27 But unto the land whither they shall be lifting up their souls to return, thither, shall they not return.
किंतु वे अपने अभिलाषित देश को कदापि न लौट सकेंगे.”
28 An earthen vessel to be despised thrown about, is this man Coniah? Or an instrument, in which is no pleasure? Wherefore are they to be cast out, he and his seed, and to be thrown forth upon a land which they have not known?
क्या यह व्यक्ति, कोनियाह, चूर-चूर हो चुका घृणास्पद बर्तन है? अथवा वह एक तुच्छ बर्तन रह गया है? क्या कारण है कि उसे तथा उसके वंशजों को एक ऐसे देश में प्रक्षेपित कर दूर फेंक दिया गया है, जो उनके लिए सर्वथा अज्ञात था?
29 O land, land, land! Hear thou the word of Yahweh!
पृथ्वी, ओ पृथ्वी, याहवेह का आदेश सुनो!
30 Thus, saith Yahweh, —Register ye this man, childless, A man who shall not prosper in his days, —For there shall prosper of his seed No man sitting upon the throne of David, Or ruling any more over Judah.
याहवेह कह रहे हैं: “इस व्यक्ति का पंजीकरण संतानहीन व्यक्ति के रूप में किया जाए, ऐसे व्यक्ति के रूप में, जो भविष्य में समृद्ध न हो सकेगा, उसके वंशजों में कोई भी व्यक्ति सम्पन्न न होगा, न तो कोई इसके बाद दावीद के सिंहासन पर विराजमान होगा न ही कोई यहूदिया को उच्चाधिकारी हो सकेगा.”
