Jeremiah 19
1 Thus said Yahweh, Go and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, —and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
So sprach Jehova: Geh und kaufe einen irdenen Krug [Eig. einen Töpferkrug, ] und nimm mit dir von den Ältesten des Volkes und von den Ältesten der Priester;
2 Then shalt thou go forth into the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the opening of the gate of potsherds; and proclaim there the words which I shall speak unto thee;
und gehe hinaus in das Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms, welches vor dem Eingang des Tores Charsuth [d. h. des Scherbentores] liegt, und rufe daselbst die Worte aus, die ich zu dir reden werde,
3 and shalt say, —Hear ye the word of Yahweh, O kings of Judah And inhabitants of Jerusalem, —Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—God of Israel Behold me! bringing in calamity upon this place, which shall cause the ears of every one that heareth it, to tingle:
und sprich: Höret das Wort Jehovas, ihr Könige von Juda und ihr Bewohner von Jerusalem! So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich bringe Unglück über diesen Ort, daß einem jeden, der es hört, seine Ohren gellen werden.
4 Because they have forsaken me, And have treated this as a foreign place, And have burned incense therein to other gods, which neither they, nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah, have known; And have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Darum, daß sie mich verlassen und diesen Ort verkannt und in ihm anderen Göttern geräuchert haben, die sie nicht kannten, weder sie noch ihre Väter noch die Könige von Juda, und diesen Ort mit dem Blute Unschuldiger erfüllt haben,
5 And have built the high places of Baal for burning up their sons in the fire as ascending-sacrifices to Baal, —Which I commanded not, Nor spake, Neither came it up on my heart,
und die Höhen des Baal gebaut, um ihre Kinder als Brandopfer für den Baal im Feuer zu verbrennen, was ich nicht geboten noch geredet habe und mir nicht in den Sinn gekommen ist:
6 Therefore, lo! days coming, Declareth Yahweh, When this place shall be called no longer The Topheth, or The Valley of Ben-hinnom, —but—The Valley of Slaughter;
darum siehe, Tage kommen, spricht Jehova, da dieser Ort nicht mehr Topheth [S. die Anm. zu 2. Kön. 23,10,] noch Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms, sondern Würgetal genannt werden wird.
7 And I will pour out the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, And I will cause them to fall by the sword, before their enemies, and by the hand of them who seek their life, —
Und ich werde den Rat von Juda und Jerusalem vereiteln [Eig. ausleeren] an diesem Orte, und werde sie durchs Schwert fallen lassen vor ihren Feinden und durch die Hand derer, welche nach ihrem Leben trachten; und ich werde ihre Leichname dem Gevögel des Himmels und den Tieren der Erde zur Speise geben.
8 And I will give their dead bodies for food, to the bird of the heavens and to the beast of the earth; And I will make this city a desolation and a hissing, —every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and hiss over all her wounds;
Und ich werde diese Stadt zum Entsetzen und zum Gezisch machen: jeder, der an ihr vorüberzieht, wird sich entsetzen und zischen über alle ihre Plagen [O. Schläge.]
9 And I will suffer them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, yea every one—the flesh of his friend, will they eat, —in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith, their enemies, and they who seek their lives, will straiten them.
Und ich werde sie das Fleisch ihrer Söhne und das Fleisch ihrer Töchter essen lassen, und sie sollen einer des anderen Fleisch essen in der Belagerung und in der Bedrängnis, womit ihre Feinde und die nach ihrem Leben trachten sie bedrängen werden. -
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle, before the eyes of the men who are walking with thee;
Und du sollst den Krug zerbrechen vor den Augen der Männer, die mit dir gegangen sind,
11 and shalt say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—Thus and thus, will I break this people, and this city, As one breaketh the vessel of a potter, which cannot be made whole any more, —And in Topheth, shall they bury, for want of place to bury.
und zu ihnen sprechen: So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen: Also werde ich dieses Volk und diese Stadt zerschmettern, wie man ein Töpfergefäß zerschmettert, das nicht wiederhergestellt werden kann. Und man wird im Topheth begraben, aus Mangel an Raum zu begraben.
12 Thus, will I do to this place Declareth Yahweh, And to the inhabitants thereof, —Even making this city like Topheth:
Also werde ich diesem Orte tun, spricht Jehova, und seinen Bewohnern, um diese Stadt dem Topheth gleich zu machen.
13 Yea, the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall like the place of Topheth, be places defiled, —even all the houses upon whose roofs they burned incense to all the host of the heavens, and poured out drink-offerings to other gods.
Und die Häuser von Jerusalem und die Häuser der Könige von Juda sollen unrein werden wie der Ort Topheth: alle die Häuser, auf deren Dächern sie dem ganzen Heere des Himmels geräuchert und anderen Göttern Trankopfer gespendet haben.
14 Then entered Jeremiah out of Topheth, whither Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, —and stood in the court of the house of Yahweh, and said unto all the people:
Und Jeremia kam vom Topheth, wohin Jehova ihn gesandt hatte zu weissagen, und er trat in den Vorhof des Hauses Jehovas und sprach zu dem ganzen Volke:
15 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, Behold me! brining in against this city, and upon all the cities thereof, The whole calamity which I have pronounced against her, —Because they stiffened their neck, that they might not hear my words.
So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will über diese Stadt und über alle ihre Städte all das Unglück bringen, welches ich über sie geredet habe; denn sie haben ihren Nacken verhärtet, um meine Worte nicht zu hören.
